Raley's is the best grocery store in Pleasanton. I've been shopping here for over 20 years. The staff is awesome and so helpful always. Jake in the meat department goes over the top to accommodate my weekly salmon order. He has it ready for me every Thursday morning. This store is clean and has the best food, meat and produce. I've never actually went grocery shopping here, but I have picked up some lunch here.. This is a beautiful location! Maybe it's because I'm from the ghetto of San Jose, and I'm used to a bunch of minorities elbowing each other in the eye for a good sale... But their Chinese food is good, sushi is decent, and the actual hot deli of Raley's is pretty good, too. And cheap! This place saved me from starvation many a times when I was working at the nursing home down the road. Thank you, Raley's! I miss you! read more

This is right across the street from where I work, so it is convenient. Their prices are a bit pricey from where I usually go. The store is kept very good, I always see people doing inventory and restocking their items. Their service is alright, some greet with a hello or ask if I need any help, but while there are others who seem to be grumpy or in some kind of a bad mood (one particular person who is at the register). Moving on to their deli, they have some pretty good sandwiches, sushi is good too, and their Chinese food as well. Overall, I still come here during my lunch or to get whatever I need to get. read more

This market is right by my house so I go here by default. I like how they have a "healthy" foods section with bulk bins of granola, trail mix etc. They have a nice cheese/bread selection. They don't have a butcher shop but have prepackaged meats/fish. I go here for my sandwiches. They have "dutch crunch" bread, and load me up with 2 kinds of cheese plus the usual lettuce,tomato, onion, pickle...great deal! read more

They have good soy ice cream (double rainbow) and soy whipped cream! This is awesome since I'm allergic to dairy. Also, they have some other things that the nearby Safeway does not like Whole Cut Up Chicken. Looks nicer inside since the remodel. Docked a star since the prices are kinda high comparatively and my dad said he found expired stuff multiple times. Overall a good place to pickup hard to find groceries. I do more of my normal shopping at Safeway though because of the prices. read more

Beautiful grocery store...I do feel kind of weird saying that....but the size is little overwhelming for me, because if I forget something on one side of the store when I'm shopping, I'm a little to lazy to walk all the back and will just get it on a return trip. The only thing I don't get are the goofy shopping carts...they look nothing like the shopping carts at Target, Trader Joes, or any other retail/grocery store that I have been to?! I have been shopping at Raley's for 19 years and have enjoyed the service and selection. However, today I ran into 'ugly' customer service from a pharmacy technician. Not only did she make me wait in line for 2 minutes while she joked around with her friend, she was ready to ring me up FULL price for my medications when I've had my insurance on file there since 1999. I had to ASK her why it costed so much and she rudely and condescendingly said that I don't have insurance and made me go home to retrieve my insurance card while in the past when my insurance has lapsed, the technicians were very accommodating. In our society of choices and social media, it takes only one bad apple to sour the entire dish. I will be looking to change my pharmacy to CVS or Safeway. read more

I go early in the mornings, and although there isn't a lot customers around, the staff is hard to locate to find something. Everyone seems to be chatting away with personal convos and it makes me feel awkward to interrupt to ask a question. Other than that, the store is always clean. read more

Beautiful store- well laid-out with great selections- and of course good people. My favorite section is the Meat Dept.: Harris Ranch amongst others and usually a great sea food selection. Heck their hamburger is about as good a Cattlemen's and that is without seasoning! read more

I like this grocery store far more than others in the neighborhood - mainly because of the superb bakery and delicious deli sandwiches. Their donuts are the best and I always get a dozen for work or for my niece who only wants the Raleys donuts. Their cakes and fruit tarts are to die for. I have not had very good luck with the help I get from their associates but this is not always the case. read more

Went in today to have sandwiches made for my daughter and I before an A's game the lady making it I think her name was mei ling didn't know how to make a sandwich the first one was built terribly the second one she was making she was half way thru it,some bigwigs in ties were doing a walk thru so she stops making my sandwich halfway thru walks over and starts organizing pannini's! ! Then walks away over to the deli I walked away myself at this point I came back and picked up the sandwiches when my shopping was done she cut and wrapped the first one didn't bother cutting the second,I won't be returning for a $6 sandwich from here read more

I am not sure if I would go back to get my rib eye roast bone-in there any more. I have had several bad experiences with this one butcher at their meat department. I think he just wanted to get rid of their meat to customers when he knew the meat was hitting its expiration soon. He would tell you he would go inside to cut you a fresh one but each time he would come out with a dull and dark colored meat when the fresh ones were displayed at the front window. I had denied a few times to take what he brought out but requested the one from the display window. I am just curious why he would treat his customers like that? Was it because that's the protocol of their meat department i. e. the fresh ones are for display only! If that's the case please put up a sign! read more

Guys, just went to your Pleasanton, CA location on Sunol Blvd to buy a battery. I looked all over where you recycle old batteries and couldn't find it. Finally, I asked two cashiers and the answer was twice: "we don't recycle old batteries." Are you F....ing kidding me? Any kid in Pleasanton as soon as preschooler knows better. Super supermarket. The regular staff are always polite, pleasant, efficient and helpful. Moreover, they invariably look clean and well-groomed. Yes, I know - one would expect that in a place selling food - but it certainly isn't always the case in other local supermarkets! I love, LOVE their pharmacy! From the smiling manager - who, however busy he was, always took the trouble to acknowledge my schoolboy son when we collected his medication; to the counter staff - who deal patiently with even the most difficult of people and who amaze me by their ability to remember customers' names..... They all deserve more stars than it's possible here to award them! read more

We love this store. They are helpful and the premade food is always fresh and tasty. It is like old time stores that when we first moved to the US used to be like. I used to buy their fresh baked French bread everyday till one day I found a long black hair in the bread and I have been buying fresh baked French bread from Safeway ever since. The check out persons who seem more mature should be the ones working in the produce and the baked goods department so they can keep the vegetable and fruits from getting hit around by the young workers who take out their anger on the produce, once home the bananas, apples, peaches last one day or two from all the bruising. I love Raley's. I like their clean stores, the appropriate lighting, the clean and fresh produce displays, the selection of merchandise, the orderly and fresh meat departments, and so on. I also like the friendly clerks and management staff, who go out of their way to assist customers in a real manner, rather than just by superficially calling me by name after reading it on the receipt as Safeway employees are obviously requested to do. That's meaningless to me ... actually, I prefer the privacy. I switched from shopping at Safeway years ago to shopping at Raley's for the above reasons, and because of the difference on customer focus and willingness to go out of their way to help a customer demonstrated by Raley's versus Safeway. For example, I used to be a regular shopper at Safeway- for over 20 years. I would pay by credit card which I always paid in full at month end. I had a need for cash late one evening and tried to pay by check at the same Safeway. Despite the fact that I had IDs, and that I was a long time customer of the store, and that I had a discount card with Safeway, the cashier and then the manager refused to allow me to write a check for the purchase because they said I "had not established credit with Safeway by using checks before". In contrast, I have never had difficulty in paying by check at Raleys - I usually pay by credit card, but occassionally, if I need cash, I write a check for more at Raley's rather than make an additional trip to the local ATM. At Raley's, I I have not had the embarrassment, and hassle, to have my check refused at the register. Thus type of treatment has happened more that once at Safeway. I almost never shop at Safeway now, and, if I do, I am reminded of why I usually do not. I also find that Raley's puts more emphasis than Safeway on keeping their stores and displays clean and fresh. One only needs to look at the organic produce to see how old generally the merchandise is at Safeway when compared to the freshness at Raley's. There is also a significant difference in price in most of what's offered. read more

Raley's has been my go to store since the closing of New Leaf. I have appreciated the expansion of healthy & quality foods at the store. Today the cashier didn't know store policy and wasted 1.5 hours of my time. When I brought my full cart to the checkout I asked the cashier about writing a check before he began to ring up my groceries. I clearly explained that I needed to write a check because my credit card was compromised & in the process of being replaced. He said he just needed a CDL for identification. Turns out store policy is you can't write a check for over $50 if you haven't written 5 checks in a year. I haven't written a check there in years and I had about $300 in groceries. He rang up my full cart and then turned down my check! He wasn't able to communicate clearly what was actually wrong. I asked to speak to a supervisor & all the store clerks were acting very immaturely while I tried to understand the problem. I definitely didn't want to waste 1.5 hours of my time, I wanted to leave with the groceries so I could prep for two parties in the morning. When I finally understand Raley's has new policies that punish good people for the actions of criminals I gave up. I appreciate the supervisor's maturity & help getting my personal bags back from the clerk who ran away with the cart. I highly advise hiring more mature clerks & training them on store policies. read more

Prices are high. Some items are really over priced. Some are just 10% higher than Safeway. I will happily pay extra to support a local business. So, that might recommending taking what's well priced at Raley's then getting elsewhere what is not well priced. There is enough staff and checkout lines aren't long. They always have house-essential things and are well stocked for the respective season. read more

Bad BBQ pork. Usually, I can't help but buy some BBQ pork from the Chinese deli at Railey when I'm in town. Well, I not going any more. The worst sandwich service I've ever seen! I went to buy a sandwich and thee was this lazy woman who didn't even wanna move to help me. Moreover I explained it to her what I wanted and she had me repeated thousand times which was very annoying. I was on my phone because I had to talk to my mother so I forgot to tell her to warm it up. She was already done wrapping so I had to tell her to warm it up and she got very mad at me. She yelled at me for being in my phone and she said" next time don't be on your phone so you can tell me what you want" that was very rude of her and she was at least 60 years old. I could've said something but I respected her and I will never go there again! read more

I live in Pleasanton and work in Fremont. I live very close to the Raley's on Sunol Blvd., so it is very convenient. The store always looks nice and they have a great selection of different products and great produce. The only problem I have is with a Manager named Jamie. I have observed her being rude to the other employees to the point of yelling and screaming at them. Does she think the customers can't hear her? I have approached a few employees and asked why they put up with such a hostile environment and they all said they fear retaliation from this woman. I then asked why don't they report it to the store manager (John) and they said that he does nothing about her behavior. Apparently this has been going on for a long time. Knowing this, I have watched this woman stand outside and talk on her phone or to other people for the entire time that I am shopping. I realize she may be on her break, but it has been longer than an hour while I wait for my prescription and do my shopping. I cannot stomach someone being so rude to her employees. She has no business being a Manager. This woman clearly needs an anger management class. I will make an attempt to talk to the store manager and then after that, I will be calling the corporate office and shopping elsewhere. read more

It's now the closest store to my son's preschool, so I somewhat begrudgingly went there to pick up a few quick things. Wow, what a difference! Went in to get a breakfast burrito, took 8 minutes for anyone to service me, and when they did it was this woman who looked like I just ruined her entire day. To make it worse they were out of what I wanted even though it was 9:15 in the morning on a Friday. We have lived in Pleasanton for 20+ years and have tried the other "grocery stores" in the area but none of them in my mind come close to the staff and family, friendly atmosphere that Raley's gives. Their health food department is vast and if ever there is something I may be looking for that they do not have, they will make the effort to get it ordered. Store management REFUSES to open the 15-item or less check out, even when requested and when there is clear need to do so. They apparently prefer having those folks provide FREE labor to the store by using their (in)convenient self-check out lanes. It's been made very clear to me that they don't care what their customers want; it's all about them and the bottom line, I suspect. FREE labor means one or two fewer checkers to conmpensate any given shift. I personally refuse to work for free, so I am taking my business, after 25 years as a regular, to the nearby Safeway on Bernal or the New Leaf market close to my home. read more
