We were afraid that our stroller would block the walkway but she said she planned to seat diners in the other area instead. So glad and appreciative of her gesture and accommodation. Place was spacious and clean. We ordered the Roast Beef Dinner and Third Rack BBQ Back Ribs. Food was good and hot, and just like typical Swiss Chalet. However, you can do both at this shared drive-thru. Years ago, I dined in and got a quarter chicken dinner. The seating wasn't great. It was like going to a food court. The tables seemed temporary and cheap, as did the chairs. I did enjoy my food, though. I recently fetched the festive family meal for my parents and me. It's a ritual for us, especially when I'm not in town to make Christmas dinner. This festive meal consisted of stuffing that was more moist than it should have been. We got a whole chicken that was cut into quarters, so it united dark and white meat eaters. It came with chalet sauce and cranberry sauce. We got four sides (salad, mashed potatoes, corn, and a baked potato). It also came with four dinner rolls, four boxes of Lindt chocolates, cranberry sauce, and scratch-and-win cards. I picked it up by going into the eatery. It looked cozier and much nicer than I had expected! I had already paid online, so I basically showed the woman my order at the counter and got my goods. There is plenty of parking at this plaza. This eatery is across from RBC. I drove to my parents' place to feast. The only downside was that the place forgot the chalet dressing for the salad. Tragic. I love the salad dressing. We made due with Olive Garden salad dressing, which worked rather well. Everyone enjoyed their food. My parents don't like cranberry sauce. I dig it, so I was happy to get it all. The chicken was delicious. It was moist and juicy. There was more than enough chalet sauce for all of us. My dad likes white meat. My mom prefers dark. I flip between the two. I like chicken. My mom liked the baked potato. We all split the salad, mashed potatoes with gravy, and corn. I like Lindt chocolates. My parents took two boxes. I took the other two. I still have a bunch left. I was good eating one chocolate a day until I headed to the States. You get five different ones in each box. The two other Denny's that I have frequented in the greater Toronto area are the Mississauga (Courtneypark) and Pickering locations. They were fine, but this one in Woodbridge is amazing in comparison. This eatery is on the south side of Highway 7, in a plaza that's anchored by a Tim Hortons - Wendy's combo store. Wednesday was my first time setting foot in this plaza. I found a parking spot steps away from this Denny's entrance. I backed my car into it and walked in. I was immediately greeted by the sweetest woman. I asked if I could get a table. She said to choose any booth where I'd like to sit. I chose a booth and I sat looking out the window. I got a laminated menu. I leafed through it. My usual order at Denny's when I feel like breakfast for dinner is the following: - French toast slam - Diet Coke I got my Diet Coke. It was cold and yummy. I was so thirsty that I ended up having a couple of refills. My French toast slam consisted of three slices of French toast, sausage, bacon, and two eggs. I got the eggs over-easy, which was how I used to take them before I got into over-medium and scrambled. It didn't take long for my food to arrive on two plates. The proteins were on one plate. The French toast was on the other. I squirted a blob of ketchup next to my sausage links. I like this combination, although I can do without ketchup if I don't have access to any. My slam was excellent. The eggs were perfect. The yolks were runny and yummy. The bacon was crisp. The sausage links were delicious. I am a French toast fan. They were so good, especially with maple syrup on them. This meal hit the spot. My server was incredibly attentive with my drink refills. I asked for the bill once I was done and she didn't hesitate to find the payment machine. I tipped and tapped, letting her know that the food was delicious. She smiled and seemed genuinely happy to hear it. She does remember regulars who come here. I liked her rapport with a man maybe a bit younger than I am who has been going through a lot of health issues. I appreciated her humanness and empathy. I used the washroom before I left. A man with his son came here and sat in the booth next to mine. They visited the washroom twice, which helped me figure out that it was straight back, to the right of the kitchen. I became a fan. At that point, few sub chains toasted their bread. Scrubway (Jennifer P. needs to copyright it, as I use it all the time now) didn't do it. Neither did Mr Sub. When I moved back to the GTA, there were a few Quiznos stores nearby. One was where my local Scrubway is, roughly five minutes away. The other one was closer to my workplace at the time, at McCowan and Sheppard Avenue East in Scarborough. Both are long gone. Frankly, the only Quiznos that I dropped by recently was on Bay Street, a few blocks away from Scotiabank Arena. I'd go there for a quick bite before a concert. The other evening, I was driving from Canadian Tire to Song Tea along Woodbine Avenue. My head turned when I saw the Quiznos sign to my left. Where have I been and why hadn't I ever noticed this sign? I kept thinking about it. I decided to fetch dinner here last Saturday. After getting my bubble tea, I drove over to this eatery. This Quiznos is in a plaza, a couple of doors down from Mi Ne Sushi, a place that I frequented perhaps eight years ago or so. I found a parking spot halfway down the row of parked cars and backed into it. I walked in and got a woman who said hi. She was busy preparing an order. I saw her fill a container with soup. You can dine in. However, tables and seating are limited. Once she was finished with that order, she focused solely on me. My usual subs are the black angus steak and mesquite chicken. I deviated from both when I saw the beef and swiss melt. I got a foot-long on rosemary parmesan bread. She asked me whether I was good with mushrooms. Yes, said the mushroom freak. Oh, how I have missed being at a Quiznos. I like seeing my sandwich go through the toasting conveyor and come out looking all yummy. I paid with a credit card. This place only accepts credit and debit cards. She wrapped up my sub and handed it over in a bag. I thanked her and left happy with sub in hand. My car smelled so good as I drove home. The only reason I didn't devour my sub was because it was in the backseat and I couldn't reach it while driving. It's a good strategy if you don't have any willpower. I had my sub when I got home. I devoured the whole thing. I normally do an 8" sub, but I was hungry. I'm so glad I went big. The sub looked narrower than I recall. Then again, I have had Jersey Mike's Subs these days that they look gigantic compared to any sub out there. I loved the beef and swiss melt. The beef was tender, juicy, and yummy. The swiss cheese was the perfect amount and was melty delicious. The mushrooms were yummy although this mushroom fanatic would have enjoyed more of them. The bread was excellent toasted. I am more a fan of Mr Sub, Quiznos, and Jersey Mike's. Yesterday, my dad was at Subway to grab lunch for himself and my mom, and decided to get me some food, too. He dropped it off at my door. So, technically, he was my surprise delivery person with a surprise lunch. I had to frankly guess what he got me. I am guessing that it was steak and cheese. The steak was chopped up, so it wouldn't have been roast beef that would likely be slices. Then again, I hadn't been to Subway for over a decade, so things could have changed. I also tasted mozzarella cheese. I felt like I was doing a blind tasting. I am happy to report that I didn't get olives in my sub. My dad used to ask for olives and they are not my thing.
