Quesabirria Taco
Michelle R.

This is our go-to place for amazing food. The best food truck in town! We are so fortunate to live near their usual spot at Speedway/Houghton. We always call ahead and our order is ready when we get there. They cook everything fresh and it's worth the wait! Our favorites are the burros - they are perfection and we love every version: shredded beef, chicken, carne asada, vegan jackfruit - all of them are amazing! And so big! I also love their quesabarria tacos- melt in your mouth amazingness. Of course their other tacos are great, too. They offer a great vegan menu as well - it's the best tasting jackfruit I've ever had. I can't say enough about the quality of food here - definitely give it a try!

I have been literally stuck in this place dying to eat here. I have seen this taco truck here for years I have never realize it is actually True gem of a food truck. It started popping up in my Yelp and for the last couple months I've been really wanting to try it and I finally got it today. End it has five stars all around. I called my order and read another reviews of the week to be a while but she had my food ready when I got there about 10 minutes later. The ladies serving me could not have been any sweeter. I got a bean cheese and rice burrito and a jackfruit burrito and both were amazing!!!!! OK with some kind of chipotle salsa that was creamy and it was so good. They are at Houghton at Speedway Wednesday through Saturday and on Sunday they are at Pantano and 22nd. Their truck is purple now, it used to be white.

Stopped by for a quick lunch...no one to take the order after 5 minutes I had to leave. Too bad, excellent food and no employee available. Best of luck next time I hope!

Refreshing agua fresca!

Found this place through my goto vegan source on IG @deathfreefoodie and @ tucson_vegan (ty both!). Tried the vegan quesa birria tacos, yummy stuff! Like, Mark Weins would be saying, "Oh, Wow!" Also tried a vegan Sonoran style hotdog, and washed everything down with some agua fresca honeydew melon. Just what the doctor ordered. This is the quintessential food truck experience if you're into food trucks! Might order ahead if don't want to wait or pick an off-time. A steady flow of customers there for sure. We'll definitely be back for more!

The place where magic happens.

Amazing!!!! Located at a Circle K's parking lot on the far east side of Tucson, this little place always has a steady run of traffic. Why? Because it's good! Operating out of food truck that doesn't move a lot (they do special events and catering, though), this unassuming place throws out some great Mexican food. Don't let the name fool you. There are also burritos and quesadillas, as well as birria tacos. You want vegan? They've got that, too. There is a table available if you want to dine al fresco and watch the traffic go by (there are also the Rincons and Catalinas to look at). Now, let's talk the food - we had carne asada, as I arrived too late for shredded beef or birria. My husband had the taco plate - three tacos, picked onions mixed with white onion (the onion was a negative for him) beans, rice, hot salsa, and limes. I ordered the carne asada burrito and a bean and cheese burrito for us to split. Everything was delicious! The meat was in small, flavorful pieces. The tortillas were incredible, and the burritos were grilled on a flat top after being filled. And, they probably weighed over a pound each. Worth the wait? You bet it was! We will return, and we'll try to get there early to be able to try the shredded beef.

The lady was really rude when we ordered. We got to hotel and the rice is hard and had a long hair in it. Not worth the money.

Unfortunately, Guadalajara is one of these places. What I like: This restaurant can accommodate well over 100 diners without sacrificing service. Food only took 20 minutes during a dinner rush. I appreciate a well-oiled machine. I will admit, the salsa gimmick is charming. What needs work: Just because there's tableside salsa does not mean it's good. I have never seen anyone use so much cilantro! The drinks are mid--the jalapeno margarita uses the mildest peppers in the universe, and surprise! It's somehow also loaded with cilantro. I excitedly went for the biggest, most famous burrito on the menu and it just has too many ingredients (beans, rice, bacon, shrimp, carne asada) to work. They were too ambitious with this one. My bad. I can see this as a really fun place to take a large group from out of town. I bet if you come from the Midwest (it is full of snowbirds from the Midwest), this is mind-blowingly good. By Arizona standards, however, there are just too many old-timey places that simply do everything better.

The entire restaurant was packed with energy, music, and people enjoying the celebration, but it still managed to keep that classic Tucson charm and authentic Sonoran feel that has made El Charro such an iconic spot for over 100 years. The ambience downtown was fantastic, especially with the historic setting and the excitement throughout the evening. Cinco de Mayo brought an extra level of energy to the restaurant, with a lively crowd, great music, and a fun atmosphere that made the night feel like a true celebration. Even with how busy it was, the staff worked hard to keep things moving and remained friendly throughout the night. The food was excellent and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and you can tell why El Charro has become such a Tucson staple over the years. The carne seca continues to stand out as one of the signature dishes in the city, and the traditional Sonoran-style flavors really make the experience unique. The margaritas and drinks were also a highlight and paired perfectly with the festive Cinco de Mayo atmosphere. Between the food, drinks, music, and the energy of downtown Tucson, it felt like one of the best places in the city to celebrate the holiday. Overall, El Charro Cafe delivered a memorable Cinco de Mayo experience with great food, a lively atmosphere, and the kind of Tucson history and culture that keeps people coming back year after year.

Spacious patio area, with cool lights, umbrellas, and many tables. If you have a choice and it isn't too hot, sit outside. The food is stellar! I got their ranch style flat enchilada, which is more or less a thick masa topped with enchilada flavors and spices. So yummy. (And it's vegetarian too!) The rest of the table (3 more) ordered the green chicken enchiladas. They didn't need to rave about it: their plates were completely clean at the end of the meal! We ordered Tamarindo and Horchata drinks between us, and frankly, the Tamarindo is some of the best I've ever had anywhere. Service can be a little slow, especially if they're busy. But we didn't really mind. It was a nice experience.

Their back patio looks super cute for warmer nights and the food was great. Little bit of a wait but the friendly servers got us sat as soon as possible at 7pm Saturday. Salsa and chips were tasty, the carne asada was excellent. The corn tortillas are thick and perfectly charred. The green enchiladas were good too. The sauce was thicker than usual, but that's probably the Native fusion instead of being just Mexican enchiladas. So glad we stopped in, we ate every bite. Forgot to take a picture until I was half through!

Honestly, I wish I could give Yaquesita a little more, maybe half a star more, because this place definitely has potential. Their flavors are good, but compared to similar restaurants the menu feels a bit overpriced. For a party of three we ended up paying around $100, which felt like a bit much for what we got. The restaurant itself is pretty small with only about 3-4 tables inside, but the patio is a decent size and has a cute vibe. It's actually a nice option on cooler days if you don't mind sitting outside. Some items were better than others. The wet-style burrito was delicious and definitely a highlight. The quesabirrias were good, however the birria felt more like fancier shredded beef. It was missing that rich, spicy, slightly acidic, earthy flavor that usually sets birria apart from barbacoa or traditional shredded beef dishes. The bowl was just okay and had lots of lettuce. It felt more like a salad with a bit of meat, rice, and beans. Honestly, Chipotle does bowls better, and that says a lot considering the price. The nachos were good, but I've had better. Seis Kitchen has amazing nachos to share. That said, it's definitely a place I'd come back to mainly out of convenience, not because one particular item on the menu won my heart. I really do hope they continue refining the menu because the flavors are there and this place could easily become a standout spot. Personally I just think at the total price of my ticket other restaurants should not even have room in my mind during my meal. If you're in the area and looking for a safe bet where everyone will probably find something they like, it's worth giving them a try.
