    Green Omlette

It was the first time I tried this place. I heard good things drom my friends. Ambiance - 3/5: it is a very small place so the spots are tight. It's an open kitchen so that you can see the chef preparing and cooking food. They have a shelf of ingredients and mini models of the old movie players. There are 2 bathrooms and can be used by all genders. One of them is an accessibility washroom. The bathroom is clean. Service - 2/5: we were seated very quicky and it was relatively quiet when we got there. It started filling up later on. The service overall was very slow. The food took 30-45 mins to arrive. Many customers were waiting too and looking bored. Initially there was 1 cook, then there was 2 and the food was still being cooked slowly. By the time the food came, my partner's coffee was finished. Food - 3/5: we ordered the green omlette and the morning frankfurter. Both came with a greens salad and tri-colored home fries (regular potatoes, purple potatoes and yams). The salad was ok, the balsamic vinegar is sweeter than usual. The home fries was lightly salted. The omlette came with a choice of toast. I chose buttered rye. It was very dry with a small amount of butter in the center of the rye. I thought the green omlette was going to come out green but it's a regular omlette. It has cheese on it but it didn't add to the omlette. The hotdog was not bad, the spicy mayo on the sausage was tolerable. Overall: 2.75/5

I visited today and it felt like a pretty mediocre brunch experience but it had the appeal of being connected to Hillcrest Mall and plenty of parking. Walked in at 10:45am on a Sunday and got the last indoor table for 4. Was told we had a 75min seating limit, which was fine because the food came in a timely manner. Overall, nothing stood out among all of the dishes that we ordered. The chicken waffle was a bit dry in my opinion - the accompanying "maple barbecue sauce" had a kick of heat and was oddly paired so I didn't enjoy it very much. I would've preferred if they just gave me plain maple syrup. It also didn't come with any mixed greens or vegetables so felt a bit lacking for $24. Portions were reasonable but not generous by any means. The strawberry french toast and crab cake benny were also pretty standard - nothing particularly noteworthy. Given their slightly higher price point for brunch service, I think I'd rather try someplace new next time.

I've been to Ramona's Kitchen original thornhill location in the past. This was my first time coming to this location. I brought my gf and the wait was around 20-25 min (don't quote me but I don't think they take reservations for brunch). Visitors put their name down and can then take a stroll through the mall before getting a call when their table's ready. IIRC, this unit used to house a starbucks. It's very cozy (actually verging on tight tbh lol). If you're coming for brunch or breakfast prepare for it to be absolutely packed. Menu-wise, the selection is expansive and there's a lot of choice. My gf's crab cakes benny were cooked perfectly. The crab cakes were crispy, the hollandaise was creamy and the shrimps were juicy. I ordered the dad's breakfast and loved that I was able to get my eggs poached at no extra charge. The strawberries french toast that came on the side was A+ as well! Overall, I think this location is almost as good as the original. The service was great, the food was fresh, dish presentation was cute and the wait time wasn't too bad! A very solid brunch spot! I've never been to Ramona's for dinner but perhaps I'll be back in the future to try that dinner menu.

Located at Hillcrest mall, this cute café offers brunch dishes at affordable prices. There is typically a waitlist to get inside of ~25min. The waiting staff took out number to call us back but wrote down the incorrect phone number, however when we went back to check, they were able to seat us right away. The service wasn't out of the ordinary and the dishes were mediocre - looked nicer than they tasted. I wish the potatoes and salad dressing was more flavourful as they ran bland and dry, and the hollandaise sauce was flavourless. A+ for convenience but lacked in flavour. I ordered the southwest eggs benedict which came on sweet potato instead of toast which I enjoyed. They also don't allow substitutions for any dishes on the menu. The iced coffee was lackluster and waterdowned with ice at $3. Would not recommend.

Came for Sunday brunch!!! Got there early, so parking was plentiful! Farmers markets just outside of the mall. The restaurant was smaller than I thought, it was cozy though. Like really cozy, right up next to the next table cozy. Food was good, good portions. I was satisfied. Service was good, the servers and greeters were amazingly friendly and nice. Yeah I would come back if I'm in the area, it was nice. It does get busy though, so come early, get your food and walk it off after in the mall

This restaurant locates in Hillcrest Mall, and is quite close to a mall entrance. I went to the mall with my husband and our baby son the other day and decided to give this place a try. Noticeably this restaurant allows the stroller to be in. The service we had was great - our baby started crying shortly after we were seated. Our waitress brought us hot water so that we could gently warm the milk to feed the baby (picky eater he was, he refused to drink room temperature milk!). Really appreciated the help we received. The hot water normally would come with a cost ($2) though we had the water for free. Admittedly I was surprised that now even hot water became a chargeable item...when did this start? Food was quite mediocre, unfortunately. We ordered pesto pasta and fish & chips. The pasta tasted greasy as there was the very unnecessary addition of mozzarella cheese lumps on top of the oil-based pesto sauce. The pesto itself was also not tasty at all - the herbs were heated and lost the color and aroma. Fish & chips seemed okay at first glance, but it turned out the fish pieces were very small and dry. Fries were fine though.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

We had the soy sauce wok fried chicken rice noodle, which is what I usually love. They had just barely enough wok hay. They use chicken leg meat and not chicken breast slices, so there isn't a lot of meat but the taste was decent. The duck tasted ok, but the flavour was a little mild (and I have a very simple palate). It was ok. The skin was excellent though! The YC fried was huge. Overall good taste, but the BBQ pork was a tad too sweet for me. I prefer Auric King's BBQ pork instead. The guy server was super nice and attentive. He asked for feedback and suggestions. We suggested an "all day meal" menu like the traditional hk cafe. The vibe is very 80s Hong Kong style. Very aesthetic, like Garden Cafe, who also does the same style. Check out my interior pics to see! Tables and bowls are a little sticky though lol. Overall, I might come back when they have an all day menu. I see most people ordering noodles, probably because the portions aren't as massive. As of right now, they have the white menu for non members, which is BOGO half off. Also, $30 for lifetime VIP.

It was hearty and flavorful! The eggs were very runny and I used the English muffins and delicious garlic home fries to soak it all up! The music is a bit loud and reminded me of club/lounge music, not a chill jazz relaxing brunch atmosphere. Service was slow and the kitchen even slower. When the hostess sat us at our reserved table, she brought up the 90 minute seating rule. Our food didn't come out until the hour mark, so come prepared for hungry or little ones. The Korean french toast has an amazing crunch on the outside and super moist and soft brioche inside. The four slices looked big but was very easy to demolish. PB & J Hamburger was interesting! That is definitely a brunchy sounding dish and it did not disappoint. It was a delicious, messy, goopy burger with so much flavour. Burrata arugula salad with long thin strips of prosciutto was very light. The fig wedges were sweet and this dish was a great starter without being too heavy. Biscoff Latte is always a pleaser; bit of a strange glassware choice for a hot beverage as it has no handles.
