I had the huge honor of being invited to get a sneak peek at the new Clearview before it opened to the public. Sadly, I had never been before so I can't compare it to how it used to be. But what I do know is that this was excellent. The Dixon family has gone in and done a huge overhaul on the place. The kitchen has been totally updated and the dining area has been also. Everything is clean and well functioning. You go to the counter and order and then go find a table. The place is small and the number of tables is limited. Once your order is ready they bring it out to you. You get a cup and there is tea and a fountain drink machine for you to fill up your glass. The bbq was amazing. Very tender and flavorful. I ordered a medium bbq plate and it was more than I could eat. I love the chopped bbq. You can also get sliced and chipped. I believe I heard them say the same man that used to do the cooking of the meat, is still the one doing it. They also have clearview bbq sauce and the Dixon family yellow jacket sauce. Both are excellent. We got to try the two pies. One was pecan and the other was a peanut butter pie (though I think it has a different name). I tried the BBQ chicken and chip sandwich both, we're not tasty with or without the sauce, the meat tasted liked it was unseasoned and just thrown on the grill. One of the best bbq places I have ever eaten!!! Talk about melt in your mouth! The lines of parked cars out front at 3pm gave us a good clue that it was good, and boy were they right. I've been coming to Clearview Barbecue for over 5 years now, and Clearview is one of the best, if not THE best barbecue restaurants in Columbus. In fact, it's consistently better than Country's Barbecue. Everything Clearview offers is superb. The chipped BBQ is amazingly fine and saturated perfectly in sauce, the coleslaw made with gobs of mayonnaise is exactly what you expect a Southern BBQ restaurant to have, and the Brunswick stew is the best in Georgia, and the tea is mighty fine as well. The mustard based sauces pair perfectly with the barbecue and really bring out the flavor. Oh, and did I mention a family of 3 can eat here for under $10.
