Food was amazing! We had amazing service. We had the takoyaki for starters. Kids had the mini ramens , wife had the black garlic tonkatsu and I had the aji ramen. I must say the flavors were great all around and the bowl of Aji was humongous in a good way. I usually finish my ramen but it was so big. As mentioned our server was very nice and accommodating. All of my kids said it was the best ramen on the island and moving forward we will have to eat here as part of our new tradition. Highly recommend read more

Hidden gem alert in Waipahu Shopping Center Aji Ramen! I only found it thanks to a Yelp post, and wow, I'm glad I did. The Black Garlic Tan Tan broth was crazy smooth and clean. Flavorful without being heavy. I literally polished the whole bowl. Noodles? Perfect. Garnishes? On point. Add the egg -- trust me Sides: Shrimp Tempura hit the usual comfort spot. This is our 3rd time here and it has gotten so much tastier and a lot more selections. Always so friendly and super nice! Nice, cool and cozy. Had the mini combo ramen with additional cost but not broke the bank, changed the sauce to the black garlic ton ton, came with 4 pcs fluffy homemade crispy juicy gyoza and selection was the savory soft beef stew and rice. Wow! All of that for a great price! Also, mapo tofu ramen that was huge and popcorn chicken on the side. Aji Ramen 2.0 New ownership, but still excellent service! We were sad to miss the previous owners before their last day. They mentioned to us that they were transferring ownership, but on their last week of service, the business was shut down - I'm assuming - due to the crazy weather and loss of electricity. We loved that family. They were so generous and welcoming! I hope they are prosperous and happy throughout their next adventure! :) Thankfully, this new crew who took over hold the same spirit! We've been in 4 times since, and the staff has been consistently friendly, welcoming, and very attentive. Everything moves quickly & smoothly, so we remain impressed with Aji Ramen. The service is fast & efficient from start to finish without feeling rushed, even during peak hours. Major plus! The restaurant itself is still clean, well-kept, and nicely organized in the front of the house, which makes the whole experience even more comfortable. The food comes out fresh, hot, and really delicious - definitely comforting food at a great price point. What more could you ask for? :) One small tip: bring a jacket! It's pretty chilly inside. This is perfect if you're enjoying a hot bowl of noodles, but for those who aren't or who run cold, you might be shivering. Haha Oh and their free dessert is so addicting! Stopped in a few times this past month here both individually and with family and have learned that the owners have since changed. The service and great food here have not though which I am happy to see! Ambiance is the same as well ! Their ramen is very flavorful and the service is fast and friendly. My wife and I were craving some ramen and my wife had heard about Aji Ramen. If I am correct, it recently replaced another ramen shop that was here previously or maybe it was a simple re-branding. Nonetheless, Waipahu Shopping Center is as "local" as it gets. We stopped by here during the middle of the week. There was only other couple eating dinner while we were there. Small quaint place, but what they lack in size, they make up with good food and great service. I came in and got the chicken katsu curry and Aji special ramen. The chicken was crispy and juicy and the curry over rice hit the spot. The broth of the ramen flavorful, the aji ramen does come spicy though, I believe you can ask them to not make it spicy. Noodle was prepared as you order and not clump up. At the end they gave us complimentary shaved ice for dessert, this was also good. Will come back again to try something else next time. read more

So the good...the food. This is a much better ramen place than the previous restaurant at the same location. We thought the price was reasonable for the quality and amount (seemed on the smaller side). The vegetables were fresh and good (which normally doesn't stand out for me). The bad...service was just not good. Young waitress really just copped attitude. I've eaten at hole in the walls and expensive ramen shops. If I had a choice between this and Ramen Ya, I'd go to Ramen Ya even though their quality is slightly below Aji. I'll try again after some time and update my review. read more

Ordered a mini ramen and a milk tea and my friend ordered their mini curry rice and a smoothie, first off the portions were HUGE. Great place! We came here for a meal with the family, and the atmosphere was welcoming and perfect for a group. The highlight of the night was definitely the Tan Tan Ramen. The broth was rich and had just the right amount of spice to give it a kick without being overwhelming. To top off an already great experience, they surprised us with free dessert at the end of our meal! Important note to start this review. As there is no bathroom. It's inside the store next door, unfortunately making this hard for a single parent. Or someone coming with children. Be mindful when picking this location an use the facility next door before getting a table. The menu has something for everyone. The small ramen is not really that small though. We still had so much food. For $40 we had more than enough for myself and my 10 year old son. Service was wonderful and the space is quaint and relaxing. The egg drop soup was so yummy. My son enjoyed his ramen and he chose not to have the pork, he asked for it plan. We asked for fried rice with no veggies but it came with bean sprouts and cabbage. He was not impressed and we brought it home for the less picky brothers he has. He didn't have any room left to eat more anyways. The show stopper for me was the side of chicken katsu curry. It was delicious. The chicken was perfectly coated and fried and the curry sauce was really good. The gyoza was lightly fried. The inside pork mix was okay. A bit crunchier insides than I prefer with extra ginger and cabbage and green onions? I'm not sure. My son thought they were okay too. The ponzu sauce was not a favorite. I preferred just soy sauce. Lunch in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii... I saw a review by my friend, Deborah, of this Hot New Business called Aji Ramen and I had to visit... Located at Waipahu Town Center, Aji Ramen took the place of Umi Ramen. It's right next to Potato Corner, which is between Seafood City and Goodwill. There's lots of free, shared parking... even though Starbucks is in one corner of the property, and Longs is at the other end. When I stepped inside, the air-conditioning was very much appreciated. I truly enjoyed the iced water - it had fresh lemon flavor in it! I also noticed the cute decor... the banner across the wall was kawaii! The peppy music included familiar songs from BTS! I ordered the Combo A set. It had Ramen, gyoza, and a side. I chose Chicken Katsu Curry for my side. It was too much food because they gave me 4 extra delicious gyoza for Happy Hour (2pm to 5pm). The nice manager brought me takeout containers and a package, and helped me pack my food! The server was also very cheerful and greeted me right away! I wish this new business much success! I asked our server if she was the owner, and she said that she was part owner. I ordered the Aji ramen. Wow, it was big. While she was bringing it to the table, I saw the large size bowl. What I didn't expect was that it was filled with goodies. The broth was a little disappointed appointing. Overall, it was worth the price. Located at the Waipahu Town Center, between Seafood City, Longs and Goodwill, I looked at my trusty yelp for any ramen restaurants I haven't gone to yet, and found Aji Ramen listed, but with only one review. I tried Umi Restaurant once last year, so decided to try this restaurant again with new ownership and add another review. The ramen has flavorful broth, but better than before, and the menu had the same choices. Black Garlic Ramen Tonkatsu - 5 stars - for $14.95, I was going to order it, but since my son wanted to eat it too, he gave me some to try. Broth is great with a black sesame taste to it. Comes with a full egg cut in half and thinly sliced pork. I would order this again because other ramen restaurants' black sesame broths I've tried were watery, that I couldn't taste it, but this restaurant makes it wonderfully tasty. Mabo Tofu Ramen - 5 stars - for $14.25, it said spicy on the menu, so I asked for mild, and they said they can make it mild with a tinge of spice. Given a mild mabo tofu, this ramen was very flavorful. The broth is soupy, but not too salty or watery tasting at all. I like the fresh ground pork they add to it as well, but the tofu wasn't as fresh as I had in other places. Their Mabo tofu ramen beats all other ramen restaurants except for Taiyo, which unfortunately closed. Both ramens and gyoza arrived steaming hot, so we had to wait for it to cool and soak in the flavorful broth. Gyoza - 5 stars - My son and I are particular about gyoza, and Aji has hand-made ones that satisfied both of us. FIlled with chopped up ground pork and water chestnuts, it didn't taste processed nor oily. Service - 5 stars - lemon water is filled, and cold. Very friendly and thankful to have you eat at their restaurant. It had a banner stating that grand opening is going to be soon, so I guess we were at their restaurant during their soft opening. Looks like a lot of people are trying them out since they were pretty busy with local folks coming and going. No surcharge when using a credit card is a plus. Lots of parking since it is in the Waipahu Town Center, but they still have no bathrooms in their restaurant, so if you need to use the bathroom, you still need to walk to Seafood City. This place has become my go to place for really good food and awesome customer service. The food here is always consistently tasty and made well. If you compare the prices here to other restaurants, you'll see that Aji is very affordable too. You'll also see that their portions are very generous considering inflation is hitting every restaurant everywhere. What also keeps us coming back is the excellent customer service. Decided to try a ramen place in Waipahu and I am glad I did! I ordered a ramen and 3 appetizers to share. Location: located in seafood city plaza, there is ample parking and pretty easy to get to. They are located close to the grocery store so you can't miss it! Service: the two women working that day were very friendly, full of smiles, and checked in on us while we were eating. There was even a customer issue and they handled that very well. We were impressed by how they put the customer first and handled the situation. Ambiance: the restaurant is clean and cold, most likely because you are eating ramen. We didn't get there during a busy hour, so we were able to choose our seats. Food: overall the food was good. There was only one item I thought was too salty, but the description was on point to what they served, so it's a personal preference. 1. Black Garlic Tonkatsu - the noodles were prepared very well. Not soggy or undercooked. The soup was well balanced and they had a lot of items included (bamboo shoots, meat, garlic, seaweed, egg, etc). I feel like the egg was the true star of the ramen because it was cooked perfectly, still a little runny, and was seasoned! 2. Fried Ika - well seasoned, not oily on its own. It was fried well and you can tell they don't use old oil because the food was crisp and hot! 3. Takoyaki - I wish there was a but more tako inside, but compare to other places that serve this, I can't complain. Again, cooked hot to serve, good size and portion, lots of bonito flakes, and the dough was seasoned and tasty. 4. Fried pork belly - personally, I think the sauce on this makes it way too salty, but my husband didn't mind. I think the pork belly on its own would have been great. It came on two sticks and was cooked really well. The pork belly had a good amount of meat on them and since they are bite size skewers, they were very easy to eat. If I order this again, I'm going to see if they can out the sauce on the side. 5. Sesame ball - they gave this to us as a bonus and I'm so glad they did. With all of the salty food we were eating, this was a nice way to end the meal. They had a decent amount of azuki paste inside and again they must have cooked it recently because it wasn't too oily like other places and thr mochi was still moist. This place is awesome. First time going here and was pleasantly surprised. Went on a Saturday afternoon and got good parking near by. Restaurant was clean and our server was very friendly. Ordered two combination specials as well as a tonkotsu ramen. Food came out fast and I didn't realize the combination came with not just ramen and gyoza, but I got chicken curry with rice.
