I had passed by this location quite a few times, but never stopped to eat. I was looking online for local Mom and Pop operations in the Conroe area. When I read the reviews about Rana's they were good, so I decided try it out. The chips and salsa were home made, and the guacamole very good. We had the Enchiladas Mexicanas and Enchiladas Sour Creme. Both were delicious. The owner and wait staff were very friendly and thanked us personally as we left. My husband and I decided to try Rana's based on the yelp reviews for dinner yesterday. Just like many others, we consider ourselves Mexican food and margarita experts and we were not disappointed! Rana's was excellent! We had house-made guacamole to start and it was delicious -chunky with right amount of salt and lime juice. The margaritas were on the rocks with a nice balance of lime and tequila. The frozen ones also looked good but we did not try them. We kept it simple with chicken fajitas as our entree. They were well-seasoned and the charro beans were also excellent! We will be back!!! read more

Great little gem in Conroe. Wonderful Mexican food that is fresh and original. Owner is usually there and extremely friendly. Always willing to answer any of your questions. Awesome food! We were going to Taco Bell next door, then we seen Rana's Mexican Grill, and we're glad we did!!! We got the Cream Burrito with Chicken & Beef fajita meats, and the Shredded Chicken Taco Salad, both were very, very good. The salsa was excellent too. The cream burrito was topped with a cheese/sour cream sauce the was sooo good. The chicken was very well seasoned which most restaurants do not do...usually grilled chicken is bland, but not here! Wow, I don't understand how someone could complain about waiting for good food. I would wait the 30 minutes every time if my food tasted that great! I got the fajitas everyone talks about and they were absolutely delicious. You can tell the guacamole is made to order because it was starting to turn brown by the time I was almost finished with it. I always tell myself to take photos but I just can't help but dig in as soon as it hits the table! I would highly recommend this place and will be back again soon. This place has some good fajita tacos but other than that there food is ok, a lot more Tex-mex foods. There service is really good and the place is always clean from the times that we have gone. They also have crawfish when the season comes around and they are great. Would recommend. read more

We were driving down 105 looking for a good, local, Mexican joint and this place caught our eye. I got the Street Tacos (mix and match you get 5) with Pastor, Asada, and Chicken, with the cilantro and onions. All three meats had great flavor. Served hot with excellent service. Traveling from Dallas to Galveston and looked to Yelp for Help on lunch spot. Rana's did not disappoint. Not far off I-45 in a little strip mall, it does have a little bit of the hole in a wall feel mentioned here. The service and food however were excellent! I did a combo plate with Beef Taco and Burrito. The burrito looked smallish compared to what I'm used to in Dallas, but both were very tasty and filled me up. My wife tried the lunch special of the day - a stuffed poblano and mixed fajitas. The poblano was very good, but the mixed Chicken & Beef Fajita with grilled veggies was the star. Careful! - that's not green bell pepper... that's strips of grilled jalapenos in the mix of onions & tomatoes. Both plates came with rice, beans and, of course, complimentary chips and tasty salsa. The manager (owner?) stopped by to check on us before we left and chatted for a moment to make sure everything was good. As tempting as the sopapillas looked, we were stuffed and needed to get back on the road. Thanks for the tip Yelpers! Great Mexican food and a pleasant experience. I love the variety of fajitas; 6 or 7 varieties. Aztec Fajitas had grilled onions, poblano, and tomatoes....a LOT of them and the seasoning was the best. Salsa is warm and very tasty. Nachos are like you find in Mexico, using fresh ingredients. And the prices are low - better than Lupe at half the price. They are on top of their service too. Ordered a simple combo platter with a cheese enchilada and a beef tostado, rice beans etc. The cheese enchilada was hard and had very little cheese in it. I've been here once before and the food was ok but the music is awesome and the service is incredible however tonight on a Friday it was very busy and my pastor were cold and charros beans were cold and tasted like canned beans.
