    Potato Gratin

This is a place you come to pay a lot of money to eat not-a-lot, which is not necessarily a bad thing, given with how obese people are. I am having a hard time judging if the rating comes more from my personal background or the actual quality of the food and experience at the Ramsay's Kitchen. It was brunch time and we weren't sure what's the we wanted to eat and we were taking Boston in with a chill vibe. The customer service was attentive and they made a lot of small talk. The interior was really nice. The restroom was quite fancy and pretty. The vibe was pretty chill, it was really not busy. We are somewhat fans of Ramsay and so were curious to try. We ordered the truffle potato gratin, which we really liked but to be honest I haven't had gratin before. The beef Wellington was really good, but it was so little of it. I felt like I barely got a bite or two of it. The lobster roll is fine, we've had much better at other restaurants in New England. We enjoyed our cocktails, but they're not the most memorable. When a waiter asks if you want tap, sparkling, or distilled water, it's a sign that you might pay $9 per bottle of water............. The more you know. We obviously don't come from a background where $9 for a bottle of pellegrino is normal when ordering at a restaurant. Overall I might consider coming here again because the food was good and the menu is varied.

We decided to treat ourselves, made a reservation, arrived by foot, and quickly seated in a window seat for two. Our server was great, we enjoyed our salads, meal, and dessert. The Caesar Salad was a little heavy on the dressing but was delicious. I probably should have ordered it with dressing on the side. I decided to try the lobster roll which was served cold but was more like room temperature and full of large pieces of lobster. The bread was buttery and toasted perfectly. The filet was cooked medium and was tender and tasty. We would definitely eat here again.

We have wanted to visit this restaurant for a long time but only make it do Boston maybe 2x a year. We took advantage of the Boston Dine Pri Fixe menu during Restaurant Week. We both started with the Lobster Bisque Appetizer and it was amazing, so smooth and flavorful with large chunks of Lobster meat, mainly tail meat. I had the Crispy Skinned Salmon and my wife got the Pasta Dish with Lobster. Both were amazing. Then came the desserts and they were totally decadent. Service was spot on from Bartenders John and Valentina and the GM even came by to chat it up with us and ask how our experience had been so far. We feel this restaurant offers so uniquely prepared dishes that won't break the bank and the service; at least our experience was fantastic.

We came here for lunch on a Monday and were seated right away, which was a nice start. We ordered the spicy pomegranate margarita, which was definitely spicy but good. For food, we had the Caesar salad, RK burger, salmon, and a kids' fried chicken sandwich. The Caesar salad was just okay and had too much dressing. The salmon was pretty good, with the sticky rice being the best part of the dish. The burger was also just okay and nothing particularly memorable. The kids' sandwich was a good portion size, though the chicken itself was somewhat bland. One positive is their kids eat free deal Monday through Friday with the purchase of an adult entrée, which is a great perk. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service, which was extremely slow. It took over 30 to 40 minutes just to get a bowl of ice cream, and both the appetizers and kids' meal took a long time to arrive as well. They did comp the ice cream, which we appreciated, but overall the experience was pretty disappointing.

It's worth a try. Ambience is elevated but comfortable. The servers were full of information and friendly/helpful. Beef Wellington and all of the desserts were delicious! I probably wouldn't go for the Lobster Bisque and Steak tartare a 2nd time.

Gordon Ramsay's restaurant was a great dining experience. The broiled branzino was excellent -- perfectly cooked and full of rich flavor. The steak was good, though not quite great. I finally tried the famous Beef Wellington; since it was my first time, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I'd rate it an A. The octopus was also tender and flavorful, a pleasant surprise. The side dishes -- broccolini, salad, and mac and cheese -- were all hits. Breakfast at Gordon Ramsay was just as impressive and a great way to start the day.

I rarely rarely fine dine and this was a good experience for me. Sometimes I wonder if the gimmicky-ness of Ramsay owning the restaurant would hinder my experience but I honestly really like it. The octopus was great tender, savory, small but it is an appetizer. Little beef Wellington and Steak Sandwhich were slightly undercooked when I had asked for medium but lucky I'm not picky. Little BW was... underwhelming... it was clear the food was under a hot plate for a bit, the mash potatoes were dry. Fish in chips were good and I liked them, they are basic but the batter was well done and portion was greattttt. The lobster pasta was sorta strange and random but I guess I can't really complain, they tried to spice it up with the ink and it was good, nothing special. The menu itself is kind of all over the place... it's weird. It touches on American (burger) hummus (middleastern), British (fish and chips). All over the place and made the menu not cohesive. We waited a pretty long time, even though we went on a Monday at 1:00pm. We were there for a good two and a half hours, unnecessarily. Our waiter was polite but we did sit around a bit waiting for the bill and she took plates before everyone was done eating. Ok overall I have a lot of negative, but the restaurant was clean, forks were heavy, and food was overall good. Would come back! But maybe not for the Wellington... Als we got the sticky toffee pudding, YUM I SO RECOMMEND

    Cannoli espresso martini

Loved the cannoli espresso martini! I asked the bartender if it was also cannoli-flavored (was worried the alcohol might ruin my love for cannolis, if so), but she reassured me that no, it just comes with one as a garnish. I had never had an espresso martini prior to this, so it was a good one to start with. Great ambiance and interior decorating. It was a little confusing to find the bathroom but thankfully my friend had been there before and showed me it's through the hotel next door.

I'm giving this place 4 stars for its overall experience but I'm going to be honest, I expected a lot more food-wise from my first Gordon Ramsay dining experience! The service was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, on beautiful Boylston in Boston right in the thick of it. The ambiance was very comfortable. The food came out reasonably quickly and was presented beautifully. For all that, four stars earned. But the food itself left something to be desired. I'll comment on the three things my wife and I tried: 1. Beef Wellington ($44) I got the "petite" beef Wellington which was a lunch portion at $44, which I found out is literally just half of the regular dinner portion which was priced somewhere over $70. I was offered the upgrade to the larger portion but since this was my first time here I opted for the smaller portion in order to test the waters. And I'm glad that I did. The beef itself was cooked nicely, wall-to-wall pink medium-rare. But the filet itself lacked a good sear and it lacked mustard flavor. And maybe it was just my portion, but it didn't come with prosciutto or crepe which are part of Gordon's traditional Wellington recipe (or so at least I thought). The mushroom duxelles was bland and also extremely wet and mushy. The pastry itself was cooked nicely and honestly was the best part of the whole dish. The potato mash was just fine, nothing special just regular mashed potatoes. The demiglace tasted extremely salty and wine-y but wasn't the most flavorful otherwise. As an amateur cook I've made beef Wellingtons by Gordon's own cookbook recipe before multiple times and I gotta say I expected a lot more out of a Ramsay's Kitchen dine-in experience. 2. Squid Ink cavatelli with lobster ($46) This dish was delicious. At $46 it was not cheap for a pasta main but that's what lobster does I guess. The squid ink pasta was delicious and tasted fresh and very al dente just how I like it. The sauce was creamy and unctuous. The lobster meat was not that plentiful, however, and most of the chunks were quite chewy and overcooked. If there were an option to get this same dish without the lobster meat but like $22 cheaper, I honestly would have gone for that. 3. Broccolini side ($12) This was an all-out winner. Did not see that coming from a veggie side dish. Cooked perfectly, nice and crunchy fresh broccolini with a delicious tart chimichurri, fried garlic chips, and pickled red onion. Very nice. For the amount of money we spent, I'd say I honestly wish we had splurged on something a few short steps over at Eataly or something nearby. Perhaps I have to try a different Ramsay location next time but to be honest I was expecting a lot more from this one. It's just kind of confusing, like bostons a big city, you know?

    Tuna Tartare*

Overall, I think this place has decent food. Especially when it comes to lunch and the prix-fixe menu. Otherwise I didn't try the prix-fixe menu. I think it would've offered the classics that you would expect from Gordon and his most famous fare. Previously, I've tried their beef Wellington, which was a bit underwhelming for me, especially as an avid Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and Masterchef watcher. This time around, I tried some of the recommended items from the waiter. The tuna tartare was probably my favorite. The fish and chips were alright. I substitute of the chips with Caesar salad, which was just OK.

Came back to Ramsay's for dine out Boston and it was just as delicious as the first time! Still thinking about those buns and the beef wellington.

Passed by Ramsey's Kitchen so many times and always meant to stop in, finally did on a random lunch day, and it was a really lovely experience. Service was a bit slow and a couple of orders got mixed up, but they were super apologetic, which we appreciated. I loved my steak sandwich, and of course we couldn't resist making a few idiot sandwich jokes. My group and I decided splitting a Beef Wellington felt only right. The crowd was a mix of people, I couldn't quite pin it down, but it added to the charm. Overall, a great stop.

It was Joe's birthday which we celebrated on Saturday in advance of the snowstorm. He had the petit Beef Wellington, Caroline had a pancake and avocado toast, and I had the burger. They were excellent, and just the right portion size for lunch. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake and the chocolate tart, and the staff made it festive with a chocolate birthday greeting and candle. The wait staff was attentive, and the manager came to check on how we enjoyed everything (which we did). We liked the fact that the tables were not too close to one another, allowing for some privacy. The restaurant is convenient to Newbury St. stores and just a block from the Prudential Center shops.

Ramsay's Kitchen Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Ramsay's Kitchen

Is Monday night or Wednesday night quieter, less busy at Ramsey's Kitchen in Boston? What is the best night of the week for the best possible experience?

Well I was there on a Friday night and the place was not on fire . Atmosphere was nice and the food was amazing . Try to do an early dinner less traffic ...enjoy let me know

    Is there a kids menu?

I wish they did, but unfortunately they do not and very limited options for kids. I brought three of my kids there and the bill came out pretty hefty. Some of their dishes are a good size so you can share with a young one (age 9 and below). My…

Do they still serve beef wellington during lunch?

Hi Alan, we are only serving our Beef Wellington during Dinner Service at this time.

Is there outdoor seating during the warmer months? And is the restaurant wheelchair-accessible?

No there is no outdoor seating and I think it is wheelchair accessible

Is only the Thanksgiving menu available on Thanksgiving day or is the normal dinner menu available as well?

Hi Cathy, Limited a la carte menu items will be available alongside our Thanksgiving dinner menu.

My wife left her purse at the restaurant but nobody ever picks up the phone. I have called numerous times. What do I do?

Hi David, email your contact information to guestrelations@grna.com and we connect with the restaurant team to get your wife’s purse back!

How do I confirm my reservation? No one answers the phone and the contact page on the website does not submit because you need an event date, the event date does not take no matter what date I use.

Do yourself a favor. Don't bother. Food was mediocre

What do I do if I lost the email confirmation for reservation and how do I reply to you with my name and email address, when I can't return an answer?

Hi Kimberly, I can resend that to you, can you give me the name on the reservation?

If a reservation is for 9:45 and the restaurant closes at 10, will be still be served the full menu?

Hi Caroline, yes, you will be able to order off the entire dinner menu at your reservation time. We look forward to seeing you!

    Is there free parking?

No. There is valet at the hotel, cost me $32 + tip on a Sunday lunch. There is limited on street meter parking and other garage parking options.

Can I order beef Wellington for lunch? Do I need to make reservation for the beef Wellington?

No. It's on they menu . But order as soon as You can and let them know that you are needing to leave at a certain time.

Kid friendly 4 year old and 13 year old?

Absolutely! We look forward to seeing you and your family!

Is there a dress code for lunch?

No dress code. Saw someone there in a hoodie and someone in a suit

Would it be ok to book a reservation for just myself?

    Of course!

What time does the lunch menu start?

The lunch menu is served from 11 am to 4 pm!

    How strict is dress code?

I would say there is no dress code. We wore jeans. It didn't seem like a so sophisticated environment when a dog wouldn't stop barking. Then the lady took it out her bag to calm it down and to take pictures with it. Weird to let a dog in the…

Does the restaurant offer accommodations, specifically a dedicated fryer for guests that are allergic to gluten, dairy, seeds and nuts?

I would assume no. Our vegetarian was warned the French fries are done in the same fryer as the meat. So there is definitely cross-contamination.

Is the full menu available at the bar or is there a bar menu?

    Yes very much so!!

    Is the meat halal?

Hi Naadiya, At this time, none of the meat we serve at Ramsay’s Kitchen is halal.

Do I need a reservation or do they take walk ins?

During lunch you can walk into the bar side if early enough besides that online reservations early in the week and day better alot of their nights are now fully booked for a few months

I directed me to Wig Shop, and said that Wig Shop even has a cocktail named in honor of John Gertsen, Boston's much-missed (he's in SF, last I knew) founding bartender at Drink and Number Nine Park. Wig Shop did not disappoint: fabulous cocktails, an easygoing vibe (my two buddies and I were able to chat without yelling from 8pm until 11:30), comfortable banquettes (with, incidentally, backs that are high enough to be supportive but low enough that you can spread out your arms on them), and wonderful service. The service, in particular, lives up to the "cocktail nerd" aspect that the LLM highlighted: our server knew the drinks backwards and forwards, and knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned the drink in Gertsen's honor. I'd recommend this place to cocktail nerds, and to anyone who wants to have a drink and chat with friends. We'll be back soon.

Inside decor is cute! Our server Jacob was great, and food was DELICIOUS!!! Highly recommend the Caviar 30g, New England Lobster Roll (both warm or cold, although I preferred the warm more) and Lobster Fra Diavolo (so flavorful OMG!) We also enjoyed the Raw Oysters, Hamachi Tiradito, Caesar Salad, and Day Boat Fish & Chips. Pro tip: try eating an oyster with caviar, it's to die for! For drinks, we got the Mimosa Bar ($200) which came with a huge 1.5L Prosecco bottle & three bottles of different juices--this was enough for five people! For dessert, the Raspberry Caramel Madeleines were okay--we were celebrating a birthday so they put a candle on the dessert for her.

If there is, let me know. For now, I'll stick with Saltie Girl, where I relished a fantastic clam chowder with a hint of olive oil, and a plate of moules frites of which I left no shell un-eaten. Thanks to my dining companion's generosity, I was also able to sample their wonderful lobster roll served on a soft buttery bun. Wash all that down with a crispy rosé and you have the makings of a PERFECT afternoon. Thank you SALTIE GIRL!!!

And can we give a shout out to our waiter, Xavier? TOP TIER! He knew the menu inside and out, handled all of my little isms and skisms without missing a beat, and was attentive from beginning to end. The hospitality was unmatched. The entire @wink_and_nod experience was beautiful. The speakeasy is chic, the atmosphere is a vibe, the bathrooms were spotless, and the service was exceptional. My order of yogurt with fruit and granola was fresh, filling and a yummy beginning to my day. My coffee was equally enjoyed, and note that it's $13 for each small coffee pot. Refills are not complimentary. I loved my window table on this rainy morning, and the lovely, cozy ambiance of The Street Bar. It's easy to see why this is such a sought after bar each evening.

In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.

This is my second time coming to Gigi!…read more Every time when I'm in Boston it will be a tradition from now on. Our server, Leo, was very friendly, and he helped us pick what to get. We ordered their special of the day: the fried zucchini tempura, cod, and veal vodka spaghetti, as well as the rice meatballs, regular meatballs, and the alla vodka rigatoni. Everything tasted phenomenal. The setting was so cozy and it's always a wonderful time in this space. Make sure to book a reservation, because it's impossible to get a walk in table, even on a rainy day!

They have indoor seating & outdoor "patio" seating. We started off the meal with drinks! We ordered the limoncello spritz & the pistachio martini. The limoncello spritz tasted refreshing & like a sparkling lemon/limeade with a hint of honey. The pistachio martini was very creamy & tasted sweeter at the end of each sip. We shared two appetizers: the arancini and the calamari fritti. We LOVE calamari & always end up ordering it at every restaurant we visit that has it on their menu. We liked the presentation but wished that the calamari was crispier. The batter is thicker + unseasoned & was fried lightly. The two sauces definitely helped here. We enjoyed the arancini much more than the calamari, though that's not to say the calamari was bad haha. The arancini was just a better bite! I loved that they were crispy, cheesy, + quite flavorful. I highly recommend getting the arancini appetizer. As for entrees, we each ordered a pasta. We did the rigatoni alla vodka & chitarra alla vongole. I'm a big fan of white wine pastas with clams & have to say this one was GOOD! Very flavorful actually, while still tasting light. The sauce had a smokey garlic flavor that I really liked! They gave a lot of clams too, so I was pretty happy with my choice in ordering this dish. The rigatoni alla vodka is perhaps their most popular dish and what our server suggested instead of getting the bolognese. We thought it was just okay. It doesn't come with any protein, just pasta + sauce but it wasn't memorable. I'd say, maybe try the other pasta dishes they have before getting the rigatoni alla vodka. Overall, it wasn't a great meal! The highlights for me were the arancini and the chitarra alla vongole. I think I would come back again to try more dishes & although service was a bit slower (with how busy it was), our server was kind & helpful! Prices were on par with other Italian restaurants in/out of the city. Parking: street parking

That being said, you get to order three more drinks from their cocktail menu that range from lighter to more spirit forward, ending with more dessert type cocktails. All the drink flavors were so unique and a fun twist. The food was actually very substantial. Good flavors as well. Our favorite dishes were the lamb cigars (large egg roll shape with eggplant and spices) and the whole branzino. Everything was good though.
