Would have given it a much higher score if I couldn't have seen the chef eating off the grill with his fingers and then not washing his hands and preparing other foods. Coffee was good and prices were reasonable.

Curried chicken sandwich

Morts Deli is where the aroma of pastrami and dill pickles is so potent it's basically its own, very delicious, air freshener, and the soup can cure an ailment you didn't even know you had. Recently remodeled with a wall now separating it from the once attached Beas Bakery, this delicatessen has grown into its own unique space. Nice comfy booths, a deli counter showing off daily made egg salad, tuna salad, olives, cheese, juicy roast beef and fresh baked breads. We sat down and we were attended to by our hostess who brought us ice waters. We got the curried chicken sandwich on sourdough with potato salad and big pickle slices. It was well seasoned, nice soft bread, tangy mustard sauce on the side. I love that the curried chicken salad had raisins in it, which added a touch of sweetness. The potato salad was also very creamy and chunky and tangy. The pickles were so refreshing and crisp. They were a perfect contrast to the sandwich overall, with tax we paid around 29 bucks so definitely on the pricey side. My critique is that for the prices they are charging they need to be serving larger portions because the service was excellent, and the restaurant itself is very clean. A larger portion of potatoes and a bigger sandwich size!

5 stars just isn't enough for the experience I had a couple days ago at Mort's Deli. The menu itself is very impressive but the taste of the food was even better!!!! You can just taste the quality. Our server, Mario was super personable and kind. The manager, Don also came out and gave us a little history on the place which he just didn't have to do. Heard that I like pickle juice and brought me out a cup of pickle juice and a plate of extra pickles LOL! You just don't get this level of customer service anywhere nowadays. Back to the food... BEST pastrami rueben and pancakes I've ever had in my life! Coming back to try more of the menu and also because I throughly enjoyed my time there in all aspects as a customer. Mort's is how you do business the right way.

Matzo ball soup

Came for lunch with good company. Service was attentive and friendly. I opted for a lunch combo, which came with half a pastrami sandwich and matzo ball soup. The matzo ball was MASSIVE and light and fluffy; it was really a good bang for our buck! The pastrami sandwich was okay; not the best pastrami I've had, but it did the trick to satisfy my cravings. Lunch combo was decent at $19, and overall, a solid meal while in the area

Their deli remodeled! It is looking sleeker and more chic. The customer service as friendly as ever. I love the 10 minute turn around in a pick up situation. My husband was craving Matzoh Ball soup to sooth the soul. I knew I could count on Mort's for the perfect delectable Jewish chicken soup for the soul. I couldn't resist getting a couple of their Rueben sandwiches with a side of steak fries. Everything about this place is quality and soulful to every dish.

A neighborhood Jewish deli that is still a good one! I hadn't been here for many years and it was nice to come back. Our server was excellent and took great care of us. The food quality was superb. I will definitely come back when I am in LA. The portion was large and I had enough to take home and enjoy the next day.

EXCELLENT Jewish deli heaven. Matzoball soup so good, buttery, perfect... Ruben so good, pastrami sandwich ... pickles.. mmm... white fish salad the best ever, very smokey. GREAT coffee too. Amazing cappuchino - (exceeded expectations). Very attentive and friendly service. Shout out to Mario - he's worked there for 47 years!

Vegetable omelette

Excellent vegetable omelette and hash browns at Morts. Was exactly what I was craving. Professional service. Loved the bagel too. Clean comfortable restaurant, recently redone. Food was so nice and hot, fresh off the grill. Lots of vegetables. Will order the juice and try the espresso next time!

The authentic NY deli atmosphere.

Very solid food, very nice staff, quintisential deli atmosphere. I was surprised to learn they are owned by the Nosh of Beverly Hills, though Mort's feels more authentically "close to the ground." Blintzes: the format was wider than what one normally sees, which actually makes it easier/neater to eat, and truly delicious. (The jam on the side had chunks of berries making it a standout.) Grilled Cheese: perfect balance of butter on the grilled bread and nicely melted cheese. Flavour: excellent. Fries: very nicely done. Tuna melt: I decided to go outside the lines and got jack cheese. Very good choice. Cucumber salad as a side... dream worthy. Coffee was solid. Friendly service. Definitely worth getting off the freeway to get a bite here.

Todays menu with my ruben sliders

MORT'S DELI, DOESN'T MATZ-O-ROUND!!!! I just had the BEST Ruben Sliders! I'm so happy, that my sister Gena and I, decided to try Mort's for lunch! Best service and good food! The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because, I ordered the Mini Latke Rubens, from the Specials menu, what I got was Ruben sliders, minus the Latke's. (I didn't complain because we didn't have time to wait for the latkes) The other reason they didn't have 5 stars, was because the potato salad wasn't homemade or maybe it was homemade but tasted like the store bought potato salad in a container. Will I come back to Mort's? ABSOLUTELY! I'm dying to try the Matzo Ball soup!

Pastrami & Corned Beef - this is half of it. So packed and full!

To the right as soon as you walk in, there's seats and a table where you can wait for your to go order or to eat there. The entire shop was clean, neat and orderly. It's sensory overload walking in. There's a lot going on. The menu is massive. I knew what I wanted after doing some homework before arriving so I was ready. The lady that took my order couldn't have been more of a pleasure to deal with. I placed my order, paid, tipped and sat down. A few minutes later, I had what is probably the best sandwich I've had this year. I should have sat in the parking lot and enjoyed it but I wanted the elbow room because I knew this was a monster. After I got home and unwrapped this behemoth, I instantly knew it was worth the drive. The Dillinger (which is what I ordered) has Pastrami, Meatballs, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Mozz Cheese, Garlic Butter and Marinara Sauce. If there's a better (big back) sandwich, I'll wait for your reply. This was soooooo gooood. In every bite you could taste each ingredient separately and it was an explosion of flavors. I ordered a small cup of their marinara sauce to dip/drizzle on each bite.....couldn't have been a better decision. Worth it. The 3 ladies that were working the front counter (around noon on 4/23) were the best. Just an all around great experience and fantastic food. I'll be back soon FOR SURE!!!!

The ribeye arais was the standout--crispy, toasted pita on the outside with insanely juicy, well-seasoned ribeye packed inside. Every bite had that perfect balance of crunch and richness, and it didn't need much sauce, but the dips on the side took it up another level. The lamb arais was just as impressive--slightly more gamey (in a good way), super tender, and loaded with spices that gave it a deep, savory kick. You can tell they're not holding back on quality or flavor here. The sides tied everything together--the fresh tomato salad cut through the richness, and the pickles and sauces added that extra punch to keep every bite interesting. It gets its name and style of cooking simple Israeli food, from the famous market, of the same name, in Jerusalem. Important to note that Arais (Arayes), is actually a street food. Essentially, a homemade small triangular pita, stuffed with succulent meat, then freshly baked on a continuous rotating large plate, at the center of a gas fire clay oven called the "taboon". The menu here is very basic, but high in quality, ingredients and freshness. There are also other offerings. The owner is charming and most welcoming to all the patrons. Yes, there is love and affection. He has personality, that you hardly ever see in any restaurant. Providing complimentary tastings of his items, while you wait for their preparation and production, to go. In my case, small portions of the warm garbanzo beans with freshly made (silky and smooth) hummus, then pickles and onions, also with dipping. Both fantastic. If you do not get Arias when you are here, you are missing the point, or maybe in the wrong place. My choice was Lamb Arias, to go. 4 crisp and charred triangular pieces fresh off the taboon, accompanied with regular and green tahini sauces, and a small, unimpressive tomato onion salad ($26). The lamb meat was juicy, well seasoned and cooked perfect. Also, as a side, I added the Potatoes "Medura" ($7). This was truly amazing. Thick longitudinal wedges, well browned on the outside and soft on the inside. Overall, an unforgettable experience. Excellent service, fantastic food, and an unforgettable warm and comfortable experience.

I placed the order Saturday morning for 5 sandwiches via Doordash and they were delivered very quickly. On the Doordash app, you can only choose large size for most of the sandwiches. Only the Italian had the small option. That sucks as I was planning to order mostly small sandwiches, but this forced me to order mostly large sizes. All of the large sandwiches were $15.95, and the small Italian was $12.50. I also ordered two small cannolis for $2.95 each. The meatball sub was still hot when it arrived, and I was seriously impressed by the ginormous size of the meatballs. The bread was barely visible next to the meatballs! See my picture for reference. Most of my friends liked their sandwiches, but the person who got the hot pastrami commented that the pastrami was super bland. I tried a bite and I have to agree. Wouldn't recommend getting this. We each tried a bite of the cannoli afterwards. It was good as well, but I think I'm not a huge fan of cannolis in general. Would probably pass on them next time and stick to the meatball sub.
