I ended up really loving this place. I saw Drew Lynch here on Friday Honestly hes such a great comedian!. Has become one of my favorites. Picked good openers as well. So when you arrive you have to put your phone in a pocket slip its locked. So you can't be on your phone etc during the show. You have to step out if you need to take a call.I do like that policy with the no phones out during the show. I noticed immediately how the entire crowd before the show started chatting amongst one another it was refreshing. Not something you see much of anymore because we are all glued to our phones. So I hope they keep that rule. The drinks were good. Service was good. As soon as they open they give you a complete rundown of the rules. Which is great. They manage the lines well. They don't have a food menu. Some popcorn at most I believe. I only got drinks. FYI: DO NOT PARK AT PAVILIONS THEY WILL TOW YOU!! Take a lyft/uber or find street parking. A little challenging but not impossible promise. Only issue I would say is it was extremely hott inside during the show. Hope it wouldn't be that bad in the future for shows I'd love to attend here.

    Show starts at 7:45pm

The popcorn is great. They have coffee drinks in California wine. They have martinis and bottle of bubbly It's dark and cool in here on a hot summer day. It was $99 for the show but well worth it. We all need to laugh a little.

Going to a comedy show is almost always a great date night. This venue is "first come, first serve" so if you get there early enough, you can potentially get seated around the stage, and most often get picked on by the comedian (some people like that). Ive been to this Comedy Store on 2 occasions - open mic and for Godfrey. 2 completely different occasions. Open mic has more of a hit or miss lineup while Godfrey was literally a house full of laughs. There is a 2 drink minimum but it does not have to be alcohol. They also offer alternative drinks like soda, tea, and coffee. They have limited food selection. Last night, they had $5 popcorn. So just a recommendation to eat somewhere prior. This particular comedy store is unlike the one in LA. Definitely smaller. Depends on how packed the venue is, just be aware you might not have a lot of space. Still a beloved and historical venue, and definitely worth checking out.

We have been to this location and to Hollywoods location. We prefer La Jolla. It is small, but in a nice area. We recently saw Chris Porter. He is hilarious! We've never seen a bad comedian at the Comedy Store. The ticket prices are reasonable. My only complaint is they take your phone and lock it up in a baggy. You do get to keep your baggy with you, but you need to have a staff member unlock it . This is not convenient for those of us with littles. They do not serve groom and there is a two drink minimum per person.

Okay, so it's not exactly fair to judge a comedy venue based on the strength of any given comedian. In my specific case, I was gifted tickets to Dustin Nickerson. Dustin was hilarious and I spent the evening laughing, as did my companions. But were I to give Comedy Store five stars based on Dustin's performance ... well, that would be like me giving five starts to an airline because Hawaii has good weather. So how does one rate this place? I'll compare it to other comedy venues. In that respect, it's not great. I appreciate the history of the place. But I don't think that exactly gives them a pass. The interior is pure 70's lounge chaos. Tables are scattered wherever. People had to crawl over each other to move around. Chairs are not comfortable. It's also in La Jolla. Parking is bad. But at least you're in La Jolla. We parked many black away where we dined prior to the show. Which brings me to the next point. Dine before the show. The food is limited to popcorn. Oh ... the popcorn is otherworldly. Wild to say this, but it's better than 95% of all popcorn I've ever tasted. So bravo. Drinks are basic, no frills and served reasonably fast. They are served efficiently by staff that probably has too many people to serve per show. In contrast to the other comedy venues I've attended (Improve and American Comedy Club), this was overall the least comfortable throwback style experience. It's fine for what it is if you want to see a specific act. But don't come here expecting to eat. But you can definitely drink and be merry.

Tony Baker is hilarious! Loved this venue, very intimate and small. You really pack in for these shows. Service was friendly and easy, checks came right on time, etc. I had to look for street parking for a little bit, and La Jolla seemed to have had some impatient adults. I found parking pretty quickly tho, just a little disappointed in humanity.

This place is very intimate. Conveniently location near Mission Beach, this comedy club features artists from all over the country. This place is Equip with a bar and popcorn machine. But the only downside id say this place has is there's no food menu items. Not even appetizers or snacks. Only popcorn That's the first comedy club I've been to without food. Wouldn't stop me from coming again though but thought I'd mention it. The servers were great. I went 2 nights in a row and the server the second night was very observant and asked great questions. She did a great job. Hope to visit again one day.

Finally saw a show here last month and was pleasantly surprised at the set up and how it was organized. Glad to see the options for food/drinks (yay White Russian!) and while we got seated at the very back, the view for the headliner (Pete Lee!) was still very good. Staff were very helpful, and things went smoothly with ordering/paying, and getting in/out the venue. Will recommend and hope to see another show again!

This venue typically has a pretty solid line up of comedians and very friendly staff! We've been to a couple shows and the comedy is always great. The two drink minimum is kind of a bummer since the drinks are a bit expensive and the cocktails aren't exactly "craft", I typically get a bourbon on the rocks because both the espresso martini and the margarita were both a bit disappointing. Parking is pretty tough but if you get there early enough you can typically find a spot nearby within 5-10 minutes of looking.

Still no food or have they added something more than popcorn?

The Lot is very unique in that they not only serve as a movie theater, but have a full-service dinner and bar area as well. Adjoining ASA Bakery is also on-site, serving creative, too-pretty-to-eat pastries and matcha drinks. Honestly, the $24 price tag for a movie experience might seem steep, but other movies theaters are in and around that price anyways. At The Lot, at least you're getting comfortable, plush seats, a seemingly private viewing experience with your partner in your recline-ready love seat, food and drink wait service at your seat (if you desire it), and superb picture with okay enough sound. On that note, some cons: -We recently watched The Odyssey and some of the scenes were blaringly LOUD to the point where my ears felt like they could bleed. They do not divulge their sound system either, only that it's "high-end". The sound could definitely use better balance. -Mentioned love seats are very apparent upon booking now, making selection easy with no confusion. The theaters do cater to them so if you're in a group, you'll feel far from them. -Try as we might to pay in person, we could not avoid the service fee applied to all sales. Service fees are my biggest gripe, enough to teeter this rating. The atmosphere though is rather spectacular, so some things are to be ignored. -No true matinee prices unless you're a member. $20-22, otherwise, on Wednesday's for non-members.

Each visit (three separate occasions), something I've ordered was either forgotten or brought out very late. On this particular visit (Fri, July 3rd), I went to see a movie for my birthday. Unfortunately, due to public transportation, I was unable to make it to the theater as early as I wanted. My movie started @ 1:30, but I didn't make it inside until about 1:40 or so. The trailers were still playing, but the lights were off inside and the other guests seemed to already have their food/drinks. So, I attribute some of the mishap to that. However, there were less than ten people in the theater. So, keep that in mind as well. I ordered poke nachos, a popcorn, and a soda. Pretty simple order, right? My "host" brought out the popcorn + drink pretty swiftly. The popcorn tasted stale, just like another time I'd visited. Even though I'm pretty sure their 1:30 movies are their first showing. About halfway through the movie, I pressed the call button because I still hadn't received my nachos. The host said, "They might be ready now. Let me check." Translation: "I forgot them." That was pretty annoying. Especially as this is the third time something like this has occurred at The Lot. And I've only been three times in total. Luckily, the popcorn was free because it was my birthday, which I had to remind the host twice before he tried charging me. Do not order it unless you enjoy stale popcorn. The nachos and ginger ale were tasty, though. Overall, the vibe/setup is nice for viewing films. I only which the service and attention to detail was better.

I really wish the actors had a microphone because even though the room is small, it echos and when anybody at your table laughs, you miss what they are saying. I also did not like how close we were sitting to each other at the table. They should have less people at each table and bring more tables in. The food was the reason I took off a star. The food was incredibly disappointing. For $70, you would think they could serve better food. It's a 3 course meal and all were bad. The appetizer was like 4 tomatoes with balsamic. Not a salad and very small for an appetizer. I'm really glad they had a pita bread and hummus bar in the beginning because that kept me full until the main course. I got the vegetarian option which was pasta with veggies but the pasta was so over cooked it was like mush. I've never had pasta that soft. My bf got the chicken and he also felt it was too dry and it wasn't served with anything with substance like mashed potatoes or veggies or anything. Just some piece of kale. Dessert was cake. I thought it was cheesecake but it was more like coffee cake. Also very bland. No frosting or anything, just a little whip cream. Other than food, it was so much fun!!
