I ordered the half chicken plate, rib tips sandwich, and sampled the rib plate--every bite was packed with that rich, smoky flavor only a true Southern BBQ spot can deliver. The vinegar-based sauce gave the perfect tang without overpowering the meat--just how I like it. The sides were on point too--potato salad was creamy and flavorful, the baked beans had that deep, smoky sweetness, and the fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned right. But what really sealed the 5-star experience? The ambiance and service. The place has that warm, down-home feel where you instantly feel welcome. But what I do know is that this was excellent. The Dixon family has gone in and done a huge overhaul on the place. The kitchen has been totally updated and the dining area has been also. Everything is clean and well functioning. You go to the counter and order and then go find a table. The place is small and the number of tables is limited. Once your order is ready they bring it out to you. You get a cup and there is tea and a fountain drink machine for you to fill up your glass. The bbq was amazing. Very tender and flavorful. I ordered a medium bbq plate and it was more than I could eat. I love the chopped bbq. You can also get sliced and chipped. I believe I heard them say the same man that used to do the cooking of the meat, is still the one doing it. They also have clearview bbq sauce and the Dixon family yellow jacket sauce. Both are excellent. We got to try the two pies. One was pecan and the other was a peanut butter pie (though I think it has a different name). Of the two, my friend and I felt the peanut butter one was the best of that kind we had ever had. They are open now and the wait is over. Run right over. You will be so glad you did.
