What an interesting place. Went to see our favorite band, this was our first time at this venue. We sat right by the dance floor and it was comfortable. Drinks were pricey. The band is always great but the people watching was the best. I haven't seen that many plastered people in one spot in a very long time. But not a young crowd either. I was wrongfully accused by security of taking barstools into the theater during a Journey tribute concert. Thing is, I caught the end argument as the wife was defending me. This was not cool as we were having a good time. Security was doing their job to get stools back to the main bar. The optic though was they were targeting minorities. So be cautious of staff and relations during these emboldened times. read more

Do not recommend that this place continue to hold events with not enough room or seats. The security team first brought bar stools to help accommodate guests and then went around during the concert taking them back, accusing ticket-buyers of wrongly moving them from the front of the bar. Wow, our visit to the Ramona Mainstage was such a horrible experience - one I hope others do not have to have: * For a venue/setting that should hold, maybe, 100 people, they crammed what must have been more than 3-400. * Although we pre-reviewed pictures of the Mainstage and saw seating throughout, this was not the case * The build of this place is not good - the floor and even the front stage are evenly level with one another. Only those in the very front are able to see the stage * Although it was listed in some places that there is (bar type) food, there was none. The drinks - ridiculously priced Since my party could not see a single minute of the event, we finished our overly priced drinks and left within 30 minutes of entering the building. To say the least, we will not be revisiting for this (MicroMania) event or any other event. I have passed Ramona Mainstage many times on my way to Julian and didn't quite wonder what it was like inside. Well, I picked up tickets for Extreme Dwarfanators Wrestling at Mainstage and finally got inside! When you first enter theres a beautiful walls to ceiling mural depicting SD county. The place looks like it may have been recently restored. They have a full bar but unfortunately that was pure anarchy. There were no such things as lines and people who were waiting patiently for half an hour to get a beer were cut off. People would walk right up to the bar from the side past all the waiting patrons and the bartenders would immediately serve them rather than asking them to get in line. It was pretty ridiculous. Inside the venue though is a big high ceilinged auditorium with many tables and some tiered standing/seating levels. Most of the place is standing room though. The place itself was awesome aside from the terrible bar service. read more

Too rednecky, but that is to be expected in Ramona. Too many women dressed like cheap hookers, and acting like it. This place sells alcohol, yet I have seen kids inside that look like they're younger than 10 years old. Some of the bands that play here are quite good. I guess it's all in a day's work. read more

Saw midget wrestling with son. They opened about 5 min after scheduled time. No big deal, but it's scheduled to be a 7pm show. It's 8:07 and still hasn't started. This place is so packed that you can't see unless you are in the cram zone in front of the stage. I don't know if they have an AC, but I guarantee the fire Marshall isn't doing his job tonight. There have to be at least 400+ people in here. Even if this is the greatest show of all time, it's not worth it. Hot, music is too loud and oxygen is fading. The venue is nice. Small but spacious, clean, plenty of seating options, they serve food, at the bar section or in the hall, at your table. You can move freely in front of the stage then back to your seat. The feeling is very "homey", plenty of local friendly patrons, large and clean bathrooms. The sound quality is OK. Not phenomenally great but very decent. They have a full bar with "venue prices" however they don't offer premium acts thus you can't justify such high bar prices. 0 stars, even though the staff was very friendly. Food is mediocre (BBQ) at best, sides are clearly supermarket food, over-priced. I'd rate venue: 4 stars. Food: 2 stars. Drinks (price-wise): 0 stars. Now... The show was supposed to consist of 1 opener, then the main act. With doors opening at 7, I assumed the main act would start at 8:30, maybe 9. They started at 10:35pm... with 2 additional openers (cheap cover bands...) people were actually starting to leave when the main act started... This is very disrespectful for paying customers especially when we buy overpriced drinks while waiting... Not sure if it's a venue issue or a band problem but... in the end it profits the bar. read more

This venue sucks! They open doors late every single time! No seating, so prepare to stand. Seating is offered to disabled and people willing to pay an outrageous fee for a booth. Complete rip-off! Cover bands are not worth the standing time or the $250 booth fee. Wear comfortable shoes! read more

This is a great venue! The sound of the Queen cover band was very good, as acoustics of the place is top notch. The bar area was nice, but would've been nice if they had seats. They serve very large beers and the choices are decent.. They are a bit too large to hold though, so I put mine down and it got spilled. It appears they get some pretty good acts too, as evidenced by the photos I took of some upcoming acts. There is pretty good restaurant attached. read more

Great intimate venue but nowhere to sit. Had to stand outside to get in for over an hour and once inside, had to stand another 3+ hours for the show. If u want the few seats at a booth, they cost an additional huge fee per person ($40 additional I believe on top of ticket prices) and u had to buy the table of 4. (I was there with just 2 of us) the show was fun but they need to offer people a place to sit that's included with the ticket price. Well, I'm a believer! This venue was absolutely not on my radar before this, and I certainly wouldn't have chosen to see a show here (RahMOANah?!), had it not been forced on us (we paid to see Lynch Mob at Brick by Brick, but it was moved to Ramona with no notice to those who bought tickets online, and no explanation on their website). Kudos to Ramona Mainstage for taking the show when the original venue petered out, and for honoring the tickets bought through Brick by Brick. I wasn't too thrilled by the fact that the show had been moved, and to such a distant location to boot, but a quick Yelp search helped to ease a few of my fears, at least. Doors were supposed to open at 7 that night, and we showed up right around that time. There was no street parking in front of the venue, so we hung a right at the first side street and pulled into the parking lot there. We were met by a young man who told us that we couldn't park there, as the lot was solely for the café next door, and that we had to park on the street. What the hell? We did a lap around the block, and found some decent parking not too far away from the entrance. I was a little annoyed, but I guess the restaurant gets super-packed on a Saturday night, and they wanted to ensure their customers had a place to park...? Still strange to me - they could have made some good cash off of the Mainstage patrons, but whatever. So yeah - I said above that doors were supposed to open at 7, but they didn't really open till 7:20. No big deal, really, but it is worth noting. The venue itself was surprising. I saw on the website that they had a pretty large (and very prominent) bar right when you walk inside, and that there were booths along the walls and a good table/chairs seating area in the middle, with a small standing-room-only floor right in front of the stage. I was expecting it to be bigger, but I really did like the size - it was way more intimate than I thought it'd be, and that was a huge benefit for the night. I admit I know nothing about the history of this venue, but it gives off this sweet classic-movie-theater vibe. Between the "concessions stand" up front, the gently sloping floors in the main area, the "projection booth" at the back of the room and the vintage-style sconces on the wall, it all just screamed "Converted Theater!" Not that it was bad in any way; I actually really loved that charm. The space is clean, and never got to feel too crowded. You can get right up to the stage, if you're so inclined (I'm used to having a bar or some barrier between the stage and the front of the crowd, so there were a few times where I was thanking my lucky stars that I'm short-ish, as a couple more inches would've put me in danger of getting smacked in the dome by either Eric Sardinas' or George Lynch's guitars...) We only bought booze while we were there, and I can say that I appreciated that the beer prices weren't overly inflated, like I've seen at places like Key Club or House of Blues. Plus, the bartenders were genuinely friendly, and quick. That helps a lot when the doors open 20 minutes later than they said they would. ;) One last thing - I love that this venue gives new and local bands a chance to play out to a crowd of paying customers. Taking a chance on the bands that are trying to get their name and music out there is huge, and I think Ramona Mainstage deserves kudos for that. read more

I'm not surprised at all at the bad reviews below. Let's just cut to the quick, management has no idea how customer service works. Apparently they had internet issues and couldn't let people in until they had it back up and running. It was a chilly 40 degrees while we waited in line and they had people wait for FIFTY minutes in line before they got the internet back up. How does it take an hour to get internet back up and running? (are they running on AOL dial up? It's 2020 for Pete's sake) If it was around the corner from my house I would have gotten out of line and said screw it. But since I drove over 30 minutes from San Diego, I figured I was already there, just stick it out. Once the line started moving, I get to the box office to get my ticket and they charged me $5 extra for buying day of show and another $5 for using my card. That's a JOKE. It doesn't cost that much to run my card. The whole place is one giant money trap. As I went to pay, the computer had an issue and I had to wait another five minutes until it could restart and they could take my payment. Management should have apologized for the wait and given patrons one free drink or waived the CC fee for waiting outside in the cold for that long. Simple gestures like this keeps customers happy. Once I got inside, the keg for the one of the beers tapped out. You've had an hour while we waited outside! How do you not make sure all your ducks are in a row behind the bar!? $15 for a beer and then in turn the second and same beer was $20 because the bartender accidentally charged the wrong price and was making up for it. Buddy, if you think I'm tipping you, you're mistaken! As I said before, the place is one giant money trap. From what I've heard, the owner is a huge douche, and I believe it because it shows! The stage itself is cringeworthy. Scratched up and honestly looks like a middle school's auditorium. The owner is charging an arm and a leg to have a night out, he can certainly afford some renovations to the stage and lighting. He's clearly just frugal. That was the first and last time I will ever go to this establishment. I will also be telling everyone I know, to not go here. There are plenty other good venues in San Diego with actual acts, not cover bands (especially for $25 a ticket). I think the BBB will also be hearing from me. A $5 charge for running the CC is outrageous and should be looked into. The staff is not good at their job which in turn is because the management and ownership are no better and everything rolls down hill. I hope this place gets shut down as I'm surprised it hasn't already. read more

This place rocks! I can't believe I haven't been here before. All of my friends have been coming here for years and it took free tickets to an Ozzy/Metallica/Rush show, to get the whole family and a cousin in the truck and on our way. This awesome theater has friendly bartenders, friendly patrons, Plenty of parking, plenty of clean restrooms, and lots of good seats and booths. Lots seating is what sets this place aside from other venues. There are booths on the perimeter of the hall and some small tables and chairs available. After 1 year still no contact or refund. They should be reviewed by whatever governing board for their business license for fraud and theft. The website request for refund due to cancelled shows is a gimmick and nothing but a black hole. Based on the recent reviews, it appears even during business they're thieves. Their liquor license should also be audited. Everyone who was scammed should get together and come forward with their complaints and actually report them. I will be doing it. read more

Should be no stars. A bunch of thieves! I attended a show here and paid my $120 tab on a credit card. Checked my bank statement 2 days later and was charged double that amount. Over $370. I tried to resolve this with them, called and could not leave a message on their full voicemail. I sent multiple Facebook messages as well as sent multiple emails to obtain a copy of my itemized receipt which I was not given while I was there and over 2 weeks later no response. Show got cancelled, didn't get a refund. Had to call my bank to reverse the charges because this place wasn't about to step up and do the right thing. This place booked a show with some pretty well-known musicians and then it got cancelled. Why? Did they not sell any tickets? Did they fail to promote the show? I have no idea, but it was pretty weird to show up there the night of the show to find the place completely empty and closed up. Even weirder to not get any response to my request for a refund. Of course, I won't be purchasing any more tickets to any shows at this place, it reeks of a SCAM. I'd advise everyone to be super cautious in dealing with this place.
