It wasn't busy when we went but it had a good atmosphere. There's a jukebox (TouchTunes), a decent beer selection, and they make a good Bloody Mary. It was pretty clean for a bar and the stage setup looked nice - we look forward to going back to see live music at some point!

    Outstanding Crisp Cubanos sandwich!

This place (conjoined with Up the Hill Grill) remains consistently in the top two burger spots of Ramona. One of my favorite things to order here is the Maple Bourbon Bacon Burger. Half pound patty with melted smoked cheddar, crumbled bacon, finished with a maple brown sugar glaze and flamed aged bourbon, topped with "frazzled" red onion and jalapeño. It was the perfect blend of sweet & spicy. Some bites even had a great candied texture. I've never tasted anything like it. A very unique and original burger creation. Way Point Saloon also has the most impressive onion ring tower I've encountered! What stands out for me is how hot & crispy they come out of the kitchen coupled with an outstanding fry sauce. The rings here are beer battered and definitely in the top two of Ramona when it comes to onion rings. 23 draft beers on tap is a pretty good draw too! Best bar spot in Ramona for live music every Friday and Saturday nights. Sound here is top shelf.

Visited 1/25/2018 What a great Happy Hour. All appetizers are half price for happy hour. Crazy bacon stuffed jalapeños poppers are amazing. That Korean chicken wings are also extremely tasty. This place has a full well-stocked bar and Marisa the bartender was fabulous and very friendly. The beer was frosty cold and the appetizers were a great deal at 1/2 price. All the food from Up The Hill Grill is available in the bar. Friday and Saturday nights they have live music. The Burgers are the best in Ramona. I Will Return.

My very first legal drink ever was a "Liquid Marajuana" here made by Danielle who I forever love for that! The new barkeep had never heard of the drink but was very eager to look up the recipe on her nifty bartending app to attempt it for me when I came back again. Of course it wasn't the EXACT same as I remembered the first time (can anything compare to your first magically legal drink?) but I do appreciate the extra effort! I am sure they are now more focused on their revamped drink menu which includes new signature drinks  "Bourbon Blueberry Pie" and "Rayne Peach".  "Way Point Saloon" formerly known as "Molly Malones" (locals continue to pay homage to the OG name) was featured on an episode of Bar Rescue during Season 4, episode 32 "Shamrocks & Shenanigans". This can be found on the Spike TV Website or listed below; https://www.paramountnetwork.com/episodes/dsypwi/bar-rescue-shamrocks-and-shenanigans-season-4-ep-32 SPOILER ALERT: After reviewing the episode I am relieved to know there were no disgusting issues associated with the kitchen. (Makes sense or they'd have Gordon Ramseys "Hells Kitchen" on their asses!) One problem was that their drinks were "Too strong"...which is all I could ever ask for in a bartender. Also, "Too much bacon"...another thing I could only hope for in a chef! They are not skimping on these items either per the advice they received, which I totally agree with of course.  FOOD: The same kitchen connects both "Up the Hill Grill" & "Way Point Saloon" which is an interesting dynamic for depending what time of mood your in. The "Avacado fries" are definitely not made with the same type of love as my friends used to whip up when they were both chefs here. They are now just called "fried avocado" & there's a reason for that...LACK OF FLAVORING! First time I tried them I was shocked at the depth of flavor I had experienced from the batter mix of; Club soda, Tempura powder dipped in crushed Funion chips! PLEASE go back to the preparation method the great Christine & Cameron once used...I can assure you as a customer they are 10 times better! They went from "Best I ever had" to "What a drag" real quick!  My craving for a bloody mary along with a bacon slider has finally been satisfied!  Both were amazing & the sliders come in an order of 3. However, I wish the option for a single order was avaliable to only get 1 slider. If I wanted a larger portion I would have just ordered an entire whole burger instead, make sense?  Similar to an appetizer with 1 slider accompanying the Bloody Mary attached to the kabob of assorted finger foods that comes in the drink on a skewer. I understand if that's not an order that is offered here & I can makeshift my own creation but it would've been nice not to have the excess sliders or effort to do so. This unique & aesthetically pleasing method of presentation may be a bit boujie for the likes of this town...but I'm sure it would be more of a modern HIT! I surely would appreciate not having to drive all the way down to SD to expierence this cool trend.  ATMOSPHERE: Old west gold rush theme is fitting for the town & not TOO much different than the original interior. They play some country songs but mostly throwback music that you would hear featured on the Rock 105.3 radio station. Overall it's a very laidback & homey kind of atmosphere here!   The new color scheme matches the "Stagecoach route" that once came through the Ramona. Roadhouse. Rustic decor has distressed wood & repurposed furniture that compliments the "Waystation" history of Ramona. New lighting inside emits comforting vibes from the dark atmosphere...but now has a less cobweb/dusty feel while still holding onto that old homey feeling that we all love! It is very dark inside but well lit with glowing red & blue lights, naturally very cool calming hues & are my favorite! Along with the outside sitting area that offers a wide variety of games to play (besides your typical pool which to me is not very coo!l) I feel right at home here with my friends house in walking distance being an added bonus from the usual problem I have going to bars "down the hill"! The owner Bob is super down to earth as well & will hold a conversation with you if engaged.   I highly recommend stopping by this new & improved location if you are passing through town to visit Julian which is another popular tourist attraction! This place will warm you right up after exploring the winter snow in the mountains another rarity for California. I know I will be back real soon to check out their Karaoke event hosted on Thursday nights at 8 PM! They also offer free pool on Sunday Evenings if your interested in that sort of thing.

This is a tough one. This place does good food. And beer. But I went in asking about their…read moreprotocols for gluten allergies. There are limited dinner options in Julian. And with a kid with celiac, who can get sick for days if a crumb of bread is digested, options are even more limited. We were stoked when the woman at the register pointed out that the bbq and salads were mostly GF (without croutons). And while she did mention there's a chance of cross-contamination with the gluten free pizza, as they make pizzas and there's flour around, she mentioned they change gloves and use clean utensils and have had many celiac folks eat there without issue. Bit we went instead for the most basic and least risky options. Half smoked chicken and a wedge salad. Then I saw the house made pickles. My kid loves pickles. I asked if they were GF. Any seasoning or anything that might contain gluten? She asked the cook and he said no. Gluten free. Which makes sense. They're pickles. Took the order back to the house and the kid went straight for the pickles. I don't have the time to explain how awesome it is when this kid, who's whole outlook on food has been shattered because of the celiac, can have some pickles and not have to think about getting sick. But here we are. From pure joy to anxiety and sadness in two seconds flat. I'm posting this not to bag on this establishment or the people that work there. We know it's a kitchen that serves food and drinks containing gluten. But when I've asked about protocols and tried to do my best to get the info, as well as making it clear that we are trying to be very careful about gluten as it's an allergy, not a preference, and then being reassured that the pickles and the bbq is as safe as they can make it, I was pretty bummed to find a whole freakin crouton in the middle of the container of pickles. Half of which the kid had already happily devoured. We The restaurant industry is not set up for people with food allergies. We know this. We try our best to navigate it by asking questions and getting as much info as possible. There are places that don't even know what celiac is. So we leave. There are places that are extremely knowledgeable about it from front of house to the chef. Those places we can put more trust in. It's never 100%. But fortunately we've had more good experiences than bad with restaurants that take it seriously. I'm sure this was a mistake. Not intentional. Pickles too close to the croutons. I can see how it can happen. All I'm asking is to be better about it. Be aware. Especially when I've asked repeatedly if it's all good and the answer given is yes. Or just tell me it's not safe to eat there for people with celiac and we can be on our way. A lot of restaurants are becoming more aware and offering more GF options. This is great. Lots of people eat gluten free to avoid carbs or because of gluten sensitivity. Celiac is another level. And a painful one at that. We appreciate and love going to eat food at places that take it seriously. Hoping for more of those places in the future. Julian Beer Co. we love you, but take note. Croutons don't belong in your pickles.

My experience yesterday evening was absolutely opposite. We were seated at a large round table in the corner at the front of the restaurant. We were 11 seated at this great round table. It was perfect because we could talk with anyone at the table, and see each other. Our server, Hunter was fantastic! Friendly and while waiting other tables she was able to cater to our needs just as well and as fast. She did have another person checking on us when Hunter was not at our table. I did not get her name. Tonight it was hopping with other gatherings taking place. There are TV's lined along the upper half of the wall with all kinds of sports happening being televised. The room is very open with great outdoor seating off to the side of the restaurant. Looked like comfortable seating too. A few of us ladies order appetizers to share. When the platters arrived they were placed on the large lazy Susan in the middle of the table. Appetizers shared: Sampler plate: Gyoza, Shrimp Tempura, Spring Rolls and Cream Cheese Wontons Meatballs Wings Margherita Flatbread Hummus Flatbread My dinner was: PSH Chicken Penne Pasta My drinks: Espresso Martini and Benoit Dearg "red Beer (Barley & Sword Brewery) Red Ale-Irish My Dessert: Beignets to share and Affogato Appetizers were great. Though I did not get to try the meatballs, I was able to enjoy bites of the sampler plate. With the wings I requested the mild sauces to be off to the side. Thank goodness! They were spicy and I do like spicy food. The windows were nice and crispy! Came with carrots and celery sticks. My Chicken Penne Pasta was delicious. I don't know if it was my imagination but there seem to be some sweetness to the sauce. Maybe wine added? My desserts! The beignets were fresh. The arrived with the look of almost a donut hole. They were piping hot. The bread was light, with a bit of dense texture. Very delicious. My affogato was amazing. If you love coffee this might be for you. I had my first affogato in Italy, this is the 2nd best. The hot espresso mixed into the vanilla ice cream, was heavenly. Both my drinks, Espresso Martini and red beer were both delicious! The martini was very creamy and with the right amount of sweetness. The red beer was mild and very smooth. I would love to return and can't wait to try some of the other beers available as well as the yummy dishes on the menu. Parking is busy in the this busy street mall. The place feels welcoming right away, clean, modern, and decked out nicely without being over-the-top. Our server was spot-on from the start--super knowledgeable about the menu, quick with solid recommendations, and just attentive enough without hovering. Service was incredibly fast, which is a huge plus when you're hungry for that fresh seafood fix. We dove right into the boils (you know the drill: everything gets dumped out on the table lined with paper, and you just go to town cracking shells and getting messy--it's part of the fun!). The flavors were absolutely on point--fresh ingredients shining through, and the seasoning was bold and balanced. Word of warning: when they say "spicy," they mean it! The heat builds in the best way, but it's flavorful heat, not just burn-your-mouth-for-no-reason. We loved the combo of sauces (Cajun, garlic butter, etc.--pick your poison), and everything tasted incredibly fresh. The corn on the cob was perfectly cooked--sweet, juicy, and grilled just right. Potatoes, sausage, the whole classic lineup was spot-on. Presentation? It's rustic by nature (no fancy plating here--you're eating straight off the table), but it was done well and felt authentic to the experience. Overall, it was a super enjoyable meal--messy in the best possible way, full of flavor, and left us all stuffed and happy. Prices felt fair for the quality and portion sizes, especially for a group share. We'll definitely be back--maybe next time trying the Escondido Surfing Special or some of the Asian-fusion options on the menu.
