Coming in the morning, parking is plentiful, but stopping by for errands, I find it hard to recommend this Vons location. It's not quite the easiest to access if you're planning to get on and off the freeway, especially since the streets on the block are narrow and difficult to turn in / out of to get to the freeway. The plaza didn't feel the most safe, but for a quick in-and-out pick up, it's hard not to stop by. I ordered their super sub sandwich with everything from DoorDash, and despite ordering the same day, it was already the "Sell By" date... it was made 3 days prior. The sandwich itself featured bread that was quite dry. The rest of the ingredients were edible. To order, the app said to see the staff, but the staff were confused and stated that this was their first time seeing a DoorDash order even at self-check out. Eventually, they asked for the receipt - which thankfully DoorDash had access to. Overall, the experience was more stress than expected for a "quick pick up." read more

It's very sad how this Vons customer service is and how unkept it is. I've been going here for 35 years and Jay the courtesy clerk made me wait 20 minutes for a bottle of vodka for gift, and then when I clarified something with him, he snapped at me like a kid in high school school talks to their enemy. I used to work around the area. So This is one of the grocery chains that I shop, may it be for myself or my clients. They have a lot to offer. From fresh produce, deli, bakery and wide variety of groceries. One stop shop like Coinstar, Western Union and Red Box are on site. When the Cherries are in season, I'd love to come and purchase them. They are cheaper than the other grocery store nearby. They have a lot of flowers to choose from and they can do a customized flower arrangement. Yay!! While on the way out after shopping, you can get some fresh coffee in the Starbucks too. Parking here is usually a mess. There's always something going on next door at the cvs. Either a car parked in front or something! But anyways! The selection here at vons is pretty good! Their weekly deals are the only thing that keeps me coming back to be honest. They finally opened a self check out. I prefer self check out because I can see if my coupons went through or the items I'm buying are ringing up correctly. I've had instances where they don't ring up correctly and then I don't catch it or if I do the cashiers seem annoyed and the line was always long. Self check out let's me do things at my pace. The bakery is pretty good. I personally really like their baked cookies. They have a oatmeal cranberry cookie that was really good! Is this my favorite store. This review is for the BAKERY @Vons Tarzana. The bakery at Vons Tarzana is AMAZING! I went in the other day to order a personalized cake. The people in the deli were so helpful and told me who to call and when to call. Early the next morning I called for Emily. She was lovely and gave me all of the information. I placed the order, emailed the photo for the cake and added a few other details. I have to be honest, I wasn't sure what I would get... I went to pick up today and Patricia helped me - she was so sweet too! Anyways the cake- WOWOWOWOW!! I was so impressed and excited, it completely exceeded my expectations! So I never really write reviews but I am just shocked and angry listen to my shopping experience this morning. I went to Vons with my 2 small children this morning and Mary a very witch like looking lady was soooo rude and shoved my 4 year old. This is not the first time she was rude. Last time I let it slide thinking well maybe she was just having a bad day but now looking at the reviews others have had bad experiences with her as well. After today, I was not about to let that slide. I talked to the store manager which I doubt he will do anything but I definitely will never be going back to this store. OK, for the most part this is a great place to shop. There are some lovely employees. There are some lovely Starbucks employees but then there are some not lovely employees. Specifically the dude that does the sushi. He has upset me like twice now the first time I was just like can you make something without cucumber because I literally hate cucumber and everything is cucumber and he was like I'm going on my break. OK cool I get it. I work for a living I understand. But then recently I was like hey would you mind making a roll without cucumber and he was like I make everything with cucumber and he was not trying to hear me out. But you guys hear me out like at Ralph's they're like oh you don't like cucumber come back in 10 minutes and your roll will be ready. You go to Gelsons. They're like come back in 10 minutes. Your roll will be ready but the dude at this market is just like I'm not feeling you. OK fine. I won't buy sushi from Vons fair enough. And then there's a cashier and she is super oddly aggressive and like if people talk to each other while we're in line like having a friendly banter, she gets pissed. I have found that I can avoid being upset with her if I avoid eye contact because then she can't look at me dirty and for some reason, she's obsessed with giving you the receipt and like I'm like I don't need the receipt and she'll be like you don't want your receipt you don't want your receipt. I was like no I don't want my receipt and even one time the bag dude was like dude she doesn't want the receipt. Super weird. But other than that, everyone else is quite nice. read more

This location gets the job done. Since it isn't the closest to me this isn't my "home" Vons. I stop by after my hike up the mountains as it has a Starbucks or anything I may need. They are well stocked with items and the staff is always friendly. With the weird construction they have going on in the plaza and closing off parking spaces, it can be a little frustrating. read more

I went into this Vons location today to the Service deli to get a sandwich. The deli person had a beard and it's against the law in California to have an exposed beard while preparing food. I mentioned something to the manager or the guy who claimed to be a manager and he was rather lackadaisical about it. I walked back to the guy at the Service deli. This store has serious work to do. Today they had NO Lactose-free milk on the shelves. I am writing this on December 3rd, 2024, at 8:00 PM. I take that back; they had Lactose-free egg nog and that was IT. The fruit they offer is so much worse than the Ralphs' network... To give just one example, the apples they have are all lunchbox-sized versus big, thick, juicy ones at Ralph's. Mandarins are like 8 bucks a bag versus 4-5 bucks at other stores. So crazy. I only go there once in a while since it is closed to where I live. The parking lot especially at night is like a circus, infested with homeless and super loud music coming from huge speakers that some of them hobos brings to the lot, cars are parked on the red and the poor guard has to constantly fight people who try to steal. In general a total lawlessness. The people complaining about homeless people and druggies in the parking lot are hilarious, shame on the workers here for not exterminating the homeless people . I've honestly never seen moldy produce here contrary to many reviews, and the service is good, I don't expect every employee in every store to look at me, smile, and start a conversation, like please stop expecting that from people and expecting that from your employees, just let people go off vibes. I didn't realize that a Vons could be this bad. The one closer to where I live, in Chatsworth, has fresh food, is mostly well-stocked (and stuff isn't locked behind bulletproof plastic), the staff is friendly, etc. This one is exactly the opposite. One checkstand running with a long line (and a SUPER sour clerk who never acknowledged me, despite my greeting her, saying thank you, bagging my own food, etc.), a different employee literally yelling "I can help but I will NOT run register. I refuse!," and a refrigerated section with an obviously broken compressor mechanically belching GGGCCHHHKKKKKCCCKKKGGGHHHLLLKK!!! Oh. And I went to pick up some Prime (sports drink) for my kids, and the first one I grabbed was already half-drunk. Seriously, go to Gelsons instead. This Vons location is in Tarzana and is very Small. They have Starbucks inside and DMV yellow machine for registration tags at the exit of the store. Very convenient! This store isnt as big as other locations and the patking lot is big, but the location shares with other business. It also has construction gates up in the middle of parking lot. Parking can get busy and a pain with traffic going through. If you shop at the right time its easier to get in and out of location. Usually, the store is stocked up with whatever you need. Came here to exchange new unopened diapers from one size to another. Have previously had no issue here with this last month. Had the unfortunate experience of encountering supervisor Sam who was appallingly dismissive, rude, and overall unable to communicate professionally or even properly. I had to go to the level of calling the DM Shawn who has been more than helpful and kind in such matters. When attempting to speak with Sam, she refused to talk with him, stating "I don't wanna talk to him." If she's this rude to the DM, you can imagine how she treats customers. They ultimately refused to exchange the NEW UNOPENED diapers for a different size even though Shawn approved the switch. No problem, we took our business elsewhere down the street to Ralph's who were happy to exchange them for us. Though Shawn is a great DM who tries to improve Vons stores, he seems to have an unfortunate crew of "supervisors." read more

The 5 stars is for the young man working the deli section. Whenever I go to get some lunch I always see & hear him. Idk what's wrong but he's usually the only one there helping EVERYONE out. Idk why he doesn't have anymore help especially during lunch time. This young man has curly blond hair with glasses (forgot to ask his name) but Vons give him a very nice raise or promote him I've been coming here on and off for years and he's always busy but very helpful and kind. She always overcharges me. She constantly puts wrong codes. I bought 1 pond of apples $0.88 per pound. She charged me $3.50 instead of $0.88.. wen I came home, I realized that. My old neighborhood Von's and I still stop in on occasion especially since I'm in the area a few times a week. Everything I need to find is usually in-stock but sometimes runs out and rather than cover the tag or just not stock anything here... they have a tendency to fill with a similar product which can be confusing and causes issues at check out for some. I use the Vons app and love saving as much a possible, however this locations sometimes is out of or in the past not carrying an item or two offered at a discounted price... they seem to be getting slowly better, but the prices are still the highest compared to Ralph's and other competitors. The crew is pretty great up front, but not the most helpful on when on the floor... the bakery is somewhat ever changing so they don't always have the same stuff consistently pre-made as far as pies and pastries go... I've never seen hummus so marked up in my life... and I shop at whole foods as well.... Today I was surprised they let a guy with 30 items check out at express when I only had 7... definitely a 3 star Vons on a good or bad day... nothing more and nothing less... A few noteworthy things: *The store is kept organized and clean... *The parking is abundant so no complaints here at all... *The non organic produce is freakishly larger compared to average sizes... *The Vons app mainly the Just 4 U feature is the only way to truly save money here or at any location. *Promotions aren't always highlighted or noted by the clerks and crew *The Starbucks inside is average at best.... *The bathrooms are terrible if you every have to use them. read more

Even though I live in seattle,Washington I visit my parents who live nearby. Today I walked to the vons service deli to purchase some Dietz and watson black pepper turkey breast. As the service deli was slicing the turkey their appeared to be mold growing. Unfortunately the the turkey package chub was opened 6 days ago and expires tomorrow. I politely asked the service deli employee to open a fresh chub of Dietz and watson black pepper turkey and he said no. I asked to speak to the service deli manager and she was very rude and said NO we won't open a fresh package of Dietz and watson because we would have to throw away the old package. I was so angry I asked to speak to the head store manager and he was very rude too!! He also refused to open a fresh package of Dietz and watson black pepper turkey. I then told the manager im going across the street to gelsons and he said I don't care that you are spending your money at gelsons across the street. The customer is always right in my opinion but not at this vons!! They management would rather sell old expired food just to make a profit which is disgusting and wrong!! Both the service deli manager and head store manager are very rude and only care about profits not their customers!! Also this vons was selling fresh cut up fruit that was rotten and almost expired!! This place needs a major upgrade. The entire complex needs a facelift actually. I stopped going here because I was tired of always having to wait in line because only 1 register would only be open during busy shopping times. I happened to stop in the other day for a quick snack and noticed that now the liquor is barred up. This does not make me feel comfortable to shop here. I saw those 2 stars on Yelp? I think it worth more. Maybe not 5 stars, but still, the place is beautiful. It is big, they have many quality merchandise, and they even have Starbucks inside. One thing bothered me about today's visit (Thursday noon), is the smell that came from their Deli area. Really bad small that made me feel little sick. It is a great market, big fruits and veg section, and easy to find what you are looking for. Needed answers for some basic questions, but couldn't find anyone to answer. So walked all the way to the cashier for answers. Overall it is a place I am planning to return to. And always fun to finish with Starbucks to go. read more
