One of the things I look forward to when traveling to/through BFE is the oppty to stop into hole in…read morethe wall BBQ joint and sampling what's on the menu. Just so happens I was in Dawson and well, the pickings are pretty slim so it's not surprise this place jumped out at me immediately. The name is certainly no lie, it literally looks like a (rundown) farmhouse off the side of the main (?) road through town. Parking is plentiful, assuming you don't mind parking on unpaved and uneven ground. Certainly wasn't an issue the day I visited but I can imagine it'd be a pain if it were raining. Inside there appeared to be plenty of tables inside, along with a couple high tops and an odd bar type space to the right. Ordering was most pretty straight forward, and the girl taking my order was happy to point out the things they didn't have that day (brisket and a host of sides). Regardless, still a pretty decent lineup to order from including ribs, chicken and pork, along with some crazier options I didn't spring for (turkey leg and frog legs!). I ended up getting the rib plate and added a few extra bones, which they were quite accommodating on and just asked how many more I wanted. Taste wise they were quite good, great smoke, pretty meaty and I made quick work of them all. I elected for beans and potato salad for my sides, and while the beans were forgettable, the potato salad was pretty good. The sauce was ok, nothing too fancy and just a basic sauce that I ended up adding a bit of hot sauce to. All in all, a pretty solid place in the middle of nowhere. Don't know when, if ever, I'll be back but I wouldn't hesitate to drop back in again.

We decided to try this place considering the reviews and it didn't disappoint. We had the ribs and…read morepulled pork sandwich and both were really good. Their fried green tomatoes were sliced thin which helped keep them crispy. The serving sizes were plentiful and definitely worth the money. We definitely will be back when we drive through town again.

We went with my brother and his wife and daughter to eat at Pat's place, a beloved Americus tradition. I cannot remember a time in my life when Pat's place was not open. It actually is about the same age as I am. It got it started as a biker bar years and years and years ago, and then it transformed into a college hangout. Only most of the patrons are people who never went to Georgia Southwestern or they graduated so long ago that they're now retired from their jobs. So it kinda is a college bar just for people who graduated from college in 1980. My wife ordered a garden salad and we got some nachos and I got a Reuben with chips and an order of chicken wings. It was $75. And I've got to tell you none of it was anything special. You could get a better Reuben out of a sandwich machine. And if you don't order extra meat, what you end up with is a sauerkraut sandwich. The chicken wings they were Tysons chicken wings from a bag and they tasted like the dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets that my nieces eat. My nieces are under 10 years old. The nachos were mini Tostitos with a couple of three different cups of things served with them. The chili was OK. The guacamole was OK. The cheese sauce was nacho cheese sauce. Think about this as concession stand nachos or school lunchroom nachos. My wife's salad was delicious looking it was very good. She enjoyed it and it was a great deal. The rest of the meal was total garbage. And for $75 I expected better. Not a drop of beer was consumed. $75 included two cokes. And you have to bus your own table when you're finished. The service is always very good, they bring your food to your table after you order it at the bar. And it's not a proper bar either. It's just beer, I guess you could have a glass of wine but it's mostly beer and soft drinks. They're not putting on any airs at Pat. They're just charging too much.

The owners relocated to Pine Mountain from Cobb County in recent years, and the spot is named after their oldest son! They've been open for almost a year. The service at Dakota's Counter is exceptionally friendly and unfussy. You walk in, step up to 'the counter,' and place your order with ease and comfort, making the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. You have a choice to eat inside, outside, or take out, catering to your preferences. We ordered the chicken caesar wrap with chips and a Cobb salad with chicken. Both were beautifully made, prepared to order, and incredibly tasty. The Arnold Palmers we ordered--with hand-squeezed lemonade and freshly brewed tea--hit the spot on this scorcher of a day. We ate in, and the dining room had a steady flow of customers coming and going, all with warm smiles. On the way out, we took note of their extensive order-a-meal option. Photo below.

Comfortable seating. We ordered our soup and sandwiches. The owner brought our food out and apologized for a long wait. But we had only waited about 15 min from the time we entered. My tomato bisque was the perfect side for my grilled Bacon Tomato and cheese sandwich. My husband tried the 4 cheese grilled and loved it. You can never have too much cheese!! Location is convenient on Broad st in Pine Mountain. Plenty of street parking. Oh the Molasses Cookies are to die for!! A must try. Highly recommend.
