I am very happy with Randex. The staff is friendly and my clothes always smell very fresh when I pick them up. Earlier in the winter, they even delivered my dry cleaning to me on short notice. I was pleasantly surprised that they were willing to accommodate me. They are a little pricey, but overall, I am happy with them . . . especially after they started using larger safety pins to fasten my skirts to the hangers. I'm a private chef, and because of this - I don't always wear my chef jacket. Instead, I wear an apron which doesn't always cover my shirts. This sometimes means oil splatters, fruit juice, tomato juices on my pretty shirts, and sometimes even on my pants. And thus, Randex Cleaners is where I go when I've made another mess of my good clothes(silly, I really should just wear the jacket. but I just don't like to). They do a perfect job each time, and if they don't get it right the first time - they'll clean it again, for free. Also, their tailoring is exact and skillful, and they do original hems. The owners like dogs. Brings yours in, and they'll give him a cookie 'treat' while he waits. Pretty sweet stuff. read more

I have very modest needs when it comes to the cleaners . . I either need it pressed, or dry cleaned. Nope, no tailoring required. Just need A or B done by X date. In this area, they've done very well for me. I really do like the place, and the people there are always very friendly and accommodating. I also like that they do everything in-house. I've had bad experiences with places that send your clothes to some factory in the Bronx somewhere, and you may or may not get it back by 3pm even though you have a 7pm flight that you need to make. Now, unfortunately, I'm one of those people where there can be a certain thing out of place that completely puts me off and I seriously consider whether I can go back again. I'm not usually a jerk about credit card minimums, although it seems to make very little business sense to me in most cases, despite the fee that credit card companies charge. I had a rush job done on three shirts which came to $15.00, and I walk in and hand in my credit card, and the lady shakes her head and told me there was a $20.00 minimum!!!! Now, I've heard of $5.00 minimum at coffee joints I've heard of a $10.00 minimum for "free" delivery from the Chinese food place . . . but a $20.00 minimum at a laundromat?!?!??!! I may be crazy, out of my mind, nutso . . but they are adding an unnecessary extra step for me on my way to pick up my crap now. I have to go to Bank of America, to get a $20 to pay for something I should realistically be able to hand my card over for. If I go back, it will be somewhat begrudgingly. read more

This is what works about Yelp. I read Brigitte T's review and gave Randex a shot. In this neighborhood there are plenty of cleaners to choose from -- just not may good ones. Mostly you get over-priced, unfriendly, half-assed cleaners. Not Randex. Recently, I'd been horsing around with my dog in Prospect Park and took a nice tumble which left me with a ground-in grass/mud stain in the knee and a rip in the crotch of my favorite pair of jeans. I took them to Randex (after reading the Yelp review) and the owner carefully examined the jeans and gave me an honest estimation of how much she thought they could fix -- 50% on the stain, and a patch under the crotch. I wasn't happy with the sound of that estimate, but I handed my jeans over anyway. 3 days and $15 later I was in possession of my newly repaired jeans -- the stitch work was UNBELIEVABLE -- tiny, imperceptible, but strong like bull! The stain was equally amazing. Randex had gone WAY beyond the 50% estimate -- I could barely see it (I think I saw it only b/c I knew to look for it). After one add'l wash with some stain remover it was completely gone. Randex rocks! They're great at what they do and they're friendly in how they do it. Plus, their prices are a LOT better than local competitors. What more can I say, they saved my favorite jeans from the trash heap. read more

Randex is our preferred neighborhood dry cleaner. In park slope/gowanus, there are a number of options available, but we keep going back to Randex. Perhaps it is because the staff is super nice. Perhaps it is because they are great getting our stuff back clean and pressed well. Perhaps it is because our dog drags us there as he always gets a treat. :) Nevertheless, Randex does a great job and is on par with others with respect to pricing. read more

Super quick and affordable for the neighborhood (at least that's what other folks mentioned, I didn't do an in-depth price comparison). I needed my tuxedo jacket dry cleaned within a few hours, and they were able to promise as delivered: dropped off at 8:15am and it was ready by 2pm as requested (even though normal same-day is normally 5pm). It was $8.50, which considering my timetable could've been much worse! read more

I had alterations done here on a bridesmaid dress and have since started to bring my regular drycleaning too. Even though I walk past four other drycleaners on my way to Randex, I know they'll do a good job on my clothes. Plus it's nice to see the same faces every time. The prices are reasonable (ie: not cheap, not expensive) and they do the work in the shop so you know your clothes aren't making a trip across town to a warehouse and back. I went to Randex last week with a few items I had gotten from a thrift store that were dry clean only, one of which was an all-over sequined top. Before I bought the shirt, I examined it extremely carefully, knowing how easily sequins can pop off. But after a close look, I determined all the rows of sequins were in place, and I happily bought it. I had cleaned two dresses and the sequined top, and I had another dress's hem taken up 2 inches, all of which came to $75, which I thought was pretty pricy. But since I had read so many good reviews about Randex on here I figured it'd be money well spent. After getting home, I noticed an entire row of sequins was missing on the front of my shirt, where there had absolutely been sequins before. (Again, I checked it like a crazy person before I bought it.) I went back to Randex, hoping to have them sew them back on. The woman there refused to take any responsibility, stating that she had noticed the line of sequins missing when I brought it in. (Even though the person I talked to when I dropped them off was a man.) She kept saying I had knocked them off when I wore the shirt, even though I hadn't taken it out of my closet since its cleaning. Considering the large amount of money I spent at their business, I had hoped Randex might exemplify some kind of customer service, but this was not at all the case. read more

I went to Randex to have a shirt brought in at the waist and have a pair of long trousers cropped to my calf. I immediately felt I was in good hands as the couple that run the tiny shop are very friendly and polite, and knew what they were talking about when it came to each detail. The pants are a delicate corduroy, and they did a wonderful job; they even imitated the double-stitch from the original hem. I had the pants dry cleaned as well, and they haven't looked that bright in a while. It was like having a whole new pair! Both the shirt and the pants look like they were made that way. I've never had clothes tailored, but they were well within what I expected price-wise. The whole deal, including having the pants dry-cleaned, cost $45. I'm all for supporting local business but when you charge almost 3 times more than anyone in the neighborhood to dry clean a shirt your not going to have my support anymore. They need to charge a fair rate and not beat people over the head because it's park slope. I felt like I was being ripped off and that's exactly what happened. read more

I came here all the time because it's convenient for both laundry and cleaning. It's not great, but it could be worse. The laundry is not done on premises, and sometimes I have discovered a mysterious tee shirt mixed in with my stuff. I've had socks disappear, but usually I think... hey, that's the price of having your laundry done. This week, I needed a jacket cleaned for a gig. I brought it in 2 days ahead of time and asked specifically if it would be ready -- I was assured it was. It wasn't. It hadn't been pressed and there was a big streak of dirt on the arm. Out of the 4 items I brought in, only 2 had been cleaned and pressed. When I showed them, they took back the items and said it would be another day and they offered a discount of $2... off a $50 laundry and cleaning bill. While I was waiting, another guy from the nabe came in to pick up his shirts.... only to find that 2 of them were missing. It's pricey. It's not dependable. They're sloppy and they lie. I did not have a really great experience here for alterations, however the shirts I dropped off to be laundered came out fine. I brought in two pairs of jeans to be taken in and possibly adjusted in the length as well. The couple who run the shop, while nice, made me feel rushed as they shuffled me into their tiny changing room, stuck a couple of clothespins into my waist, and commented that the length would be fine once the waist was taken in. Needless to say, once I got them home I really cannot even tell if the jeans were taken in at all and the length is still too long. The real bummer is that I feel as though they charged med-high prices for a low-priced effort. I am continuing my search for a tailor in Park Slope who will take the time to listen to what I want and has a better eye for the finished results. Since I was not too pleased with the alteration's attention to detail, I do not feel comfortable taking anything nice here for cleaning either. read more

I didn't have them tailor my suit jacket based on other reviews, however they hemmed my pants perfectly, got out a stain that survived multiple other cleanings, and were pretty friendly. For 2 suits and 6 shirts to be dry cleaned, along with the hemming of one pair of pants cost around 50 dollars (I think). I'd recommend them. read more

I am so upset. I have used Randex cleaners a few times and was so happy with the results until today. Like Benny T.'s experience, I picked up my dresses and shirts and found stains that were not removed and what appear to be new stains. It's so disconcerting because one of my favorite dresses still has a stain it went in with and what appear to be splash marks that were definitely not there before and now the dress appears to be ruined. I am giving Randex 2 stars because I have had positive experiences in the past. However, now that my clothing appears to ruined and/or more dirty than when they went in, I have to warn other people. I can honestly say that I have never been treated so badly by any business in the course of my life. They shrank a vintage dress of mine to which I was particularly attached. I had worn the dress steadily for 3 years without getting it dry cleaned, because I was worried that a place would ruin it. I took less important garments to Randex and was pleased with the results, so eventually I trusted them enough to clean this dress. They shrank it at *least* a full size. When I went back to complain - not expecting the value of the dress of course, but at the least a reimbursement on the cost of the dry cleaning - I was treated with absolute DISDAIN and CONTEMPT and ACCUSED OF LYING. I was told that it was categorically impossible for them to shrink my dress, and then IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I MUST HAVE GAINED WEIGHT. Funny that the entirety of the rest of my vintage wardrobe still fits perfectly. I left the store in tears and cried my entire walk home along 6th avenue, in broad daylight. read more

After a decade of excellent service at Randex, both cleaning and tailoring, we are sorry to see the change in quality after Mr and Mrs Han retired. The new staff do not take the same level of responsibility for issues, for example when a button got ripped off a brand-new shirt and the pressing was completely botched. They seem nice enough, but we don't have the level of trust that we had in the Hans. We will be looking for other options for tailoring and dry cleaning, sadly. read more

I like this place. It was the only tailor within 5 miles of my home so I was forced to try it unless I wanted to use the "yellow pages". Anyway, the people are very friendly here...and I had two pairs of pants altered and they both came back fine. So I recommend this place. I had no idea tailors were so expensive ($50 for two alterations on one pair of pants, and one on another) but I guess that's my fault. GO RANDEX! NUMBER 1! read more

They were really friendly and made measurements and pin-tags on each as I tried each one on. She double-checked with me to see exactly what I wanted and made recommendations based on her own experiences. It took about a week for the work to be done, and the entire job came to $115. I'm not sure how that breaks down per pair of slacks, but it's definitely more than most places charge. However, you get what you pay for. If you want to rest assured that it will be done right by warm, friendly, and experienced people, this is the right place. read more

Randex tried to charge me $104 to get (3) shirts tailored. Took them to Big Apple Cleaner's who did it for $50. Talk about a big difference. While getting the shirts fitted in Randex, I heard 2 other people come in and balk at the outrageous dry cleaning and tailoring prices. I cannot comment on the quality but the prices are through the roof. Just beware before you go in. I won't be using their services in the future. read more

We've used Randex for about 9 months and were initially impressed by their neat folding and generally good and reliable service. They were always able to pick up and deliver on relatively short notice. They also use 7th Generation Detergent with is great! They even agree to wash items and hang dry them. I regularly have them hang dry my jeans but a few weeks ago, they went missing! I can understand that accidents happen but they were very rude about it and strongly denied it. It was also difficult to communicate with the saleswoman as she did not seem to understand English very well. In the end, they found my jeans but did not apologize for the trouble. When we sent in the next round of laundry, our towel went missing! They were, again very defensive, and never found it. It was an expensive towel and we were very upset about it being lost! I am now looking for a new cleaner because I fear that more clothing will be lost and I really did not like the way they handled it. read more

By far the worst dry cleaners that I have ever experienced. 1.) Cleaners could never follow verbal directions on my account to wash shirts and dry clean everything else; i then switched to leaving written directions in my pick up / drop off bag which they also could not follow; 2.) shirts arrived very wrinkled regardless of wash and starch or dry cleaning; 3.) dry cleaned shirts had a ton of small dark fuzzies and sometimes hair on them. Asked several times to get my money back but they insisted on re-doing them. Note, the Indian guy that works the front desk is nice, but ultimately the quality of this place is so horrendous that it is a waste of time, effort and money. read more

I think the most important thing I can say is that this is a DRY CLEANERS and NOT a tailor's shop. I'm sure they do fine dry cleaning work, but I did not have a great experience getting my shirt tailored here. Probably my fault for being cheap and not taking my shirt to a real tailor. I thought I would be okay since I drew them a picture of what I wanted and even wrote down measurements. Wrong. They went ahead and tailored it the way they wanted. I paid $29 for bad tailoring from a dry cleaners. They offered me a half price "discount" to get it right. No thank you. After looking over the reviews again, I should have seen the signs. It seems they do good work for small alterations and for more casual wear. If you fit this category you might be okay. If you're someone who can't understand why someone would wear a suit or a blazer to work, then this review doesn't really apply to you. But if you're someone who likes looking REALLY good and knows what good looks like, then you probably already know it takes money to look like money. This isn't the place to go for your tailoring work. Pay for cheap work and you will look cheap. This probably doesn't matter for casual wear, but it will matter for professional wear. That being said, the sewing work looked pretty good. They just have no sense of style (upon reflection, what should I have expected from two elderly couple?)... and this is really what you are paying for from a good tailor - style. read more

I was using Randex for a very long time. Every week I would send out about 5 to 8 dress shirts for laundering and pressing. I started to notice the shirts were coming back with basic stains on them that should've come out in the wash. Straw that broke the camels back was that I got a shirt back that had paper towel remnants on it from a stain that I had before I sent it in. These fibers would not of been there had it gone through a wash cycle. When I called to complain they could offer me nothing about how it was done because they send the shirts out. When I explained to them that their vendors or not cleaning the clothing they had nothing to say. They offered me a refund of my last two orders but doesn't change the fact I've been wearing dirty shirts for a year. Really gross I would avoid at all cost. read more
