I had a pleasant experience at Rainbow Donuts (West Covina). I ordered the Sugar Donut ($2). YUM! It's fluffy, sugary, and thick. (IMPORTANT: Bring Cash. There's a 4% added fee on all card transactions.) I arrived at Rainbow Donuts (West Covina) on a weekend. Parking is EASY. The lot is very BIG. Staff is very businesslike, terse, and no-nonsense. The Staff member reminded me of that Seinfeld episode with the owner that cooked amazing soup. Staff quipped, "That All!?" when I asked for one donut, but I didn't mind too much the clipped response. As mentioned, I ordered the Sugar Donut ($2). It felt fluffier and a little bigger than other donuts. It's very tasty and fresh. I enjoyed each soft, sugary, & fluffy bite. On ambiance, Rainbow Donuts (West Covina) is very comfortable. The location is fairly clean with several tables. And the place felt chilly with a fresh airy ventilation. Everything looked very organized and well-maintained. Overall, I had a good time at Rainbow Donuts (West Covina). Staff is not the most friendly, but everything else is pretty good. It's a good choice. 4.7 out of 5 read more

Solid choice for donuts. Consistent, great selection, tastes good. Haven't had a bad experience here. Overall donut rating - 6.5/10 read more

I came here and loved their doughnuts sooo much! But lately, they haven't had doughnuts. I like about 10min away and it's sooo disappointing to arrive and they have nothing! I called today because I wanted a doughnut and the owner couldn't understand me.. so she put me on the phone with someone else who also couldn't understand me. So I am not going out of my way to arrive and find it the way the picture I loaded is. Back then I'd be able to go at 9/10pm and be able to get whatever doughnut I want. I'm sorry, as much as I love the doughnuts here, I can't come when there's nothing in stock to get! I had to drive to Krispy Kreme and to be honest the doughnuts at rainbow are way better than Krispy Kreme but I'm taking myself and my business elsewhere now. read more

Rainbow Donuts - Little to no selection. Why are you open 24/7 if your not going to make anymore doughnuts? - Bakeries Near Me - West Covina, California

I think this place is under new ownership. It's remodeled for a while now and I never see the usual lady there anymore. There's new menu screen inside but the layout is the same as it was before. I ordered 2 glazed donuts and paid with a credit card. There was a $1 charge for using a credit card. It wasn't posted anywhere but the man who rung me up did tell me prior to sliding my card. I said it was fine since he already had my donuts ready but that's so annoying to have a $1 charge on such a low purchase. I literally could walk next door to Dunkin's and have no fees. It feels like I'm being nickeled and dimed when I choose to support a small business over the chain. At the very least the donut was soft and delicious. read more

The best apple fritters. I don't like apple-forward fritters so these are perfect for me. They're perfectly fried with a delicious glaze. My mom doesn't eat donuts but she's always looking for these. My best friend has never tried an apple fritter and now she's hooked after having these. She's been going to other donut shops but she says that none are as good as the ones here. The workers are also nice. The watermelon shakes are also nice sweet and refreshing. read more

We rolled into Rainbow Donuts looking for a little snack and left questioning why we didn't show up earlier today (more choices in the morning). Our 3rd time here. The selection was slim (hey, it was late!), but what they lacked in variety they made up for in donut real estate!! These things were the size of your regrets after skipping breakfast!! My daughter went rogue w a raspberry twist, and I dove into a maple glazed masterpiece. Sweet, glorious donut bliss!! These donuts were still fresh & delish!! Would we go back? We always do!! But next time, I'm setting an alarm... those beauties probably fly off the shelves faster than I can ask for extra napkins. read more

Please support local businesses! The food service and ambience is amazing and I wanna make them very clear before I dive into the details. Rainbow Donuts in West Covina is the kind of place that makes you feel like home the second you walk in. The donuts are always fresh, no matter the hour, which is why this shop has become a true local favorite. I've been coming here my whole life and it never disappoints. One of my favorite details is that I can still find my grandparents here every single week. They're proof that Rainbow Donuts isn't just a donut shop, it's a family tradition and a part of our community. It's rare to see a business that connects generations like this. The vibe inside gives off a comforting old school feel, the kind that makes you feel like you're stepping into a piece of history. No frills, no gimmicks, just the smell of fresh donuts and coffee and the sight of locals coming through the door at all hours of the day. Of course, Dunkin' Donuts set up nearby, but Rainbow has something no chain can copy. It has that small mom and pop heart, that smile from the owner who remembers you after a few visits, that special feeling you only get from a neighborhood spot that's been loved for decades. Parking right in front is limited, only a couple of spots, but that doesn't bother me one bit. There's a lot across the street and if I have to cross for a fresh glazed or a chocolate bar, I'll happily do it. Plus, they recently added a Tesla charger nearby so it's the perfect excuse to plug in and pick up a dozen. Rainbow Donuts isn't just donuts either. They sell lottery tickets, snacks, and other food, making it a little one stop shop when you need a quick bite or just want to test your luck while sipping coffee. It's the kind of variety that keeps people coming back. Another thing I appreciate is how safe it feels. The shop sits on a busy street, but the entrance to the lot is simple and secure. You don't see people loitering or any uncomfortable crowds, which makes those late night donut runs feel easy and relaxed. As for the donuts themselves, the pricing is more than fair. In a time where everything seems to get more expensive, it feels good to walk out with a full box without spending a fortune. You get that unbeatable combination of quality and value. For me, this place is wrapped up in memories. I've been here more than fifty times, growing up in West Covina, and every visit feels like a little piece of my story. Whether it's late night snacks with friends or Saturday mornings with family, Rainbow has always been there. So if you're in West Covina and debating between a chain or something real, do yourself a favor and stop here. Rainbow Donuts is fresh, consistent, welcoming, and absolutely a gem in this city. Try it once and you'll understand why people like me and my grandparents keep coming back. read more

Donuts are not good at all I was really disappointed since the reviews were so good. There's not much to say other than the donuts were old, and place looks like a dump. read more

Stopped by here on Friday morning as I was craving donuts and also heard that the owner is going to retire soon. Got one blueberry glazed cake donut and a tiger tail. The donuts are huge and most importantly it's fresh. I like the blueberry glazed cake donut more than the tiger tail. The blueberry glazed cake donut was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside .. it had the perfect crunch to it. The tiger tail was soft as well and there were also some crunchy bits in the chocolate parts.. not sure what it is but I feel like the other ones I've had didn't have the crunch bits in it so maybe this one is a special variety. Inside there are a few tables where you can sit and enjoy your food. This place also serves coffee and drinks and Sing is very nice and polite. I can tell there are some regulars here as I saw them just spending time there :) read more

This is the second time I've been back to Rainbow Donuts after the change of ownership. Since the change I noticed the donuts are not the same as before. The donuts used to be fresh but now they are not. I would expect donuts to be fresh in the morning but the donuts I ordered were old. I ordered an Apple Fritter and there was hardly any apple on them. In total I ordered 7 large donuts and I used to get them in a box. Now the donuts were placed in sleeves and I had to request a bag to carry them. I will definitely not be back. This place is no longer what it used to be. I guess all good things must come to an end. read more

Wow best blue berry donut I've ever had! This place exceeded my expectations. You can see the fluffiness and gluten development in the coconut donut. Plus I was given an extra glaze donut for free. Super great service. It's open 24/7 and I would definitely come here again. You can tell there's a good following because there's a lot of pictures of happy customers all over the restaurant. I also like how there's several lottery winners at this location. I'll go here when I want to play the lottery. This donut shop is clean and has plenty of parking. With several chairs and tables inside. read more

I think Rainbow Donuts deserves a 5 star rating, I'm disappointed to see that they are not receiving the full praise they deserve. They have been here for years and are still standing strong. Each time I've been here it was the same lady helping me and she is always very sweet and helpful. Yesterday I ordered a donut for my boyfriend and if you don't know, their donuts are huge!! You definitely get what you are paying for and from the times I have gotten their donuts, they were extremely delicious. I also really like their ham and cheese crossiants & recommend their apple fritter, my dad's favorite. I ordered a coffee because the lady asked if I wanted a drink and I wanted to support them even more, so I caved in and got a Vanilla Iced Coffee. I don't handle whole milk too well & I'm not sure if they have other milk options, but if they don't that would be helpful to add. Inside it is nothing too crazy, but it is definitely a spot where you can grab something on the go which is helpful! It's not too big inside but I usually see people enjoying their order at their store. It's nice to see how supportive everyone is and I am happy to say that I am a loyal fan of Rainbow :) read more

Great place and the doughnuts were very fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed the quality.

Rainbow donuts has been a West Covina staple for over 20 years! My mom used to bring me here when I was a kid when we first moved to the area. I'm 35 now and continue to visit Rainbow donuts for their Chocolate chip rolls. I'm also a huge fan of their ham, cheese and jalapeño croissants. They are the best! The service here is always great! Sing is always so nice. She treat everyone like a friend, and neighbor. The donuts are huge, cakey and full of chewy goodness. You get your money's worth here. Whenever they've added something new, she always let's us know and encourages us to try it. On some occasions has even slipped an extra donut for us when she really wants us to taste it. She is really so kind and generous. Their latest addition is the cronut, and my goodness it was heavenly. I truly believe their donuts are 2nd to none. I've purchased them for some of my clients and everyone has agreed that they're delicious. I am and will be a lifelong customer of Sing. I absolutely will not get donuts from anywhere else. They are worth it, and I encourage everyone to try them and support Sing and Rainbow Donuts! read more

I support small businesses as often as possible and this donut shop is no exception. This shop has been around for many, many years. That is why it was not cool when the, "other donut shop/chain" opened up one business away. I am and many others do not want to see this place fail so we support it by buying our donuts and coffee here several times per week. Donuts are always fresh and very tasting, owner is so friendly and appreciative of each customer and prices are very affordable. Rainbow Donuts in West Covina is a fine donut shop. Dropped in for some dessert after having dinner at the Taco Bell nearby. I was greeted by the nice young woman who was working that evening. They still had a nice selection of donuts that evening I visited. Don't know if they bake throughout the day or not. Was kind of worried that the donuts would be stale. No need to worry because the donut I ate tasted fresh and delicious. I bought myself one of those large bear claws with apple filling. Unfortunately, my "go to" donut was already sold out. I usually tend to purchase a Boston Crème donut whenever I patronize a donut shop for the very first time. I ate my apple bear claw at one of their available tables. As I sat enjoying my yummy treat a couple of other groups of folks came in. They all seemed to be regulars, and the young lady assisting them treated them great also. Overall, it was an A+ experience! Excellent customer service, yummy donut, clean establishment, and fair prices. Nothing to complain about here. read more

Truly fantastic iced coffee and fabulous customer service with a big smile We had just had lunch at Jolly Bee and I wanted a Vietnamese iced coffee for my drive home to the IE. Found this place on Yelp. It's kooky that it's next door to Dunkin. The gentleman at the counter was nothing but cordial, and made my iced coffee fresh. It was served in a large styrofoam cup for $4.50. It is made from hot coffee, which was a new experience for me as I'm used to the product being already chilled. Anyway, it was perfect. He mixed it to his specifications-- the way he thought it should be-- and his method was definitely the right way. Inside, there are many things on the wall, including bible scripture. Their chairs are super vintage. And they sell more than coffee and doughnuts. A pleasant experience. read more

The owner of this place is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. For a friends birthday my mom went to pick up two dozen donuts for me to bring to him. service: not sure.. the owner was nice however when I saw a fly on the donuts he immediately shook the donut tray to make it fly away as if the fly was not there.. health and safety: not really hygienic.. there was a fly on the donut.. who knows if there are more? would you crave for it? this is honestly my first time coming here and I'm not impressed with how there was a huge fly on the donut. was a bit grossed out so I didn't have a chance to try any of the donuts. 3 stars is a bit harsh, but I do think whether a restaurant/food shop is hygienic or not is extremely important. tips for improvement: i personally think that they should've thrown the donut away, however it was left there for the next person who buys it :/ I also think that the donuts shelves should have a slide door to keep the donuts away from bugs. read more
