I recently embarked on a completely pointless quest to rank most of the Ramen Places in the Bay Bay Bay similar to lists I have for Boba. Ranking explained: #1 (listed at the top) is my favorite/ #? Finally got to try it! I came in with 4-star expectations due to the current rating, but honestly found myself a bit disappointed. We ordered the Black Garlic Ramen and the Tonkatsu Ramen. The meat and noodle had great texture but the broth was more on the watery side. I found myself adding more spicy/soy sauce and that made it somewhat better. Missing something... The service was fast! Our food came within 5 mins of ordering. Unfortunately, as they were getting ready to close, there was a lot of laughing and personal side conversations coming from the kitchen. Definitely heard some things that were not meant to be heard. Overall, okay food but probably won't go back. read more

From what I read on the reviews and the staged photos it looked like it would be a good choice. I was wrong. If you like mushy noodles and flavorless broth this place is for you. Not to mention it seems to be laden with msg to make what they are serving taste somewhat appealing. As for the customer service....avoid eye contact and interaction with the manager/owner. She could use a few classes in customer service and social interaction. There are plenty of Poke and ramen places in the Bay Area. I highly recommend finding a different restaurant. If I could give it less stars, I would. P.S. Their unagi tastes like a dirty dish towel smells. read more

If you need a quick ramen fix this is your place. The fast food of ramen , not the best, but not the worst. Service is great try the chicken karaage (better than the ramen to be honest ‍). read more

Just came to this ramen place expecting the same as every other Ramen in the Bay Area. Boy this place is really good! Tonkasu and Miso Ramen we ordered both spicy and come out still boiling hot. The way we liked it in this cold weather. The chicken karagge appetizer is yummy and big portion and taste very tender and crunchy. Must try it. Customer service is fast and friendly!!! read more

Great ramen! Garlic ramen is the best and their boiled eggs are so good! Convenient location so there's plenty of parking. Decent amount of seating inside and two small two seaters outside when the weather is warm. They always greet you excitedly as soon as you walk in! read more

Tried this out today. Decided on this restaurant based on pictures on Yelp and the fact it's in a shopping center which meant parking would be a tad easier. I didn't hate but didn't love it either. Two out of three of us for the ramen. The flavor was better than your stove top ramen but nothing to wrote home about. Egg was perfect! Nice and yolky!! Japantown in SF, Noodle Theory in Oakland and Orenchi/Sontuka in the South Bay definitely serve a deeper, richer broth. But if you don't want to settle for stove top ramen and don't feel like driving and lining up when you get there, this place will do. I personally had the Poke bowl. Flavors were amazing and the mixture of seaweed, salad, rice and edamame were delicious. Actual fish fell short of flavor and freshness I'm used to. Again, decent but there is better. read more

As I mentioned to literally everyone I know, I was sick last week. On day three of my cold I had ramen for lunch, here, for the first time. I told the woman at the counter I wanted it spicy, so she recommended I get it extra spicy. It was less than $12 dollars for a giant bowl of Tonkatsu ramen and an order of hot tea. Do you even realize how amazing that is to me? It was delicious and gorgeous to look at just moments before I devoured the entire bowl. The woman at the counter was also delightful and friendly. Will be back soon. read more

I lived in San Leandro for the longest time before I moved away. When did they have a ramen spot?! The place is very clean and has plenty of parking since it is located in Greenhouse. The staff where friendly and plenty of seating. The food was good. I had the to tonkashu and it satisfied my craving. I had better but, for the location, price, and the fact I don't have to wait 2hr for seating it won me over! read more

Im going to keep it short. Good price.Great food. Amazing costumer service. I came on a Saturday and it was not busy so I was able to order and get seated right away. I ordered the black garlic ramen. It was $10.99. I only waited a short minute before it came out. The men that were serving me were very attentive. They must have filled my cup about 3x. They reminded me that if I needed anything, don't hesitate to ask. When I left, they even opened the door for me because I was pushing a stroller. The last time I was at Ramen101, I ordered edamame, and the tempura shrimp. A big bowl of edamame came out still warm and lightly salted. The shrimp were large, hot, and had a nice batter. The young lady was very nice helpful and accomadating. I will definitely go back. read more

If it weren't for the staff I would give this place 2 stars. First off I asked for Chicken Ramen spicy. It was not spicy at all. Tried the house made red sauce. They don't use Thai chili. It's pepper corns. To top it all off they use MSG in the broth. The bathroom. The seat next to the basin is filthy. I have only seen worse in a 3rd world country. Oh yes. To top it off, the wait staff order food from next door. Don't eat your own food? Not a good idea in front of customers. What does that tell you about the food you serve? Hope you change fast. One thing you have that's good is your friendly waitstaff, but I don't goto restaurants for just service. read more

Since moving to Hayward a few months ago, this has become our go-to ramen and poke place. We've got a bit of a problem where my husband loves ramen and I get sick of it a lot faster than he does, while I like sushi and he doesn't. Here, we've found a single restaurant where he can get ramen and I can get a poke bowl for my raw salmon cravings, and we both leave happy. The employees are always really friendly and the food is always delicious. I look forward to continuing to come here for years to come. read more

This place recently opened and I had high hopes about it just because the yelp reviewers seemed to have given it such good reviews. I expected a Japanese style ramen but there's didn't even come close. The broth lacks the umami flavor (It actually has no flavor). Their portion was good at the price you had to pay. Any additional toppings is $1.00 each. We ordered miso and black garlic ramen... and black garlic ramen is my favorite. I was very disappointed. Not coming back to this place... read more

For someone who has been to Japan numerous times and has had ramen many times, finding this place near where I live make me happy, even happier that it carries flavor as well. It has been hard for me to find a ramen spot that has the consistency of back in Japan. This is definitely my choice in the Bay Area to get ramen read more

When a new ramen place was opening up in SL I had to check it out. You order and pay at the front first and then seat yourself which is different from most ramen restaurants. I was not sure what to get but the worker Janna helped me out and let me know what their options were. They also have poke there. I got the black garlic ramen it was better than other ramen I've had in the bay but it was a little salty. My friend got the poke and said it was really good. Overall it was not bad for SL standards and the portions were HUGE. Service was great s/o to Janna she should get a raise! read more

Planned to have a farewell party here because I saw there is "outdoor seating" in their service. We drove a long way there, it is just a tiny restaurant for only take out and delivery. Our plan was suddenly ruined. However, it was lucky we have back up restaurant near there! read more

Ramen 101 did NOT disappoint! Excellent service start to finish. The Manager was amazing and really made our experience personal. Her humor and sarcasm was wonderful, exactly what you need to keep customers wanting a personal experience coming back! The food came out fast and fresh! Our cashier also made sure to repeat back our full order to ensure our order came out correctly. Being in the restaurant industry myself I am very critical but Ramrn 101 all around gets an A+ from me. Ramen was very flavorful and I definitely will be returning, comfort food on a rainy day. Sidenote: Ramen 101 is definitely a quick lunch spot, don't expect fine dining, this is a wonderful "wanna grab lunch and get great service" spot. read more

YUMMMMY!!! First time checking out this place.. I'm not a local so took the advice of the fellow yelpers...and it was well worth it. Food came out fast.. hot and fresh! AND delicious! Broth was flavorful.. meat tender.. noodles good texture. Asked for spicy.. could have been spicier but they gave us hot chili on the side. They let me take out the bamboo and sub it for another egg... which was cooked perfectly!!! I'm super picky about how my eggs are boiled and this was on point!! The girl taking the order was very nice and helpful. I'm assuming the lady with the glasses was the owner who was super nice as well and checked up on us a couple times. Great customer services adds to the great food....Definitely satisfied my Ramen craving and will go back when in the area!! read more

I think some of the reviewers here need to expand their ramen palette because frankly this place is not that great. Don't get me wrong, its not terrible. But seriously 5 stars? Yes this might be one of the few ramen options that is available around the area, but does it really deserve such a high rating-inflation just so it can stay on the team and continue making more money for the shopping plaza while all the other restaurants are stressing themselves out trying to score higher on the standard yelp rating curve... Anyway I digress. Food: I've been here twice in the past year, first time ordering the Black Garlic and second time ordered the Tonkatsu. Each comes w/ a soft-boiled egg. The pork and broth was ok, if not a bit bland. Honestly I'm having a hard time remembering the flavors because frankly the dishes weren't memorable enough. Service: You order in front and the food is brought to your table. Yes that means tipping is (or at least should be) optional. Ambience: Has a small cafe feel. Decor was nice and clean. Overall: It's alright, have had much better ramen elsewhere. Recommend if you're around the area and are looking to satiate your ramen cravings in a mediocre way. read more

Came here to have lunch with my sister and we loved it! We both live in the area and have not been able to try it since the lines were pretty long. We went a little after lunch rush on a Saturday and waited outside for about 5 minutes. When you first arrive you are greeted and if full they ask you to put your name down on the list to do that otherwise they seat you right away. Their menu is behind the register, so you order first then sit down or order to go. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and my sister ordered the vegetable ramen. We both loved our soups! We were full and did not finish our meal and were both surprised by how much of ramen noodles was in the soup. The number of noodles was endless and we did not think it would ever end. I had enough soup to take home for dinner. We also ordered crab rangoons as an appetizer. I really liked that the staff was attentive and quick. They were constantly refilling our waters and checking if we were okay. The prices of the soups were very affordable and I am really glad we finally got to try it. I am glad we are able to finally give this place a try. I found my new Ramen spot and definitely will be back soon. I highly recommend locals to give this ramen spot a try! read more

I was visiting a friend family and was taken out from this restaurant. The whole family had Tonkasu ramen. Soup was yummy, was not salty, just a bit spicy for medium. Meat was thick cut, and had a whole egg. Highly recommended. read more

I came here with a friend for lunch. You order and pay first and then take a seat and someone will bring it out for you. My friend and I literally paid and sat down and in less than a minute, our food came out. Such quick service! I ordered the black garlic ramen. Just from the name of it, I was expected to be bombarded with amazing flavor and aroma. I wasn't really. There were also flakes of something black in my soup. Was it pepper? Something with the garlic? Or was it because I ordered medium spice level? I'm not sure, but the flakes were too large and took away from my enjoying the soup. The soup was quite oily, but my friend told me it's because of the spicy oil they put it. The ramen doesn't come with an egg, it costs $1. Nbd, I'm pretty glad the cashier disclosed that to me. The ramen is overall okay, but while I was eating it, there was something strange about it. My friend pointed it out that the noodles are a little weird. The texture is fine, but it seems that they don't really absorb the flavor. I'm just used to it doing that, makes the meal more flavorful. I probably won't go back unless I really have a craving for ramen and don't feel like going too far. read more

Popular ramen place in the Greenhouse plaza. We got there at 1pm and had to wait around 20 minutes for a table. It was worth it. We ordered the tonkatsu ramen, miso ramen and black garlic ramen. All were really good and the price is excellent (less than $10) compared to other notable ramen restaurants in the bay area. Our 8 yr old son loved his unagi don. The eel was a large piece sprinkled with tobiko. He usually doesn't eat fresh greens but he ate it all up with his meal. He liked it so much he asked if we can come back here again. read more

I tried this place for the first time by ordering two ramen bowls through doordash. I got the miso soup base with seafood. The seafood options include a serving of shrimp or scallops or both. The soup itself is pretty good and the noodles are nice and al dente. But for an additional $3 per serving of seafood, I would expect there to be more than 3 shrimps and the scallops to be bigger. read more

Service was good. The young kids are quick and friendly to serve you. The aren't lazy. Tables get wiped right away. Food was good, even though I'm thinking noodles can have a bit more texture or chew to them. But left happy. read more

Excited about this place opening for ages! Finally got to try it out last weekend with the parental units. The place is cozy with a limited amount of tables so get there early to nab a table and then mosey up to the counter to order. Food is excellent and the service is friendly and fast! They do ... I've heard a guy working at the register tell a customer up front they can just add more MSG to make it spiced . Big no no , because his manager quickly scolded him and told him not to say "msg" lol . I stopped going after that

I usually enjoy their salmon because it is fresh, but the last couple of times I went, the salmon did not taste fresh with a slight upset stomach. Hopefully the quality gets better again because I used to really like this spot.

This is a new place in San Leandro, and thank god we finally have a ramen spot. Pho, sure. Viet noodles, sure. Ramen (and udon/soba) have been missing, so it's great to have a solid place that knows how to make good food. The cashier at the counter was, first of all, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I know a bit about ramen, had it enough times to have an opinion, but my mom who I was with wasn't as knowing. The cashier stepped us through each other popular dishes and gave honest, accurate descriptions of the food. She's tried it all! A good sign when the employees actually enjoy the food; our waiter was equally as friendly and attentive. The food was delivered very quickly, which was kind of unusual to me, but then again the other ramen places I went to didn't JUST do ramen and had a much larger menu, so maybe them focusing is better with the smaller menu, so the quality control is higher than other places I've been to. The food was excellent! Mom had the black garlic, and I had the tonkotsu. The meat was tender, the broth was awesome, it was a -whole- egg instead of half of one, and it didn't cost a fortune to do add-ons, like extra mushrooms or meat. We got our food in good sized bowls, not gigantic like I've seen before, and not so small that you can eat the whole thing and still want more. Definitely a good deal for a bowl being $9.50! (I think only the seafood ramen is slightly more expensive, all the other bowls are all $9.50) The noodles weren't as firm as I was used to in other restaurants, maybe a little too soft, but a small comment like that is literally the only non-positive thing I have to say about this place. Mom liked the softer noodles, so she said they were perfect. I also liked that they had 90's hip hop music videos on the whole time? I visit Ramen 101 frequently, and it consistently delivers a great experience. While it's not an upscale or fancy spot, it's perfect for casual dining. The food is consistently excellent, and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. One of the best things about this place is the variety of broth options--they offer veggie or chicken and pork, which is a rare find compared to other ramen spots that typically have just one. Since I don't eat pork, I always go for the veggie-based chicken ramen, and it's delicious every time. Their chicken karaage is also a fantastic side to pair with the ramen. This is a place that you will try once just out of curiosity. To order food, either Togo or for there you go up to the counter and order, which is a cool system. But ... Service ... Meh the lady with the glasses does not know how to serve customers. From the tone of her voice to body gesture towards customer. Who says "freeze" or "don't move" to the customer so that you could pass by them. Food ... Is below average ... It seems like they just throw things into the bowl from the fridge. Egg was cold...
