WHAT A SAD, SAD STORE. Went there at 9 am Sunday. Only one cashier was on duty. One section of self checkouts was working, while the other was closed. People were self checking out large carts full of groceries, resulting in a long line to use self checkout. When I got to my machine, it wouldn't reset from the previous customer's transaction, so I asked one of the two employees to please come over and reset it. Her response was to point to another machine, and say "use that one" which I immediately pointed out to her was being used by the person who had been standing behind me in line. Then she just walked away, at which point I put down my groceries and walked out. THIS IS A DEPRESSING STORE. ITS CROWDED WITH WAY TOO MUCH STUFF CLOGGING THE AISLES, AND THE EMPLOYEES APPER TO HATE THEIR JOBS, IF NOT LIFE ITSELF. Truly the worst Ralph's market. Every time I go there, and I go a lot, I come out agitated and angry. Today, it started at the deli counter. There is one person working. 10 people waiting and the worker does not turn on the number tracker. Half the customers have numbers the other half don't have numbers (because tracker is off). Big mess. Waited 25 minutes for a half a pound of overpriced mortadella. There are workers at the deli counter but they are all walking around. Coming and going but only one person works. Okay... done with the rest of my shopping and I stand in line to pay. The cashier is chatting with the customer and moving very slow. I wait for my turn. I put a few things from my cart on the belt and the cashier turns to me and says sorry I'm closed. Are you serious? Did you not see me standing here for at least 5 minutes? Did you not see me putting my items on the belt? Now you are sending me to a different line? She said she was up since 4am and she was very tired. Absolute incompetence. Rude employees. Toxic culture. It's unfortunate that our neighborhood Ralph's is so poorly managed. Such a shame. I love Krogers but am not going back to this Ralph's. My primary concern with this store is the safety hazard posed by the excessively cluttered aisles. There's far too much merchandise crammed into narrow spaces, which I believe creates a serious fire risk. This is a dangerous store for your health. I tried several times to buy fresh salmon fish and it was missing, I tried sushi and poke and threw it away immediately as the fish was missing!!!! I've moved around A LOT, up and down southern California, but one constant is I've always been a devoted Ralph's customer now for 25 plus years. Always been pleased with customer service. This is the ONLY Ralph's where I've encountered very poor customer service. I asked an employee named Virginia tonight for help in finding an item, but she told me she had to do something "immediately" and couldn't. She told me to ask a cashier. She didn't look like she was doing anything important, but I understood, guessing maybe she'd get in trouble for leaving her restocking duty. So I went to ask the cashier helping with the self-checkout. Darius was friendly and immediately called for someone to help me. Low and behold, there was the same woman Virginia who refused to help me. He asked her to help me, but immediately she ran off, wouldn't look at me, wouldn't speak to me and I had to chase her down to see if she was actually going to help me. When I caught up, she was in fact going to the aisle to find the item I was asking for. I asked her why she didn't help me earlier and she replied "thank you." I was shocked at the passive aggressiveness towards a customer and then replied 'I've never not been helped by a customer service person at Ralph's.' She then replied again "thank you." I then responded with that she was 'being very rude and this was the worse experience I've had with customer service at Ralph's.' She then replied "thank you." I was just shocked at the bad behavior a customer service person would display towards a customer. This is my store and I love it. Today at Starbucks the guy working there​ was so helpful. Harley helped me figure out the drink I wanted and he and his coworker were so fast in getting our blended drinks done. I just watched an employee be so extremely rude to an elderly man in the self checkout. Broke my heart he was so sweet and was trying to figure out how to get cash in the machine and instead of simply helping him she made some very rude remarks. Was profiled (most likely racially) here today. Had a shopping cart with a white female security guard continuously following me for over 20 minutes. I traveled across the store to meet with a family member, cart-in-tow and she yelled across the store for me to stop and had a manager grabbed my arm to stand in front of me, embarrassing me in front of tens of people. Haven't been to this store in a long while and not planning on coming back anytime soon. The service and quality of employees have gone down significantly. First I asked an employee where the crackers are, after thinking for a while he said where the chips are. Not a big help because I don't know where those are either. After finding the right aisle I tried to find the specific crackers I was looking for. An employee stocking the crackers said they didn't have the brand, I pointed out to him that they do in fact carry that brand but apparently not those specific crackers. Went to self check out next where the registers don't work properly and you have to beg the rude lady for a 10 cent bag who tells you to step aside so she can scan her card when she can reach the scanner perfectly fine. We are convinced that the employees here at this location INTENTIONALLY give you poor service, usually grouchy, rude, and ornery, because it's so crowded and they simply don't want you to return. We were there at the busiest time of the day and only 2 registers were open, with 7 customers in each of the queues. The clientele here has changed and so has the staff. The Woodland Hills Ralphs is slightly better. WH employees actually smile and are polite. This Encino location's assistant managers don't even follow the headquarter's rules, so why would their other employees? Hostile attitudes all around by 90% of the employees. They act like you're bothering them when you ask them where a certain item is. They condemn you for returning unopened items WITH A PAPER RECEIPT that you're returning within a week, which is within the return policy. The conclusion???? They don't want customers to return. The district manager couldn't care less with the staff's negative attitudes. Encino used to be a safe and pleasant place to shop and live in. Things have drastically changed for the worse. Pavilions in Sherman Oaks will now have our patronage. read more

Every single time I come to this store, there is only ONE (very rarely two) cashier! The line of people is from 5-15 people deep! Do they care? NO! They continue to try to force us, the customer, tondo the work of the employees, without any compensation or discount, but instead even higher prices! I've complained to the manager several times about the displays cluttering the store aisles, leaving no room for customers to shop or maneuver. It got worse. It's a horrible place to shop. The Deli section offers wonderful cold cuts...but for the past 2 years, there has been no ticket dispenser creating havoc with customers arguing who is first in line. However I know why: 1.They have skinnier aisles than any other suburban supermarket. 2. The store is not organized very well and the aisles are very crowded. There is one cashier who should consider a career change because she is very rude. Sepi (the rude cashier) is only nice to the Iranian customers. She will smile at them and talk to them in Farsi. However, if you are not Iranian, she will barely look at you or exchange pleasantries. If you say, "hello" to her, she doesn't respond back. She always has an expression like she just sucked on a lemon. Great produce selection, always stocked and usually fresh. They're open until 1 AM so that's really great. And pro-tip, don't forget to check the clearance section next to the restrooms, it always has some nice surprises. Only negative about this place is that the lines get veryyyy long sometimes, and they just have one register open. The self checkout is okay, but not the best. Unlike other stores with self checkout, at this location you have to individually put each item down on the bagging area one by one, and it has to weigh it before it lets you scan the next item. It doesn't sound like a bad idea, but the software has a lag between each item, and something that could take 30 seconds ends up taking 7-8 minutes. While Ralphs is not my normal, everyday go-to market, I have certainly been here a number of times, and am qualified to comment on what it's like shopping here. Overall, I've had good experiences at this Ralphs location. I'm always pleasantly surprised to see just how broad a range of items they have on their many, many shelves.. Of course, while they have all the American marketing staples., they also have a surprising number of health-conscious items, including regular vegetarian and vegan vegetarian options. I have also found their produce to be pretty good, actually, for the most part. And, i'm happy to report that the service is usually friendly, and the prices are definitely right! Another benefit of location is the large number of self-serve check-out stations, which always makes the check-out process easier and quicker, and their late-night hours are definitely a plus when you are in a pinch or just want to go to the market late at night The reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is because, while it is definitely on the cleaner side, there's just something about this place that often seems like it could still be a bit neater and cleaner. No choice but to write a review, since they don't want to answer the phone. On March 19th, yesterday, my husband stopped by to pick up a few items, one being Broguiere's milk. He did it quickly so not to fault him but who would think Milk on the shelf is expired by THREE days??? Well the Milk he bought was, unfortunately-gross! So, today, he goes back to the same Ralph's to only ask the Ralph's employee (wearing a Ralph's shirt and standing at the door) who to return the expired milk to. His response, "oh, you can return it to the cashier". Husband goes to the cashier, Andrea T, who says to him, "Oh, honey, you have to go to the Manager." He replies, "first, that employee at the door [while pointing at the employee] with a Ralph's shirt on told me to come to you, he should know who I should go to- he works here, I don't"And it's my husbands fault? Ralph's, your selling EXPIRED MILK THAT IS THREE DAYS OLD, your employee calls him "honey" as in a condescending manner, she don't say sorry for the expired milk, she asked to see the expired date which I have to point out to her, and no one knows what they are doing, there is NO manager to be found and finally NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE and somehow this is all our fault?! Ridiculous! One, perhaps train your employees to check for EXPIRED products. Two, train your employees to provide accurate information when asked a question. Three, train your employees not to be condescending and use terms of endearments when not appropriate. Four, hire a manager that cares about their store enough to be present , oversee his store and staff and appropriately address customer concern.
