    Dulce de Leche
    Lily M.

As a Hurst resident I knew I had to try this place, so today I decided to bring my family here. Friendly service from the start. We were welcomed as soon as we stepped through the door, and the kids were offered stickers while we were deciding what to get. The place is super cute inside and they have a really neat bathroom. I had the Dulce de Leche shaved snow and it was the best snow cone I have ever had. My kids and husband also really enjoyed theirs. My husband kept raving about how good this place was on the way home. The place is clean and aesthetically pleasing. I will definitely be coming back! Give them a try and thank me later. ***I had called ahead to make sure they took Mastercard, because one reviewer said they did not. The lady on the phone was surprised by my question and told me they took ALL cards! I can confirm that they DO take Mastercard, since my card went through just fine, so I don't know what that review was about. ***

Today was not a good day at Vampire Penguin. We have been going there often since they opened. When we ordered I asked the lady at the front if "conjure your own" included 3 toppings. She assured me that it did. Once she rang us up, I noticed we were charged for each topping. I questioned her and she didn't seem to have a good answer. She then said "all of the toppings are 75 cents each" this is the first time I have had to pay for the toppings. I always only get 3. It really makes no sense, if I were to get a menu item I would get more toppings for less money. When the previous owners were there it was always 3 toppings. But my main point, is the menu is very deceptive. If you are ok paying $25 dollar for 3 very small desserts head on over but be careful how they charge you. And don't expect great costumer service. I am so happy to that Vampire Penguin is here in the mid cities. It is a small family owned business. I was talking to one of the owners and right now it is just her, her husband and her mother in law working right now but they are hoping to be able to get going to where they can hire some teens in time for summer break! They serve shaved ice, it reminded me of another locally owned business that I miss from years ago! I tried a banana flavor which was outstanding, when my husband and I stopped in when running errands. I know my youngest will probably go for one called oogie boogie when we bring him in.

My wife had heard about vampire penguin online; so we stopped for a mini date before grabbing groceries. Our desserts reminded my wife of a place she had taken our oldest to meet up with friends a number of times in the past. They have a lot of choices from chocolate to fruit based ones. Staff was friendly and checked in with us. It is still very much a family run establishment!

Great visit for some amazing treats. Delicately sweetened with a touch of love. The staff is always friendly here. They get the desserts out quickly and help with getting exactly what you want. Very clean business and always straightened up between customers. Love this place! 5 stars!

Was hoping this place was similar to Lumi Snow that is no longer open. It was and did not disappoint! The staff is friendly & there are lots of choices. There are inside and (and a few) outside tables. Inside, there are bright walls with their logo & even a huge chair for photo ops.

Awesome alternative to ice cream, froyo, Gelato, and normal shaved ice and healthier than most. This is a must try if you're in the area. It's so unique how they get ice to taste creamy and a ton of great options to try. The place is super clean. Friendly service from the owners too!

I don't even remember the names, and the menu is seasonal. It was all good and customizable though.

Hours of operation are insane. Other than that, this place is great. The staff are friendly and helpful. Knowledgeable about the company and it's history, as well as the menu and ingredients. The snow itself is delicious, and I'll definitely be back!

We tried this new ice cream place out tonight, and it was so good! The staff was friendly, and even though you could tell they were a little stressed with all the business while they are still learning the recipes, they were positive and kind and working hard. The shop is cute with little seating options indoor and outdoor. They have a pretty great selection of options of snow and three different sizes. My husband had banana cream pie, my son had strawberry cheesecake customized, and I had the Dulce de Leche. All three of us loved the light consistency and the great flavors. We will be back again soon!

I took my daughter and we both LOVED this!!! I had strawberry cheesecake and she had cocoa loco. Both were delicious!!!! The sweetest lady helped us at the counter and brought out our treats. We ate in the store which was clean and quiet. This is a MUST TRY!!!!

What a fun place to stumble upon on a hot summer evening in Texas! I got there around 6:45 pm and they were very busy. I ordered my dish to go, as I thought there would not be a place to sit, but it cleared out fairly quickly. I was able to have a conversation with the nice lady who appeared to be the owner or manager. It was fun to watch the "cooks" painstakingly prepare each order, and they were all very friendly and happy to chat when not busy making orders. The place was very clean - they're vigilant about keeping the tables and chairs clean and free of crumbs and debris. There are two tables that sear four people and three or four tables that seat two, along with two small tables outside. I notice they have discounts for seniors, military, and teachers, but I didn't ask for additional details. I was given a punch card, which I can already tell will be put to good use! My Strawberry Cheescake was delish! Next time, I'm going to try the Twix. I really hope this business thrives! Please go there...often! You'll be glad you did!

We tried both the mango and ube malasadas, and they were absolutely delicious. The pastries were soft, fluffy, and perfectly pillowy, while the fillings were rich, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The ube was a standout for me, but the mango was just as incredible and tasted so fresh. They also served halo-halo, a popular Filipino shaved ice dessert layered with sweet fruits, jellies, beans, and topped with creamy ingredients. It was the perfect treat for a warm day and a wonderful introduction to Filipino desserts for anyone who hasn't tried it before. What made the experience even better was learning that Wiki-licious is a family-owned business. You can really feel the passion, hospitality, and care they put into everything they serve. It's always a pleasure supporting local businesses that share their culture through food. If you ever see them at a community event or have the opportunity to visit, do yourself a favor and grab a malasada (or two) and try the halo-halo as well. I'll definitely be seeking them out again. Looking at all the flavor options online ahead of time had me so excited to try them. I ended up ordering: two regular, one mango, and one Bavarian cream. The Bavarian cream was hands-down my absolute favorite--the texture and sweetness were perfect. The mango flavor didn't have quite as much filling as I hoped for, but honestly, the malasada dough itself is so incredibly delicious, fluffy, and perfectly fried that it didn't even matter. What I appreciate most is that they clearly use their own unique recipe. They aren't trying to just copy Leonard's or Kamehameha Bakery; they're doing their own awesome thing and killing it. #IYKYK Can't wait to get these again!

The kids I've seen working there are kind and patient with people's questions and quick with counting change -- it's cash-only here! This isn't the kind of snow cone stand where you hang out during the day -- you're in a parking lot with no tables and zero shade. This is literally just a little box of a building with a window -- a happy fortress of frozen treats in the middle of an asphalt desert. But people will kinda hang around in and outside of their cars after the sun goes down. I like to get the "teletubbies" specialty flavor which is pina colada and pineapple. I love a coconutty dessert (they have a sugar-free coconut syrup here that's really good). And then of course I like to add a little cream...! It's so summery and delicious.
