This was about three days ago; I've heard nothing. Kirchner might do a good job when they show up or bother to call you back, but if you're going to run a business, you might want to be more responsive to potential customers.

I had a large tree on my property and that leaned over into my neighbors yard. My neighbor asked me if I would mind removing it and we agreed to split the cost of removal. We both gathered quotes from multiple companies, and all prices were comparable. Since my neighbor was paying half, I agreed to go with the company he suggested--Appalachian Tree Co. I contacted Jessie, the owners son, to get a quote on a second tree entirely on my property. I signed documents for both trees, and Jessie said he would schedule the work and get back to me with a date. A week and a half passed with no update. When I mentioned this to my neighbor, he told me Jessie had already called him and scheduled the work for December 16th. That was a red flag, but I initially assumed it was just an oversight. The morning of the job, the crew arrived early. I was never notified they had arrived even though the trees were in my yard. Instead, they contacted my neighbor by knocking on his door. My neighbor began texting me, suggesting I come outside to watch them to make sure they were doing what I wanted. I was working from home and in meetings, which made that difficult. He stood out back while they worked. Part of our agreement was that I wanted smaller wood left for firewood and the wood chips spread neatly in a flower bed, with the yard cleaned up of wood chips and saw dust. During a short break, I spoke with Jessie, who showed me a small pile of wood set aside. I asked for more and agreed to pay him extra cash on the side to cut some of the larger pieces down to usable sizes. We agreed on an amount and I gave clear instructions on where to place the wood. About 40 minutes later, Jessie called and asked me to come outside. I stepped out of my meeting just as the last truck was pulling away. My yard was a mess, divots in the lawn, debris everywhere and my driveway was blocked by massive, uncut tree trunks. This was not what we agreed to. When I pointed this out, Jessie said his crew had already left and there was nothing he could do. I asked him to take the wood with him since it was blocking my driveway and I had no way to move or use it. He refused, again saying his crew had left. I even asked how much it would cost to remove it, and suddenly they could be removed for $200 extra. I asked if he expected that price plus the cost to cut the trees into usable pieces as we agreed and he said yes. My wife and I agreed we weren't going to pay extra just to fix a problem they created. I attempted to pay for the agreed-upon tree removal and would give him $150 to take the big tree stumps but Jessie told me to call the office for payment and also they wouldn't take the tree stumps or help me move them out of my driveway. He became visibly upset, got in his car, and left. I was left apologizing to my neighbors for the damage and mess in my yard, something no homeowner should have to deal with after paying for a professional service. To make matters worse, when I called to pay, I was told there would be a 3% fee for paying by credit card, something that was never disclosed in writing. That fee would have been nearly $100. I asked about Zelle and debit card payments; same 3% fee. I then offered to pay by check and was told I'd need to personally meet the owner to hand it to him. After pushing back, they finally agreed to waive the 3% fee for a debit card. Even then, my bank called me because Appalachian Tree Co. attempted to charge my card multiple times, triggering fraud alerts. I had to confirm one charge was legitimate and block the others. Overall, this experience showed a serious lack of communication, professionalism, and accountability. I cannot recommend Appalachian Tree Co. based on how this job was handled from start to finish. After this review Jessie texted me December 18th and agreed to come make things right by fixing the divots in my yard and removing the mounds of sawdust. Thought the service would be great. However, when I called to schedule the tree removal, it took me calling and leaving messages three times before I finally was able to schedule on my 4th call. No messages were ever returned. The day they came to remove the trees, I was told they'd have to return the next day to grind the stumps. No one returned the next day. When they finally called to schedule it, they gave me less than 24 hours notice and when I said that didn't work, they scheduled for the next week. Imagine my surprise when, I looked out my window as I was getting ready to leave for a scheduled event and I see a tree grinder ready to go to work on a day I told them not to come. My husband spoke to the employee who was not aware and did not have the tools to dig up the plants I had asked them to do so I could move them. My husband spoke with Alfredo who said the employee there to grind the stumps could possibly do it if we paid him $50 off the books (once again, digging up the plants was included in the original estimate). To top it all off, I received a call 4 hours after the grinding was finished to find out if the could come over the weekend to grind the stumps. There is a severe lack of communication between the various parts of this company, phone calls aren't returned and they don't communicate with the customer efficiently. I hired them based on my neighbors' recommendation and my initial contact. They will not receive my recommendation for anything nor will I ever hire them again.

I presume that because he is so busy that I've had to wait for him to service my trees. He's always been worth bothering wait. After the last big storm, my neighborhood was particularly damaged by the falling trees. One of my neighbors was hit by two very large trees. They called Steve at 5:00 am and Steve was there with his crew getting the majority of the damage taken care of that morning I had two trees that were leaning badly but posed no real threat to my property or my neighbors Steve told me that I would have to be patient but a lot of properties were in worse condition than mine and I had to wait about three weeks for him to be able get to me. We had another storm a two weeks later that brought down some limbs and I was concerned about damage to my home and my neighbors. I didn't have to wait to call. Steve anticipated my call because he was there the next morning. What a relief! Damage control is a big part of the tree business and I know how difficult it must be to manage it. I know that it may be hard to appreciate for some folks what aren't used to waiting fo service. I can't say how glad to have Steve in my address book.

Recently I asked Redmiles tree services to trim some of the trees around my house. Came to find out David is not around anymore. All I can say the service was not the same. The job was not completed on the first day. Workers did not clean the area before they left. I gave the young guy who was running the job a check. When I had a chance to inspect the work I was not satisfied. Call ed my bank and stop the payment. I called the company and asked them to come back and finish the job. They came back next day and finished the job but still did not clean the area as David used to do and any other contractor will do. As a mater of fact the young guy argued with me and gave me variety of excuses, why they can not clean. This experience cost me the fee for their service, fee for stopping the payment with the bank and another $200 for someone to spend several hours to clean the mess. In addition they damaged and destroyed some of the plants and ground covers in the back yard. I guess you can say my experience with this company was less than pleasant and very costly. Needless to say I will never use Redmiles again.

My Homeowners Association hired CTCS to remove a massive mature tree located behind my property. While the tree was safely cut down, the work was left incomplete. The large tree stump was not ground down, and large logs, limbs, and debris were left approximately six feet from my patio door, creating an unsightly appearance in my backyard. What concerns me most is that the logs and debris from the same tree that were behind my neighbor's property were moved farther back into the wooded area, while the debris behind my property was left in place. When I questioned the tree care manager and owner about this inconsistency, I was told that an HOA Board member instructed them to leave the debris where it was. Although I understand that contractors often follow their client's instructions, I believe a professional company should also take pride in completing a job fairly and consistently whenever possible. Leaving one homeowner with an unfinished result while providing a cleaner outcome for another reflects poorly on the quality and fairness of the service. As a homeowner, I pay HOA fees with the expectation that contracted work will be completed to an acceptable standard. In my opinion, CTCS completed only part of the project and accepted an outcome that left my property looking unfinished. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. While they may perform quality work when directed to do so, my experience suggests they will leave a job incomplete if instructed by a client, even when the result is inconsistent and unfair to the affected homeowner.

We used Butler Tree Service this week as we needed removal of a HUGE tree that came down in a…read morestorm. Billy came out to give an estimate within a couple hours of my reaching out (after business hours on a Saturday!) and his crew came to do the work on the next business day. The guys worked quickly and efficiently and did an excellent job. They accommodated my request to cut the smaller limbs into short pieces for firewood. The team went above and beyond my expectations, by neatly stacking the firewood pieces (as opposed to tossing them over the fence), making a temporary repair of our broken fence to prevent our dog from escaping, and they even used dirt to fill in the deep indentations in our yard where the heavy tree had crashed to the ground. In addition, the price charged was fair, and the team did an excellent job cleaning up all the debris around our property from the fallen tree. This was our second time using Butler Tree Service, the first time being several years ago when they cut some dangerous limbs. We were also very satisfied back then and we would not hesitate to call them again in the future.
