Had lunch with a dear friend at Kyuramen, and it was such a satisfying experience. The ramen…read moredefinitely lived up to the hype, no surprise they've sold over 150K bowls. We ordered a combo with chicken popcorn, which paired perfectly with our meal, and ended on a sweet note with their matcha jelly dessert. The Thai tea was good, though a bit rich and sweet for my taste. I'd recommend diluting it slightly to balance the flavor. What really stood out, aside from the food, was the ambiance. We were seated in a cozy, semi-private booth (almost like a little dining nook), which made the whole experience feel more intimate and relaxing. The staff were also quick and courteous, adding to the overall great vibe. Definitely a spot worth coming back to.

We had to press the button on the wall in order to get a server to come bring us waters and an extra place setting. That said, we were 5 people squished into a four person booth so I don't know if this place is great for groups. The food came quickly but was delicious and really good. We tried a bunch of ramens and they were all delicious. I tried the omarice, and it was good, but the glaze lacked flavor. I feel like it would be better to go with their curry sauce. Overall, a decent place for ramen, but not going to seek coming out here.

I enjoyed my miso soup, chicken wing apps and pork curry katsu entree. I bought the soda home. Service was great. Food came quick and the ambiance is nice in there.

Wafuu finally opened! We've been waiting for months for this izakaya to open. The outside looked…read moreready for a long time and the inside is gorgeous with dark woods and wood slat walls. The bar looks cool and there are even sakura branches up in the ceiling. I wonder if they are waiting for the printer to deliver real menus because these stapled together printer sheets are really getting ragged even after only a month. The food pics are nice though. And you can use the QR code laminated to the table to order. We did it the old-fashioned way by politely speaking to our server. We got a variety of dishes to share, starting with the Yakitori platter. For $19.99, you can choose 5 skewers from the a la carte selections (except for the pricier seafood skewers). They were grilled and seasoned well. I really liked the Fried Kaki (aka kaki fry, fried oysters). The breaded oysters were tender, fresh & juicy. We also shared Chicken Yakiudon, Yakiniku Don & Pork Katsu Don. The yakiudon was very good and the katsu was crispy and generously sized. I did not like the sauce on the beef in yakiniku don. The texture tasted strange. I'll try the gyudon next time. There are a lot of restaurants on this block with a variety of ethnic cuisines and I would make Wafuu a regular spot when we come to Forest Hills.
