I've driven past here to and from Susquehanna for 30 years and never stopped. Today we did! This is an old school, friendly and home spun restaurant. Cooked to order and yet very quick. Met so many wonderful people who were dining and chatting! The tuna melt is straightforward. The Rachel is delicious.

We stopped here for lunch while on a road trip. Fern was our server and she was friendly and attentive. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. Absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked. I had mashed potatoes and gravy w/ steamed broccoli. The broccoli would need some butter and a little salt, but the texture was great. My husband ordered the bourbon salmon w/ the same size. His salmon was delicious. My daughter ordered the mushroom Swiss burger w/ fries and loved it. It is a very cozy restaurant that was very welcoming. I would return if we ever found ourselves in the area again.

I'm not a local, but I'm writing a review of a place that I stop at approximately three times a year on the way to Jersey Shore,PA to visit my sister. 2023 was a year when I visited about five times and I visited at least three times in 2022. HOMESTYLE freshly cooked entrees. Very good cold sandwiches. Their side items are large and wonderful. Wonderful waitstaff who treated me well. I will always stop here on my way to my sister's.

I'd like to give this place a five star but unfortunately the food quantity has gone down. We barely had any potatoes with our breakfast- very thinly sliced to make it look like a lot. Our waitress did not fill up waters or coffee and we had to ask multiple times. We were there at 12:30pm on a Saturday and it was dead. Otherwise, I really like this place and hope to come back and not have this issue. They have a great menu and bakery items. Plenty of seating and can accommodate large parties. We all enjoyed the food and their rye bread is legit!

Stopped at the Ranch House for breakfast during a road trip. The portions were big and fairly priced. Our server was very friendly and quick with refills on water and coffee. The cookies sold in the shop were also very good and competitively priced with similar shops.

Sometimes the best adventures involve an unexpected stop for breakfast. And sometimes that…read morebreakfast involves a sticky bun so good that you immediately start questioning why you don't eat more sticky buns. While passing through McAlisterville on our way to another adventure, my adventure buddy and I found ourselves hungry and looking for breakfast. A quick internet search led us to Bread of Life Restaurant, a family-owned establishment that's been serving home-cooked comfort food since 2003. The photos looked promising, so we decided to give it a shot! We arrived around 10:30am on a Friday morning, and goodness, was this place busy! There were still tables available, but plenty of folks were enjoying breakfast and conversation. Clearly, we weren't the only ones who thought this was a good place to start the day. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, with a relaxed, community-oriented feel. We settled in and started investigating the menu. First order of business? A sticky bun with walnuts. To share. This was non-negotiable. And it may have been the best decision we made all morning! Our sticky bun arrived warm and already cut in half, thoughtfully served on two separate plates. I absolutely loved that little touch! No awkward cutting or negotiating over who got the bigger half. Just two happy people with their own portions of sticky bun. And was it good! Perfectly soft, perfectly sweet and generously adorned with walnuts. Easily one of the best sticky buns I've had in quite a while. We were off to an excellent start! Next came the actual breakfast decisions. I'd been craving scrapple, but unfortunately, our server explained they'd been out of it for about a week. Well, shoot. So much for that plan! Fortunately, there were plenty of other options, and I quickly pivoted to scrambled egg whites, sausage and sourdough toast. My adventure buddy ordered two dippy eggs, bacon, rye toast and a tall glass of milk. When our food arrived, everything looked wonderful. Hearty portions, beautifully cooked bacon and sausage, perfectly toasted bread and eggs prepared just the way we'd ordered them. Now, breakfast isn't necessarily complicated, but I've visited enough restaurants to know that some places still manage to get it wrong. Bread of Life is NOT one of those places! Everything was delicious, satisfying and exactly what we wanted from a good, home-cooked breakfast. Our server was attentive throughout the meal, checking in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. And the best part? Our entire breakfast, including that glorious sticky bun, came to around $25! Two full bellies, a wonderful breakfast and a very reasonable bill. That's my kind of adventure fuel! Bread of Life has a Christian-themed atmosphere and a menu filled with traditional comfort food, including plenty of lunch and dinner options. I can't personally speak to those meals, but based on our breakfast experience, I'd certainly be interested in returning to investigate. If you're traveling through McAlisterville and looking for a hearty, reasonably priced breakfast in a friendly, welcoming environment, Bread of Life is absolutely worth considering. And whatever you order, do yourself a favor and get the sticky bun with walnuts. Trust me on this one. We came in hungry, left happy and headed off to our next adventure with full bellies and absolutely no regrets. Well, except maybe not ordering a second sticky bun for the road!

You entered into a very barren space up front that felt completely unfinished, and then went to the rear of the restaurant in a completely separate room to be sat. In general, the food was ok...but nothing special. It's a diner. There are several of them within just a few miles. There is nothing about this place to set it apart from any of the others...except it is the closest to my house. A few drawbacks: -most of the breakfast meals came with homefries OR toast...not both. And if you wanted to get the potatoes and order a side of toast, it was grossly overpriced. -I received the wrong meal. Turns out the waitress ordered it wrong, wasn't the kitchen's fault. In her defense, she did give me a discount on our bill. -the entire restaurant just had an "unfinished" feel to it. I didn't feel like we were sitting in a dining room. It was just a bit weird to me. Would I go back? Probably...but there are a few diners I like a lot more within a very reasonable distance. It isn't going to be my top choice for sure.

It's different to get my little one to eat anything when we go out to eat & adding additional fruit & whipped cream helped get him to try the waffle. He was not happy with the syrup. I'm not sure if maple syrup is an option. Maybe we'll ask about that next time. My eggs were perfectly cooked. The sausage links had a nice flavor & great "snap". The tater tots were crisp on the outside & soft inside. The booths have enough space between them & high enough sides to feel separation between diners and focused into your own party. The floors, seats, and tables were clean & comfortable. The artwork is large & unambiguous- photographs of food. And finally, the coffee is good!
