How can you say no. We ate here twice, and both times surprised by how reasonable the price. Green sauce check. Grilled or steamed to perfection check. Only variable being how fresh the catch was each day (second time cockles were magnitudes more succulent and fresh). To rate particular seafoods we recommend cockles (perfect vehicle for green sauce), langostines/prawns, razor clams, scallops, crab, anything fried, then conch. The conch was bad-maybe it's me but I never had conch blanched and served cold.

This was a very fun place and the food was excellent. We went during their afternoon opening (1pm -4pm and 8pm to ??). The fresh seafood was beautifully presented at the front if the restaurant on a bed of ice cream. The girl working the seafood case was helpful and cheerful. She helped us make selections and suggested amounts. We had calamar and chipirones frito, mussels in tomato sauce and grilled prawns. We then ordered beers and wine and waited for the food to be prepared. It was a very clean restaurant and there were several other groups that were enjoying some amazing looking food! The gentleman who completed our order with drinks seemed to be the manager or owner. He was very kind and explained how our food would come out. We accidentally spilled the wine and he came out and refilled the glass. Food was prepared in the back kitchen and called out for us to pick up when complete. The calamar/chipirones were perfectly done with the lightest batter ever. They came with lemon, but they were best when we tossed them in the tomato sauce that was on the mussels. The mussels were large and tender and had a fantastic sauce. The prawns were done well, but had a fishier taste then we were expecting. We loved the food and the concept and want to return to try many other offerings.

Honestly the most amazing seafood I have ever had. Everything was insanely fresh and cooked absolutely prefectly. One thing to note, I found our octopus to be cooked perfectly but was a tad salty. My partner thought it was perfect. The location is close to the water, but the entrance is off of a wide alleyway. The inside was simply laid out, with the counter to order and select your seafood up front and tables behind. Everyone that took our order and served us was very friendly. This restaurant is a must. I am still be dreaming of this meal!

Very unique seafood restaurant. Everything they have is on ice when you walk in. Choose what you like they send it to the kitchen. Moving along choose drinks they give you place settings you can get side of bread and sauces. They give you a recipe with a number. Sit down wait your number. Pick up your food at the window. I ate there several times had clams, calamari and some kind of small fish white meat and tasty. Very nice atmosphere. Good service friendly staff

I wanted to like this place, after hearing about the popular market-style restaurant with flavours of the sea. Following a nice stroll through Barceloneta, we arrived around dinner opening time to find a very long line out the entrance. Upon finally getting in, we were greeted by a seafood stall. We were directed into an empty table after weighing our fresh selections. When the razor clams, large prawns, baby octopus and clams were cooked, we collected our dishes from the counter. It looked like they were plated in a rush. Unfortunately the experience was nothing special and the dish tastes were not worth our wait in line. Better to find a less popular restaurant with local seafood. We noticed plenty of smaller places in Barceloneta.

So glad we found this place while visiting Barcelona. So fun picking out your own seafood and eating it fresh. Very friendly and efficient staff. Also super affordable for the amount that we got. This is such an awesome place and a very unique eating experience. One of my favorite restaurants of all time

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in NYC is Astoria Seafood, a chaotic, super-Queens-y hole in the wall with a similar "pick your own adventure" concept as La Paradeta. Coming to Barcelona, I'd read about this chain of restaurants and was excited to try the Catalan version of my favorite Queens restaurant. This went beyond my expectations! I'd wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking for a fresh, casual, and delicious seafood meal in Barcelona. The ambiance is fun: lots of families, groups of friends, and delighted people sharing meals together. Tables turn over pretty quickly, though it's easy to imagine how one might linger here with their incredibly cheap bottles of wine (seriously, some of the bottles are under €9). The staff is efficient, knowledgeable, and pretty intuitive about how much food your size group is going to need -- just trust them. Most of the seafood will come grilled, but some things can be fried (like the tiny little smelts) and some things come cold (like the cooked shrimp). Be specific about what you want, try something new, and be amazed at how ridiculously cheap your seafood feast is. I don't think you'll need the bread unless you have a lot of extra sauce, but it's nice to have some sort of carb with the meal. Salad was acceptable but unexciting. Word to the wise: you'll probably end up eating a lot of things with your hands, and it's hard to open the bathroom doorknob with fishy fingers. Pick up a napkin from the table to do so and you'll make your life so much easier. Also, bring your own hot sauce if that's your thing!

I've been to Barcelona three times and found this place on my "to go map" while strolling around on my last day. Boy am I glad I did! You walk in and literally pick your seafood out. They then cook it for you on the spot. Calamari + Tuna + sardines (amazing) + bottle of wine for $22. Uhhhhhhhh amazing! If you're not spanish, it would be a tough concept to get walking in the door, but just be kind and the people working there will help you out. Wish we ordered the lobster that was literally moving, but gives us reason to come back. Worth the walk and wait if there is one. 10 stars if I could.

Wow !!!! Best seafood place I've ever been to!!! Basically you walk in and have a big variety of seafood, everything you can think of, and stuff you didn't even imagine existed!!! The ask you how you want it cooked, either grilled, steamed or fried ! And that's when everything starts, they start calling your. Number and giving 2 by 2 of the items you selected, This is an experience , is a most of you like seafood, and ever in Barcelona !!

A dining experience unlike the others. Follow the instructions for a successful night: 1. Line up. (There is most likely a line whenever you go. We went 4 minutes after it opened on a Friday night and there was already a line out the door) 2. Step up to the wonderful display of live seafood over ice. Pick the seafood you want and tell the worker how much of what kind you want. 3. Pick up your dishes, utensils, and drinks at the bar. 4. Pay for your meal at the bar. 5. Find a table and wait. 6. When your number is called (ex: "Mesa seis"), bring your ticket/receipt to the left kitchen window. They cross off the item you are picking up on your receipt. 7. Bring your food back to your table and enjoy! 8. When you have polished off all your food, bring your cups back to the bar and your dirty dishes to the right kitchen window. My family and I ordered: - navaja (razor clams): DELICIOSO!!! (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=sCiWf7Kai0t-x25CAz2DEQ&select=iY8QkL2kcHOKOZhZzhYL4A) - Gargol de mar (sea snails): okay (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=sCiWf7Kai0t-x25CAz2DEQ&select=oqUDLZFWXCBE_1-8KbYNFw) - Changuete (small fish): fried. just okay (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=sCiWf7Kai0t-x25CAz2DEQ&select=tzCkRNhWoNlYA_a_JyfzPg) - Cigala (Dublin Bay prawns): yummy (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=sCiWf7Kai0t-x25CAz2DEQ&select=uKjuU7_HY1JrSWfd97_pDg) - gamba (prawns): super sweet and scrumptious! (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=sCiWf7Kai0t-x25CAz2DEQ&select=uKjuU7_HY1JrSWfd97_pDg) - ensalada (salad): veggies are always good (http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=sCiWf7Kai0t-x25CAz2DEQ&select=C9Z_gbOEoY9JoQLsbHCdnw) - bottle of white wine - beer Notes to consider: - Arrive early! Less than an hour after it opens, it is at its capacity. They will not take you order because the cooks cannot fullfil all the orders, and you have no place to sit. - Wine is only sold by the bottle - CASH only! - La Paradeta is only opened a few hours a day. I believe 4 hours for dinner each day, then 3 extra hours for lunch on the weekends. Check the hours before you come!!

We were searching for a place to eat for dinner and happen to find this restaurant via yelp. I really wanted some razor clams due to my first trip to Barcelona when I experience the best razor clams ever. Since this was my 2nd time to Barcelona, I wanted to make sure I got my fill of razor clams again! :) when my husband and I arrived, there was already a line of at least 20 people. We arrived right at 8 PM when they opened. My husband and I waited in line for about 30 minutes & finally got to the front where we subsequently ordered a selection of fresh seafood. Everything seemed reasonably priced and we ordered: 1) Half dozen oysters 2) Full kilo of clams - grilled! 3) 5 packets of razor clams - marinera! 4) 10 shrimps - grilled! 5) One third kg of baby octopus - grilled! 6) 3 bread, coke, 2 sauce containers, beer Our favorite was definitely the razor clams, grilled to perfection! If we were to come again, we would only order razor clams and make it 10 packets!! Haha Everything cost € at this restaurant including the bread and sauces! It can add up. We spent 79€ here for just 2 of us. We'd Love to come back again next time we are in Barcelona! TIP: CASH ONLY
This restaurant was literally right next to our stay in Barcelona--skipping it felt like a crime, given the rave reviews. So, on a rainy afternoon, we gave it a shot. We arrived just after lunch opening and were the first customers. The guy at the counter was... efficient. He simply told us to pick what we wanted, tossed it in a bin, and that was that. No explanation of pricing or preparation methods. When we asked how they'd cook it, he casually offered "fried or grilled." Obviously, we chose grilled--why fry fresh seafood? We picked two giant prawns, two octopus tentacles, and two fish (since hubby can't have shellfish). He asked if we wanted salad or soup--reviews hyped the soup, so we went with that. Then he handed us a receipt, told us we were order #3, and sent us to the bar. At the bar, we ordered two sangrias and a water. The bartender asked if we wanted bread and sauce. Sure, why not? We assumed they were included. Surprise! The tiny baguettes cost €0.50 each, and the mystery "house sauce" (a questionable mix of thousand island and horseradish) was an extra €1. We only realized the charge when we saw the total: €73. Oh well, too late now. Then came the food pickup experience--chaotic, to say the least. The server practically barked at us to bring our receipt, aggressively crossed off items, and handed over soups and octopus, crammed onto a greasy tray. No effort at plating, just food haphazardly dumped onto plates. The second round--grilled fish and prawns--was more of the same. Now, the verdict: Soup (5/5) - Delicious and reasonably priced at €6. Would order again. Bread & Sauce (0/5) - Not free, not worth it. Hard pass. Octopus (€31.80 for two tentacles, 1/5) - Overpriced, greasy, and drowning in molten salt. Basically, eating a sodium bomb. Grilled Fish (€10.50 & €8.50, 3/5) - Decent, but unnecessarily oily. Grilled Prawns (€5.59, 0/5) - Mushy, not fresh, and borderline inedible. Final thoughts? Not worth it. With so many incredible food spots in Barcelona, why waste your meal quota here? If you want quality seafood, go to Cervecería Catalana--we spent €5 more, but a meal a thousand times better. Spend wisely and eat like a king. read more
[Food] - Oysters: Fresh and good with lemon. - Anchovies: Not our favorite as it was very fishy and oily tasting despite adding lemon. I've had fried anchovies before but this was too heavy for us - Octopus: This was a bit oily but but not as much as the anchovies. Potatoes were nice and soft and absorbed all the sauces. - Small Clams: My favorite dish out of all we've ordered. Although the clams were small, the sauce it was cooked in was delicious! [Service] - Line up, order what you want, some seafood have various cook styles so they will ask you which you'd prefer, pay, find a table, and pick up at the pick up window once your buzzer goes off. [Ambiance] - Mainly indoor seating with 2 tables outdoors [Overall] - Would come back again as I love this kind of seafood eateries! Will definitely try other dishes next time as well read more
Some of the freshest seafood I have ever had and the selection was incredible. So hard to choose! Not really a menu here but you pick the seafood you want, how much of it, and they ask how you want it prepared (some things were prepared steamed/baked automatically, some they offered fried or grilled, oysters we had raw). They weigh your items and then you pay at the register - here you can add on sauces or drinks. When the food is ready, they will buzz you and you pick up at the window. There was a green sauce they offered to put on at the pickup window. I tried to speak what little Spanish I know. No table service, so you find a seat where you can. We had oysters, scallops, razor clams, langoustine, grilled shrimp, and fried baby calamari and tentacles. We ordered everything but the calamari first, then decided we wanted more and placed a 2nd order for the calamari. We tried 2 sauces, which went well with the fried calamari. I would definitely come back here if I'm back in Barcelona. They have another location near Sagrada Familia. We didn't have to wait to get in, around 2pm. read more

It is not really big fan of the way they are preparing. It was little confusing. All I could say this place is not a good fit for tourists. It looks more for local people to eat. read more

This was our favorite restaurant in Spain!!! We ended up eating here twice. This particular location has changed names (now called Puertecillo), but the theming of the restaurant is exactly the same. You point out which seafood item you want them to cook for you, then you pay by weight or unit according to the items you have chosen. 40 euros easily fed 3 of us. We tried many things... the octopus, squid, cuttlefish (my favorite), whitebait, sardines, razor clams, and the Carabineros Shrimp. All were delicious!!! read more

When I was last in Barcelona almost 10 years ago, this restaurant was one of my favorites. I was so happy to find that it was basically unchanged on my recent visit. Eating here is best described as walking into a fish market, choosing your seafood and having each item cooked to perfection. Prices for each item are clearly listed. You choose how much you want of each item you choose. Then you pay, get a buzzer and take a seat. As each of your items is prepared your buzzer goes off and you pick it up at a window. Prices are very reasonable and the selection is amazing. On my first visit year ago, little English was spoken but now it was very easy to communicate in English. There is a second location but both my visits were in the Born. I look forward to my next trip to once again enjoy this yummy restaurant. read more
This was such an amazing meal with stunning flavors and an exciting dining experience. At first, you might notice a fishy scent which is a turnoff for some, but definitely don't let that stop you from visiting! If anything, it is a true testament to the freshness and variety of the dishes offered. If you're looking for a fun, authentic tapas experience, you've found it. 10/10 would recommend. As a note, the menu should clearly label which food comes with nuts... be warned of cross contamination! If you have a tree nut allergy, I would avoid this restaurant. read more
BLOWN AWAY. If you love seafood, make sure to make this your FIRST stop! I've never seen so many types of seafood in one place, I was in heaven. Although it's expensive (be prepared to spend), it is WORTH it for super freshly caught and cooked seafood. I came around 11:00pm and there was a lineup, so I probably waited about 30 minutes. At the front counter, you can choose what type of seafood you want, and the quantity, and they measure it out for you. Then you're given a number, and you can seat yourself at a table. The seafood comes out at a counter, and when your number buzzes, you can go pick up your dishes! The beer was also reasonably priced. My favourite was definitely the octopus; it was the freshest and most tender. I could of eaten two plates! I got some oysters to try, and they were amazingly fresh, large, and both salty and slightly sweet. I could of eaten them non-stop! The mussles: super cheap, and tender as well. Tomato sauce went well! I was super excited to try the razor clam, but it was not as tender as I liked. I also ordered two other types of smaller fish, and they were fried, which made me full quickly; I wouldn't get them again as I preferred the fresh seafood (that was not fried). I wanted to go back twice during the trip, but I ended up eating too many tapas, so I didn't feel like seafood after! read more
Was recommended this place by our travel agent, said it has some of the freshest fish in the area - they were right. Not to mention, cooked to perfection. You don't have to be nervous if you're not fluent in Spanish, the employees understand and take care of you to make sure you get enough fish for dinner. Don't expect any side dishes - the only choices are clam soup ram-rape sopa, or a salad ensalada. You can get some bread if you want to cleanse your palate. They will also find you a beer or wine to go with your food. We made reservations online, but it didn't seem to matter, we still had to wait in line at the door. So I'm still not clear if that works. I recommend just getting there early - there was a line out the door the 2 hours we were there. We had lobster, tuna, shrimp, crab and octopus. But there were many fish we weren't familiar with. All of it was the best we have ever had, with the octopus being a surprise because we have never had it so tender before. Such an amazing experience! read more
Come here for the freshest variety of tasty seafood at a reasonable price. If you don't speak Spanish, just point at the stuff you want (with conviction) and whatever you select is perfectly cooked to order. Be sure to order a San Miguel while you're at it. Pay for your food, obtain a number, and wait for your number to be called to pick up each dish. You won't get your food all at once and don't expect anyone to bring to you. Seating is first come, first serve. The razor clams, octopus, and giant prawns were delightful. Simple and quick preparation make it easier to stuff your face with more food. We appreciated the lively, yet chill ambiance and their quick turnaround of cooking the food, despite how busy it was. All the patrons were having a good time--good food, good drinks, good times. What else can you ask for? We'll definitely be back for the great experience. read more
The best seafood restaurant I've been to in a long time! Be prepared to wait, for a long time. No resies and long lines any time of day. All the catch is laid out in the front. Walk in and order by weight, tell them how you want it cooked (some items you get a couple of options). They will rush you a little given there's 20 hungry people standing behind you, and maybe not speak the best English but trust me the food is well worth it! Alcohol is by bottle only. Some of the bottle are pretty small so no problem there. We got cava or what I'm told the local drink of choice - can't go wrong there. Pay then wait with your number. They will call you up to a little window when each item is done and cross it off your receipt. You get a choice of sauces (not complimentary!). Garlic sauce is the best. In order of yumminess: Razor clams omfg! So incredibly delicious we had to get seconds (I only regret not getting thirds). Fresh and clean tasting (I've had them in other countries where they tasted like chemicals :( ). Shrimp with claws! Cross between lobster and shrimp. So tasty! Shrimp - there's two diff kinds - we got the uncooked - larger and more pricey but deliciously grilled. Cockles - really fresh and juicy. Lobster - not sure if actually local to the Mediterranean region or airlifted from N Am? Overpriced and same as everywhere else. Skip. Whitebait - they fry it and it almost tastes like egg whites. I guess a cheaper filler food if you're still hungry after other dishes. Skip. Saw lots of locals getting mussels. May be good to try. Oh and they have a coloring sheet to keep kids tame while the adults are pigging out. So considerate! Pure seafood heaven - will hit up next time I am in Barcelona for sure! read more

Awesome concept! If you're not aware, La Paradeta is pretty much a seafood market but they also will cook your food. You start out by picking out what food you want and how much you want then pick how you would like it cooked (only some foods have options, mostly grilled or fried). There's a lot of options and everything looks good. I really enjoyed the anchovies, however the oysters were just OK. read more

So you want an ideal mediterranean seafood experience? Look no further!!!!! This is place is an absolute dream for solo travelers, couples, families or large groups that want a taste of sea. You pick out the specific fish and seafood that you want, the sauces, etc. You get a number and wait as they quickly cook it before your very eyes. It comes out as its ready, and it is very cheap - make sure you go there hungry, and make sure it is open when you go! I ate things I had never seen in my life... and yet I still dream about that lunch at La Paradeta. Can't wait to return. Don't miss this place if you are in Barcleona! read more
Major love fest!!!! Major!! This is my favorite place in Barelona. It is a city full of delicious eats, tapas and seafood. But this place takes the cake. Casual atmosphere- check! Fresh seafood - most alive and kicking/swimming till you order? Check check! Great wine- check! Amazing cooks? Check x 100!! You come in, you pick your seafood, you tell them how to prepare, and viola! Take your number, find a table and wait for all the magical sea creatures to be delivered to your table. What's not to love? Ahmazing! Tasty! Delicious! Aye! Razor clams~ I got 5 packets! Each has 5 I believe. I got them grilled! Plancha! With green sauce. Delicious beyond words. Seas snails~ simple, fast ,boiled! Tasty. Baby calms/ baby pctopus~ we orders a pound of this. It gets smaller with the grilling but still amazing! Giant grilled prawns - all charred? Ahmazing! I can't get enough even after several visits. Still can't. its simply amazing. We also had a bottle or two of their wine. One red and one white per recommendation of our cook. No complaints there. If you like seafood, if you want to avoid tourist traps and taste the best ingredients? Look no further. You have found the perfect place. If you do require white linen napkins and the suave ambiance over food? Well, just walk away. This place already have huge lines out the door. You'll be doing everyone else a favor. Me? I'm very happy here! They ruined my taste buds because now I can't eat anything less tasty. But I'm very happy I found that seafood nirvana! read more

If you're looking for authentic Barcelona seafood at very reasonable prices, this is the place for you! There are a few of these restaurants scattered around the city, and they're usually hidden away so tourists can find them. Luckily for me, I have a friend that spent 5 months in Barcelona and heard about this place from locals. This place is AUTHENTIC. You walk in and wait at a counter covered with the day's fresh seafood- crab, squid, clams, mussels, prawns, etc. Next to each is a sign showing the cost per kilogram. They pretty much only speak Spanish here, so my ordering process was a lot of pointing to something I wanted and saying how many Euros-worth of it I wanted to buy. This worked out well. Once you order the seafood they ask you if you want bread and/or a drink (both of which are VERY inexpensive) and then you pay and are given a buzzer. They prepare all of the food you ordered in the restaurant, and call you up as each dish is ready- not all at once. I got the crab, stuffed, for €9, €4 worth of calamari (which they fried), one pack of razor clams (Navajas) for €5, bread for €0.5 and a canya (beer) for €1.8. Now, that's a LOT of food, so if you get that much I would recommend sharing or you will be stuffed. The crab was good, I've never eaten anything like it so I have no means of comparison. The razor clams are great, definitely get the sauce on them and make sure to eat them while they're hot. The fried calamari was delicious, but the batter is very salty, you'll definitely need a cold beer to help wash it down. Overall, this place was everything I wanted it to be. Go with 1-2 other people, order a bunch of different items, and share them. You have to try this place! read more
We arrived at this location at around 8pm and there was a long line, we waited for about 40 mins. (It was worth the wait!) When we went in, THE SEAFOOD WAS SOOO FRESH! You pick and choose the seafood of your choice then they offer you a way for it to be cooked. We ordered the mussels in tomato sauce, shrimps, razor clams, fried cuttlefish, langoustines, octopus tentacle, salad (enough for 2) and a cream of lobster soup. In my opinion, the soup and salad wasn't worth it to order. Overall, a great experience. The seafood was very fresh and tasty. For all the seafood lovers, this place is read more
Best meal we had in Barcelona -- fresh, affortable, fun! Previous review has a good breakdown of the procedures, so I won't go into the details, but just start thinking about what you want as soon as the seafood in sight (when you're peering through the glass door). The listing of seafood (and prices) are on the door before you step in so get thinking sooner than later. When it's your turn and the pressure's on -- it can be tough to order, especially given the non-english speaking staff!! Unlike seafood bars in the states that serves food raw or boiled -- the preparation at La Paradeta depends on the type of seafood ordered. Based on my order: --Mussels are either boiled or cooked in a tomato sauce -- your pick. Tomato sauce was GREAT. --Conch shells are served raw with lemon. Not my favorite. --Octopus are served grilled and with a green pesto like drizzle -- THE BEST -- a must order. I think you can have them fried too. --Large Langoustine (Lobster-Shrimp mutants?) -- very pricey and not that tasty or meaty. Grilled and drizzled with pesto. Total bill for what fed the two of us, including a 9 Euro bottle of white was under 60 Euro...what a steal! read more

Do you like sea food? Then you HAVE to go to La Paradeta, ok ok you NEED to go! Seafood is fresh and cooked to order, not only that you also get to select your own seafood! It is a culinary experience! Grilled octopus is delicious, grilled tuna awesomely tasty, grilled shrimp was very good, everything we ordered was so good. We went there for dinner twice on our trip. Make sure that you get there 20 minutes before they open there will be a line, but it is so worth it, once they open the line goes fast and the food comes out fast and deliciously prepared!! LOVE this place! Este restaurant es delicioso, toda una experiencia culinaria! Todo lo que pides les queda delicioso, no olvides de llegar 20 minutos antes de abran porq va a haber línea para entrar y ordenar. Me encanta este lugar! read more
I made it annoyingly clear I wanted seafood while visiting Barcelona and so my friends brought me here. Suffice to say, my seafood craving was (almost too) appeased. After waiting in line for almost an hour, we finally inched our way inside and felt the pressure of ordering. With all that fresh seafood in front of you, it's hard to decide exactly what you want. Thankfully, I was with someone who had been there many times before so relinquished the duty of ordering to him. Before I knew it, we were sitting down with a bottle of chilled white wine, waiting for our food to be prepared. After the first dish of shrimp and oysters arrived, what proceeded can only be described as a parade of some of the best seafood of my life. The mussels in red sauce (which I proceeded to soak the bread in) was amazing, the razor clams and grilled octopus perfect and to end it all, grilled lobster. I am in awe we finished that much food (and an extra bottle of wine) between four of us but we did and all left full and very happy. As others have said, keep in mind that is cash only. Besides that, don't let the line scare you because it is well worth the wait. Definitely a no-frills place I would come back to time and time again. read more

Tldr: Fun to try. But my friend and I were not amazed by the food. Ask for lemons. We got razor clams, grilled squid (a la plancha), monkfish (rape), mussels, and grilled shrimp. Everything was cooked with the same flavors&sauce, so that got kind of boring. Seafood is fresh and clean (only had one mussel that was slightly sandy and my friend had one mussel that tasted off). Maybe the mussels with tomatoes would've been better. I was a huge fan of the monkfish and grilled squid. These had a little more salt. I like chewy and firm textures though which the monkfish and squid were. My friend and i asked for lemons and we squeezed it on things for more variation of flavors. read more

What an excellent, delicious, fresh and affordable experience. I recommend this whole-heartedly to any tourist looking for a fresh, amazing seafood meal for a good price. Here, things work a little different: You stand at the front counter, and just point to all the different food you want. It's possible to specify how much as well. We ordered: one massive stuffed crab, tons of razor clams, about 12 gambas, a big bowl of steamed mussels in tomato sauce, some fried squiggly things (very good), and a salad (why?). Two beers as well. The price is all by weight. We had so much food that I thought I was actually going to burst, and it was €20 each. Incredible. They're open for lunch or for dinner, and the food is some of the freshest in Barcelona. It goes right from the ocean into the restaurant. Just amazing. Go hungry!! read more

We had our worst meal here among the week we spent in Barcelona. The mussel in mussel soup still has the grass-like string attached to it. Pulpo was rubbery, you can tell they're not using the better quality olive oil and the salt was scattered and not yet dissolved at all. We had our most expensive meal here. €60-70 for 2 people. And the expectation is not met. If you have to try, navaja and shrimp is not too bad. Avoid the soup and pulpo at all cost. Fish is fresh but overpriced. Now we are heading over to Retaurante Portles for a second meal. And yes it's not very filling. Overall it's a big disappointment. I don't know why there's so many good reviews about it. Over 50% people I saw are tourists here. I guess there's a reason for it. read more

Ok. This place is only inexpensive if you have discipline and don't order everything in sight. With that said... delicious. I think this is my worthy splurge for the trip. For 2, we ordered - 2 bunches of razor clams - 1 of the fing giant ass prawns - 1 cuttlefish - scoop of clams - 1 bag of mussels - monkfish soup - 2 bread - 1 sauce Lemon beer and coke Total was 60 Euros Winners for us was the grilled cuttlefish fish, mussels, and monkfish soup. Cuttlefish had a perfect crunchy texture. Mussels they split the prep 2 ways, with and without sauce. Both are perfect. Monkfish soup was very unique since monkfish isn't prevalent in the US. The giant prawn is 44 euro per kilo. Don't be too afraid, 1 shrimp is about .125 kilos. Clams in amazing ass sauce, but seattle has amazing clams too. Bread only if you want to mop up sauce, otherwise it's just taking up room. read more

Best meal we had in Spain hands down! There is a wait but it went by pretty fast (20mins) and we went on a Thursday night, it's completely worth it don't let it deter you. When you get in there is a huge array of fresh fish and seafood sitting on ice. Surprisingly it didn't smell! We had a lobster, giant prawns, mussels in marinara, and calamari. You pick it, they weigh it and you move on to buy beer and wine and sit down and wait for them to call your order. Took only about 15 mins to get our food. You have to find your own place to sit which wasn't a problem the night we were there. Food: The mussels came first and the marinara was delicious. So fresh, plump and not gritty! Loved it. Second was the calamari, honestly it was perfectly cooked, soft and tender squid, easily the best I've ever had. It came in a simple olive oil garlic and herb sauce, soo good. The prawns came with the same dressing and were awesome. Lastly was the lobster, it was a bit expensive but so delicious. Looking back we probably would've just got more of the other seafood just because of the price/quantity ratio the lobster. They also give you some bread for dipping and a salad. I realize it may be hard to understand how this could be so good, but the fresh food, simple preparation and no frills atmosphere really did it for us. It was great to have a break from all the tapas/bread/fried food. And in Barcelona you're going to find that you have to pay a lot just to eat something different, but at this place that wasn't the case. We got a hugee portion of seafood with wine for about 50 E, totally worth it! Would I return? Yes! read more

As any foodie who has explored Spain for at least a few months knows, it's all about the seafood. This is what I had: Fried calamari Oysters on the half shell Sole Prawns 9 bottle of win Personally, I love the ambience (I went to the Born location) and don't mind the wait. It has a manic, Manhattan-esque feel, with lots of people very high on the expectant vibe of good seafood. Ordering and picking up food from an impatient staff, with two dozen pushy Spaniards breathing down your neck in the line behind you, is all part of the fun. Order a bottle of wine; it's delivered in a mounted bucket of ice next to your table. The fresh-ness and quality of the food is absolutely excellent. The calamari in particular was so completely without chewiness; the batter was light. Particularly impressive were the Oysters on the half shell -- not a large variety of oysters (well, there's only one kind) but absolutely clear and delicious. As good as any I've had at Acme Oyster House in the Big Easy. Not the most impressive selection, but very good. A little pricey for what is. Highly recommended. read more
