This mayne hard to find for tourists like me but they have good Ramen. We went here a little after lunch time, and it was still pretty busy. It seems that locals eat here. The utensils are on the table. You order from the counter and they will give you a number. The wait wasn't that long and it was worth it.

My friends and I (group of 7) came here on our last night in Sydney. I ordered the tsukemen original ($16) with extra noodles (+$1). Flavor was on point but broth was *way* too liquidy. Everything was cold by the time it got to us. Noodles were al dente, chow mein noodles..overall did not enjoy my experience and won't be back. Service was very friendly and accommodating for our large party.

Sydney has plenty of ramen shops already, so how does a new competitor fare? Ramen Zundo opened 3 weeks ago and I can safely say this has the BEST roast chashu in Sydney. Tucked in a laneway, the shop isn't large and it's actually on the intimate side without feeling crowded. Upon entering the hostess will give you a menu and ask you to place an order at the counter. Once you do, you can then seat yourself. Without asking, water will be brought to your table which was a huge plus in my book. After less than 5 minutes we received our food. Service was great, the only downsides are their English isn't the greatest and the utensils could be better. Ramen Zundo offers three kinds of broth (or 6 if you get the Mount Chashu): White, Black, and Red. White is a traditional broth, Black is garlic based, and Red is spicy chili oil. The other three options are Tokyo Soy, Sea Salt (not available yet,) and Double Soup Soy which is a combination of chicken and pork broth. If you are a fan of the broth at Gumshara, you will enjoy the broth here. I ordered the Mount Chashu Red and It's on the savoury side, but not nearly as savoury (read: salty.) The Red has a few chili flakes sprinkled about, but it wasn't really spicy at all. The noodles are decent and don't taste bland. The bean sprouts and seaweed were pretty good as well, but the cabbage was an odd touch to the ramen. The highlight of the ramen is the roast chashu. Damn this chashu is good!!! It's cut into long strips, tender, and has a nice brown to it (the good kind of brown, not the bad kind.) A regular bowl gives you three strips while Mount Chashu gives you six. Don't miss out on this chashu. Ramen Zundo won't be taking any crowns (except for chashu) but it's a welcome addition to Sydney's ramen scene, I'll be coming back to try their other offerings.

Going to ramen for a well overdue catch up with 2 uni friends sparked a bit of dejavu as one of the last times we caught up (many years ago) was at the same place, but when it was still a Thai restaurant. Zundo hasn't changed much to the place. We sat in the same seats but this time looking at lanterns. FOOD 2 blacks and 1 white were ordered. White being the standard ramen and black with some garlic goodness. I must say I was a bit disappointed in the ramen. Pretty average to me. The soup just didn't have enough oomph. I didn't even need a mint after dinner to take away my garlic breath. Weak! SERVICE You order and pay at the counter before you sit. A bit awkward standing around at the front. Not sure how they would cope if there was a sudden influx of customers at once. Paying first also means they won't be getting any tips. OVERALL Average ramen. Went to check it out after reading Howard C's review. True to his 4 star rating I funnily enough ran into him at zundo that night. Maybe I should've ordered the cha shu one like he suggested.

Ordered Rich Zundo Original (Regular), and I did not finishe it, not because of the size but the taste. The soup is thick but lack of flavour and aroma, below average. The ramen itself is the worst I had in Sydney. There is too much baking soda (common additive for ramen) in the noodles, which makes the ramen way too firm, and I can literally taste it! Gumshara is definitely a better bet for thick tonkotsu ramen.

One of the newer ramen joints in Sydney, Ramen Zundo had to compete with some big names right out of the box. Do they? For the most part I would say yes. They definitely bring a different feel/taste to ramen compared to your local standards. I've tried several of the variations of ramen, but regardless I would get the Mount Chashu. The pork is pretty amazing here at Zundo. Big portions and super duper savory. The soup is nothing special, but compliments the rest of the parts of the dish. If you're in the area then give it a shot. This place seems to be a good fall back for my friends and I.

Been craving ramen for a while now and was eyeing this place after looking at all the pictures of the Zundo Black ramen. I had debated whether or not Ajisen Ramen around the corner was an option however settled on this place. As I was going to the movies at Event Cinemas, this was the perfect place to have a quick bite. I must say I was kind of disappointed. I thought I would be blown away by the taste and flavour however I wasn't. I was ready for something super super tasty and it was "ok". Although the broth was thick, I had to add chilli flakes to give the soup flavour. Not sure what happened to the stock but my dining partner who had the lightly flavoured one had the better ramen dish out of us both!! Menya and Ippudo gets my vote on ramen unfortunately on this ramen hunting experience.

4.5 Star Ramen! The only downside is that they don't have draft Asahi. Recommendable! Will come back!

This Ramen shop has always being one of my favourite. The broth is really special. Be sure to ask for additional ramen for an extra $1!

They also specialise in Tonkotsu broth which is less thick (colagen) than Gumshara but a little more heavy that Ippudo.
