Great food, quick service, and friendly staff. If you're in the Mililani area you need to try this.

As a resident of the area, I've had other options at this establishment in the past and felt it was a good a time as any to give a fair review. I tend to have a bit of a standard when it comes to good quality Oxtail soup so naturally when seeing this on the menu I have expectations but I also wanted to come in with an open mind. Can't knock it till you try it right? My honest opinion of that particular menu item is that it just isn't all there. The broth was very under seasoned and the oxtail severely needed an extra hour or two of boil time to really break down the fibers, fat and sinew to produce a richer broth and tender meat. As a result it was a rather tough rip and tear with fingers and teeth kind of meal. They also gave a ramekin of ginger that had to be at least a few days old dried out on the counter. So on that scale I would rate the dish a 5/10. I've tasted much better, made better as well, but I've had a lot of worse ones than this too so take it as you may. My overall impression of Rakumen, however, is actually a positive one. They give generous portions with complimentary deals, online discounts and a number of customizable options for combos, noodles and broth. This isn't the highest of quality places but when you're hungry and on a budget, this just about does it. Can't go wrong with gyoza upon gyoza. Hope this helps! read more

Was really craving pho, but this was the only thing nearby that wasn't about to close and I didn't want fast food. Ordered the Ma bo Tofu ramen and it was really gross. The noodles were a big lump of mush and the ma bo tofu had a really weird taste to it. It was about $15 I think, and it went to waste. I ended up dumping the whole thing and didn't eat dinner. Maybe the other menu items there are better, im not sure but i don't think I want to chance it. On the plus side, the place looks really clean! read more

Wow this place is great!! The menu selections are deep as compared to other ramen shops. Well lit and clean and the service is outstanding!! BYOB....moa betta!! Recommend the chicken katsu curry which can feed 2 people. All their dishes they give fat portions and we always have to take home, which is even better. I really like going to Rakumen because of how close it is to my house. Rakumen has take out and the take out food quality is good. The restaurant inside is clean, but the pick up counter is close to the door, which makes some congestion. The staff is friendly and welcomes you, which is pleasant. read more

So upset. Literally tried to order dinner. I was on hold for 20 minutes, I could hear everyone ordering so I stayed on the line because if I hung up and tried to recall it would be line busy. After 48 minutes on hold, we got to the restaurant and when we notified them that I was on hold they hung up and just laughed about it. I have been going to the Starbucks in this same shopping center for years, this place never was on my radar but it should have been, holy moly. The food? Incredible. The portions? Insane. I can eat A LOT, I'm a really in-shape guy, 5'7 heaven, I work out all the time and I have a stomach like a bottomless pit- but I got the chicken katsu and the jumbo gyoza, and now I'm telling you that I took some of it to go, this place defeated me and I couldn't be happier about it. Now I'm 100% stoked to have a lunch for tomorrow! On top of everything, the servers are super attentive, they sat me down immediately and my food was out within minutes, the kitchen really has their best foot forward. I was excited to hear about Tanaka opening at Mililani Town Center, but after a terrible experience at their Pearlridge location, I needed to find an alternative nearby. Rakumen was recommended and I think I found my new favorite restaurant. They make their chicken katsu the way I like it, which will definitely bring me back. The katsu was crispy and the sauce just how I like it. I ordered the chicken katsu salad, which I really enjoyed. On my next visit, I will try their ramen. Portions are generous and their prices are fair. This is a hidden gem that I can't wait to return to. read more

Oh boy oh boy! So happy to have a ramen place again in Mililani Mauka! Just so happen I saw on my facebook feed that they're doing a soft opening today, so I decided to check them out. They're located in the same building as Poke Stop and took the spot that was formerly Mililani Mauka Chinese Restaurant. Just so happen adjacent to that spot was Genki Ramen 2, which I believe had the same owner as Mililani Mauka Chinese which both closed during the beginning of the pandemic lockdowns in 2020. Coming into Rakumen, I noticed they were already busy making takeout orders. But I wanted to dine in and they seated me quickly. My first impression of their service so far is great. There was about three front of the house staff running around, and while they were busy taking orders and handling takeout, they still quickly checked in on me and refilled my water and fruit punch. I was surprised how attentive they were and I hope they'll continue to have that energy far after their first opening day. Getting to ordering, I wanted to try their tan tan ramen and beef curry rice. Personally, these dishes are how I measure the quality of ramen places here on the island. So far, most ramen places I've been to have given me somewhat bland tan tan ramen. Today, I was pleasantly surprised that their tan tan broth had flavor. However, I kind of like spice so I still had to add chili oil lol. As for the beef curry, it seems about similar in taste as other places. Oh and one thing I forgot to mention, when I was first placing my order, I ordered their tan tan and a mini beef curry. My server however, suggested getting Combo A and picking the mini beef curry as part of the combo and that I can upgrade from the regular ramen to tan tan for a little extra. This way she said I could save some money and get extra. So instead of just getting the tan tan and curry separately, the combo got me both plus gyoza! By my surprise I didn't know they also did happy hour specials, and since it was about 3:30pm I got an extra 4 pieces of gyoza with my order for free! I thought it was really awesome of my server to make that recommendation. I find most other places just take orders without acknowledging other options, so I really appreciate the service they gave me today. Also, while I did not order any, I'd like to mention that they offer milktea and slushie drinks. I decided to pass on that today since I'm not big on milkteas, but thought it was cool that they offered those drinks. Lastly, I want to mention that this place looks great for groups. They got the space and half the area is set for tables of six seats and the other side with tables of four seats, so come check them out and bring your family or a bunch of your friends! read more

My daughter's second favorite restaurant. lol We had the spicy beef ramen, spam katsu, and gyoza. The spicy beef ramen was super spicy for us but was soooo good. My daughter loves the soup so much that we took the leftover soup home. Gyoza is really good. I would say my top 2 favorite place to get gyoza. Restaurant is new so it's very clean and nice. So I decided to go to the Mauka side and I was pleasantly surprised. I tried the Curry Ramen with Chicken Katsu and my mon has the Tempura Udon and a side order of Kim Chee. The Kimchee was delicious and both of us really enjoyed our noodle dish. I had a decent portion of Katsu which was cooked to perfection. All in all, the experience was great. The only minor complaint would be the radio/music was a bit too loud for my liking which made it hard to talk with someone but that is probably just me. read more

I got the Kimchee Ramen. The broth was outstanding, the Kimchee itself cooked to perfection, I loved this place. The staff was super kind food was great, only improvement they could make is bending their own noodles. Noodles tasted as if they were pre packaged which isn't a terribly big deal, but if you wanna take it to the next level that's how to do it. read more

We've been trying different ramen places recently and I've really took a liking to black garlic tonkotsu ramen. So when I got a 15% off coupon in the mail for this new ramen restaurant I never heard about in Mililani, I got super excited because they had it on their menu. We went for dinner but was super disappointed. It's not as good as the "authentic" ramen restaurants we've been trying. And I say "authentic" because I've never been to Japan so I haven't had ramen there but there is a big difference in taste between Chinese owned ramen restaurants and Japanese owned. This one is Chinese. The tonkotsu ramen lacked that rich, delicious flavor I'm used to. It tasted like regular broth and was a little on the salty side. The black garlic tonkotsu was the same. Lacking in flavor and salty. The black garlic taste was very subtle. We asked for more black garlic and it was different than other places. Usually it's black and more if an oil consistency but theirs was brown and like a softened butter consistency. The gyoza was ok. Probably won't order it again. There was a lot of cabbage in it and the cabbage was a little crunchy and undercooked. The calamari was ok too. It was very soft but served with what seemed like a sweet mayo sauce. Would've been better with marinara. The shrimp tempura curry rice was also just ok. I usually love the curry (not the sweet ones) ramen restaurants usually have but theirs tasted a bit different. It was like the one I love but with something added. Whatever they added didn't make it taste better. Overall I wouldn't come back. We'll still have to drive out of Mililani when we get that craving. May try the seafood crispy noodle since that's the only other thing I love from these ramen restaurants but both Genki Ramen and Nagoya Ramen have it and they're closer to my house. read more

Me and my family LOVED this place! We got sat immediately when we walked in, and our food came in less than 10 minutes, the fastest we've ever got our food (even faster than fast food drive through). Also the prices were reasonable for such large portions. Each of us had plenty of leftovers and at least two meals out of one. We also loved the drinks and boba there. Got there 15 mins later, but they said it would be an additional 30 mins til order would be ready (understandable since they recently opened, however they should update their online ordering system to reflect the correct time). My gf and I have been going around to try almost of the ramen joins on island and I usually get the same dish throughout every ramen restaurant and that one is the tonkatsu miso bowl! Presentation was good! The broth was soooo good compared to other ramen restaurants. Flavorful! On top of that they have happy hour from 2pm-5pm where you get free gyozas with your order and let me tell you, their gyozas are soooooo good. The gyozas alone are a 10/5 starts. Their filling is so delicious compared to other restaurants! Only con is that they add too much wakame seaweed. It over powered the taste of the broth towards the end. But over all, good restaurant!
