The smoke ring was generous and the tenderness and flavor were scrumptious. The baked beans were a little sweet and savory flavor bomb that delighted this girls taste buds. I really enjoyed the cabbage a lot. It was a little spicy but it was a black pepper heat rather than a chili type heat. The Mac and Cheese is a baked dish that I am told is a 3rd generation recipe. I don't even like baked Mac and cheese but it was so good and not AT ALL dry. I was pleasantly surprised. My son ordered the yams and I tried those as well, and omg they were delicious. Everyone who knows me, know I like some good barbecue. In my 13 years in Columbus, GA, The Emerald's Touch, owned by Prathan Sandy Powell is the absolute best I've eaten. The meat is slow cooked in his smoker/grill and is perfect. It requires no sauce; however, his homemade barbecue sauce is "to die for." His Brunswick Stew is second to none. I passed Emeralds all the time going and coming to work and today I decided to give them a try. When I say that was the best decision I made, it was the BEST. I got the chicken sandwich, brunswich stew and the fried cabbage. OMG. I was mad that I didn't get more than what I got but enjoyed what I had. I believe I heard them say the same man that used to do the cooking of the meat, is still the one doing it. They also have clearview bbq sauce and the Dixon family yellow jacket sauce. Both are excellent. We got to try the two pies. One was pecan and the other was a peanut butter pie (though I think it has a different name).
