Overall, I had a good experience. The customer service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. My order took a little longer than expected, but the food was fresh and worth the wait. I was a little disappointed that I stopped by in the evening hoping to order a bento box, only to find out they're only available earlier in the day. It would be helpful if that information was posted more clearly. The specialty roll was delicious, and the California roll tasted good as well. My only suggestion would be to make the rolls a little larger. Compared to other sushi restaurants I've visited, both the California roll and specialty roll were on the smaller side. The quality and flavor were there, I just would have liked a little more value in the portion size. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would recommend this restaurant. It's been a while since I've came back to this place as the food was mediocre at best. However, my family enjoys the place enough that I accompanied them back here. Needless to say, I was disappointed with the service this time. I wouldn't say it wasn't busy, but it wasn't full either. There were two servers (one male and one female) running the whole restaurant, which is understandably frustrating on their end. However, service was not great. Never once were we checked in after receiving the food (which also took 15, maybe 20 minutes to reach us when it was never this long before) and even after completing our meals we had to flag down our male server multiple times to get a to-go box and our bill. I made eye contact with the female server and moved my bill folder containing my card. She glanced at me and kept walking, and I assumed she told the male server to check on us. But when he came out he walked right by our table and did something else. We called out politely two more times but he didn't hear us. My stepfather was ready to walk up to him instead but I ushered him to wait. Eventually the male server completed our transaction and we silently walked out the store. This restaurant is considered one of my stepfather's favorites; but even he was flabbergasted at the service provided tonight. I really hope the restaurant hires more staff as they look overwhelmed. read more

Came pretty early on a Friday after work. The place was under half full or at least felt like it because it's so spacious. The workers know their customers. Even commenting on how one hasn't been by in a while. As for the food, my boyfriend's was better than mine! My maki came out last but warm. They were still editable and I cleaned my dish of course. The spider roll wasn't really a wow factor. I'd skip that one. My boyfriend's fried rice was GOOD AS HECK. I'd probably just order a big bowl of it next time. We share crab ragoons, they aren't cheap with the filling so that was a nice surprise! The space is very clean and they have a full bar it seems. With about 6-8 beers on tap. This place has some really great reviews, from the food to the service. Unfortunately that was not my experience. I'll start with the service. The waitress was obviously new, and that's ok, but you can at least be friendly. I came in at lunch time and ordered the sushi bento. She asked me what kind of sushi I wanted, I was under the impression it was a set deal, so I asked what my options were. She showed me a list of maki rolls. I told her that I wanted the sushi bento, not the maki bent. Her reply "Yeah, maki is sushi". Ok. But I want the sushi bento not the maki bento and I had to show her the difference on the menu. No laughing off the goof, or apology for her snotty response. She again asked me what sushi I wanted and then realized it was a set combo. It took a while to come out, there was only one other table occupied by two people, though it was the random week between Christmas and New Year. When it did come out, it was underwhelming. The bento comes with a gyoza and shumai, that have been fried. Neither one of these things were hot, or fresh. The sushi was just meh. The best thing on the plate was the salad. Coming from Hawai'i, I struggled to find a sushi restaurant with affordable prices. Of course, my husband and I found some great places in Dallas, but that's 30-45 minutes from our home - without traffic. That's not doable with this island girl's craving for sashimi. In the area we live in, there are many Polynesian communities, so I figured there has to be a place to satisfy our cravings. Of course, no one can beat fresh poke bowl in Hawai'i, but after living in Texas for over two years, we've found some great cuisines. I was happy that my husband stumbled onto Chihiro a year ago. We've been coming back for date nights ever since. It is a bit pricey, but the quality of the food served is exquisite! The cuts, sauces, soups, and everything I've tried is delicious. The bartender, Jen, is amazing! The drinks that she made me were tasty and quick! She's easy to talk to and creates meaningful conversations. She makes sure that you're well taken care of. Back of the house and sushi bar are on their game! The dish presentation and taste are always breathtaking. Bravo! My favorite is the Dreamliner roll, chicken katsu, and miso soup. The Dreamliner contains raw fish so if you don't like raw fish, there are different options on the menu you can try! When in doubt, ask. The chicken katsu is crispy and perfect. It comes with rice, cabbage, and miso soup. I think every month there's a special menu/tasting pair with a spirit or wine. In October, they had a wine tasting paired with meals off the menu. It's like a special party for you and your guests. Plus! You'll get to meet other people with similar food/alcohol similarities. The cost of it varies, so it's best to come by to Chihiro or call. There are some really hit items at this spot. While I wasn't obsessed with everything I tried, the things that did stand out to me have me hooked. I will start with the most memorable item - the nutty chihiro. This was a tower dish with GRANOLA, almonds, plenty fresh fish, a variety of sauces and soooo much flavor. They are served with shrimp chips that add some extra texture and fun to the eating experience because you can scoop the tower onto each chip. You would never think to put these snack items with sushi but they have got it totally figured out. We also tried the chef's choice nigiri platter and I will definitely pass on this next time. While the salmon and tuna were good (tender, fresh)...I did not feel this way about some of the other fish. Service was great though and the restaurant itself is nice inside. Great sushi at Chihiro and our favourite place for excellent Japanese food and beer since 2018. Always a great welcoming experience and an expansive menu that covers the basics (sashimi, nigiri etc.) but also with some delightful hand crafted rolls. My favourite is the either the Euless or Crunchy Lobster, although I do love the crispy salmon skin. Sapporo, Kirin, Asahi beers on tap as well as lots of other great beers, wines, cocktails and spirits. Truly a neighbourhood gem! read more

Y'all, I only took one photo (in the shadows of my home) of one piece of the sushi I had delivered today for dinner-- I've got to do better. I don't have much photographic evidence of how beautiful and delicious Chef's Special Maki "The Cherry Blossom" is, you'll just have to order it. It's spicy salmon (buttery with a bite), apple (a cold, tart, crunchy surprise), and tempura bits (like little garlic crispies) topped with seared tuna (velvety and cherry-red) and a sriracha aioli. Plus, each perfect piece sits a top a little pillow of wasabi-creme. The perfect combo of flavors and textures, and can't get over how good the roll was even after being delivered to my house and sitting in my fridge for an hour. The fish is just so clearly super fresh, and everything from the produce to the house-made sauces to the seaweed salad is top quality and beautifully presented. Even a delivery order. This is very close to my home and has, now, become my go-to when I want good sushi. I can't say they're the best sushi around, but they are good. I usually order online, and never have I gone and my food not be ready. Everyone is always kind, and the atmosphere is inviting. Alaskan and Spider Maki I'm not a fan of salmon rolls, outside of a baked salmon roll, but with the Alaskan Roll, I was willing to take a chance. I don't think I will get it again, but I will say, it is very good. The salmon is smoked and very fresh, but I believe it was the texture that didn't fit my taste. The Spider Roll: Soft-shelled crab is something I always run to when it comes to sushi, they don't disappoint. The one thing I had an issue with, they added a tiny bit of spinach to the roll and that added an unpleasant taste. When I ordered the second time, I was able to remove that spinach and that fixed the issue. I've also tried the: Miso Soup w/ Crab, I like this, but for the price, I expected a lot more crab. I probably will not order this again, if so, I'll request more crab. Shrimp Shumai is a winner in my book. They're so dang, good!! They have dine in. The staff wear masks, there's a large hand sanitizer dispenser, and they space out the patrons. Plating and food quality is elegant and delicious. I've been here three times already in two weeks! You don't even have to add soy sauce or wasabi to ANYTHING--the menu is so perfect and well thought out. Definitely designed by food gurus. I love their soft shell tempura appetizer. The nutty chihiro is the BOMB. Who knew soy sauce, almonds, and granola with FISH works?! I was initially disappointed the lobster bomb was small. But I picked a microgreen off of it and was amazed. So much flavor packed in a tiny sprig! We tried the sushi pizza. I haven't had anything like it before. It was delicious and intriguing, and had a "crust" of tempura-d rice and nori. The volcano roll was amazing as well. I also like that they serve fresh ginger instead of the pink stuff. Portions are on the petit side, and prices are a bit more than average, but you get excellent service, a beautiful dining room, and food you don't stop thinking about. This place is on par with that *ahem* fancy place in Dallas. You know, the one that starts with an "N"? Where you pay $200 for a meal for two and still leave hungry? Yeah. This place is a quarter of that price. Also, props to our waiter, Michael, for his consistently upbeat and cheerful demeanor. They have a nice bar with TV's (but no sound, which is a plus if you want to have a conversation) where you can have a drink and some sushi or other menu items. I like sushi which is very good but some it our party were not in to eating fish (cooked or raw) so we had some entrees from the kitchen especially the Katsu and vegetables fried rice.
