The food is amazing. The service is hit or miss so maybe take your order to go when they are busy. You know that feeling that your a bother when your spending money? That's the vibe when they get busy. The manager was stomping and slamming plates down and just rude. We have been here 6-7 times and unless we get some of the younger staff it's a rushed hurry up what do you want and God forbid you want a refill you will get even more attitude! Bummer cause the food is delicious! When I decide to not cook at home I like good food plus good service but tonight was a fail. read more

Have been a customer for about 2 years and this ramen never ceases to amaze me. Traveled all around DFW area, Vegas, Seattle, and Philly trying as many Ramen bowls possible. None have quite compared to Ramen Head. The appetizers and service are always exceptional even when busy. The Ramen is always consistent and delicious! We ordered take out via their website. I really like their online ordering system. Food was fine, but not impressive. I suggest the owner to change the to go containers for ramens. It will be better to separate the soup base and noodles in different containers. I am super happy there is an authentic Japanese ramen place in Rockwall. We don't need to drive 30+ miles to Dallas or Plano for a bowl of ramen anymore. read more

LOVED the food... Enjoyed it so much I gave it a second go despite the fact that I had digestive issues after the first time (thought maybe it was coincidence) but experienced even a worse reaction after the second time! (So bad only Pepto bismol from the local gas station made it possible to make the drive home!!!) Have talked to two others that had the same reaction. Bottom line, food TASTES amazing. If you have an iron gut GO FOR IT you won't be disappointed. If you have any digestive issues at all, I recommend a PASS. read more

First time at Ramen Head and had a very nice experience. On this day, the restaurant was relatively busy but we were quick to be seated with menus and waters. The menu had a nice selection of ramen and rice dishes with prices ranging from 10-15$. I wanted to try their ramen so I ordered the signature Tonkotsu and black garlic ramen, both with face melting spice level to see if it were spicy or not. After 10 mins, the food arrived looking delightful and delicious. The broth was rich, hardy, well balanced and very flavorful. The noodles were cooked just right and chasu was fatty, tender and down right delicious. Both ramen were excellent however if you are new to the ramen game, I would suggest the Tonkotsu because the black garlic ramen can be a bit overpowering if you are not used to intense garlic flavor. The face melting spice level was quite spicy but was just right for me. Be warn though, it will make you breathe fire. Overall, the ramen was excellent and reasonably priced. Will certainly come again to try their other dishes. read more

Great spot for lunch with friends. We had never had ramen before so we weren't sure what to order. The waiter explained everything to us and helped us make our choices. Mine was Black Garlic Ramen with chicken. I got mild spice which was delicious, but the medium would have been good too. The flavor of this dish is out of this world! Definitely try this place, you won't be disappointed. Side note, masks are not required! read more

Amazing service! They were busy and we were seated pretty quickly and the wait wasn't overwhelmingly long. The appetizers were TOO DIE FOR! 10/10. We got the Asian street corn & the pork chashu buns- and loved them both! I got the black garlic ramen & my husband got the tonkotsu. They were both extremely tasteful- the broths on each of them was so rich and amazing! I recommend all of the things we had and we can't wait to come back. The only thing we weren't used too was the noodles that were used being slightly thicker and we still loved it! 5 star place for sure! read more

Well... I've never had so many mixed feelings while completing a review, but this one is going to be a bit of a different one. There are several things I'd like to address here, but I will begin with my dining experience there tonight. We drove forty-five minutes to try this place. After finding it on Facebook and following for a few weeks, I told my wife we had to give it a shot. We both love ramen and have had it from all over. We've had some of the most soul warming, down to the gut wrenching ones. That being said, we were very excited for this shop. First off, the location is BEAUTIFUL. It's a small, cozy spot in "The Square" in Rockwall. The decor inside is very well thought out, and it's obvious that so much time and work was put into this place. They have amazing artwork on the walls, cute origami hanging in the entrance, as well as a zen garden. There are many small details that make this place even more charismatic; such as the hot lavender water soaked towels you are given before your meal to clean your hands, or the elegant cutlery placed on the tables. Our server Brant was fantastic! Very attentive and respectful during our entire visit. If you see this, thanks for that, bud! I surely hope management sees the astounding work he does. Now for the food. My son had the mini chasu pork bowl. He said it was yummy, and after a couple of "sampling" bites, I agree. If anything it was just a bit on the overly sweet/salty side. Perhaps larger pieces of pork would mellow it out, or a lighter hand with the hoisin. My wife and I had the Signature Tonkotsu, both in mild spice. It was extremely refreshing to see a bowl of ramen come out with such stunning presentation. The bowl came with chasu pork, a whole marinated egg (cut in half), two pieces of carrot garnish, a slice of fish cake, and green onion. The pork was perfect. Flavorful, tender, and the bowl came with two slices, which was the right amount for this size ramen. The marinated egg was quite good, but I personally prefer a bit more of the soy sauce to come through. I may be mistaken but they seem to use perhaps mirin or sake as part of the recipe to marinate the eggs, and that came through more than anything else. They were still good, but a bit off of what I enjoy personally. The carrots were a nice touch, nothing too crazy. Fresh if anything. Fish cake as well, nothing to get too excited about. It's just fish cake. The noodles were just right; not too overcooked or undercooked. Enough bite without struggling to cut them off. Of course, any person who really loves ramen knows that the key piece of any ramen bowl is the broth. They continuously promote on social media with claims of a very rich and creamy broth. I can assure you that this is actually very accurate! The signature Tonkotsu blasts an extremely rich and cling on to your noodles, pork broth. I've really only seen one other shop with a similar viscosity. I loved how it coated the other ingredients which gave you flavor in every bite. Speaking of flavor, that was maybe the only thing I found, not so much "wrong", with this broth, but more so different. I've had many, many bowls of Tonkotsu, and this one was unlike any before. I still thought it was well crafted and flavorful, but just not quite what I would consider Tonkotsu per se. Like I mentioned, still delicious. I would have really liked a few more things in the ramen; perhaps some mushrooms or pickled ginger strips. A few things to really take this bowl to the next level. This place has such great potential, but I would most definitely suggest refining a few things. ...and for the other part of this review. I took some time to read through the previous reviews, as I normally do, because when there are negative natured reviews management will usually address them and it gives you a feel for how they run the place. After four or five reads, it's clear the Ramen H. person in charge of replies here takes negative reviews a bit harshly. As a Chef that runs two separate SI businesses, I have learned the importance of taking criticism. Sure some of the reviews may be unfair and even have false statements, but coming at them passive aggressively doesn't do much good for your restaurant. I understand it takes a lot of hard work to put out food and keep customers happy. It's not easy, you put everything you have into your restaurant, that when someone is unhappy or rejects it, it just kinda sucks. I do appreciate however that as I read reviews from the past couple months, I notice there were things that were suggested and changes were made. I wish your restaurant the best of luck. It's a great Ramen Shop! read more

Edit: Thanks to the unprofessionalism and rudeness of the owner's reply to my review (as well as other bad reviews) we will not be giving this place a second try. I'll give this place another try in a few months and maybe it will improve. But for now, the food here is not great. The service was very good, I'll give them that. First of all, my husband and I love ramen. We've had amazing ramen in Japan and Vancouver, and we've had it all across the US (both good and bad). So we were pretty excited to have a restaurant so close to home! But it just really was not good. We started off with pork buns and the buns themselves were soft and wonderful, but they each had so much sauce in them (that just tasted like overly sweet and salty bbq) that it overwhelmed everything else. I actually ended up taking mine apart and just eating the top part of the bun that wasn't slathered in sauce. Then we had the tonkatsu light ramen (because the original was scratc. The broth is the key to ramen and this broth was essentially just incredibly salty cream - no other flavors. And I mean SALTY. My tongue had gone numb from the salt by the end of the meal! We both got medium spice level and there was absolutely no spice in it at all. There was also hardly anything else in it other than noodles. There was a sliver of meat (again with the sauce), two thin carrot slices, half an egg, and one narutomaki. I really hope they change up their recipes because I want the place to do well and stick around. We need more variety of food like this in the area. read more

Waiter that is always there she was our waitress today she was very rude and kept ignoring us when we needed somthing. Only came to take our order and take the bill. It was a horrible service tonight I highly don't recommend it. Unless you wanna experience the same atmosphere as dicks last resort where they ignore you and only want your money. They over charge for 3 meals. Not worth it never ever again. read more

This ramen spot has THE WORST ramen I have ever had in my life. Not only was the food awful, it was over priced and the employees are some of the rudest I have ever delt with too. We were on their waiting list and we're texted at 7:52 pm saying our table was ready and asking us to confirm that we were still coming. I responded to the text to indicate yes we were coming. At 7:57pm I received another text from the business saying that I needed to arrive in the next five minutes to be sat. We arrived inside the restaurant at exactly 8:02pm and were greeted with the rudest "sorry we're closed. We can't seat you" I then explained to her my text message communication with the restaurant and she STILL was refusing to seat us. It was not until a manager? Came out and allowed us to be sat that we were able to get a table. After that we were served the worst food I have ever eaten along with dirty looks from the hostess. They made our visit super uncomfortable and the food was awful. Oh yeah, the real kicker was they didn't even close until 8:30pm!! I can only assume we got this treatment because of my husbands race. I can't think of any other reason for it. Worst restaurant. Worst food. Worst service. EDIT: in response to the owners comment: it is unfortunate that you can not see how we were treated rudely, that shows a problem right there. Additionally, no, we did not eat "most" of our good. As you can see in your footage, we packed it up to go and left. Then trashed it in the closest trash can out front. We did not mention it to the staff of manager because we were treated so cuddly upon entering that we did not feel comfortable. Just packed it up, paid, and left. EDIT EDIT: damn. I went and read other bad reviews. Wish I had sooner. This owner has a clear problem with criticism and thinks the world of himself. Will never support this business again and wish I didn't the first time. read more

This place is awesome! I had miso hot ramen, the broth was tasty, not too spicy and the pork belly was VERY tender! We also met the owner and she was very nice. AMAZING!! The food and service are fantastic!! We had the Japanese Deviled Eggs as an appetizer. I don't even know where to start. They were delicious. Next up we had the Shrimp Tempura Bowl and the Black Garlic Ramen. Shrimp had a light batter that was fried perfectly. Good size shrimp, light batter and full of flavor. The pickled onions gave each bite a nice little pop of flavor. Now, the ramen- OMG THAT BROTH WAS BOMB AF!! I got the medium spicy level and the heat was nice. Lighter than I expected so don't be afraid of it. The Chasu was tender and falling apart. So full of flavor!! The noodles tasted like they are made in house. Excellent bowl of ramen. We ended our meal with the Apple Pie Egg Rolls. Umm excuse me, but who came up with this?? So darn good!! You get three rolls and we were fighting over the last one!! The outside is crispy and covered w cinnamon sugar, inside is warm soft apples, then drizzled w chocolate sauce and Carmel sauce with a few dollops of fresh whip cream. I scream, you scream, we all scream for these dam apple pie egg rolls!!! Excellent meal. BTW our waitress was awesome. She had wonderful recommendations, kept our drinks full, checked on us to make sure we didn't need anything and to be sure we were happy w our meal. Oh, we were definitely happy with our meal!! read more

I will give this place another chance in the future but my first impression is that it was sub par. The broth didn't really had a flavor, just salty. To me that's the most important element about a Ramen shop. Besides that, their signature bowl of Ramen was 18$ , Way overpriced for broth and noodles. I could get a nice steak at Saltgrass for the same amount. As our waitress said, "this place has potential". She is right but it needs to start with the broth. read more

I've eaten ramen all over the Metroplex. This might be my favorite. The deviled eggs are a must! Our party of four ordered just one order but quickly decided another round was needed. The goyoza was also excellent. The black garlic ramen was well seasoned and rich. The eggs were perfectly soft-boiled. And they included fish cake, which hasn't been common in my DFW ramen experience. The other members of our party loved their tonkatsu. Extra egg and extra noodles are available---and worth it. The service was excellent. Staff are friendly. Drinks stayed filled. Food was prompt. Appetizers arrived quickly. On COVID issues, tables were well-spaced. Staff were masked for the most part. They required all patrons to sanitize their hands upon entry and wiped down all surfaces before we sat. I read some of the three-star reviews below. I don't find them helpful or representative of our experience. When you read those reviews, it seems their authors deducted stars for what I'd view as minor things, or things that don't apply to me (I'm not vegan, for example). I usually have a four-star filter. But I'm glad I followed my gut on this one. We'll definitely be back! read more

Another hit spot in downtown Rockwall! When we sat down we were immediately greeted with a smile from our waiter. Soon after receiving our drinks we were delighted to get warm hand towels, which was a nice touch on this cold January afternoon. I ordered the Japanese deviled eggs, and it was by far the best I have ever had. They have slow braised chasu on top and are marinated for 24 hours. They have the signature RH sauce on top which we ended up eating all of. Ramen Head totally transformed the tradition deviled eggs dish for me, it has great fresh flavors and I love that they have both ramen and Street eats! A menu like I have never seen before packed with flavor. The Ramen broth is dairy and gluten free and although the noodles are not you can order them gluten free as well for +$2.00. I tried the Signature Tonkotsu Ramen and Miso Hot Ramen. Both were great but my favorite is the Miso Hot Ramen because I love spice. Both ramen bowls are served with bacon, sweet corn, and other ingredients which leaves your mouth and belly feeling full and happy. The braised chasu inside the bowls which is cooked for 20 hours. I can't tell you how happy I am to have something like this in Rockwall. If you are in the area be sure to give it a try, you won't regret it. Fast, friendly service, full bar, and a whole lot of deliciousness. read more

Broth is too thick, and the colder it gets the more thick it gets. It then becomes a sauce and not a broth. Noodles are meh, but anyway, would rather drive to Hakata or Oni for the good stuff. Also the owner can't take negative criticism so BEWARE! ;) read more

I ordered through their online system, and picked up contactless. Online system was easy to navigate...big plus I was able to pay and TIP online. From the site you can request the order to be ready now or at a different time. Contactless was great they had a little table with hand sanitizer and Lysol; put the sanitizer on your hand, and get the food out of their warming type thing. I ordered the deviled eggs and regular tonkatsu. OH MY GOSH! Those eggs were insanely good! Like seriously, if you like eggs, try them! The ramen was perfect, super silky, flavorful, and just delicious. Their portions are big, lots of noodles, but next time I'm going to order extra corn and broth. If you haven't been bc of how busy it was before COVID (like me!) I really recommend trying it now. Everything was perfect with my glass of wine and Netflix. read more

The food was exceptional. Each appetizer we ordered was impressive and the ramen was delicious as well. You can taste the time & effort it took to make the bone broth. I ordered the shrimp tempura and unfortunately the rice lacked flavor. Even paired with the yummy shrimp it tasted watery. If salt was on the table, or maybe more sauce it would have been better. My son and I went during the soft open for lunch. The food was very tasty. I especially loved their deviled eggs! I would have liked to have had tea while I was there and I'm not a huge fan of having to get cans or bottles of drinks, especially at a sit down place like this. My son ordered the house ramen and I got the miso hot. While I appreciate that the house ramen has a 60 hour broth I felt like the price point was a bit too high, especially since it was six dollars more and the same size as the bowl I got. He also got very little broth in the bowl compared to mine so I'm a little on the fence on how that works. We will be back after they've been open for a little while to see if things improve. It is nice to have a ramen place close to home since I've been going to one in Richardson. I have zero complaints about the service. The wait staff was very attentive! I also like that I can put myself on the waitlist before I arrive and see how many people are ahead of me. For now I'm giving it four stars, I hope to give them five when I go back! read more

I love ramen and been to many ramen places and this by far is the worst tasting ramen I've been to. I ordered the garlic ramen. Although the broth was creamy, it lacks seasoning resulting in a bland bowl of ramen. The ratio of broth to ramen was only enough to soak the ramen and for me to get a few spoonful of broth. I would say I wish there were more broth but given the bland tasting broth, I really didn't care for more. The broth make the ramen and it really just lack basic seasoning a typical bowl of ramen should taste. I think it just lack the umami flavor. The noodle was alright, there weren't much toppings and flavor. The service was good, decor is tasteful, and music is a bit loud. read more

I will preface this by saying that I used to work in a ramen restaurant so I know what ramen normally tastes like. Additionally, I'm vegetarian so I can't speak to any of the food there that contains meat. This is mostly for vegans and vegetarian that are excited for seeing a vegan-friendly restaurant. To start with service --it was great and the only reason why I'm giving it 3 stars. Our waiter was nice and the manager was responsive to complaints. The only good vegan food we had were the veggie bao buns. The rest (vegan ramen and rice bowl) were not good. The ramen's broth was not ramen broth. It tasted like vegetable soup, as if it had a tomato base and it contained boiled carrot, yellow onion, and celery (none of these are common in ramen). Additionally, though it was supposed to contain miso there was no miso flavor. It likely wasn't made correctly (with dashi) to start with. Though it's easy to make vegan ramen broth with dashi, mushroom, and konbu. The tofu were tiny (like maybe the size of a large pea) and tasted like they fried or rolled in the same batter as the tempura shrimp (cross contamination, so if you have a shellfish allergy BEWARE). The manager was very receptive and brought us the other vegan option which was a rice bowl. It was over priced due to it being just rice with pickled onions and a large fried onion on top. It came with corn and scallion as well. Overall, bad vegan food that is overpriced and not authentic. The service was nice though as was the manager. read more
