" Nice Bartender & Great Selection " I went to The Blarney Stone Pub in El Cajon today to attend a wine tasting event run by the Grocery Outlet, which is a few doors down from the Blarney Stone Pub. Francis the owner was at the end of the bar the entire time talking with customers. Gabrielle the Bartender was very nice, and was hustling around the bar taking care of everyone wishes for drinks. The Blarney Stone Pub has been in El Cajon for 15 years and has another location in the Clairmont area of San Diego. They have a wide range of beers and cocktail drinks that they serve their customers and they also have daily drink specials. The Pub has a few pool tables and many TV's so customers can enjoy playing games or watching TV. They also have Karaoke 7 nights a week which starts at 9:00 pm. The place could probably use a make over on it's inside decorations, but all in all it's just an average local Pub hangout ! read more

A breakdown of San Diego's Worst Bar: 1. Service is what you would expct from a bar right in between to a Dollar Tree and a Grocery Outlet. Slow, horrible, and reeking of "Yeah , I finished high school. A G.E.D. counts, right?" 2. Do not ever let one of the "locals" take issue with you. If you upset the "locals" in the slightest way, (this includes such minor infractions such as paying for your drinks the same night and not saying "next payday, put it on my tab.", indicating you are "better than them" or "this lady was obnoxious to me several days ago, and that guy over there [points at someone who you don't even know] said you were her man.") you will find yourself kicked out. Furthermore, the person that kicks you out will be an "overachieving" ex-employee who you thought was securiy by the way he acted, but in fact is not. 3. Most of the bartenders are obviously under employed and should be working far better paying gigs, and it shows. With the exception of one. I think her name is Katie (I wouln't know for sure because she never introduced herself) provided the slowest, rudest, most deplorable customer service ever. Including, but not limited to such basic "bartending don'ts" as arguing with a customer who's conversation she had no say in or invitation to, threatening a customer, denying service based on discriminatory reasons, and so on. 4. Did I mention there is one particular customer they allow in to beg other patons for drinks? Interesting, they know its happening, they just allow it. 5. Behind the bar is absolutely disgusing. It remains to me a mystery whether I was getting drunk from the alcohol, or just in the early and delusionary stages of toxic shock. The floors, counters, bar, and restrooms have most certainly never seen the likes of any sort of cleaning/maintenance device. 6. Don't even think for one second that you can leave your drink on the bar and partake in a cigarette, unless you want one of their highly defended "locals" to drink your beer for you. read more

This bar is a total dive and thats why I love it. Have patronized this place for over eight years and have never really had a bad time (that I can remember anyway lol). If you like people who make fast friends and don't have chip on your shoulder this is the place to be. Once you are a Blarney Stone family member you have to work real hard to lose that status. By day its the regular good ol' boys in a relaxed atmosphere and by night its a pool club/kareoke bar with bartender G, and the imfamous Rowland Blunts as your kareoke host. The staff here was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. If you like the loud, crowded and crazy, then Saturday nights would be the night for you. Karaoke was blaring and we were staring. Great place to people watch and relax with a cold one. Sunday nights are more laid-back and better for conversation as you sip your libation of choice. This place isn't going to win any awards for decor or location, but who really cares. It's a local hole in the wall, right? Located at the corner of Second and Madison, there are hundreds of places to eat within stumbling distance. They have a good variety of beers on tap and a full bar if that's more your style. I lived in El Cajon for 15 years. I've produced quite a number of TV shows in El Cajon. Needless to say, I'm known there. I've also filmed in a number of pubs in and around San Diego. The management, staff and locals where always excited to see Good ole Grilldog Stop by to lap up a few liquid libations. However, if you were looking for that one spot, my favorite spot to play pool, watch sporting events or just hang out with a cold drink, then it's the Blarney Stone Hands Down. In fact I even filmed my first Road Kill Episode there. That was the episode that actually got me recognized internationally. Although they don't serve food, the management occasionally will spring for pizza or subs for free! Plus the locals all have favorite recipes and typically show up with food to share. Hanging out there for 15 years, yes, I've had a few bartenders that could have been a tad better. You know the young gals that seem to only want to flirt with the young studs. However, once they got into the gear of the place everyone was satisfied. So stop in, it's a great place to hang out and great prices on their drinks. Good cheap bar. Don't order anything complicated, it probably won't be right. Needs a complete remodel. Kinda hideous. Bathrooms are decently clean but also hideous. Karaoke is not so good. Customers are an eclectic bunch but no problems (except a really drunk broad one night had a problem with another...) and the pool players are chilled out. Tournament nights fill up the space a bit more. Don't come here if the sight of bikers make you uncomfortable, especially Sunday rides days. I liked the Karaoke host, but the bartender with the accent was very rude and tried to overcharge my friend for drinks. And it took him 15 mins to get his attention. He obviously could not handle the bar by himself. When someone asked him why it was $29 for 4 shots the bartender said "are you paying?" and the guy said "no". The bartender snapper and said "well then shut your mouth." It totally killed the vibe and I definitely will not be going back or suggesting it to anyone. read more

I absolutely Loooved this place! Have to admit I was a bit weirded out when I first walked in, my date and I were both dressed up and the people there were in casual clothing so we stood out hahaha. We said ok we'll have 2 drinks and go somewhere else given that it was 12:30am when we got there. We got our 1st round, 2 Guinness and 2 Jagger shots, we needed to catch up lol, the bartender gave us our total and I was shocked, I couldn't believe it, I thought he was kidding or drunk lol our total was $18 see I am from Hollywood so $18 is a shot and the tip for the bartender haha. After that I was like "yup, were staying here!" We finally got into the vibe because the music was definitely on point. They had karaoke, a small but good enough dance floor, and pool tables. The people singing were choosing songs that just made our night. We meet really nice people, the bartenders were both extremely nice, and of course the prices were to die for. We decided to go back the next night because a couple of people we met there wanted to hang out with us again so we did, not disappointed at all, once again we had a blast! This is an awesome bar. And I am sober saying this. This is the first bar that I went to when I moved my "then" girlfriend to East County. Back then the management and the bartenders were good. And since i've returned to the bar in October when I kicked sobriety full time, I've noticed that the Management is better, the bar is cleaned up and they have pretty bartenders. They have a bartender who resembles Lindsay Lohan but thick. To my friends who know me personally and are reading this, I'm a big Lindsay Lohan fan. The most awful first experience! My friend and I walked in after having had a couple of beers at Main Tap, only to be denied service because we were "drunk". Are you fricken kidding me?! It seems some people can't take constructive criticism. I have noticed that many of the negative reviews have amazingly ended up in the dumpster. This is not good business. That is one thing I dislike about Yelp. You can pay to have the negative reviews thrown in the trash. There are so many things wrong with this bar, where do I start? First off there is a smell of urine right when you walk in the door. A couple of the bartenders are really nice, and do a very good job. The manager that works on the weekends that has that stupid rat tail style haircut is the biggest problem with this place. He fires good bartenders and then replace them with bad ones. Sometimes he even hires back bad bartenders that should have never been rehired. Especially the girl that works on Sunday nights that thinks she is hot s***, and goes on a smoke break every 8 minutes. Sorry honey you may be hot in El Cajon but in the rest of the world you are average at best. The door men are also useless. I have seen at least 5 fights in the times I have come here, and only one of those occasions did the doorman actually make the situation better. But the biggest problem with this place is the s***** owner who neglects is good regulars and caters to the idiots. Good riddance I will never come back. read more

If you enjoy waiting an average of 15 minutes for a drink, rude bartenders and cockroaches then this place is for you. The young, and very rude lady working behind the bar a few Sundays ago obviously hates her job. she was outside smoking cigarettes (which is illegal to do in the city of El Cajon) more time than she was inside working, and when she was not smoking she was playing pool. It was no wonder why there were only a handful of customers in there. I would have thought that since it was my first time in the place that i would not have been ignored the way i was. overall this bar was a big waste of my time. read more
