I wanted to explore some of the apple Hill Farms and this spot was on the list. Have been here once previously, and there isn't a whole lot to it, they have pies and merchandise to buy such as jams and jellies and produce, but it's not quite as expensive as BOA Vista. However, we stopped here again and had their famous donuts which were amazing and I have to say actually better than Boa Vista. We also had their fresh corn dogs and those were yummy as well. Although personal preference I would've liked the corn part a little more crispy but definitely will return for the donuts and if they ever have any specials, wouldn't mind trying their pies. The staff there is very friendly and knowledgeable. I think they have more events here for our families because there's a very large space with maybe a stage for music and lots of seating plus it's beautiful around the area with the fall trees. read more

Made a trip out here because rainbow orchards is one of my favorite farmers market booths! It was so nice to visit their barn and enjoy many apple cider donuts along with some of their hot cider! This was my first stop of the day at Apple Hill, and honestly it was a bit of a disappointment. They're advertised as dog friendly, but even though the ordering area is outside-ish, dogs aren't allowed. I got around this by leaving my dog in the car while I ordered and waited for my food, but that was only an option because it was still early. It got hot even in late September, and it wouldn't have been safe midday. I was super excited to try their fresh apple cider donuts. They're made to order and come warm out of the fryer. It's hard to complain about a fresh donut, and it certainly wasn't bad! But honestly, I enjoyed the High Hill donuts a lot more. I also got a jug of cold cider to enjoy later. It was perfectly fine. On the plus side, they have real bathrooms (much appreciated) and a large, shaded picnic area. I assume that dogs are allowed there! read more

3.5 stars, but rounding up to 4. Recently did a scenic fall trip up to Apple Hill and shortlisted 4 or 5 orchards to visit. Rainbow Orchards made the list as it seemed to be THE place to try a freshly baked (er, fried?) apple donut. The venue has a large building where you can purchase apples, ciders, and also order food. We snagged a few apple donuts ($2 each) and a bottle of hard cider ($11.80). There were plenty of picnic tables outside in one main central area - some were covered and some were not. It was a great way to spend an hour or two relaxing and admiring the fall colors and having some snacks to boot. The donut was decent, but it did fall short of my expectations after all the rave reviews. It had a light cake-like texture with a dusting of sugar. I believe they're made to order, so at least it came out fresh which seemed to be the main differentiating factor vs regular donuts? I don't know how the donuts at other orchards compare, but I also felt it was a bit small (~3") as I assumed it would be the size of a standard donut. I conservatively took small bites to stretch that $2 further, haha. The cider was also OK - the cashier gave me a heads up that their ciders are more European style and not as carbonated. It was probably a notch above flat, but I didn't mind and sipped away. For photo ops, there are a few defunct tractors that you can actually climb up and sit on. While the hard cider and donuts weren't memorable (at least for me)...the venue is a terrific spot to relax and have a small picnic. I'd come back. read more

Got their donut, apple cream cheese tart, and apple juice! Their donuts was delish! It was warm, sweet, and just the right around of crisp. Their apple cream cheese tart also good. It reminded me of a mini cheese cake. The apple juice on the other hand didn't amaze me that much. Parking was relatively easy and there's lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the donuts and pies. We came a couple days before Thanksgiving for cider donuts and a gallon of cider. The donuts were hands down the best cider donuts I've ever had in my life. They are made fresh to order and you can ask for them not to be rolled in sugar if you want things less sweet. I recommend eating on site as they are best fresh fresh fresh. The cider is pressed on site and is unpasteurized. Drink within a few days as it quickly starts to get "tingly." We thought it was perfect with our Thanksgiving dinner. read more

We had such a fun time picking blueberries here! The staff were also so kind and helpful. The taste of these fresh picked berries is indescribable. My toddler has always refused blueberries from the store, but couldn't get enough of these! Recommended to try while at Apple Hill farms for their hot link corn dogs. Sounded pretty interesting so we decided to give them a try. Overall to me the hotlink corn dog was just ok, but I like a certain type of hotlink that's cooked to a certain point. And this just tasted more like a somewhat spicy hot dog. While here we also got a half gallon of their cider which was really delicious. Not ordered by us but by other people while we were there. This time we got to take my parents for their first visit, and no one let disappointed. You can smell the freshly fried apple cider donuts before you even enter the parking lot. The aroma hits you right in the face when you open the door and lures you right into line like the smell of pie in a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Wait in that line and you'll be greatly rewarded. Get more than you think you'll need because after one bite, you'll be wondering how the donuts kept going until they're gone. We also picked up a half gallon of cider. Yes. It's sweet. But it's made from apples from apple hill! It's a must. It's also the perfect drink to wash down those donuts. There's a big beautiful and we'll shaded picnic area here. The farm stand offers some solid corn dogs and other savory stuff, but we like to pack a picnic, eat lunch and let the kids run around and burn off the sugar before we bounce to the next stop! Gosh. I was really disappointed with my experience at Rainbow Orchards. When I went to pick up my food, I was asked to show my ticket, which I thought was fair - until I noticed that others weren't being asked to do the same. It felt unfair and uncomfortable, and I couldn't help but wonder why I was singled out. This experience left a sour note on what should have been a fun visit. I hope they work on treating all their customers with the same respect and consistency. As far as the food is concerned: The apple cider donuts were good, as well as the apple crisp. The cider was so good, we bought some togo along with a 2 bags of apples. I wasn't a huge fan of the blueberry & blackberry tart. It just wasn't as good as the apple baked goods. Would I go back: Unfortunately not. The lady who calls out the numbers (very loudly and impatiently) isn't friendly, and I didn't appreciate being singled-out. As for the blueberry apple hard cider, GROSS! I took a couple of drinks and I had to stop. I ended up tossing the rest. I never toss booze but this was the exception. Pretty good place. We were there during the week, but you could tell that there is a lot of outdoor seating and a place for a stage and walk up bars which were cool. It'd be a different experience over the weekend. I tried the apple donut which came fresh out of the fryer, was small and dense, and had sugar sprinkled on top. It was OK. Glad I got it, but probably wouldn't do it again. You can walk around the orchard a bit and explore too. Service was fine. The lady I ordered the donut from was friendly to me but not the customer in front of me-- no real warmth or hospitality. Seemed like she either didn't want to be at work or was somewhat grumpy. My kid & I visited here last October during weekday afternoon because not many orchards opened during weekday. The place was kinda hidden on a small road. There were still lots of people but it wasn't crowded. I went straight to the barn to order some yummy food. They also sold pumpkins & other things inside the barn. After we got our food, we went to the back with chairs & table to enjoy it. Everything was made fresh & the food was still warm when we got them. - donuts: good while they were warm. Not too sweet and fluffy (not too dense). However, I couldn't really taste apple cider in it - apple cider: delicious & refreshing. Not too sweet and not watered down - corn dog: good but nothing special. My kid said he liked it & finished it fast. - apple crumble: just ok. lots of apple but not much crumble. I like my apple crumble to have very intense cinnamony flavor but it was just lacking. My kid was kinda disappointed that we couldn't pick the apple & they didn't sell any apple on the premises. My favorite Apple Farm! We went here last weekend and its still the tradition to come here for our first stop. I believe they open at 9am. So we leave at 7:30am so that we can get there right when they open. Yep thats right. It's that serious. Theres a line people. I know. You know. We all know. And if you don't know, now you know. Get there when they open. The highlight is obviously the Apple Cider Donuts. Possibly the best donuts in Apple Hill(possibly ever...?) I really like that they aren't super super sweet. They are sweet but its never too much. Also. Corndogs dog. I know it might sound weird that early in the morning but we always get one now with our donuts. Cider is pretty bomb too. We came here to try the hot fresh apple cider donuts, and we were not disappointed, they were very good. We also got a jar of Apple Butter, but we haven't cracked it open yet. The only thing that lost them a star was the completely ridiculous path to the restroom. If you have any mobility issues, drive around to the lot before the exit if you need to use the loo. It's a bit of a haul from the store. And there's a set of switch backs for a "ramp", which is possibly wide enough to turn a wheelchair on, but unfortunately, is also the only path for everyone else, so it's gonna be a project to get up and down it with any sort of walker or mobility device. After that there's a slope to walk about 1/4 mile-ish to get to the bathrooms. So definitely save the pit stop for last and park up near them on your way out. The line was long for the donuts, but it moved pretty fast while we were there. read more

This was such a wonderful little getaway that was recommended by friends! It's part of Apple Hill and this place is known for their Apple cider and fresh, made to order, apple cider donuts! They serve pies and jams and other things as well but we came here for the donuts! They were so fresh and warm and crispy on the outside. There is definitely that apple taste in these donuts and to pair it with an apple cider was amazing! Would definitely recommend! We did come late September though, so the leaves havent changed colors yet but I heard the sweet spot really is in October/early November! On the 2nd to last day of February, they debuted a table at the Saturday Ferry Farmers Market. Being a newbie, they were given a location on the south side of the south driveway across from the Wise Sons stand. Having good experiences with recent new market vendors, I stopped here midway through my shopping just to see what they sold. Well, just one look and I was buying something. With only two current growers with apples, a bag of Fuji apples was an automatic. When I got home and settled down to try one, I noticed two things: a. the skin was not heavily waxed and b. the crunch on it was ridonkulous...yes, so good I forgot how to spell. Ridiculous... When I sucked the juice from the meat, it reminded me of those apple juice bottles from Watsonville, yes, that sweet. They had another variety of apples available but, being a mission shopper, I only bought Fuji's. A week later, I replenished my Fuji supply and then some; I asked about the pink lady and learned it isn't my cup of apple. At the foot of table, I saw a sign and bottles of apple cider. I brought one quart home and will try it later this week. Will be shopping here next Saturday and likely until Fuji's go out of season. I dont know if Rainbow is open all year long but I do know that the customer service has always been great, the apple cider is always cold tasty and refreshing and the donuts are just the best! If you come to Apple hill this is one of the lil spots you for sure have to check out. The donuts are made fresh to order and you'll always get them hot. Wit the whole covid thing the lines are way bigger but the line does move fast. They sell jelly's and preserves the preserves I've had and they are exceptional! They also sell apples and other fruits depending what time of the season it is. They have bathrooms and a huge sitting area that has a very happy vibe to it. Im sure you will like it. My only complaint I have is that the donuts are a lil small. I will say they might be small but they pack a big punch of flavor. Load up on donuts and take some home they are always good the next day still. Hands down this is one of my favorite spots to stop by when coming up here. They are warm as you receive them and you MUST eat them as soon as you can, they are heaven with a hole in the middle! Eat when hot on the benches out front or on your way to the benches out back! No apple flavor in the donuts themselves, but I had an apple cider alongside. And I went back for a second donut. Beyond the donuts, cider, corndogs, and other fresh food the served In the farm building aka bakeshop, they also sell pre-packaged jams, many types of wine, 1 hard cider, and an assortment of apples. Unfortunately they're only selling the apples in large quantities, not per apple, due to the pandemic. Time for me to weigh in: is this the best Apple cider donut? Well, they make them to order and hand them to you piping hot. If you resist the urge to eat it immediately, you'll be able to taste the pie spice in this delicious, moist cake. BEST donuts and coffee we had in Apple Hill! In fact, they were the ONLY WARM donuts we encountered during our visit, and we stopped at three other farms! My family and I visited this farm with my dog and we absolutely loved it! PERFECT spot for a picnic and larger groups. The outdoor seating is very spacious and picturesque. Bathrooms are in a small building, which is a nice relief from the porta-potties at other Apple Hill locations. Lots of parking! Dogs are not allowed in the barn where you purchase food, so someone will need to stay with them outside while you shop. read more

Hand down the best apple cider donuts! Hot and fresh and worth the wait. Usually rainbow orchard is going to be crowded so go early or try and go during the week if you want to avoid crowds. Don't go here for the pies. They're not fresh. They microwave them up in styrofoam (which isn't safe). Really disappointing. Styrofoam aside I go to these farms for fresh stuff not re-heated food. read more
