These reviews are so hit or miss - I wonder if it's the nail tech you get. Mine was great, she was really sweet and I gave her a good tip. However, I didn't like how busy it was and I feel like because they're so busy, you get lost in the shuffle. They'll leave you alone for a while. Forget what nail polish you chose. So I had an apt @3pm I sat their until about 3:45pm and watched 3 or 4 ppl go right ahead of me which was aggravating. When I did get into the chair I was there for an hour and a half and although the man that did them was very attentive and I thought did them well but it's the next day and one of my nails is already starting to come off. I spent $100 on my nails which I thought was a little much considering the fill is supposed to cost $25 and the artwork that was done doesn't really look that good for the time spent on them. I really wanted to write a good review but after seeing that my nail on the middle finger doesn't have enough acrylic so it's starting to bubble underneath it's really hard to do that. read more

I came here for years, but i switched to a new salon about 6 months ago because the best nail technician up and left with no warning. The place is nice inside, roomy and comfortable. The service can be very hit or miss, and from what I see, they have had a lot of turn over in the last year. I would suggest to find someone you like, and get their name for manicure services, and I would suggest booking an appt with them. My friends and I have had some poor experiences in the past when get appointed to a new, unfamiliar nail technician. I like coming here for Cindy to do my eyebrows. I also still come here for pedicures. There is always a coupon in the local papers for $5 of a luxury pedicure. Usually, the pedicures form everyone is pretty good, as long as its not crowded. My pedicure was a full hour for $30. I chose the Royal Spa Pedicure with hot stone massage. It was worth it. They do not really check up on you after they drop you at the dryer though. I sat for at least 15-20 minutes before i left and I still managed to mess up my pedicure after. I wish they were a little more helpful there. read more

First time there and not impressed. Went for pedicure and the water was like warm. Then the nail tech dropped the cuticle clipper on the floor, picked it up and began to proceed clipping my cuticles without even attempting to clean it or getting a new clipper. When I refused to allow him to continue with the now infected nail tool he pretended to clean it off and I asked him to get a new one. The service was lackluster. I am a regular for acrylic fills, last few times my nails would split and break in the middle of my finger doing the most fragile thing (etc pulling a chair out, hugging a friend.) I go in for a repair two days after a new fill and they gave me a hard time telling me it was because my nails are old.... Last time I check with a fill you reassure the apex of the nail so the acrylic is stronger. They charged me 10$. Two whole days later it happens again on the nails that they repaired, plus two more just from trying to fold laundry. I go in again and they give me such a hard time about how it is old nails. They aren't old. They did them, do they not have pride in their work? I never leave bad reviews as I can understand accidents can happen, but this is absolutely ridiculous. Today I went to rainbow with my mother to get a pedicure. I typically receive a decent pedicure but today's was so poorly done I needed to share it. The woman who did my pedicure rushed through, cut my nails too short, and just did a sloppy job all around. She didn't even put lotion on my feet after removing them from the water. She got clear nail polish all over my toes. I am very displeased to say the least. This will be my last time going to Rainbow. I've never had a worse experience. I only went here because I was in a wedding and at a crunch for time. My normal nail salon was slammed and couldn't get me in so I decided to give rainbow a try (use to go here in the past) I was quickly reminded why I stopped going there. The girl who did my anc nails was rude and aggressive. My nails were a disgusting mess. Any thing I asked for she said that's 5 more dollars. They were thick, shaped unevenly, and my nails under were splitting from the anc. I ended up texting my normal nail lady( US nails on western) who took me as an emergency right after the rehearsal dinner for the wedding the next day. If you get "Johnny", do yourself a favor and ask for someone else; he was so rough with my cuticles to the point that one would not stop bleeding and a huge chunk of skin is now missing (see picture). On a prior visit, "Lily" rushed through it that I felt like I was inconveniencing her. I was happy to try someone else, but "Johnny", aka Freddy Krueger, did a number on me. Make an appointment with "Kiki" if you decide to go. She did my manicure once and didn't hack me to death. One positive is a mani/pedi is only $35, but you get what you pay for. I would give 0 stars if I could. I'm not sure how this place is still in business. I got a Gel manicure and it peeled within the same day. I went back to the nail salon the next day because they were already closed and I told them to remove it and do rrgular polish instead. They suggested ANC (which I have never gotten done) saying it would last longer and didnt tell me it would be an additional charge until after the service. Gel and ANC are the same cost and again, they suggested it so I was under the impression that they would fix their mistake but I was wrong. Gel should last a week minimum but they clearly use old/poor quality products. I asked them to remove the ANC nails (which turned out very lumpy and uneven anyways) and provide me a refund but they refused and forced me to pay. So basically, I paid $30 + a $10 tip for the first low quality Gel nails, and an additional $30 for the ANC the next day. Horrible customer service, and the nails are just poor quality. The nail techs are inexperienced and offer services that they dont even know how to do correctly. Will never return. read more

I was recommended by my hair dresser to rainbow nails , new to Albany I went for a manicure and pedicure the nail polish came off in one week while on vacation, I came back the next week when I returned the lady told me French manicure don't last I walked out she told me if it came off you should come back the same week but I was on vacation, well I tried them again I went and got gel on my feet and my hands it last for four weeks which was good and no complaints the next time I went for a manicure /pedicure That was on July 10th because I was going away July 14 on July 13 my nail polish started to chip I got the gel on my hand and the polish on my feet the lady was polishing my hand with the gel polish which was supposed to match my feet and I noticed that the glitter in the polish was not there that I had chosen when she finish I asked her where is the glitter that was supposed to be in the polish she asked the man next to her they talked and she said the gel polish did not have the glitter in the polish " she said the polish is not good" so they let me choose something else which she polished right over the two coats of the first polish and 2 coats of the other polish could be to much and could make the polish chip and from July 10th to the 14th is only 4 days I return on the 19th that's makes it 9 days they only wanted to fix 2 nails but if a person come in with a problem you should help the customer she tells me that my nails grew out but what about the chipping on my nails that did happen first so the color on my feet and color on my hand should be the same but they are not because the gel did not have the glitter in it I didn't realize that my nails looks like Christmas until I got home I think that you're more concerned about getting the money from the people that you don't want the customer to be satisfy the customers if the customer say that the polish came off then you should fix it I came on July 10 and July 13 the polish came off when I came back I let them know about it and you didn't want to satisfy me I will never come back again the problem started because of your nail polish not because my nails grew out read more

If i could give zero stars I would. Im not a review writer but since I'm awake at 1am because both my fingers and toes physically hurt, I am now. I've been going to this nail salon off and on for years and the work is just completely inconsistent. I went in with longish natural nails and asked for a slight trim only to have my nails cut and over filed, in attempt to keep the almond shape, to the point that the sides are tender. same with my toes which are naturally square filed shapeless down to where the nail attaches. There was no discomfort during the processes of filing for me to notice it was too much but afterward the discomfort has set in and it is painful to put pressure on the sides of my fingers. The predicate just looks horrible there are gaps where there is nail and no polish. The manicure doesn't look to bad however that fact that my fingers hurt is hard to ignore. That was $90 I could have spent getting good quality work. I will not be returning here again. read more

I would say I had just an 'ok' experience here when visiting last week. I have been holding onto a gift certificate for about a year now and just haven't had time to go in for any kind of pampering service. When I walked in the doors, I was surprised by how busy it was considering it was 2pm. Almost every nail and pedicure chair was full, as well as the waiting area. The decor wasn't anything overly frilly or inviting at all. The clientele mostly looked miserable and were dressed in everything from shower caps to pajamas. Just not what I was expecting. The gift certificate I had was for $20 and specifically written on it was 'happy feet', which is a 40 minute foot massage that I have experienced at another local salon. Upon walking in, I let them know that I had that, and they told me there would probably be a 20 minute wait for it. Being that the service would take a long time also, I really didn't feel like hanging around to wait. So, I asked if I could use the gift certificate on another service, and ended up just getting a pedicure. I opted for the hot stone pedicure, and the tech who did it for me did an ok job. The nail painting looked nice, but I wish she spent more time massaging my legs and feet and making it a more relaxing experience. I also had a lot of dry skin around my heels that should have taken longer to tend to. I felt a bit rushed after the entire experience. A huge positive that I noticed immediately when I walked in, was that Jenny, who was a nail tech at the nail salon I usually go to who hasn't been there in ages, works here! I had been wondering where she went since she was great at her work. If I ever need to get a full set of acrylics done in the future, she will be the only reason I will return to do so. I usually don't go to Rainbow Nail Spa for mani/pedis, but their massage services are wonderful! The masseuses are polite, accommodating and thorough. For example, with my hour massage, hot stones were used. However, they were a little too hot for my liking, and, when I said so, the masseuse was more than happy to cool them down a little and checked back in when she used them again. An hour massage will cost you $60, but it's totally worth it to leave feeling like a whole new person!!! read more

A big ole pile of mehh is sufficient to describe my experience here. This was the only place close by that did silk wrap so my choices were limited. First, the prices are outrageous. It was $35 for a fill in...i paid $40 for the original set in NYC. I considered getting a pedicure but that was $25! For a plain, regular pedicure!?! The young lady doing my fill in was nice enough but she was super super slow. Now that wouldn't be a problem (and can be a plus in certain circumstances) but for the fact that my nail polish was bumpy and started chipping after 3 days! I truly think he was sloppy with the top coat because he thought I was not going to tip him when i put my wallet away after paying. He made a point to stare at me doing it and then immediately shout to the woman at the counter who made the change. My wife and I did the "Happy Feet" first, and it is basically reflexology, which is awesome. They massage your face and head, then your neck and upper back, then arms and hands. They finish it off with a foot/lower leg massage and hot stone massage. Best part, it's only 20 bucks! We did the pedicure next, and the chairs are some of the best I have ever been in. The massage chair is nice, and the water jets for your feet are very good. The staff are all professional, and the girl who did happy feet for me also did my pedicure. They are all concerned about making sure you feel comfortable and enjoy your time. Great pedicure! The manicure came next, and it was great! The mani pedi is quick without being fast or rushed, and they are very good. I will most certainly be coming back! They have a hair salon as well, so I will review that next time. read more

I decided to try someplace new since I received a $20 coupon for a pedicure in the mail. Upon arrival I was rushed into a seat after selecting a color. The technician was friendly and asked how my day was going. The water was so cold I had to ask to add hot water- which she only added for 5 seconds. She was on FaceTime the entire duration of my pedicure, which made me feel uncomfortable as they were watching my pedicure. The picture below is my foot 15 minutes after the pedicure. I've divorced this place after being a client for a few years. I have had bad experiences with nail salons before but the last time I went was so awful that I would be embarrassed to go back. The girl that normally does my nails, Cindy, was not there so I settled with a man whose name I don't know. He'd done my nails once before in a similar situation and did my nails just OK, but not nearly as bad as this past time. He didn't do anything to prep my nails before buffing and filing them for my acrylic application. When cutting them, they were all different sizes, and when I asked to have him even them out, he just cut them really short. When he was filing my acrylics, they ended up all different sizes. He seemed rushed but the whole thing took about two and a half hours. Three of my acrylics fell off or broke within two days so I went back to have them fixed. When he was finished the two that he did were oval, not coffin shaped like the rest. I was really unhappy but I was at the point that I couldn't deal with being there and then all but two fell off or broke within the next week after that. I'm definitely not going back unless it is with Cindy and that's only if my new nail salon can't be in. She's very talented and it's a real shame that she's in the mix with a lot of untalented nail technicians. read more

I feel bad about giving this place only one star because my mani pedi experience was great. Johnny was attentive and took his time. However, the place itself was dirty. If you looked around, you could see the garbage was overflowing, sink drain was clogged, the tools were not all in barbicide. (That should have been a major red flag but I noticed too late). Worst of all, one of the employees was sitting next to me with a HACKING cough. And she was not covering her mouth. I don't get it. She was sitting there coughing her lungs out while playing on her phone. No one was telling her to cover her mouth or anything. I think they got the hint when I gave her several obvious stares, so she put a mask on but continued coughing, making NO move to even try and cover up her cough. The place wasn't busy either, she was just on her phone, so I don't understand why she couldn't have gone home or at least into another room. On top of that, AS SHE WAS COUGHING, she started cutting up and folding the paper towels customers use. If I get the flu next week, I'll know where it started. All in all - gross. I received a gel manicure and gel pedicure. I got white gel and no design, although I did ask for a design on one of my nails. It appeared as though the person who was doing my nails forgot I wanted a design so I didn't remind her. Upon leaving the nail salon, I noticed how poorly my nails were done. As you can see from the pictures below, there were bubbles on my nails and not properly filled in. My toes also had these bubbles, which just shows me that the person who did my nails she may not have had much practice doing gel. My nail tech was actually very nice and I did tip her well, I'm just disappointed by my nail outcome. I paid $70 for a regular gel manicure and pedicure, and they had to remove the gel polish off my nails. I thought it was pretty pricey for not great quality nails. I am overall disappointed by how my nails turned out and now I have to spend more money to get them redone. read more

I've been there twice in the last month. Once for a full spa pedicure and then for a 45 minute happy feet massage. Both were fantastic!! My pedi was the longest with the best leg massage I have ever had. She did a great job on my feet as well. She used 4 hot stones on each leg too. The happy feet massage was very tranquil, relaxing, and so worth the $25 The face massage was very relaxing and done wonderfully. I waited 5 minutes before I was seated for the pedi and 3 minutes before I was escorted into the massage area. Both times the shop was full of women getting their nails done and pedi's as well. I even told her that hurts can't i just soak? and she said no it takes too long. So she continued hurting my nail and huffing when it wasn't working getting them off .. 20 mins later she throws everything on the counter and calls the manager over and says I need to soak because it's not coming off so they tell me to get in the pedicure chair and soak my nails off. Well the massage chair was never turned on so i tried to turn it on and she told me it was broken, there was clearly other chairs open so why couldn't I use one that worked?! Also my friend was getting her nails done while my feet were being done when we came to relax together and have a chat but they refused to do our pedis together for some reason. My nails were being filed down while my pedi was being done which was super annoying. The lady filing my nails kept cutting my skin and filed too much and basically filed my real nail all the way down to the skin it burned so bad. Pedi was good but the paint job not so much. My nails were done and it took him about an hour to do everything before even painting my nails which was ridiculous especially with the way the shape came out. The two people massaging me and my friend were talking the whole time and one was even burping the entire length of the massage !! I got there at 10 AM and did not leave until almost 1. I got a basic pedicure and ANC on my nails. The pedicure was garbage. The woman doing it could not care less about me and did not even say hi. She cut my nails diagonal and the polish is already chipping off of almost all of my toes which never happens. Not worth $25. When it came time for my ANC, I had 3 different people touch my nails to get my gel off. When the girl was doing my nails I asked if she could do french ombre. I was willing to pay more. She asked her coworker and she said "Yes, but it will be different." So... you can't. Just say that. She drilled my nails so thin that they look like they're falling off. Also I was charged $5 to take my nails off, $5 for tips, and $5 for the "coffin" shape which isn't even coffin. I asked for tapered square... which I got... which is NOT coffin. I was too exhausted to say something after that experience. My nails have been holding up but I will not be returning. The place looks nice on the inside but its miserable. read more
