    a band performing on stage
    Chaudhry A.

The performance was extraordinary for which I was here. Quite an auditorium however compact seating which makes a bit uncomfortable to adjust for a couple of hours. A few seating levels and I was up close. Being too close to the stage has its own pros and cons. A better view would've been in the middle of the hall. Staff there was very helpful and was making sure that the audience will enjoy their time.

    Iration 91X VIP show

We were here for the 91x VIP Iration show, and I was impressed by the theater. It isn't easy to find, accessible only from the escalator or elevators, and at the far end of the 3rd floor smoking slots. The theater is very small, and it definitely is "up close". It doesn't look like there would really be a bad seat in the house, unless maybe in the extreme corners. The small size may mean that you are paying a higher ticket price for the show, to make the artist's minimum. I was sitting first row, right, on the aisle. It is a little low compared to the stage level, so you might be better sitting a few rows back so you're not craning your neck. My seat was great until everyone stood in front of me, blocking my view until I too stood up. Just know that this is a possibility. I will definitely be more likely to look at the shows coming to L&UC, now that I've seen it.

My only suggestion would be to open up a little earlier so that people could start eating before the show instead of during the show. We'll definitely be back!! This club brings nightlife to Escondido!!!

My Dad was a stand-up comedian, so I grew up going to shows. I have very specific ideas about what makes a good experience. I like the new location for some reasons like easier parking, inside lineup which is good in cold or rainy weather, etc. It's still small on the scale of some clubs, so you won't be too far away from the action. Usual two-item minimum, which is standard. They kept the pizza menu from before, so decent options for food. My friends ordered breadsticks, and those were pretty good. My usual at comedy is a dessert and a coke, so I tried the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. It was good, a large portion, and the raspberry helped cut through the intense chocolate flavor. It looked like a much better deal than the piece of cheesecake that the next table ordered. They have free offers for people on the mailing list from time to time, and some larger name comedians. Our show was postponed last-minute, so they gave us free admission to the replacement show.

Oh what a night! It's an absolute must!…read more Absolutely love this comedy show!!!!! I've come here regularly over the last 10 years or so and have seen amazing comics such as Mark Christopher Lawrence, Jerrod Carmichael, Anjelah Johnson, Cheeto Santino, Jonny Loquasto, Michael Kosta, Melissa Villaseñor, Alonzo Bodden, Shawn Pelofsky, Tony Baker, Adam Ray, Jesse Egan, Zoltan Kaszas, Mal Hall, and so many more! For the price, it's priceless. No drink minimums, stellar atmosphere, and just an overall great place to bring a date, a friend, or even your parents. I've seen bachelor/bachelorette parties, coworker gatherings, and a slew of birthdays all being celebrated here. Honestly there's not a lot of better places to spend 7-30pm-9:30pm on a Friday night (shows are typically once a month on the last Friday of the month). Head downtown, grab some dinner, come to the show, and then you can party the night away in the beautiful Gaslamp Quarter. If you're up for a night of LAUGHS come here and you won't be disappointed! Check online below for details and tickets. I think the next show is 09-24-21. https://malhall.com/gaslamp-comedy-show HUUUUGE thanks to Mal Hall and The Tipsy Crow.

I've been wanting to check out another show with him for awhile so I was excited when I saw The Gaslamp Comedy Show featured on his Instagram. We had a rotating group of fresh, upcoming comedians who were working out their material. We were an intimate group and it was a different experience watching them quickly pivot or adjust based on how the crowd was interacting with the jokes. 5/5, we'll definitely be back.

The inside dining room and bar is cozy and decorated with posters from musical acts. Tavern is popular before shows and we go early on weeknights to beat the crowds and enjoy the food. The menu is reasonably priced. The tasty pan seared lemon and butter scallops on linguine was $29. The lobster tacos are $28, with the lobster chunks in a bowl with a subtle tomato sauce, and choice of torillas, with Spanish rice and black beans. Tavern has a full bar and a short but excellent wine list, reasonably priced, and mostly from California. Wines by the glass start at $11 and go to $14. A bottle of William Hill, Central Coast, Chardonnay, wsa $42 and the Rombauer Carneos, $65. Corkage is $25. Most cocktails are $15. It has local beers on draft and in the cans. Service is always fast and friendly. They check regularly for water refills, and any thoughts on the meal. We enjoy the casual, neighborly feel to the Tavern. A California beach town classic.
