If I am near Haymarket and in the mood for ramen, this is the best option around these parts. It is kind of strange though as the first impression you receive of the shop is a dingy, some what broken down elevator, that when you enter you have to realise that Ramen Kan is on level 1. Then when the elevator opens up and you step out, it is like a different reality. The store is really well designed and quite relaxing. If by myself I normally grab a window seat for a bit of people watching while I eat. The girls there are very attentive and will quickly come and take your order. For me it is very hard to go past the Chashumen (roast pork slices), but they have a really huge variety of different ramen styles it is likely that one of them will suit your needs. I really suggest you give this shop a try. It is kind of fun taking someone there for the first time as even just knowing where it is and how to get there makes you look like you really know the area well.

Ok I know, I know, its a ramen place so I should really be eating noodles. But my dish is the kaarage don. Its always done so well here and I've been having this particular dish for years and years, despite being trapped in the lift so many times or getting so fed up using the stairs instead. In addition the waitresses are attentive and the food comes out pretty quickly. Prices are reasonable as well. The only gripe is the wait. Sometimes its really bad and I've waited 30min+ just for a table. Otherwise a great little eatery, operated by the same guys who own Sushi Rio, Sushi Hotaro and Poporo.

hidden up on the second floor, gotta stairmaster for a bit if you didn't come in from the elevator side service was basically mediated by ipads which is fine but the menu wasn't that well designed kinda confusing but i know it was meant to speed things up in the kitchen make sure you don't accidentally order smth on the ipad without being sure you want it; once you click it, the order gets sent to the kitchen got the classic tonkotsu ~$13 solid creamy broth a little on the salty side good amount of noodles a little more meat than i usually expect from other ramen places other friends ordered the curry cheese ramen had a bite of the fried chicken in it and it was amazingly crunchy even though it was sitting in the also delicious curry soup the cheese pull with the ramen was impressive we lifted the cheese a good two feet from its bowl

Delicious beef Udon and salad mmm

Absolutely delicious!! Thought this place was closed down but turns out you have to go up a rickety lift. Very cute. I had beef udon and my boyfriend had ramen, and we shared two of the $3 tapas dishes - tuna sashimi and soft shell crab. Could have eaten 20 of the crab dishes it was amazing!!! There were $7 cocktails and $3.90 wines, coming back this weekend with some friends to share heaps of Japanese tapas!!

Cheesy chicken karaage curry ramen - a feed full of flavour that's guaranteed to quench a sizeable hunger!

For the price this place is fantastic, and has a great menu, however the service was quite slow for entrées and mains, and all of the mains came out in 5 minute intervals when I dined, which was a little frustrating when we had a show at the entcent across the road to attend.

Review Highlights - Ramen Kan

“I had a Chicken Karaage starter (only $3!) followed by the Teppan Wagyu Steak (good meat although a bit well done) and a large chunk of my wife's Chicken Teriyaki Udon (great broth, great chicken).”

The staff was very friendly and you gotta love them yelling things at you in Japanese on your way in or out. I looked up some suggestions on food and ordered accordingly and I think I did a pretty good job. I agree you should definitely get the Wagyu beef (it was on special when we were there) for bbq. We also got the mushrooms with cheese fondu which was excellent....I mean cheese sauce is a win no matter what. The Seared Salmon sushi was nice as well. The Gomae was only medium and the sausages were more like hot dogs almost but still tasty. They could be a bit more creative with their sushi rolls but I guess basic keeps things easy.

Okay, I don't get why this isn't just called Korean BBQ?…read more We opted for the al carte and didn't want to do the AYCE since don't think we could do much damage. Got the following: Pork Jowl - this looked like pork belly to me and it tasted like pork belly. Wagyu short ribs - this was the only better tasting item. Prawns - eh Marinated Wagyu LA Beef ribs - this was super sweet. Didn't care for their marinated concoction. The three sauces that they supply you with here was underwhelming - this sauce that was filled with chili wasn't even spicy. It was sweet and I was expecting heat but heat level was 0. Seaweed looked a bit slimy.
