Quite awhile ago stopped by for dinner and the food was really good with lots of tempting options. I always judge diners by their soup and the soup was top notch! Our meals were enjoyable at a reasonable price. And, then I just forgot to review the diner. But decided to return for breakfast today after a long Friday night. Coffee arrived promptly and was really decent coffee but the amazing part of my breakfast was how quickly the really wall prepared omelette was served. It was like in the blink of any eye and for many a promptly delivered breakfast meal is a real plus (I appreciated it!!!!). Although the waitress really didn't want to be bothered with me the rather short diner breakfast menu had the classics and that quickly prepared omelette was a tasty WESTERN. The homefries were really good ... actually they were great even without onions in them (Waitress never asked if I'd like onions and rushed away so I didn't ask but these potatoes didn't need onions.). Toast was toast and the jam/jelly selection was universally grape jelly with one orange marmalade. A very good breakfast and I wasn't here to make friends just to warm up ooops ok, so I didn't warm up but the coffee helped, and to do some work. Still worth the food if you're in the neighborhood!

One thing I noticed was an additional charge for sauces. I asked about it, and they explained that all their sauces are made in-house, which is why they charge $1 per sauce. Honestly, that makes sense when they're homemade. Now the star of the show for me was actually the drink. After looking over the menu a bit more, I decided to try the LA Metro coffee drink with almond milk. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but for $5.99, I have to say it was really good. Definitely something I'd order again. I also want to mention the customer service. The girl working at the counter was extremely nice -- probably some of the best customer service I've had in a while. She didn't rush anything, answered my questions, and was very professional and friendly. I asked about the specials, the cakes they offer, and even whether they were doing a St. Patrick's Day platter, which they are. Overall, it was a really good experience. We've been going to this place for a very long time and it's nothing if not dependable -- you are going to get decent food and quite a bit of it. The portions are crazy sometimes (order the pork chops and you get 3 of them!) but it's basic fare for the most part and well prepared. The waitstaff is a mixture of eager-to-please servers all the way down to surly and rude ones -- you just have to know the bad ones and then avoid them. We actually had one waiter drop a sandwich on my wife's lap and then ask if she wanted another one!!?! But the good ones far outweigh the bad ones. You can't beat the Rainbow for breakfast - the waffles are light and crisp, the pancakes are dense and the omelettes are full of whatever you ordered inside. As all diners, it is what it is and while you're unlikely to find lobster thermidor on the menu anytime soon, you can be sure that the menu is varied, basic and good! read more

This place is worse than ever before. Now the big mouth owner has his young son managing and working at register. After a terrible meal the other day it was sent back three times. The third time it's still did not come back cooked correctly so I picked at it and left it the majority of it alone. I expected the waitress would take it off the bill but she came back and said the manager told her no that we were to be charged. I would have to speak to the manager and he stated that I had enough to eat and then I was paying the entire bill at which point I said I am the customer and I am just satisfied and I've been coming here for several years long before you worked here. He kept demanding that we pay the entire bill after we told him that we were no longer going to be coming there he could care less read more

I stop at the rainbow everytime I visit my granddaughter in point pleasant. As far as diner food goes, I would say that they are a cut above the rest of the Diners in the area. I have gotten everything from the breakfast (which comes with unusually well seasoned potatoes) to the chicken francese. When you think about Diner food, the objective is really to deliver restaurant quality at a Diner price and give at least mildly good customer service. Well here they do exactly that, the service is always good and the dinner meals are comparable to any Italian restaurant in the area. The owner is racist 4 months ago I was there talking with my partner business and first we talk we said to the waiter we gonna order in 10 minutes because we waiting for 3 more people. One minute later the owner come from back side in front of everybody go out if you not order now go out like crazy and screaming at us I was so embarrassing for us I was in shock I can't believe is happening. I have eaten in restaurants all over America and abroad. Came for a meal with wife and daughter do yourself a favor and go get a hot dog at a 7--11. Not only was the Mac and cheese with fish cakes sent back the Oder and taste was unedible. Don't care about paying for food but to make mention of the horrible food and to be told oh well that's how it is doesn't work for me. I can say after traveling to the Diners this week in the area, that this place gives you more than a enough Food to eat. The portions are tremendous. I am not sure how they make money here. The host was unbelievably rude and not a friendly person. Food was less than par, quality was terrible. Even though they give you plenty of food, the taste of horrible and food is bland. Just finished throwing out my takeout order. One of the worst grilled chicken sandwiches ever. Looked and tasted like the meat was cooked last week then sat in a refrigerator until someone threw it in a microwave then on a roll. Also ordered a side of mashed potatoes that were equally terrible. If grilled chicken and mashed could be so awful, I can't imagine the owners even care what they serve their customers.
