Honestly I was pretty excited to come here because I was looking forward to some tasty fajitas and I think it was a miss. First we ordered a corona and margarita, the margarita was extremely sweet and I couldn't finish it. Second we got the queso fundido as an app and it fell flat, literally had absolutely no flavor. Then we got the chicken fajitas for two and for a Mexican place it had ZERO seasonings. Everything was so incredibly bland that we barely at it and took it home to church it up. I'm a regular at this restaurant. They consistently deliver authentic Mexican cuisine with enthusiastic service. I have never had bad service here. All their staff is kind. There is sometimes a wait to be seated because it is so popular but the food always gets to my table quickly. Atmosphere is clean and modern with southwestern vibes. Outdoor patio is shaded and has mountain views. If you're lucky you can snag the outdoor fire pit for the evening. Prices are a little high but their fajitas for two is a good value. It feeds two plus leftovers for the next day. Recommend their fajitas, arroz con camerones, or street tacos. If you're feeling adventurous try their molcajete. This place keeps busy! The wait staff is always super nice. We have been here a few times now and it seems to retain their staff which is always nice--you get to see familiar faces and they tend to remember you. It does take longer than desired to get drinks and refills--better off walking up to the bar and getting them that way. The restaurant has always been clean whenever we are there. The food is always yummy--my favorite though is the desserts! We have come in just for that --hey now, there's no shame in that! LOL. Their chips and salsa is the bomb! If you're looking for a place that serves great traditional Mexican food and also has some unique dishes, this is the place to try! We came and were expecting to order some classic Mexican food, however we saw the page of Aztec inspired dishes and I'm so glad we stepped out of our comfort zone! The Molcajete trio for two was so unique and tasty! It was also a lot of food, we were both full and had leftovers for the next day! The drinks are also pretty tasty, they are also quite large making the price more reasonable. I can honestly say I didn't know you could make burro's fancy. These were a nice, delicious surprise. We got the bacon and egg Burro and chorizo Burro. It ended up being $20 for them so a little pricier, but definitely worth it. Very filling and a bit spicy for those that love a good kick. I tried both and I like the chorizo one a little more. The restaurant itself is very nice even the bathroom and the service I received over the phone when I placed the order was extremely helpful. The order taker was patient and walked me thru the menu. This was my first time eating here and it was such a great first experience. The atmosphere was very welcoming and there was music playin and peopoe enjoying ine another's company. Our waitor was so very sweet to our kids and checked on us periodically. The chips and salsas were brought to our table promptly! Fresh and delicious. One spicy one mild. I was not a fan of the mild and the spicy one wasn't really spicy to me however if you are not ise to spicy you will probably think it is. It had great flavor for sure & can taste the fresh ingredients. I ordered the chimichangas because I love the crunchiness and it was delicious. I love how the refried beans were poured into a crunchy shell! the queso fundido was super yummy and the cheese was very stretchy. The kids enjoyed pulling it apart. Great appetizer choice for sure. I would definitely come back to eat here. The service was quick and the food was flavorful! My kiddos enjoyed their food and my oldest ate the entire plate of food! That is always a plus. Fantastic Mexican food! I've lived near this restaurant for years and never gave it a try. I didn't know what I was missing. They have a huge veggie burrito served with rice and beans and all the employees are so friendly and helpful. They have a cute outdoor seating are as well. Celebrated a birthday here for dinner with a party of 7. My husband and I ordered their moljachete for two that included shrimp, steak, and chicken. It arrived hot and bubbling to our table. We tried this place a couple of years ago when we were new in town. The first visit, I had the beef flautas, and they were good. The fajitas my man ate were lacking flavor! The second visit, the flautas were lacking flavor now. When they brought our food, there was a hair right on top of my man's food, so he sent it back. They returned it on a dirty plate. Although the plate had leftover food on the bottom of the plate, he decided he didn't want to eat. We have not returned since 2022. read more

We had asked friends that live here to pick a great Mexican Restaurant for us to meet up for lunch when we were in town and we LOVED Rancho Rustico! I forgot to take a picture of our Deluxe Burrito with the very tender Colorado Beef, but it was EXCELLENT!! Even the guacamole that came on the plate was so fresh & yummy and way better than the typical guacamole you get when it's included in the meal! Later I was ready to go back for dinner for the same order, since we had to leave in the morning!! But we'll definitely be back whenever we are in Tucson. Visited there this evening for early dinner before 5 pm. Waitress did not share happy hour offerings, restaurant was hot and when we questioned the response was oh it is broken over here. It was 105 outside. Flies were ridiculous oh and we were inside. Had to ask multiple times for drink refills and there was plenty of help just standing around. Dinner was nothing special at all. Went here around 8:30pm on a Tuesday night with a friend visiting me. Their happy hour is around 3pm-5pm (I think) and then 8pm-close. We got the Diablo wings appetizer and two house margaritas since they were on the happy hour menu. We also ordered a carnitas street taco plate to share since we weren't super hungry. Complimentary Salsa and Chips: Fried chips served with a pretty spicy, tasty salsa. Definitely yummy. House Margaritas: Pretty good! I'd say one of the more excellent margaritas that I've had at any Mexican restaurant. Diablo Wings: Came with about 8 big wings in a sweet and spicy sauce with a side of ranch. The wings were perfectly cooked in the sauce, but plating was a bit messy with random lettuce. However, taste-wise, I's I'd say that was the best dish of the night. Carnitas Street Tacos: It came with about 5 tacos. The tacos were okay. Meat was a bit dry with little seasoning. I probably wouldn't get it again. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty casual, and the bathrooms are clean. Overall, decent food for happy hour so I'd probably come back for happy hour specials and try other things on their happy hour menu. I wouldn't give it more than a 3.5 though. read more

We had dinner at Rancho last night. Every time we eat here lately we are amazed at what they get away with as far as pricing goes. Charging $12 for a single shot of Buffalo Trace is robbery. I ordered a quesadilla and asked for grilled veggies instead of meat and was charged $18!! That is unbelievable to upcharge that much for a substitution (and I'm pretty sure the tiny bit of veggies in my quesadilla are cheaper than any kind of meat!). I also ordered their Original Margarita, which I've ordered many times before, and it just wasn't very good. It was too sweet and very weak and watery tasting (and for $12 I expect better). My husband paid the bill and I didn't see it until later, but the prices are getting ridiculously high. We have been long time customers (since they were down by Fry's) but I don't think we will continue to come back. I guess they can charge whatever they want since there are so few dining options in Vail, but we will drive into Tucson in the future to get good food at a fair price. read more

Rancho Rústico is close to our house in Vail, so we frequently go eat there. The waitstaff is friendly and always attentive. I've tried quite a few of their meals, but I really like the molcajete. They have several. We've tried the seafood and steak. I personally like the steak but my wife likes the seafood. It comes with a HOT molcajete filled with meat, cheese, avocado, and veggies.
