    Pork sandwich and slaw

This is a great stop if you are in the area hiking Providence Canyon. We completed our hike on a Sunday morning, and this was one of the only spots that was open. We caught them with just the right amount of time to eat before their 3 pm closing time. The restaurant is in a converted home, and the seating is in a large, open entry way. They have a window to the outside porch that they use for servicing to-go orders. They also have outdoor seating on the porch (alongside a large smoker) in case you spend to much time at the base of the canyon, playing in the mud. Shirts and shoes are required and they ask that you clean your hiking boots if you are eating inside. You can purchase one of their "our butts smell good" t-shirts if you want a souvenir. The spot appears to be family-owned and frequented by visiting hikers and local families. The menu consists of standard barbecue fare. My family and I all opted for pulled pork options (sandwiches and plates). Flavor was smoky and peppery, with a hint of vinegar. Cole slaw and baked beans were great. Because of our morning hike, we splurged and ordered dessert. The key lime pie was a fantastic sweet and tangy finish. It was quick, affordable and very filling after the morning's physical exertion. We would definitely return if we were in the area.

This is a $25.00 "shareable family meal" the house special FOR TWO , 2 ribs a quarter chicken that other stuff 4 hawiam roles and a small cup of potato salad. Microwaved trash which is where it went. If you value your money and know what bbq is then avoid this place. It's nearly fraud to call this bbq

Good small town food. The Brunswick stew was good an smokey but basic. I had the pulled pork on a tater. It was tender and mild, good for my taste. My husband had the rib sandwich and he enjoyed the smoked ribs but they were a bit tough. The restaurant is the first floor of an old home and it appears the owner runs the kitchen and smokers on the front porch. The meat is smoked right there which is great. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if Yelp would let me. Good home cooked food, cute. $24 for two people was a bit high for lunch.

On our way to hike Province Canyon looking for a restroom and snacks. Saw 4 Way BBQ across from the mini mart and we decided to give it a try. Tasty pulled pork sandwiches, pulled pork on baked potato, Brunswick Stew, and spicy baked beans. Good sweet tea. Fueled our 3-mile hike.

We paid 68.00 with tip to feed 2 adults and 2 children. The portions were very small for the subpar food and price and we left hungry.

One of the things I look forward to when traveling to/through BFE is the oppty to stop into hole in…read morethe wall BBQ joint and sampling what's on the menu. Just so happens I was in Dawson and well, the pickings are pretty slim so it's not surprise this place jumped out at me immediately. The name is certainly no lie, it literally looks like a (rundown) farmhouse off the side of the main (?) road through town. Parking is plentiful, assuming you don't mind parking on unpaved and uneven ground. Certainly wasn't an issue the day I visited but I can imagine it'd be a pain if it were raining. Inside there appeared to be plenty of tables inside, along with a couple high tops and an odd bar type space to the right. Ordering was most pretty straight forward, and the girl taking my order was happy to point out the things they didn't have that day (brisket and a host of sides). Regardless, still a pretty decent lineup to order from including ribs, chicken and pork, along with some crazier options I didn't spring for (turkey leg and frog legs!). I ended up getting the rib plate and added a few extra bones, which they were quite accommodating on and just asked how many more I wanted. Taste wise they were quite good, great smoke, pretty meaty and I made quick work of them all. I elected for beans and potato salad for my sides, and while the beans were forgettable, the potato salad was pretty good. The sauce was ok, nothing too fancy and just a basic sauce that I ended up adding a bit of hot sauce to. All in all, a pretty solid place in the middle of nowhere. Don't know when, if ever, I'll be back but I wouldn't hesitate to drop back in again.

We decided to try this place considering the reviews and it didn't disappoint. We had the ribs and…read morepulled pork sandwich and both were really good. Their fried green tomatoes were sliced thin which helped keep them crispy. The serving sizes were plentiful and definitely worth the money. We definitely will be back when we drive through town again.

The service here is a little weird and jarring at first. I hadn't gone more than 10 feet through…read morethe door when I was asked "What'll you have to drink?" You just have to know the procedure, but it wasn't only me, a Northerner whose brain hadn't yet fully recalibrated for the local accent. Locals were confused too. Procedure is this: tell them your drink preference (I had water), pick up a tray, put it on the counter, pick out a main, three sides, a dessert, slide it down to the register, pay, and take it to your table. At that point do you begin eating? No! Remove your items from the tray and they come by and pick it up. Now begin! You may be thinking "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld but I assure you it didn't feel that way. Just the quirky way they run the place. The waitress did warm up after I was there a while, came over to ask where I was from, etc. And to try to convince me to come back for breakfast! This is cafeteria style, with everything prepared ahead of time and kept warm on steam trays. So how do they keep that fried chicken so crunchy and delicious? Perhaps the best I've ever had, the batter so crunchy you could probably hear me eating from another room, assertively peppery, the large leg and thigh pieces perfectly cooked and juicy. (White meat also available.) My sides were lima beans, turnip greens, and yams. The highlight was the yams: super sweet but not in a bad way, balanced by good seasonings. The beans were fine, a bit salty. The only disappointment were the turnip greens, too finely chopped and overcooked. The portion sizes were decent. Also included is corn bread. Two choices: baked or fried. Never heard of fried so I tried that. Interesting but a little chewy and not so much corn flavor; next time I'd get the baked. Finishing this rather large lunch was a challenge for me but I managed, while taking in the local ambience. I saved the dessert for later. Dessert? Yes. I was also asked on ordering what I wanted for dessert. The only one that appealed was the red velvet cake (the others were a cobbler and bread pudding) so I got that. I assumed it was included but when I paid I saw it was not. $4; no big deal. It didn't look that good, a thin 1 inch slice tightly shrink wrapped on a paper plate. Looks were deceiving. The first time I actually liked red velvet cake, a light crumbly texture and cream cheese frosting that tasted of more than sugar. With the amount of frosting this tiny slice was quite filling and I'm glad it wasn't larger. All this for a little over $21. I think this was including tip but I'm not positive. Either way, great deal!

Just go, don't even question it, go. Best little diner, great food, amazing service, and fast!read more

We were traveling thru town with a small camper, plenty of parking which is alway a plus. Not because they weren't busy though. I have a new allergy to shellfish and this has changed my dining experience everywhere we go. My FIRST question in any restaurant is always, do you use the same grease for shrimp/shellfish as you do other foods? The lady at the front walked to the back, a gentleman (assuming the cook ALSO the manager or even owner) came up front, clarified my allergy and assured me that he took allergies seriously and he NEVER mixes shrimp with mainstream fried food, chicken, fries, onion rings. I was sold at this point! The waitress seated us, promptly took our order, food was fast and hot, huge portions and delicious! We added to our order after food came to the table, because it was that good! The cook/owner personally brought the second round as he also checked on the quality of all the food. He was very nice and personable. We will definitely be back anytime we're in the area again! I ate BBQ and husband has catfish.
