This place is a diamond in the rough. Rolls are huge! You definitely get your moneys worth. Think what menus used to be before inflation. The salad was delicious, every roll we ordered was great, the shoshito peppers were tasty and zesty, and the tuna rice was good too. The service was wonderful, from the nice touch with the cucumber and lemon on each water, to friendly service, and helpful suggestions. I'd come back! The place was large in the back, with a cute little display for the holidays. Just such a nice homey feel.

We came upon Raiz by accident and dropped in. The restaurant ambiance is calm with soft music overhead. The restaurant is clean and there are tables in the front and back. I ordered the yaki udon and it was pretty good. The miso soup was also very good along with the spicy edamame. My spouse enjoyed his sashimi plate. I don't normally take off more than a star for service but this was pretty bad. The servers are really not attentive and we had to ask where our edamame and miso was that we ordered as an appetizer. The server went to get it from the back and it was certainly done. The food was really good and we may return contingent on the service improving. The lack of service was confusing because they were well staffed and it wasn't busy.

Super impressed with my take out experience and they have a great patio space. Unique menu items, great flavors, and the prices were modest.

Food Ambiance service Made a reservation for my family of 6, 2 adults and 4 kids. It was my kiddos 15 birthday and requested sushi on a Thursday at 5pm. Wanted to try something new and we drove by and literally never paid attention to it. Looked it up and it looked delish, he asked to take the risk and try it and it was AMAZING! Our table was in the back room. We had it to ourselves and everything was top notch. We had the pleasure of being there while it was happy hour which saves $1-3 dollars of some of their menus items. Took advantage of that and got 4 items off that. Everything was so tasty! My kids devoured their meals. Only kid item off the kids menu we had was the cheese sticks which 10/10 amazing idea to have on there. Two non sushi eaters had the bento boxes and delish they were! The rest of us had sushi. Size, presentation, and taste were impeccable! I can't believe this place doesn't have a wait or hard time getting a reservation cause it was top notch. They provided us a complimentary dessert, bread pudding . My son said " this is best thing i've ever had!" thank you for the great experience, we will be back!

Like a lot of people, the fact that Raiz offers Italian AND Japanese food threw me off, but I came for a girl group for sushi in November of 2022 and the experience was wonderful - not crowded on a Friday late evening, intimate atmosphere in the back with the bar, service a little slow but kind, and some great food! Being a group, we ordered simple rolls and Shrimp Yakisoba, as well as specialty rolls to share: The unique-and-a-bit-too-spicy-for-me-personally River Beast and Zesty Islander (I'm weak to spiciness); Black Monster, The Anne, and the lovely Pink Flower; And my personal favorite - the Ocean Vinaigrette. I'm a sucker for anything with Ponzu on it (give me citrusy-salty *any day*, and I could have happily eaten the whole Ocean Vinaigrette with its "tart, refreshing blueberry ponzu vinaigrette" on top and come back for more. SOLD. Overall, it's great place for groups, Japanese cuisine (with unique rolls and flavor combinations) and drinks (hello Sapporo and Kirin!) as well as its intimate atmosphere.

New favorite sushi place! What a hidden gem. The patio is so cute and perfect for outdoor dining. All our sushi was excellent, as was the service. We will definitely be back!

What do you do when they run out of camarón at Chingon? You pull an audible and give a sushi place you haven't tried before a go. And if you're like me and you love a little jalapeño and cilantro with your rice and tuna then you get incredibly lucky and find a place that just happens to have what you consider to be ideal maki. These rolls were absolutely delicious. Not going to lie, I was pretty skeptical when I saw that their menu had burgers and pastas too but when I started reading the descriptions of the maki I knew I had to at least give them a shot and man oh man am I glad that I did. Looking forward to ordering from here again.

Came here after a concert and was a nice surprise! Indoor and outdoor seating where you can choose your ambiance. I saw many others chose the medusa roll so I had to try it and I was not disappointed! The bento box also came with a lot of food. Service was good as well with our server being very attentive and giving recommendations to us.

One of my favorite sushi places in Chicago! My absolute favorites are the sushi rolls, noodles and garlic edamame, and for dessert the bread pudding. During the warm weather months, they have an outdoor patio. The service is great and it shows they take pride in what they do. I highly recommend this place with its many menu options.

This place is a true hidden gem. We stumbled upon this place on our way to another restaurant in our neighborhood. 10000% RECOMMEND. It's such a lovely place - the sushi is 10/10 and the service is immaculate. The ambiance is clean, Romantic for a date yet casual enough to grab lunch/dinner with friends and family. Their menu is diverse and you can tell the owners and staff put love into this business. They have a back patio for those warmer days and the back of the restaurant is beautiful. Picture worthy from the food to the ambiance- love love love it here. I cannot wait to come back and try the Ramen and pasta dishes.

This place is pretty solid. You can tell all the ingredients are super fresh and I love how they plate the food. Taste wise I'd give it a 7.5/10. It's good but not mind blowing or something I'd ever crave to have again. The best thing we had was the chili edamame appetizer.

Candidly it wasn't on my to-do, but the restaurant happened to be on my route back to my hotel and I hadn't had dinner yet. I walked into the restaurant, and there was a spot open right at the bar waiting for me. I think it was meant to be. Loved the vibe of the restaurant, which was casual but trendy. Best part of all was the music. My ears perked up when I heard Hieroglyphics - The Who... A Plus Remix. Instantly felt "at home" with the underground, old school hip hop. Compliments to their curated Pandora playlist. I ordered the the spicy scallop roll, super san roll, and sawara (Spanish mackerel) nigiri. The spicy scallop roll was my favorite. The super san roll was a mix of their toro with varying fattiness. I appreciated that you could order half rolls at Sushi-San, which came out to 5 pieces instead of 10. This was more than enough food for me. The sawara was buttery and fresh. If you don't like the "fishiness" of saba, you'll enjoy sawara. Lastly, overall customer service was great. The food came out incredibly fast. The bartender who assisted me was awesome. He was attentive and personable.

I came with a friend for lunch during the week and they have a somewhat decent lunch special (for today's standards when factoring the cost of living and inflation). We took advantage of that and ordered the 3 combo platter per person so we got 6 total items since there was two of us. The highlights for us were three yellowtail yuzu sushi as well as the salmon rice bowl. The miso soup that came out first wasn't that great. It was overly salty. My friend who is from Japan that I ate with said this place was ok for American standards but not at all great compared to anything in Japan lol.

It clearly is for all their locations. Unfortunately, here at Chinatown's location, when they attempted to scan the card, the staff said it does not work and only works at the Printer's Row location. I ended up calling the Printer's Row location and had the team talk to the manager at the Chinatown location, and the manager at the Chinatown location kept their stance that it does not work, stating Printer's Row location does not know why the gift card does not work at the Chinatown location, and will not make any exceptions to accepting the gift card. Thankfully at the Printer's Row location, they are stating it's due to their system being new as they are a new location, and reason why the gift card is not working at all the locations yet which they are now working on to fix so it does not happen to any other customer moving forward. I just wish the Chinatown location showed some compassion to address the issue and still accommodate the inconvenience instead of us having to go back to the Printer's Row location to use the gift card Price: Approximately $20, not including tip for 2 people. There are lunch specials! Ambience: Indoor Seating Overall: Worst experience, especially to follow up my birthday celebration

My only critique is the pacing. Since the chef already had the fish sliced and prepped, I expected a smoother flow, but the meal took about an hour and a half for 14 pieces of sushi. It felt a bit slow, especially for a lunch service. That said, if you're looking for a reasonably priced omakase with quality fish, this is a solid choice.

Then we were taken back to our table for dinner. Our server was super friendly as well. Started with the miso soup and crispy tuna bites which were probably my favorite dishes. The taki yoki fritters weren't bad either. We saw people getting omakase, so we ordered a yummy looking piece they were receiving. It was just okay (chutoro truffle). The nigiri was also okay. The tuna piece was the only I really loved. The fish quality wasn't as high as I was expecting. The sushi was decent. A little too much truffle in the spicy blue fin tuna and a little too vegetable forward in the hamachi serrano. All in all, the atmosphere and amazing service pushed this up to a 4 for me.
