Ramblero is a bit pricier than the other restaurants in Boqueria but the food was delicious. The seafood platter for 1 was very generous and absolutely delicious. I had the dorada and it was perfectly cooked. We had no issues with the service there- rushed service is expected when you're eating at a busy market place. This review is for our visit on Friday December 8, 2017. Like most of the restaurants in the "Mercat de Sant Josep," you sit yourself at the chairs/stools in front of the glass cases where they display their dishes. Our original plan was to eat breakfast at Pinotxo Bar or El Quim but neither places were open that Friday morning. So we decided to try Ramblero. Upon sitting down, you have silver utensils and a paper placemat in front of you that is reminiscent of a diner. The restaurant itself was decorated with brown blinds with their logo on it. There was warm recessed lighting and multiple rectangle chalkboards where they have their menu written out. It took some time before our server greeted us. It took even longer for her to come back to take our order. But once the server took our order, the dishes came out promptly. The calamars de platja or squid was the star plate out of the two. It was cooked perfectly. Very tender and it had just the right amount of seasoning. The mixed greens balanced out the oil they used to cook squid. On the other hand, the saktejat de bolets de temporada, AKA sautéed mushrooms were a huge disappointment. Unlike the calamari, there was little to no seasoning. It was also cooked with way too much oil; even the mixed greens/lettuce could not balance out the overly dressed mushrooms. You may want to stick with just seafood when going to Ramblero. Otherwise, go to El Quim or Pinotxo Bar. read more

Food is pretty fresh however the twin servers are fairly rude, one of them is more bearable than the other, I think his name is Alex. Both of them push very hard their lobster and sampler platter (which is more salad than actual seafood), according to them that's what has the better margins. So be prepared for a hard sell. Food tastes fresh however it it's fairly pricey for being located in a market. Be prepared to be rushed to eat since all they care it's about turning the tables, which goes against all the other food establishments in Barcelona. Also double check your bill- I saw them wrongly charge more to several patrons. read more

Despite being extremely busy they manage to have excellent service. Came for lunch and dinner in the same day and noticed that closer to dinner there are much less people and it's easier to snag a seat. Had the seafood platter that was huge and reasonably priced and very tasty. The sangria was just alright, but really the food is what I was mainly impressed with. The squid was perfect and really have not been disappointed with anything I've eaten. read more

Dear tourists visiting Barcelona, if you only have time to eat one meal inside the La Boqueria market, you must try the Ramblero Bar and Seafood restaurant. We ordered the seafood grilled combo for two, and it consists of various types of shrimps, squids, and shellfish. It was amazing and an experience excite your senses. Food may have been good, but any taste was totally destroyed by the doushebag waiter. Most of my resturant experience in Barcelona have been good. Some better than others, but for the most part, none made me want to get then uck out there ASAP. The place is located in the first row from the main entrance of the the la boqueria Market. It was around 7pm and most of the people around were tourists. We sat down and he gave us an English menu. We started to order by pointing to some of the tapas that was on display. He mumbled something about there being a 4 order minimum with out further explanation, while giving us the look of "hurry up you idiot toruisrst". No, why don't you order this, or how about these one's. Just eye rolling, look of disdain, and one of the worst attitudes I've experienced in Barcelona. We ate our meal in 15min and tried to get the hell out of there. But not before we had to wait around until he finished this very important conversation with a colleague. This after signaling to get the bill twice. If you have a store in the heart of a tourist attraction, be prepared to deal with tourists. I'm not expecting the red carpet, but expect to be treated as a full paying customer, not a second class citizen. There are plenty of great places to eat in Barcelona without being treated like idiots. Do you self a favor and skip this one. read more

Went with friends after a day of sightseeing around Barcelona and before a flamenco show. Total disappointment. We had gone the day before to a lovely bar further in the Boqueria the day before and we wanted to try something different, as lots of places were closing. And that's how we wound up there. Talk about pressure. Apparently it is frowned upon to have a drink before ordering, as the waitress was insistent that we order something immediately. When we requested olives to start, she snappily told us, "each must have a plate." Our original plan was to have drinks before eating, as I have a medical condition where I cannot eat and drink at the same time, which I tried to explain. Apparently this annoyed our server so much that she opted to tell another server to take care of us. And then there was the food...awful. The hard sell is on to buy a "mixed grilled seafood platter" which was neither grilled nor mixed. The pan con tomate was substandard...think white bread with smashed tomato...bland. The only thing worth mentioning? Cold chorizo appetizer...probably because they didn't have to cook it. Do yourself a favor and run, don't walk, by this place...although they'll be shouting at you and waving menus and lobsters in an attempt to lure you in. Don't fall for their antics! read more

We had such an great experience the first time, but this visit blew us our latter visit out of the water!! Eh, was trying to go to my fav spot Universal Kiosk, whack name but dopest spot in the market for seafood. They were closed. Somehow ended up at "Ramblero". Maybe Universal set the bar high for me so wasn't feeling this spot. But even worse was the service. They sat us right next to a garbage at the bar, why do you have garbage at the bar? Then...I couldn't even make this up, one of the fucking waiters picked his booger and ate it, I nearly threw up, he didn't even try to hide it. Wow this place is packed! Fresh seafood options with couple of other meat options. Presentation is great. The seafood is very fresh but lacks serious flavor. It would taste a lot better with some spices. Pork sausage is like breakfast sausage, tiny and not exciting at all. Everything is pretty pricey too, it'll take way over 60 bucks to feed two people. Overall it was a disappointment especially considering how many people are trying to get seats here. Sorry not coming back. read more

They messed up our order and once we tried to clear that up he was aggressive and rude. I had never been treated so badly and ruined our experience at the market. We walked to the market and it was closing time. They sent us with a guide to their sit-down restaurant a few blocks away. Same name, same menu. Expensive and service was poor at best. Really cool spot at the market. They offer mostly seafood and the plate we had had a mix of shellfish and shrimp. The seafood was very fresh and very nicely cooked. The absolute worst service I have ever received. We asked if we could sit at a table for 4 and told the server we had friends coming. We ordered tapas & drinks in the mean time which cost well over 50 euros and was mediocre at best. Patatas bravas had no flavor to them. We sat for maybe 30 minutes eating before our friends met us and when they came they decided to not order food, just sangria as they are vegans and did not have many options. Our server tells us that tables are for eating not drinking. I point out that we did order food, our friends were willing to order more and sangria but this was simply not enough for his manager and they basically forced us out. I understand that it is a busy area and other tables were ordering more dishes but we are paying customers that were forced out. I would avoid at all costs unless you prefer to be treated like cattle being pushed through and eat tasteless food. read more
