Stopped in to check out what they are having for their grand opening. It was packed with people so I decided to take it to go and have a little bit in my car before exploring the afternoon on this side of town. I ordered something I haven't had in a while which is Bopis. I rarely see this on the menu and it's a dish I don't know how to make at home. It looks line they made it the ilokano version since it is drier, not saucy. This definitely hit the spot as it is what I'm used to. I enjoyed everything I had and thought that the bbq on a stick for 3/$5 was a steal. I just wished it was served hot. A little disappointed with halo-halo. I think ube ice cream is a more staple topping than the coconut ice cream they used. This is a preference according to my taste and as for aesthetic purposes. Just look at my halo-halo picture. It needs more color.

We also bring friends here to enjoy a meal with us to introduce them into filipino cuisine. They all love it! My go to is Kare kare, specifically oxtail ( when they have it). We have slowly worked our way through the menu. Sisig is also amazing here. Everything is family style. Would love to see them add dinuguan to the menu! For dessert you can never go wrong with halo halo & turn. The people here are nice. Overall a delicious meal every time we come eat! Salamat!

This was our first time in and it's a small place with some tables and very limited decor inside…read more We were greeted, welcomed, and seated by a friendly staff member. We looked over the menu and had the Lumpiang Shanghai to start which were really nice and crunchy with a sweet chili dipping sauce. For entrees we ordered the Lechon Kawali which was pieces of deep fried pork belly with two sauces and the Pancit Bihon rice noodles with chicken and pork. The Lechon was cooked nicely with some good crunch from the fried pork but it was lacking some seasoning and even with the sauces it needed a little more seasoning. The Pancit Bihon was very good with the rice noodles cooked with the perfect texture and some really good flavor with pieces of chicken and pork belly. We also ordered one of the specialty drinks Sago't Gulaman which is a brown sugar based drink with tapioca and house jelly which was very good. For me the service wasn't the best especially towards the end of the meal. We were given to go boxes and after that we were left waiting for a very long time waiting for the check and had to get up and head to the register for the server to hand us the check even though he wasn't busy and was just standing around, not to mention it wasn't busy at all. The food was good, the service could be better but we will be back to check out more of the food. Check this place out if you are in the Garland area.

Dallas is finally getting some up-and-coming Filipino food from first-generation Filipino-Americans…read morewith a love for their cultural food. Not Your Lola's is one of these very pop-ups that you can catch around town introducing most people to their very first bites of Filipino cuisine. But these dishes aren't the exact translations of their parent's traditional recipes but rather their updated, inspired takes on signature flavors and dishes. Take for instance the arroz caldo, their answer to China's congee, but they ramp up this comforting rice and chicken porridge with a myriad of toppings bursting with flavor and texture. The ginger chicken base is studded with chicken and topped with spicy chili oil, funky kimchi, crunchy picked veggies, runny eggs, sweet pork floss and crispy chicken skin. This turns every bite into a different experience on your journey to the bottom of the bowl. This comes with combinations of hot, cold, spicy, sweet, salty, savory, creamy, crunchy, but all delicious. Take their version of champorado, a very chocolatey rice pudding frequently eaten for breakfast, but presented in dessert form, topped with bruleed baby bananas, toasted coconut and that signature drizzle of sweetened condensed milk. Sweet and moreish, this invites bite after bite until there is no more. They do more than rice, however. They've presented a beautifully braised coconut milk pork belly on a crispy sesame chip. It again balanced textures and taste sensations into one condensed, cohesive bite and appeared effortless. I am excited to see what they present next as they continue to innovate and serve food around town.

On my Filipino Food adventures whenever I visit, my Auntie actually recommended this place. Here…read morewas our experience. AMBIANCE Parking: Plaza parking. It was pretty big so we didn't have any issues. Seating: Inside seating. Good for pairs or groups. Room for maybe 50-60 people. Vibes: The area is nothing too flashy. It's a suburban area mixed with chain businesses and local gems. The spot itself is an experience. We were lucky as we were welcomed with some afternoon karaoke. It's a spacious space with a compacted grocery on side, dining and karaoke stage, and then passing the food line is an extension to the coffee shop next door. Great place to relax, find your singing community, and enjoying some comforting Filipino food. FOOD / DRINKS Bilao (means wooden platter) (Recommend) You're welcomed with a medley of Filipino good eats - bbq skewers/pork belly, fried tilapia, lumpia, shrimp, egg roll, and rice. This is a traditional delight so if you're looking for the Filipino experience and comforting flavors, this is your best bet. You have flavorful savory meats, vegetal okra, garlic shrimp, and some crispy/cackling fish and lumpia. You definitely need a group of people (5-8) to finish this. Sago't Gulaman (means tapioca pearls and jelly) (Recommend) For a nice refreshing drink, this felt like sweet tea. A good balance of tapioca pearls and jelly that didn't overwhelm the drink. CUSTOMER SERVICE Celine was awesome! Friendly and super helpful as we navigated the menu. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. Good food, reasonable prices and an all in all pleasant experience. Visiting from California and coming from a family of good cooks, I'm quite critical on Filipino food but this hits. I enjoyed the dishes, products, and enjoyed the community vibes they built. For those looking for Filipino comfort flavors or if you're trying it for the first time, definitely check them out! The prices,…read morehowever, are a bit steep for the portions, relative to other Filipino restaurants I've been to. A double plate at $12.99 (at the time of this review) comes with two entrees and a single scoop of rice, and there's a $2.50 upcharge for "premium" items, like Squid Adobo. For one of the double plates I ordered, I requested for Chicken Adobo, which only came with three small pieces of meat. Service: Went here on two occasions, and both were void of the feeling of welcome or hospitality you'd expect from a Filipino establishment. Ambiance: Casual. Parking: Ample parking. Located in a plaza.
