Good donuts--not overly oily like some places. Have called ahead night before or day of for a dozen mixed donuts, and they have it ready at the agreed time. Pricing is under $18, which is uncommon these days. They do charge a little extra for credit card (80 cents, but not a big deal for a dozen). There are usually a couple other customers when I pick up Sunday early mornings. Plaza is a little older-looking, with the appearance of loitering people on the opposite end by 7Eleven. Yeah the Asian lady with the dumb pink over sized hat was mean!!! here's the thing, they charge $.80 for Apple Pay when the donuts at $1.50. She said "the banks charge. I don't know sir". Rainbow Donuts is just super good. It is located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. It is right near Knott's Berry Farm and Pirates' Dinner Adventure. The area itself is safe and the strip mall area clean. The service here is very nice and they have a great selection of donuts and other things. All of the donuts were fresh and really good. They also have lines of lottery/scratcher machines against the wall if you like those. If you win, just make sure you get the right amount from them. We don't play, but while we were there another customer did, won, and had to remind the cashier to give him the full winnings. We really liked this place and will be back for more donuts and maybe a sandwich. read more

LOTTERY SCAMMERS! Beware!! I'm not one to easily give out 1 star reviews but in the past 2 months, the store clerk gave me the wrong amount 3 times!!! If it was just once I would have let it go. The first time they gave me $54 when it should have been $64. When I asked are you sure? She was like oops I thought it was a 5 and not a 6. The second time it was $20 and they said I won $10 and they said oops again I forgot to scan the second ticket. And just today they made the same mistake. Three times in the past two months it's not just an accident if it truly is an accident and they've been noticing that they should always double check. When I finally got help I asked which donuts are fresh and he said all of them. Well that was a LIE because when I told him, I thought the donuts were fresh this one taste stale. He said if you want fresh ones come back after 4am. So I asked to give me my money back and he refused too until he knew I knew my health inspection protocols. The lady was super rude. I asked the price of something because I couldn't see it on the menu or hear her brought her mask and plastic dividers. She yelled at me and say "the price is right there". She was very snappy, short tempered and just nasty rude. On top of her terrible customer service skills the donuts sucked! They were all very dry and stale like they were old donuts or something. Craved donuts one night, specifically m&m blueberry but the line was too long, even for m&m standards and I was not prepared to wait for an hour or more at 1am. She made sure I was able to add enough cream and sugar to each cup before she put covers on the coffee. I decided to get the half dozen special they offer on donuts for $5.25 as well. The donuts are nice and fluffy but more importantly they're not too sweet! They hit the spot for an early morning pick-me-up and I was in my way. They will give you 2 free donuts if you buy a dozen in the evening which is pretty nice of them. The streets were empty at 1:30 am on this Wednesday morning. I turned into the parking lot and checked for sketchy types, none were to be found. I approached the deceivingly friendly looking Rainbow Donuts. One customer bent over his coffee at one dinky table. I look at the donut selection, and see the supposed treats staring back at me. One ominous looking specimen is mottled and dotted with blue flecks. I order one of these and the staple and yardstick for all good donut shops: the glazed. The despondent looking employee walks away from me and continues the cell phone conversation that was apparently on hold. The dingy, greasy-haired guy comes back eith my sack, plops it on the counter. He has a a filthy apron gives me a dull stare as I get out my money. I look down and notice all the filth on the counter. There are spots from coffee drips everywhere, like they have collected over the day. and things, little bits of stuff... dirt, crumbs, hair, little pieces of trash, clinging to some of the spots. There is a bug crawling on one of the donation jars they keep by the register. At the kitchen entrance, there is flour and crumbs and dirt everywhere on the floor, and everything looks grubby. Having paid, I walk away noticing it the scummy sidewalk filth just seems to flow right into the store, like no one ever grabs a hot rag and wipes down the counter and tables, no one ever mops the floor. I can only imagine the condition of their poking equipment, the age of the oil, and the personal hygiene & bathroom habits of however many persons work, unseen, in the kitchen. I drive away with my unusually heavy-for-two bag of donuts. I take a chunk out of the blueberry, for a second or two it tastes good, then I taste the artificialness of it, the way it is heavy with oil, and rather stale tasting. It seems wet, and suddenly very unappealing. I abandon it and try the glazed. It might have been fresh about 8 hours ago, but it was stiff, the glaze flaked off, and the dough part was stale and bland. I actually spit out the bite I took instead of swallowing. The only thing that would make these worse would be the oil soak that some places get from cooking at too low a temperature or with inappropriate oils for such temperatures, in old oil. Instant heartburn, and then these two donuts minus one bite each went into the trash. I'm too spoiled by Oh Those Donuts in Costa Mesa to give these people more than one star, and that one is due to their 24 hour status. read more

This review is only for the blueberry donuts they serve. I love that this place is always open, and it beats waiting in line for two hours for a dozen donuts from M&M's, but the donuts weren't fresh. They had the donuts sitting out, and simply heated them up and gave them to us. I've had my fair share of blueberry donuts, and they're supposed to have this crispiness and softness in the inside. When the donuts are nuked in the microwave, they lose that crisp outside, and then it's just mushy and easily broken. I'm glad I have the option of getting these infamous donuts so close to home, but I wish they would make them fresh for you. Oh, and the mariachi music playing inside seemed a little misplaced. They get a 3 because their dozen donuts costed me a buck more than the place down the street. I bought the same exact donuts for a higher price of $6.50. The donut shop is small, there are about 4 tables where you can sit. It's right on the corner of Beach Blvd., and Lincoln, so it's easy to get to. They said they had some special if you order 12 donuts, I didn't get whatever was supposed to be free. The service was quick, and the people were friendly enough. A chill little hole in the wall spot. I went here looking for a blueberry donut and I was finally able to try one. The one I had was nothing special. A little on the dry side and light on the glaze. Maybe because I went so late this was the reason why. I'll be back though to find out whether I got a bad batch or not. They do have ice cream here though. I was surprised to see all the different flavors they had and was quite surprised by the quality. They are more then generous with their servings and it is a really great price for the amount you get. Overall it wasn't the best nor the worst. Came here today and purchased 3 dozen doughnuts. While waiting for the ladies (who were all nice) to get them for me I saw a fly inside the doughnut cases by the croissants. I was told $29.85 (9.95/dz x3) even tho the board says $9/dz. no big deal. It's a business expense so I gave her my company cc. She didn't say anything. Swiped it. And next thing you know it's $31. She charged me extra for using my cc. It's not a big deal but at least tell your patrons.
