Extremely disappointed in the level of professionalism displayed by ORLANDO. My wife called me nearly in tears after she accidentally dropped a glass bottle of Pellegrino near the self checkout aisle. ORLANDO ended up making her feel even more embarrassed then she already was by yelling "Oh my f******g god!" over and over again instead of asking her if she was okay. Obviously this was an accident but instead of being helpful, this employee was extremely obnoxious and even had the nerve to tell my wife, "Next time, be more careful because now I have to clean this up". I have no idea how anyone can employ someone like this in the service industry. It seems like the entire store is mismanaged. I tried calling in to speak to the manager on duty after my wife called me from the parking lot and someone named TREVOR picked up by saying "Hello", as if he was getting a call on his cell phone. After asking for the manager, he hung up on me. When I called back, I spoke with ANGELA who shared she would be speaking with ORLANDO directly. I have no idea if there was any follow through or recourse for his behavior because she did not want to take my name and number so that the store manager could reach out to me. I was told to call MATTHEW OR STEVE. I called in twice today and both times the line rang an indefinite amount of times. This store SUCKS! Moldy bread out on the shelf, rotten lettuce in bags in the produce section...WTF?!? My chip debit card works fine EVERYWHERE ELSE but doesn't work here and when I tell the cashier the problem all he does is try pulling the card out and putting it back in...do you think that I didn't try that already?!? Not sure why I bother with this location. Ever since the other Ralphs closed down in Encino, I've been coming to this location, mainly for convenience. I've realized it's not really convenient because I always end up having to drive to the Van Nuys location (on Burbank which I love) since this location doesn't have a good selection of items and generally sells out of everything I go there to purchase. But he proceeded to fix three drinks before mine and I asked about it. I was very polite. This is probably the best Ralph's I've found in Los Angeles The deli & hot service deli are one of the best and there's usually a line there when it gets busy 4:30-6:00 The bakery is to die for but things sell out fast especially if it is a holiday I always use the self-service check-out and there's always an attendant working there if you need things like batteries, cigarette lighters, fire logs etc. you get those items when you check out and it's much more convenient at SELF CHECK-OUT People that complain there's no cash registers open always come after a rush when all the employees are on break... The pickup has gotten fluid and functional, and they are always pleasant. It's timely and effective, and the staffs replacement picks are spot on. Also, this Ralph's is not a bad one. I've been going to this Ralph's since I moved to Encino in 2013. Things have been fine. However, in the last 3wks, I've seen 2 dogs inside this Ralph's (1 a huge Doberman and the other a medium sized mutt). They are many problems in this store, that they just don't care to improve: the biggest problem I see is the reduced price rack, placed right next, really close to the restrooms. They sell you one day old bread, for 1/2 price??? A third price would be enough compensation for the store, considering that the next day, the bread is expired!!! A very serious problem with bread is, that when the mold starts developing on products, it's not always visible, to the necked eye!!! Many bread packages are opened, unprotected from customers hands and the really powerful toilet flush, that goes on all the time. There are two tables with umbrellas to enjoy a cup of coffee from Starbucks that is inside the store. There were an assortment of plants for only $1.00 each on Tuesday ie. Petunias, Dianthus and Alyssum. Today there were just Alyssum available. A small pot of Marigolds are selling for 1.49 with beautiful blooms. There are still some available. They have a huge selection of Kosher for Passover products that are on sale. A jar of Yehuda gefilte fish (24oz.) is selling for $3.99! read more

Avoid parking closer to rite aid and panda and more so on the further end of the shared lot. The employees here are friendly and helpful when you need it most. Very small store -- which would be lovely, but they try to cram everything from a big store into the small space, making really narrow and cramped aisles, items crammed together, and a very challenging shopping experience. Came around noon to get a few groceries. So why on a holiday weekend do they have the cashier doing the bagging as well? Its July 4th weekend, get it together and staff a few more people. Most of the time they are friendly here, and they do have a great selection of everything you need. Halo top is on sale for 3.99, but i like it better when its 2 for 5.00. The store's aisles are so overly jam-packed with items for sale such as patio chairs (really?!), personnel unloading trolleys filled with goods or brand displays that the shopping experience is nothing short of unpleasant. I'd rather drive farther than utilize this messy, junky store. I don't know what the manager's thinking could possibly be for the jammed up asiles. I never write reviews but this ralphs has some of the worst management I have seen. My preferred Ralphs (encino/ havenhurst) has shut down so I changed and started to go to this ralphs. Besides always being understocked, the management is terrible. Today March 16 I went in to the ralphs got my groceries went to pay ( half cash and half card) the cashier made a mistake and accidentally hit all cash. He was the only cashier on duty at 9 am and there was a huge line forming and wait no MANAGER to be found. Really? A store that size and when the manager takes a break there is no one available to do anything??? I stood by the register with my $200 in groceries waiting for a manager that never showed up. Curbside pickup is a disaster... After automatic messaging status that the order was ready for pickup I had to wait 35 minutes... That would not have been so bad except that there were 15 different items not substituted or even attempted to substitute... I cannot imagine that the grocery store was out of steaks, chicken, Diet Coke, ground Turkey ,pretzels, Green onions and hummus to name of few... worst ralph's experience! saturday morng 11/3 9:30am... the store was bustling, lotsa people, lots of action. i grab my prepared turkey and gouda on baguette, and get in line. 1 register open... 5 people ahead of me (one a full family weekly shop). i wait and wait getting later for work, so i finally ask if someone can open another register, greeted with annoyance, i was told the only other person able to do that is busy, and ALL the other employees around are not "qualified ". no smiles, no apology just dismissal. get in my car starving opened the sandwich, and was so incredibly disappointed... it was dry and crumbling and disgusting! i hate this "fancy upscale" service! read more

I'm really reviewing Ralphs/Kroger corporation, not this Ralphs itself, but this is the only way I will be noticed (**sorry to review this location negatively, but I have no choice because the actual Ralphs in Encino where this happened has closed down**). Kroger never compensated me for my injury, I remembered this injury today, and now that I'm on Yelp I wanted to warn every shopper to shop there at your own risk to avoid this happening to you! So...I went to that other Ralphs and, because of their faulty main door (big, heavy, electric door), I slammed my hand into it and thought my hand was broken. There was a new golf-ball sized lump growing out of my hand for about a month, and it instantly became a nice dark purple color. The Ralphs manager admitted that they had problems with their doors and were actually getting them serviced b/c they opened and closed too slowly. He took my incident report, and was very nice about everything - very helpful in fact. I had to go to urgent care for x-rays after a few days because the lump was still there, luckily not broken, just a badly bruised bone. Paid for my urgent care co-pay, paid them for a hand brace they prescribed, that was about $70. A month had gone by and the pain was still bad and was also still swollen, so I went to see a hand surgeon to get another x-ray and exam, he confirmed that it wasn't broken, just a badly bruised bone, but that was another co-pay, and more of my time. But of course Kroger corporation and their insurance company from Ohio (I think that's where they were located) conveniently denied that I hurt my hand there. They claimed they reviewed the footage thoroughly (I had given them them the time of the injury to the minute) and I was conveniently not shown on camera at the time, even though it was at the only and main entrance. They spoke to the manager who told them that the door was faulty, yet they were hell-bent on not paying me or compensating me one penny. I was dumb, I should have gotten a lawyer to go after them after denying my claim and denying that the video even existed. I mean, it was only about $100+ in actual cost that I was asking for and claimed on my insurance forms. I never lied and said my hand was broken or sprained and needed thousands of dollars of work to fix it. But as it was my dominant hand, I became really slow at everything until it fully healed thanks to their faulty doors. OMG it HURT!! The least this multi-billion dollar corporation could have done was offered me a $100 refund of my medical expenses. Or sent me $100 worth of wine or something yummy to say sorry. ANYTHING to make me feel better. Even first-aid products sold there to help it feel better. Not even one freaking ice pack was offered. I still can't believe how much money I spent out of pocket after just spending only $10 in the store, and not one penny was offered to me by their greedy, crooked, &@@!@!$)))*@@#@ insurance people. Again, shop there at Ralphs at your own risk, or be smarter than me and get a lawyer if you are hurt there and deny your claim!. read more

It is the worse with it comes to checking out. I come here everyday and they only have one to two lines open all the time. I'm literally in line now for the second time today and they shut a line down and made us move behind a lot of other people in the others lines which was really messed up. Food is excellent when you can get it. Service at the deli is phenomenally horrible. When I asked for a Signature Italian Sub, which was on the marquee along with its ingredients, I was asked what I wanted on it. A fellow employee stated the sandwich was only made in the morning, which seemed strange since they're advertised all day & night. When I told the guy the sandwich is sometimes made stocked in a deli bin, he acted as if I spoke some strange language. I've had three incidents, similar in nature. I've called and asked to speak to the manager, and though the name on the receipt says the manager is Steve Gasparyan, I have spoken to three different people claiming to be a manager and none of them with the name Steve. Further, there have been no changes made to the staff's behavior. The ambiance of the store is crowed and junky. The deli area is so crowded with cookie kiosks and miscellaneous bins that you can barely get a shopping cart through. We are live in the Encino area and this is our grocery store of choice. But I have to say it's high time we consider a classier act than this store unless drastic staffing changes are made. And I don't mean training. The issues run deeper within the fiber of the caliber of individuals employed. Looking for and expecting change. read more

---Atmosphere, Service, Location & Parking--- This is a good sized store that I've been to many times. It's always clean, well stocked, and I've had no issues. I don't really come into contact with many employees but people seem to be nice. Can't really say too much. It's a market after all... Pretty easy store to spot right between Lindley Ave and White Oak Avenue. There's a pretty big lot so parking should be fairly easy.
