I love this location of Super King because it's close to my house and very convenient. However, it is significantly smaller than the other location which is why I gave it four stars instead of five stars. The parking lot is a nightmare to navigate. You have to enter on victory Boulevard when people are going 40 miles an hour and that can be difficult to manage. However, once you get in the store, even though it's very compact, the staff is very friendly and always smiling. They also are very helpful if you look like you need help. As usual with all Super kings, the food that is displayed is stunning. You can actually touch the produce. It very much has an international field to it. The deli is full of Mediterranean, Eastern, European and Hispanic foods. You can feel the vibe when you're there. It's not like American grocery stores. In fact, I much prefer it. read more

An excellent new addition to the super king family. This location is by far the smallest I've seen, so for that reason I probably won't be back to this location. I'm a huge fan of super king and I feel they have a very superior selection of produce and proteins. They are always well stocked, service is always helpful and effective. This location is new so it's very clean and beautiful. However beware that parking here can be a nightmare, that's is the main reason why it took me a while to come to this location. Their Northridge location has a full service meat and deli counter, bigger selection, bigger foot print. Overall this location is a must if you live nearby. On average I spend $60 for two people getting a bunch of produce and protein or about 3-4 bags of quality groceries. Bonus tip: a lot of items at super king are items you'd find at Whole Foods, Ralph's, Bristol farms but at super king prices. Glad to see this location took over a former 99 cent store I hope SK or other businesses take over more 99 cent stores as those lots were generally pretty big. read more

I've always dreaded the parking situation here when it was a different supermarket. Well it's still hasn't changed. Small tight spots and always so busy and crowded. For a big store, it's a really small lot that also shares with other businesses. There's street parking available in front but it's a small stretch and only available during certain time. Anyways... I finally stopped by to check what this place was all about. I knew I was going to pass by so a quick stop was worth it. Same situation, parking is crazy but we were lucky to get a spot. The layout of the store is quite open. It's does give a massive open vibe. You have the veggies and produce on the left which also takes up half of the store. The butcher area towards the back and then the right side is all the isles and fridge section. There's also an alcohol section to the corner. First impression, wow they have a pretty impressive produce section. There were loads of items and the best part, the prices of some of them were amazing. I guess their sales are quite good. Walking through and checking out what they had, even through the price was good on produce. Some items would probably needed to be used quite fast. Don't know how often produce are brought in but some looked pretty wilted. Their meat section did have some nice cuts of meat to choose from. The isles of items, it isn't that big. There's a good selection but limited. Compared to the big chains, some items you would need to get there. Also, some things are way more pricer than your chain store. Like double what you would pay at R..... or V... Anyways, it was a decent store. They did have loads of things that we would normally get but honestly. The parking situation is a turn off. I was quite surprised to see that my total for loads of veggies, chicken and few other things came up to only 37.00. read more

My second time coming here and again the parking situation is bad. Very little amount of space shared by the whole plaza that had other stores. Other than that it's a nice market that opened last summer. Fresh produce and imported items is what I get from here. They have a small deli department but no meat department. As far as meat everything is prepackaged and ready to purchase. Customer service is ok. read more

So glad another grocery store is open here on Victory. The parking lot is a bit cramped and the stalls are mostly small diagonal ones, but there are a few larger and longer stalls if you have a larger car. The store has a very wide range of different vegetables and produce, and a mixture of SK branded middle eastern flatbread, jarred fruits, and even some eggplant spread. There were some marinated meats like fajita style chicken and flap meat--very interested to cook it and see how it stacks up since Vallarta is not too far away and there are other carnicerias in the area. The store is effectively split into two sections: an open air produce section and then 4-5 aisles with a frozen section adjacent. There are several security guards, and several supervisor type employees ensuring everything is going smoothly--I like that they are somewhat overstuffed in this initial period while they figure out operations and smooth the kinks. The service was all friendly and attentive, and I think this location has a lot of potential, I'm very excited to stay tuned and especially to try out lots of the interesting products and broaden my horizons! read more

I've recently visited Super King twice and I'm pleasantly surprised with their inventory. While I haven't purchased all of my produce here, they do offer organic mixed greens. No brussel sprouts were available but plenty of other goods including enchilada sauce, string cheese, black beans, and cheddar cheese. Staff seem very friendly and helpful. I was able to use Apple Pay. I also love the layout of the store which feels like a big open space. Parking is rough here. Try to walk or park around the block. read more

I do grocery shopping a lot and often - I was looking forward to the opening of this store since the old 99 cents store closed. Before 99 this used to be Vallarta. Anyway I hope SK will stay - I think it's a little bit smaller than their other locations which js great because they'll just sell the best selection here perhaps. I bought some cold cuts and havarti cheese when I went last Friday - I love that it's not that crowded yet and while there is plenty of parking - this area is always tight like the spaces for each car is tight. That being said I also got some French bread and I noticed they have the brown bread that I love from Cheesecake and it's their own brand so it's affordable. I Of course you go here for the fresh produce, got some dragon fruit and kiwi that I know are ripe and ready (we ate them right away) and they're cheaper here than my regular store. Also got fresh basil, some other veggies that were priced well. My favorite thing I bought in this visit - tuna steaks! The place is clean and bright and a lot of check out counters and workers available if you have any questions. Will definitely come back as I pass by this place everyday. read more

This is a mini super king, but it gets the job done. The parking lot sucks especially when people don't pull all the way into their spots. The deli counter is super small, but they have the basics, although if you're looking for something specific, just take the extra ten minutes and go to the one further down victory. I was glad they have my favorite pumpernickel bread and fiancee was excited for his frozen pupusas and plantains. read more

Welcome to Lake Balboa. Newly opened Super King opened on July 7. There are now two Super Kings in Van Nuys. This grocery store was the late Jonathan Gold's (LA Times food critic) favorite grocery store in Los Angeles. This is a mini-version of a typical Super King. Hopefully it will alleviate some of the craziness at the other Van Nuys location. You come here for produce. There's some unbelievable deals it and people go crazy. Unfortunately, not all produce is of good quality. I wanted some red onions and all the red onions were horrible and old looking... almost going bad red onions out with flies all over them. Even the newer stock on the cart was almost rotten. Go for the product deals as most of the store is dedicated to fruits and vegetables. There some interesting European and Armenian / Middle Eastern products as well. read more

Went to the new SK market at woodley and victory. Huge clean store with a gigantic produce area. But...not a drop of organic produce. Cmon. I realize the organic produce customer is not your nread and butter client but to have not one single piece of veggie or fruit is an insult. Its their way of saying we dont care for your business. Great service. Very helpful staff. I just had surgery and was not very mobile but I needed to shop. The employees that saw me asked me if I needed help and were very accommodating. A nice woman (izreala?) even helped me to my car. I would be a regular at this location but the traffic and parking in front of the store is ridiculous and unbearable. Brand new location, I was super excited to see them open a location closer to my house! Unfortunately, this one is much smaller, but they do still have an excellent selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. The price is simply can't be beat, their lunch, meat and cheese excellent! Easy freeway access (unlike the Northridge and Van Nuys locations) in the old Vallarta and 99 cent store. A small location than most SK markets, however, it is clean, spacious and has all the essentials needed for all the weekly basic shoping needs. Parking might be slightly difficult, but thankfully each time I went there, I found easy parking. read more

Let me just start off my saying I love SK and have been shopping at the one on Van Nuys Blvd for years. I was very excited for this location to open since it is closer to me. For the most part everything I have purchased has been good, but this last trip I bought marinated chicken and it was expired - disgustingly rotten!!!! The second I unwrapped it - the smell was putrid!!!! I threw out the first pack I bought and went to defrost the second pack for dinner this week hoping it wasn't bad. Unfortunately, it was. So I went to return the chicken today. I did not keep the receipt as it was covered in raw chicken juice as one of the packets leaked. The SK associate who was at the help counter was incredibly rude and I hadn't even told him what had happened yet. He said his name was Creece (he sort of said it low so not sure if that's correct), but he was hunched over and off putting. He said he couldn't do anything to help since I didn't have the receipt and I purchased the meat five days ago. When I told him "it was in the freezer and once I defrosted it I learned it was spoiled. I'm letting you know so you can look into this and not sell spoiled meat to members of the community" he walked away to get a manager. The manager was much kinder and more understanding. While she couldn't give me a refund without the receipt, she did say I could select some items from the store for credit. I just grabbed grapes because it wasn't about the money, it was about selling harmful food to the community knowing it was rotten. This left such a bad impression so I'm not sure if I'll be shopping here as much as I had hoped. If you buy anything here, especially meat/chicken, beware and whatever you do, hang on to your receipt even if it has raw chicken juice on it! All Super King stores are not equipped with scooters for disabled people. This is a total discrimination against disabled people. As if they don't want any business from us. Nothing to compare to John's market, Food 4 Less, Ralph's, Vons, etc. This is very disappointing. I gave one star but they don't deserve one star at all. read more

I purchased a spice at this Super King from a brand called Sadaf. I've purchased this spice before from other brands, the ingredients on the other brands were just the spice or the spice with salt. When I got home and went to put away the spice, I discovered it contained soybean oil. One of the members of my household has a soy allergy. I took the spice back to the store. Completely unopened. The manager refused to take it back without a receipt. I explained to her that I rarely ever return things and therefore, I throw away the receipt. She couldn't care less. I never expected to have such an issue with a supermarket. The WORST customer service ever. I handed her the unopened container of spice and told her you might as well throw it away because I can't have it in my house due to the allergy. It would not surprise me if she put it back on the shelf for sale. I live close to this store and will never shop there again. Furthermore, I called their corporate office to mention the incident. I was told that someone would call me back regarding the matter. It's been over a week and nobody has contacted me. With so many choices for supermarkets, I would have expect them to have better customer service. When considering supermarkets, please consider others. read more
