R1. Tonkotsu Ramen
Clara V.

Service is alright. Simple deco. Been here many times for past few years before I decided to give it a review. The noodles doesn't seem homemade. Both soup and noodles is extremely salty or used plenty of msg. We always feel so thirsty after consuming them. They may have variety of names but somehow all taste alike. Much room for improvement.

Came here again and the food was just as good as the first time. Wife got general chicken and I got ramen and dumplings again. All made in house. It was close to closing and they still served us and was very friendly. Not mad or trying to rush us out like other places would do.

Spicy miso ramen

Restaurant is clean and the owner is very nice and prompt. It is a Japanese/Chinese fusion restaurant. We ordered steamed pork dumplings (made in house) and they were quite good! My spicy miso ramen was a little salty. The broth wasn't as savory. The dense miso was overcompensating for the broth. The pork, chashu, was flavorful. The eggs, ajitsuke tamago, was also a little salty. It is more cooked than the typical yolk-y type but I didn't mind. My cousins got the spicy tonkotsu ramen and really liked it. The ramen portions are big with lots of noodles. I liked this type of noodles, chewy with texture. Takoyaki was decent. It didn't have most toppings you would normally have. It only had mayonnaise for toppings- hence, missing the bonito flakes, takoyaki sauce, and pickled red ginger. Overall, Food-wise, it would be a 3.0 for me. I would have to try a different ramen next time for a solid conclusion. Menu pictures updated.

Ramen

Best ramen I've had !! And fast service. Great place for family to come eat . Also try their dumplings .. amazing !

Chinese fried chicken

I had a very enjoyable experience at Ramen Joy. To start this is Chinese Ramen vs Japanese or even Thai Ramen. Each variation is different, from the broth to the noodles. With that stated Ramen Joy hits the spot for your Ramen fix. The staff here are very attentive and easily answers any questions about the menu. This restaurant also has other Chinese dishes that I suggest you try. The dumplings here are homemade and quite amazing. We also ordered the fried chicken, which was also super good. Same goes for the crab Rangoon. Which I have to say ranks up in the top three that I have ever had. For the Ramen, its slightly different from Japanese Ramen that you can get in Irving, Fort Worth or Old Denton. But it is just as good. I went with the number one: Tonkotsu Ramen. Which had a tasty broth , great noodles and nice pork. I added a little spice to make it just right. My wife had the curry beef ramen that was also very tasty. Overall we had a great time here, and a fulfilling meal that was reasonably priced. I recommend Ramon joy to anyone who want some yummy noodles to satisfy your Ramen cravings.

Spicy Beef Ramen extra beef ball (no egg)

Delicious, what else can I say? I highly recommend the spicy beef ramen and pan fried dumplings. Clean, homely and welcoming. Staff sits you socially distant so you can feel comfortable eating and I have not yet found anything I do not like on their menu. Once again, delicious!

Ramen Joy sad restaurant sign :(...

Driving up to the place, I should have took the restaurant sign as a "sign" of the food and service. Walking in, it appears to be an old Taco Bell restaurant. With that being said it does not have a unique feel on the outside. On the inside it was barren; there were only two other customers in the restaurant. The lady was a nice lady but very quiet, very mousey. When there was an order, she told some guy across the restaurant and he seemed to have an attitude. I ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen and crab dragons with a water. I kid you not, before 5 minutes were up by food comes right on out. It took me off hybsurprise, considering that coming all these items would at least take a few more minutes than five. As I look at the ramen sitting sadly in front of me, the lake of fat th as t was layered on top seemed a little excessive. The pork did not look recently cooked, and tasted as if it was cooked a long while ago. The noodles do not seem home made. The shape and taste were just bland. The broth was watery with no flavor. The boiled egg was overcooked and excessive hard. The crab rangoon were not hot. They were luke warm at best. This signified tone that these were just sitting around. There was no remnant of it being fried recently either. No tiny droplets of oil, no soaking of my napkin making it translucent. For the price of all these items, I would spend the extra couple of dollars and eat some Hanabi.

Ok first off this ramen joint is more Chinese oriented not Japanese. The first thing I ordered was the tonkotsu ramen the pork broth was ok good not amazing but good. The ramen isn't like those instant ramen thank god and that was ok too. Really wanted the boiled egg to be soft boiled but I'm pretty sure it's only hard boiled here. The tonkotsu pork meat was ok pretty meaty it had a chew to it more than a fall apart so idk if y'all like that. So over all the ramen was just good not amazing but acceptable. The second thing I ordered was the hand made dumplings and I got the pork dumplings. Was really impressed that they were hand made and had a good size to them pretty happy about that. Oh and o got them steamed not pan fried bc steamed is the way to go lol. Probably comeback and get them pan fried next time. Oh there's no dipping sauce so ask for a mini bowl for sauce and the condiments on the table is for like a dim sum style sauce so remember this one table spoon each of soy sauce, Chinese vinegar, and a spoken full of chili oil. Over all get the hand made dumplings! My service at this place was great not a problem always being checked on and getting my drink refilled. (A+) thanks to the white man lol came in on his first day here. Only reason for my three star was it's a pretty good hole in the wall restaurant and do not have high expectations of this place. Even though I've had better ramen this one was just ok and the price was just right. Wouldn't mind coming back to this place again.

The Spicy Miso is a good fish and modestly priced. There aren't many ramen restaurants in the area so this is a good option.

It's located in Hurst in a little strip mall that's mostly empty but you can see the concentration of business and cars in the corner on the side where this restaurant is, when we first walked in we both noticed a bit of a strange smell like I would describe as mildew and I think that's because they were running two portable air conditioner units inside so I don't think this is something that's on the regular and after we sat down neither of us noticed it again. As we walked in I also noticed That this place has a nice little cozy feel to it with some interesting decor, beautiful paintings on the wall and kind of an old school feel which I enjoy, there's an upstairs section that's pretty cool looking also where you can have private events or family style gatherings. Right off the bat the service was very friendly and attentive, we ordered two appetizers the shrimp Yakitori and an order of the pork and vegetable egg rolls both appetizers were fresh and delicious, I also had upon the servers recommendation their honey lemon ice tea which was very good. For our entrees My girlfriend ordered the spicy beef bulgogi and I ordered the spicy pork bulgogi, our food came out in a timely manner and was fresh and hot. The portion size was very good and I was happy to see the ratio of meat to vegetable was about 90% meat to 10% vegetable which is what I expect in a bulgogi. Overall I really liked this place and if I'm in Hurst I wouldn't hesitate to drop back in for some more delicious Korean food at Yori! P.s. No table grills just FYI

I heard of Hoshi Ramen, while looking for restaurants I might want to visit in the future…read more Today, was that day, that I went to Hoshi Ramen. The restaurant is very elegant, very neat, clean and well organized. I got there as they opened, and was promptly greeted by Ms. Lucy, hoste/waitress, who was soft spoken, very welcoming, with a very nice smile and beautiful personality, and was very efficient. She took my order, brought me a glass of water, and I ordered the Shoyu chicken ramen for $13.00 plus $2.00 added for a large. The Shouyu Chicken ramen was very delicious, the chicken broth was so good great flavor. Albeit, in my humble opinion the noodles, other toppings and chicken was very sparse for the price of the ramen. But, as far as taste goes it was one the best I have had so far. I also had the chicken fried rice bowl, for $10.00 $2.00 added for chicken, and gyoza (6pcs), for $7.00. to go for my daughter. The chicken fried rice was very flavorful, and daughter said the guys was very delicious. I will most definitely be coming here again the food was very satisfying, Ms. Lucy, is awesome and very kind. Please come on in and support this great ramfn restaurant. Hope to see you there. I highly recommend it.

Back from Japan and craving Ramen we started the hunt for a local spot today…read more The service was excellent and the restaurant itself had a nice ambiance. Gyoza to start that were nice and crispy, could have done with more than the teaspoonful of sauce we were given though. Maximum tea points, hot green tea that tasted delicious and was served in the cutest little pot I've seen in a while. It was a terrible pourer though, but the waiter warned me and put some napkins on the table to clean up. The ramen was quite disappointing, I know how spoiled I currently am with the memory of Ichibahn burned into my brain, but...these were quite pricey and not that good. The broth was lightly flavored with little depth, the beansprouts and corn (why are these in my ramen?) Moved the flavour profile even brighter and there was quite a lot of green onion. With a $5 add on for 2 small slices of extra pork that's a $20 bowl. So yes, 3 stars. They have bottled Kirin so I might be back, but I will be exploring the other menu items.

The space feels intimate and welcoming, the kind of spot where the steam from the bowls fogs up the windows and time slows down just enough to enjoy your meal. The ramen is where Kintaro really shines. The broth is deeply flavored and comforting, rich without feeling heavy, and clearly simmered with care. Every sip feels intentional. The noodles have that perfect bite, springy and substantial, soaking up the broth without going soft. Toppings are generous and well balanced, especially the pork, which is tender and savory and melts into the broth in the best way. What really sells the experience is how everything works together. The warmth of the space, the aroma of the kitchen, and the layered flavors in the bowl create something that feels less like a quick meal and more like a small ritual. It's the kind of place you want to linger, finishing the last drops of broth even when you're already full. Kintaro isn't flashy or overhyped. It's just solid, soulful ramen served in a space that feels like a refuge. If you're craving something comforting and satisfying, this is absolutely the spot.

Unfortunately, with this meal, I refused to let this slip by. I pass this place often, and with the Anime store being next door, I thought I'd try both places since they were next to one another. White Chocolate Matcha: This was very good, to be honest, this was the only thing that turned out right. The white chocolate didn't weigh it down with too much sweetness, which was a plus. There was a great balance of the two. I will definitely get a matcha boba from them again. Grilled Shrimp Spring Rolls: Horrible. The shrimp were significantly overcooked; they were not edible. There was no way that someone who calls themselves a chef, would have allowed that to be plated. If anything, the shrimp should have gone into the trash. So, unacceptable. Shrimp Flat Noodle Stir-Fry: Another blunder, the shrimp were the same. Not edible, and the sauce was like soup; it was very loose and lacked flavor. I couldn't let this go by without being acknowledged by their management; they need to know what's coming out of their kitchen, not all will speak up. Management: Henry, the manager, was exceptional; I don't want that to be missed. When I called to speak with a manager, the information was given to him, including the purchase receipt they had on file. With me not being there to show him the food, I thought that was going to be an issue. If needed, I would have been more than happy to head back with the food. I explained to him the condition of the shrimp in the rolls and entree, and he offered a refund or to remake the items. I wanted to pay for what was made well, but he refunded the whole order. That was kind of him, and I hope, after speaking with me, he spoke to the chef about our call. They have great boba, but I don't trust the other foods enough to suggest more than that. Based on the reviews, they do have things to be enjoyed, but I don't think I'll get anything else from them outside of the boba/smoothie. The takeout area was clean and offered seating while you waited for your food.

Needless to say, I was disappointed with the service this time. I wouldn't say it wasn't busy, but it wasn't full either. There were two servers (one male and one female) running the whole restaurant, which is understandably frustrating on their end. However, service was not great. Never once were we checked in after receiving the food (which also took 15, maybe 20 minutes to reach us when it was never this long before) and even after completing our meals we had to flag down our male server multiple times to get a to-go box and our bill. I made eye contact with the female server and moved my bill folder containing my card. She glanced at me and kept walking, and I assumed she told the male server to check on us. But when he came out he walked right by our table and did something else. We called out politely two more times but he didn't hear us. My stepfather was ready to walk up to him instead but I ushered him to wait. Eventually the male server completed our transaction and we silently walked out the store. This restaurant is considered one of my stepfather's favorites; but even he was flabbergasted at the service provided tonight. I really hope the restaurant hires more staff as they look overwhelmed.
