Ooof, the experience started stressful. We had reservations at 8:15pm and we weren't seated until 8:40ishh (we weren't the only people in this situation, there was a line blocking the door) We finally got seated and waited about 20mins before our order was taking for drinks and food (they did bring us water). I understand they were busy but I was already over it. The food came out quickly right after the order was taking. The skewers were good, we tried the alligator and squid. The sushi was okay, wouldn't recommend it there's other places in the city that has way better sushi. We also had ramen which was really good!! We arrived around 8:45-9pm. It was Oktoberfest outside and we wandered in for the first time. Ambiance was clean, quiet, low lighting. It really helped the headache I was nursing. Uni Oyster shooters 4 stars. Flavorful! Crab uni maki. 4 stars. Tasted good. Ramen. We both ate. I give 4 stars. To start, I've made it almost a mission to try as much sushi as I can in this city and I've tried most places. This place is ranked one of the best, in my opinion. This place has got to have one of the best sushi happy hour deals in the city. Get here before 6pm and your rolls are HALF off, as well as $7 martinis. We started with a round of the Kyoto Lime, which was recommended by the waiter. For $7 a pop you can't really beat it. There were so many maki options and they were all so cheap that we ended up getting five rolls when the plan was three. No regrets, they were each delicious and different. Had a great time at Miku. The staff was nice and attentive. We made reservations because we weren't sure how busy it would get. They seated us right away without any problems. The Maki and happy hour is half off of you place the order before 6pm. Can't beat that for cheaper food and drinks. The Maki we order were all picked at random except for the 1 that was recommended by the waiter. All the maki's were very good. The stand outs were Momo Maki was a table favorite and the Robusta was different and had a nice crunch to it. The Hangover and Flaming Dragon were the choice of my friends. The skewers we ordered were the scallops, alligator and ribeye. The alligator was a bit tough but seasoned well with plenty of ginger flavor. The ribeye nicely cooked, can't really go wrong with ribeye unless you over cook it. The scallops were nice and wrapped in bacon. As someone who has had struggled with the Chicago sushi scene (outside of high-priced options), I very much enjoyed Miku. We had ramen and three rolls- all of which were quite tasty, fresh, and well prepared. The service was very good / accommodating and led us to order the correct portion of food to share between two people. They were also very accommodating of a shellfish allergy. The bites of the specialty rolls were rich but the flavors just kinda got lost (again maybe due to the rice quality). The one highlight was the samurai because the apple and lettuce brightened the flavors to balance out the fish/rice quality. All in all, I think sushi for me is one of those foods that quality is really important, but this is a great option if you're not that picky and looking for large volume at low prices. What I'd do differently next time is ask the servers what their favorite rolls are bc I'm sure they have better insight into which rolls (like the samurai) might highlight what Miku makes particularly well. read more

If I could I would give this spot zero stars. We have never been here before and pass it by every week so we decided to give it a shot. Before 6 the makis are half off so I thought hey let's try 4. First the waitress had some kind of attitude towards us and no idea why. Maybe because we brought our kid? No idea. But we tried to ignore it and just enjoy dinner. We left a majority of it on the plates and paid our check and left. The quality of the fish was poor, the combinations were just disgusting. Some of the fish looked old and gray and I was scared to eat it. I would not eat here if you paid me. No idea how this place can be 4 stars on here. Even the wasabi looked old - almost like they reused whatever someone left... What a shame. All you are doing is paying for sitting in a patio in the summer in Lincoln. But so many better spots. Wish there was better sushi in the area. Not asking for anything fancy - just something I feel like I won't get food poisoning from. Not worth it. Also every time we have walked by people sitting eating sushi it always looked bad. Love this place and the happy hour specials. Martinis are $6 between the hours of 4pm and 6pm every day! The maki rolls are also half off during these hours as well. The maki rolls range from traditional (like spicy tuna) to innovative. It seems a lot of the maki rolls use sweet soy drizzle (may be a bit much if all your rolls had drizzle), but there are a quite a number that don't. We've also had some of the appetizers as well as the ramen. The spicy ramen is really good and perfect for cold winter evenings like now. Service is attentive and top notch. We came one time around 5:50 pm and were anxious to order. We ordered right around 6pm and the server rushed to the time clock to at least get our order "started" so we could take advantage of the happy hour. Thank you! read more

They have half price makis which to me meant Buy one get one free!! Anyway, we also had the Geisha and the Sushi Surfur VZ martinis which was good BUT NOT FOR $12 each. BEWARE, if you order the martini BEFORE 4:00 PM, you will be charge the full price. Food Poisoning: Changed review to 0 stars!: Please read review and accompanying health inspection link/reports from the City of Chicago Heath inspector. NOBODY should be eating here. So my wife and I have been going to this place for a number of years without incident and returned at least once a month for some pretty good sushi, but on my most recent visit to pick up a quick meal, we both immediately knew something was off. We carried out. We had ordered 4 different rolls for the two of us this round. Out of two containers the first seemed OK but the fish was not looking fresh and shiny, but dried out, indicating something was off. Popped the first piece into our mouths and something was DEFINITELY off. Fish was warm and certainly not fresh. 2nd roll seemed OK. 2nd package opened was a spicy tuna roll which I usually order every time I frequent this place. The tuna seemed dry and stale. Popped it into my mouth and it was completely rotten and smelled awful. This is where the story gets good: My wife called the restaurant and spoke to one of the women there who identified herself as the manager, unfortunately I didn't get her name. Her lack of empathy was astounding as when I described the fish quality her comment was; "It's fish. Fish smells fishy." I then let her know I spent many years in the food service industry and let her know fish should NEVER smell fishy. The attitude was beyond anything I've ever experienced in this industry. No apology, and she refused to give a refund but then offered a 15% discount on the next order, which we refused. Why would I go back to the place that offered clearly rotting food to the clientele?! The story goes on: Let's say my wife and I had a very "interesting" evening a couple of hours after eating the food, running to the bathroom with nausea and explosive diarrhea. So let's say we were not happy with this outcome. Since we are both busy people we could not immediately address the situation so about 10 days later I went to the place in person to show the manager the picture of the fish and tell her the results of her poor food handling and again to ask for a refund. She again never apologized, walked away to look at my order history, then came back and said "we don't issue refunds and we already offered you a 15% discount". I said I'd like to speak with the owner and was told he was not in. I then asked her to have him call me or my wife to our phone number they have in our file. The next person called my wife identified himself as Mr. Stan Lee or Stanley. He too stated it's "against policy" to issue refunds and proceeded to belittle my wife. I must say, if I would have seen him in person talking to my wife that way, he would be quickly laid out on the ground. First, she was trying to explain that it wasn't about the money, but the way it was handled and the food poisoning. He kept talking over her repeatedly. I'll paraphrase here but he said this has happened in the past and he has insurance to cover any food poisoning (WHAT?!) so this has OBVIOUSLY happened in the past. He also threatened to deny any poor reviews that we give him (good luck pal!). In addition, he accused my wife of lying since we told him we got sick a few hours after eating, he said "couldn't be food poisoning since that would happen days later". Really? Not a very bright nor accurate statement Mr. Lee. I called my bank and immediately filed a dispute with the credit card company who refunded our money and took it back from the restaurant. So much for the no refund policy! Next, I contacted the Heath inspector for the City of Chicago who called me back within hours. She then led me to the web link which is at the end of this review and she also let me know there have been multiple complaints over the years with multiple violations and she actually asked me "Did they offer to give you a 15% discount?" So apparently she is pretty familiar with this place and let me know (and you can see below the violations and multiple health inspection "fails" over the years) that with this place, it's best to not argue and just contact the Health Inspector. Long story, but the ending here is they FAILED their health inspection on 4/24/23 and again on 5/2/23 likely due to me reporting them. The restaurant today has a sign out front that says "We are closed for Maintenance". So it looks like the Health department shut them down. Here is link to the report including them finding "Over 200 rodent droppings". So, Mr. Stan Lee, maybe you need a little education from the health department and from me on how to handle these situations better. A little kindness and empathy and taking responsibility would be a great lesson for you, but with repeat health department fails, you should likely NOT be in business.
