I have been dining at the Rainbow Diner since I was a small child. It has been a more frequent place for me and my friends for the past four years. I have always loved their food, decor, and service. Within the last two years they have slowly gone downhill.
One week ago a friend and I had gone there for lunch and waited a good hour or so(we ordered chicken fingers and a burger) for our food. They also weren't busy. While waiting for our food the people at the table next to us had a child that was roaming around the restaurant, throwing plates off of their table and breaking them, standing in the walk way between dining rooms kicking and punching in the air, and he almost hit two waiters in the legs and neither his mother nor the management did anything about it. As the people started to leave this women's child stood in the walkway once more directly making eye contact with my friend and I and started to spit on the floor. Once again the wait staff and management did nothing about it.
Four of my friends and I decided to go back last night for dinner, bad choice. They had been packed so I was expecting that we had to wait awhile for our food, but not an hour and 15 minutes. The waitress kept refilling everyone's drink besides my coffee after I had nicely asked her 3 times within an hour. She refilled my coffee as we got our check. At one point my friend had to ask repeatedly for a water refill. My friend had ordered banana pancakes. The last time she had ordered them they had banana slices on top not fried into the center of them. The bananas were slightly burnt and the inside of the pancakes practically were still liquid. I ordered a chicken cesar wrap with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes had obviously been made by a powdered mix and the bottom of the mashed potatoes were hard almost as if they had been stuck to the bottom of a pot. My chicken cesar wrap was terrible. The chicken was cold (defiantly not at the temperature it should be served at). The first half of my wrap, the bottom was drenched in dressing and the top had no dressing at all, the other half had no dressing on it whatsoever.
My other friend ordered something with a side of bacon and a side of toast which came out roughly 15 minutes after our actual food. When we questioned her about the banana pancakes she replied with "you need to request them to be made that way". My friend kindly told her she was not eating them and showed her it was barely cooked. To which she replied with an attitude "well I guess I'll take the pancakes off of your receipt then."
Upon receiving the check, even though she took off the banana pancakes, she charged us $7.65 for my friends add on of bacon. For those of you who don't know, when you order breakfast with bacon or a side of eggs, the TOTAL of that dish is supposed to be $7.65 not an extra $7.65. When we looked for the owner to tell him about our dilemma's he was no where to be found.
So to say the least, go to the rainbow diner at your own risk. Extra charges, long waits, incorrectly made dishes, and poor service may occur. read more
