Pulpo (octopus) ala gallega, so so, pass next time
    Yun C.

This was the most memorable dinner I had in Barcelona. I truly wish there is something like this in the US!! I found out about it through a friend who just visited Barcelona. She went to the one by Sagrada Familia. I was so happy to find out that this restaurant is a chain so I decided to go to this particular location because it's farther away from the more touristy areas because I didn't want to queue!!! We arrived 15 minutes before they opened for dinner and they were still getting ready!!(to my American friends, make sure you have enough food to last until 8pm as most restaurants serve dinner at 8!!!). Once they opened we were numero uno ahahaha... It's like a seafood market with all the seafood laid out for you to pick what you want, how much and how you want them to cook for you. You pay by weight of each seafood. Then you go to the other side to order drink, dipping sauce (cost extra), and to pay for your food. Once the food was ready they will call your number, bring your receipt with you when you pick up your food from the window. The food comes out one item at a time unfortunately. So while it's nice that they won't get cold when you devour them, it's also bothersome to wait for all your items. But it's totally worth the wait. Believe me! We ordered 1 calamari deep fried (fritos), 4 huge prawns grilled with garlic sauce, 4 langostines (like lobster but smaller with thinner longer claws) grilled with garlic sauce, 2 packs (6/pack) razor clams, 1 pulpo (octopus) ala gallega, 1 salad, 2 bread, 1 coca cola. We later bought the garlic mayo sauce (not that great) and asked for marinara sauce to dip the calamari. Omg, the food was sooooooo good!! Especially the razor clams and the calamari!!! The best best best I've ever had!!! I would pot for lobster vs langostines next time as ita smaller and harder to eat (they don't give crackers to crack the claws so basically it's all a waste, but the head was soo sweet lol). Loved the huge prawns too and I wish we would have ordered the deep fried tiny fish. Looked good! Self service, so buss your own table after you finish eating! We spent 82.88 euro for everything, totally worth every penny!!!

Wandering around the neighbourhood looking for food after a drink at Terra d'Escudella was not an easy task. I was so glad that my Yelp friend suggested that we go Le Sants for some seafood. Le Paradea Sants is like a self served fish market restaurant. You would see fresh uncooked seafood displayed on ice and just pick whatever you like and how much you want and how you want that to be prepared. I was quite happy to try some of the seafood that I saw in the markets we visited! We shared: Cañaillas - Sea Snails Gambas a la planche - Grilled Shrimps Navaja - Razor Clams All I can said that they were all fresh and delicious. A good experience for any seafood lover!

Ever since I came here, I've been dying to go back! The concept is fairly simple. You walk in, order whatever seafood you want and tell them how you want it cooked. Seat your own self and wait till your number is called. There really aren't any servers so we had to get our own drinks, food, and clean up after ourselves. We tried a variety of many things: Sepia - 1/2 deep fried, the other 1/2 grilled with parsley. The deep fried was my favorite out of all the thing I ordered. Crab - stuffed with some salad and what tasted like a thousand island dressing. The main body was delicious. My friends devoured the legs (They didn't give us the crab cracker so it was kind of difficult) Grilled razor clams with parsley - amazing. Octopus Galician style - a bit chewy, I think I make it better at home. And finally the gambas - grilled with garlic. Really juicy!! Can't wait to come back here. There are many locations so check to see what's near you!

If seafood heaven exists, this is it. Long line ups people, better get there when they open for dinner 8pm otherwise expect an 40mins wait outside! This place is amazing! You choose the seafood (lobster, crab, claims, shrimps, squid, octopus, fish and many more) you want, how much you want and they will cook it for you. All fresh, just the way you want it! Everything was so delicious and perfectly cooked. You can also order sides and bottles of wines ranging from €7 to €13. We were a family of 7 and we ordered a lot with a bottle of white. The total bill came up to €150. Great value for the amount of seafood we ate.

I found this place looking for a place to have a quick dinner, never really had seafood in mind but I started to check out the pictures and some of the reviews, I had decided where I would have my next dinner. Conveniently located about a 5-7 minutes walk from Barcelona-Sants train station or the Gran Torre Catalunya Hotel, it's in a place that feels like old Barcelona, tucked between tapa bars and a few other restaurants. You basically check out what you would like first, get in line and order, when your order is complete they'll take it to the kitchen, you then walk like 5 steps to the drink ordering station, order your drink and pay. They assign you a table number and you wait at your table for your "mesa" to be called, this means that your food is cooked is ready for pick up, no waiter service. Some of the seafood takes longer to cook or they'll be busy with multiple orders so be patient. When your food is cooked, you take it to your table and devour every single mouth watering piece of seafood that you ordered. The place is not fancy it's just a regular self service restaurant that has a bunch of tables where you can sit and eat either by yourself or your friends, except that the people behind the counter assigns your table. I read a review that about this place from some guy that probably has no idea what traveling abroad is like. He writes that they tried to sell him mayonnaise, that the portions were not enough and that Red Lobster is better. Let me make something clear to a few of my fellow American travelers, before you decide to go on vacation somewhere that will be different from the U.S. please use your smartphone to do some research, that helps. Everyone has a different culture and in Europe things like mayonnaise, ketchup, marmalade, butter, mustard and a few other things that in the U.S. are free they will sometimes not be free here.

This is the Best La Paradeta in the chain and definitely worth a trip to Sants. We visited the restaurant three years ago and were impressed with the quality and deliciousness of its seafood. It defined our trip to Barcelona! So on our recent trip to Barcelona, this was an obligatory visit! We had razor clams, monkfish, and baby octopus, grilled to perfection and topped with the amazing garlic-basil infused olive oil. Then we had steamed muscles and fried baby fish (they were both tasty)! We accompanied this feast with good and reasonably priced local white wine! We will keep coming back here every time we are in town! They make such delicious seafood that becomes the stuff of dreams! (We also visited other restaurants in the chain, they were nowhere close to the care and quality of food to the restaurant in Sants!)

If you're in the main part of Barcelona, it can be a trek out here (it is SO worth it), but if you're staying by the convention center and its nearby shopping mall, it is an easy walk and I haven't found anything else in the area that comes close.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

Many locals/regulars were clearly there, but there is English on the menu. My recommendation is to order the smallest size plate of everything because the dishes are huge. Everything we tried was very flavorful and delicious. The tripe was cooked in a delicious soup with garbanzo beans, and the octopus was slightly salty and sprinkled with paprika. We saw so many tables with huge dishes, which tipped us off that we needed to order smaller, which was still more than we needed. The waitress (she wore glasses) was very gracious with our Spanish, and our neighboring table kindly explained that the orujo they were served was a gratis (free) post-meal brandy. I'm not sure if you have to ask for it, but we did, and it was not on our tab. So, everybody ordered a seafood platter, so we ordered one as well. As we were hungry, we ordered a plate of octopus and potatoes. This was easily one of the best and cheapest meals that we've had. The seafood had simple seasoning - butter and garlic perhaps, but it was so good! It was cooked to perfection. The razor clams, shrimp cooked 3 ways, and mussels were so good! The octopus and potatoes were amazing. The octopus was so tender and the little bit of chili flakes with the potatoes and octopus was so good. It was so good that we wanted to eat here for the last meal in Barcelona, but the closes early. How sad! Must come if you love seafood!

We arrived just after lunch opening and were the first customers. The guy at the counter was... efficient. He simply told us to pick what we wanted, tossed it in a bin, and that was that. No explanation of pricing or preparation methods. When we asked how they'd cook it, he casually offered "fried or grilled." Obviously, we chose grilled--why fry fresh seafood? We picked two giant prawns, two octopus tentacles, and two fish (since hubby can't have shellfish). He asked if we wanted salad or soup--reviews hyped the soup, so we went with that. Then he handed us a receipt, told us we were order #3, and sent us to the bar. At the bar, we ordered two sangrias and a water. The bartender asked if we wanted bread and sauce. Sure, why not? We assumed they were included. Surprise! The tiny baguettes cost €0.50 each, and the mystery "house sauce" (a questionable mix of thousand island and horseradish) was an extra €1. We only realized the charge when we saw the total: €73. Oh well, too late now. Then came the food pickup experience--chaotic, to say the least. The server practically barked at us to bring our receipt, aggressively crossed off items, and handed over soups and octopus, crammed onto a greasy tray. No effort at plating, just food haphazardly dumped onto plates. The second round--grilled fish and prawns--was more of the same. Now, the verdict: Soup (5/5) - Delicious and reasonably priced at €6. Would order again. Bread & Sauce (0/5) - Not free, not worth it. Hard pass. Octopus (€31.80 for two tentacles, 1/5) - Overpriced, greasy, and drowning in molten salt. Basically, eating a sodium bomb. Grilled Fish (€10.50 & €8.50, 3/5) - Decent, but unnecessarily oily. Grilled Prawns (€5.59, 0/5) - Mushy, not fresh, and borderline inedible. Final thoughts? Not worth it. With so many incredible food spots in Barcelona, why waste your meal quota here? If you want quality seafood, go to Cervecería Catalana--we spent €5 more, but a meal a thousand times better. Spend wisely and eat like a king.

Two of us picked 5 types of seafood, a salad and a fish soup. We tried the sangria as our drinks. Everything is beyond fantastic! We would highly recommend this seafood gem to all our friends. Here are a few tips for the first timers: 1) The workers at the order area don't understand English well. We pointed at the seafood for ordering. 2) Recommended to have the fish soup over mixed salad as an appetizer. The fish soup is made with lots of fish and ginger; and it carries so much flavor. 3) The mussels are a must-have and are so cheap (Under 10 Euros for huge portions). It's recommended to prepare in two ways: white wine and tomato sauce 4) The La Paradeta sauce (I e. A green basil sauce) goes very well with shrimps and razor clams. 5) The fried calamari was so delicious and perfectly paired with drizzles of lemon juice. Yet, it's so expensive (24 Euros for a very small portion). It doesn't feel as worth it as compared to something like lobsters (29 Euros/single lobster). 6) I noticed many people ordered a bottle of wine instead of Sangria. Will need to try next time!

The young lady waitperson was so friendly and we laughed as we tried to communicate with each other (she with no English and me with no Spanish). After we were stuffed to the gills, she brought us a complimentary plate of 4 pieces of olive oil cake and two glasses of a very tart brightly colored yellow liqueur that my friend said had a definite kick. When I told our waitperson that I don't drink alcohol, she brought me a glass of the same fruity base liquid sans the alcohol, which I found to be very tart and very pleasing on the palate! When I finished it, the young lady offered me more, but there was no way for me to fit anything else into my completely full satisfied belly!
