This is the closest grocery store to my house. The rating is more for the staff/management then the store. I mean a Ralph's is a Ralph's when you compare grocery stores. I don't like that the staff sits out in front of the store, on there break I presume, and smoke. And as others have mentioned the staff is not friendly, you get a gratuitous "How are you?" when you check out, but no one there really seems to care. Hey Mr Manger at Ralph's Whittier - been to the Trader Joe's across the street recently, how about the Fresh and Easy? Now Target sells food! When are you going to realize you have to do more then unlock the door in the morning to improve sales? Horrible customer service. I carry myself in a positive friendly manner in general & when the people that you give your business to can't reciprocate I have a problem. Especially when they are in management. I came to this store because it said they accept Apple Pay on google. I got in line Joe Gagliano rang me up & when I proceeded to pay using Apple Pay he rudely told me they don't take it. I wouldn't have had any problem had he even expressed some consideration or empathy like the words - I'm sorry we don't accept that method. It's not about what you say but HOW you say it. I can accept no, but when people seem to enjoy to tell you no and they are in a customer service position, I don't understand that. Hopefully they can get some training soon. read more

I had the most pleasant shopping experience here in the midst of the virus challenges. I appreciate the limitations placed on some items so that there's enough for many. I was able to find everything that I needed and the food that my friend needed who could not go out to shop. I appreciated the friendly clerks who limited the people inside along with all the friendly workers trying to stock the shelves. Thanks Ralph's! read more

This is the only supermarket in area with Fish Fry and it's free. They put a Cajun spiced breading on the fish, it is so good. The staff is super friendly. Look for the fish or shrimp on sale, and it beats frying it on your own. The wait is 5-10 minutes, depending on how busy. I have never had a problem with quality. I recommend the Swai fish, it is delicious. I bought a pound of fried fish for 4 bucks. Check the weekly specials. Easy dinner. read more

The customer service in their deli department is awful. If you try to call they do not answer. I was on the phone for so long trying to get a hold of someone that I ended up walking in while still holding there were two gentlemen in the deli working and there were no customers and yet they still would not answer the phone I tried calling in twice. This is the most convenient grocery store to me and it's open til 12am which is suitable for my hectic lifestyle. Be careful of your surroundings. There are some shady looking people outside so don't make eye contact and bring some pepper spray or a friend while you're at it. read more

This review is about pharmacy in Ralph's. I recently moved to Whittier from Placentia and transferred all my moms medication to them. I had an excellent experience with the pharmacy in Placentia, so I was expecting the same service here in Whittier. That was my biggest mistake!!! First of all, the pharmacists in the store did not have any knowledge of the process how to get a prescription from the doctor. I specifically told them to call this particular doctor and instead of following the direction given, the pharmacist started to argue with me that he has another information. It was a guy with with accent and he said he was a pharmacist. I stopped talking to him and transferred all the prescriptions to Rite Aid. Next time, I had to call this pharmacy because one of mom's Doctor made a call in again to Placentia by mistake. I called Placentia Ralph to transfer the med, then called Whittier to process the transfer. The pharmacy tech states I should call the Placentia first. I told her I did. Then she states again I need to call them back to hold the medication. I asked her maybe she should call them. U know what she said? She said no, she is too busy to call them. She does not have time to help me. She is TOO BUSY doing WHAT? Helping customers? But isn't that her job to help customers? I was so stunned and told her forget it. That is why I am not going to Ralph pharmacy again for me and my mom. Every customer is equally valuable when it comes to customer service. I don't know what she thinks when she brings that kind of attitude to work and tell her customer she is too busy to help. Sorry, Ralph's in Whittier. This is the closest Ralph's by my house. I never had an issue here so far. I get my milk, baked goods, water, desserts, meats, veggies, fruits, and breakfast items here. The staff is nice and willing to help. There was one instance when we saw that the section where you get get a freshly baked chicken closed for the day. The lady working in that section saw us and we asked if she still had chicken available. Within moments she came from the back and pulled a cart with them. We were able to eat some warm chicken with our pasta that night. Thank you! read more

Seems like this place turned into Food4Less since all customers bag their own food. I have no issues bagging my own food, but I thought this was supposed to be a Ralph's store. The cashiers and baggers are slow and don't seem to mind having the customers do their job for them. The store needs to drop the food prices or hire more baggers. read more

I do 95% of my grocery shopping at this ralphs since the one at the Quad closed. Customer service is great, no complaints there. My one and major problem is that a lot of the advertised special product are not in stock when I go. It happens every time! I have a busy schedule and only get to the market once a week to stock up. I wait for the weekly ad, plan my trip and it is very disappointing when i get there and the shelf is empty. Please do a better job of restocking or purchasing accordingly. read more

I searched the internet for 3 hours and could not find them. Vanessa was very sensitive to my needs went on the internet and found them in 2 minutes. To those ladies who also had an issue with the girl in deli named Dominique, I hear you and also have had to deal with her unprofessionalism. I was with my elderly, ninety three year old mother ,who is barely walking with her cane, when she (Dominique) came walking like a bat out of hell, passing my mother, her shoulder brushed against my mothers shoulder and almost knocked her down. Now, I admitt she didn't bump into my mother too rough, however, if my mother had almost fallen over and hit the ground then I know that she must have felt when she briefly bumped into my mother in passing. She did not even bother to turn around and apologize. My poor mom was so shaken we immediately left Ralphs and went home. I conversed with my neighbors of what had happened to my poor mother and the day after we were no longer loyal Ralphs customers, having made the unanimous decision amongst us all to grocery shop at the Vons in the Whitwood mall. We will only go back to Ralphs once Dominique is no longer an overwhelming and justifiably so, a cause for concern. read more

I, too, had an awful experience with Ralph's deli employee Dominique. It was not to long ago I went in by the Ralphs deli and saw there were no pototoe fries. I asked Dominique if there were any more or if she could check to see if there were some potatoe fries in the back and she said no. I just happened to pass by there a short while after and saw that not only was she preparing potatoe fries, I saw she made the potatoe fries for herself then she had the last of the potatoe fries bagged and priced by another employee. I felt my blood pressure go up, I was so angry.Dominique lied to me only because she wanted the potatoe fries for herself. What kind of employee does that? I told a few of my girl friends what had happened and now we all shop at Vons down the street. Ralphs lost me as a loyal customer. I had been shopping at Ralphs markets for over 15 years. If deli worker Dominique continues to work for Ralphs, I am most certain Ralphs will continue to lose more loyal customers. read more

I had a horrible experience with what I thought was one of the most sweetest Ralphs employees I ever came across. I wanted my turkey meat thinly sliced as I have a delicate digestive track.Dominique cut it two, three times and each time I asked for thinner cut she rolled her eyes. I then heard her make a rude remark about me to another woman who also worked in deli. I am appaled. Dominique is the opposite of customer service and should be fired. read more

This has been my neighborhood grocery store since I was a boy and, in all that time, we have had only good experiences there. We have always been able to find what we need at low prices and the people are always friendly who work there. Plus, I really love a clean grocery store and the staff keep the place tidy. I must pass on the appreciation I have for this Ralph's market and the wonderful service they provided. My mother passed away very suddenly in the hospital early one morning. Her home was just a few miles away from this Ralph's market in Whittier. Later that afternoon our large family gathered at her home just to be together. Having gone through this type of experience with others in the pass I knew it was inevitable that people would be hungry. So I went to Ralph's, walked up to the deli department to order three large sandwich platters and a large fruit platter. When Steve, the gentleman who waited on me, ask when I wanted the food, I said I needed it right away like in two hours or so. He looked at me like I was joking. I knew I was asking for the impossible. Steve explained that he was the only person in the department at that time and didn't see how it would be possible accommodate me in such a short time frame. About than, Andy, the store manager came over and ask what I needed. I explained my situation. We talked briefly and Andy was sincerely sympathetic for the predicament I was in. He talked to Steve and said he could pull someone from another department to help out. They gave me a suggestion on changing my order slightly that would allow them to produce it faster and I agreed. I gave them my phone number and in about three hours I received a call from Steve saying that my order was ready. I can't put into words how grateful I am to both Andy and Steve for the understanding they showed and the incredible service they providing to our family during this difficult time. This is the closest supermarket to my house, so I have been here hundreds of times over the years. Several times I have sworn never to return due to the lack of service from employees. I once stood in the deli waiting to ask a question as two employees discussed their personal business. When they finally asked me what I wanted and I asked "Is there meat in this dish?", the response was "I don't know." I left and went to Vons saying that was it, I would not return. Because of convenience, I went back. This morning, I went to get balloons for my daughter's birthday. The place was not busy. I asked for assistance from a woman doing nothing. She stated she would send someone over. Ten minutes later, this woman was still doing nothing and had not sent anyone over. I asked another person for help and he said he would "have someone come right over". I left and went to Vons. It may take longer to get to Vons, but I probably save time as they are attentive and customer service friendly. If you are in a hurry, go elsewhere. read more
