As a regular I always enjoy the breakfast here, I even order breakfast for dinner at times when I'm on the mood for breakfast entrees. John the waiter is a great worker and always provides beyond customer service with great acknowledgement with providing amenities with professional hospitality service included. Also the other waitress as well, Thank you staff. Also made fresh within minutes after sending your order in. So while this wasn't our first choice we landed on it, let's get rid of the negatives first the biggest con is our waitress could've been a little nicer. Maybe a little bit older could've been tired just was a tad on the snippy side. Also, they weren't very big on substitutions and a lot of the food. They said they didn't have. Now we'll do some of the positives. The Caesar salad probably had some of the best croutons, but the dressing was a little spicy. The Philly cheesesteak and a wrap was actually pretty well though it's market on the menu as roast beef. I don't know why they need to fix. That was pretty good with the fries. Crispy could've been a little bit more crispy but overall pretty well. The cream of turkey soup just loved it anytime I can get it. I will. And my girlfriend wind up getting the stuffed shells and why she did ask for light sauce. She barely got any, which we then had to ask for a cup of sauce and it did come with a side of garlic bread, which we don't really ever see so that was pretty cool And taste overall wasn't too bad, a little undercooked. Second time bringing our Grandchildren for dinner. Tried to sit us in the corner away from the general public as if we had problems. The service was terrible and treated us as if we were a nuisance. Next time we'll try another diner. read more

Food is delicious and portions are generous- you can definitely split most dinners with another adult and not feel hungry. It is definitely a cut above other diners but it is a diner. Prices are great and servers are friendly. Establishment is clean. TV is on premises which is great if you're eating alone. Meals arrive promptly and if you're ordering takeout it's always ready to go upon your arrival. The one new rule that is disappointing is if you are eating in the diner and order a special that comes with dessert you can no longer take the dessert home for later - they won't let you. If you can't eat it there and then you lose it. Other than that I would recommend this establishment if you're looking for a typical diner experience that's a cut above the rest. read more

7 minutes and 42 seconds was all it took from time to order, to the plate being put on the table, on a Saturday morning. The food was exactly what was ordered and cooked perfectly. There are a few diners in the area, but Brick Diner is a stand-out. Fantastic coffee, for starters. The portions are generous, the food quality is great, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. The ambiance is also perfect- soft lighting, table, booth, and counter service is plentiful. The waitstaff is outstanding- no wait for coffee refills, very pleasant dispositions. The hostess was sweet but the waitress was a sour puss who swiped the syrup from the table as if she feared I was going to steal it, and the food was BAD BAD BAD. I only tipped as rent for the table. My husband ordered the "Musaka" if that is what you can call it. Contrary to his expectations, the dish served bore little resemblance to authentic Musaka. Instead of layers of eggplant, potato, and savory meat sauce, what he encountered were noodles--yes, noodles--in lieu of the essential eggplant component. This departure from tradition was a perplexing choice, to say the least. Furthermore, the absence of eggplant, a quintessential ingredient in Musaka, was glaringly obvious and detracted significantly from the dish's authenticity and flavor profile. My food was a hot opened face turkey sandwich , the turkey was chewy and fatty. Both sodas tasted weird and the diner had a musty smell. I hope the lady with curly hair who's upfront reads this...I was one of the last people in the diner at 10:10 pm on 12/26/24 if you have video WATCH IT..we came in and you had the room to the right already set like you were closing --we come there at the same time every Thursday and never has it been this way-you told us we had to order right away then another family came in and you told them the same thing and then proceeded to tell the cook thru the kitchen doors it's just a grill cheese--it's quick --just cook it..tell me how could someone wanna eat after that...then you proceeded to rush us and tell us it was because you didn't want to work a half hour overtime...really!!!! Never in my life . I hope the owner reads this ..and if your sign says 11 then you treat your customers like people till 11 and do your work after. I wanted to scream at you. Sunday morning, all around Toms River, New Jersey, is breakfast time. Every place was packed, many with over an hour wait time. The Brick Diner was busy, but found room for two people. Cloning hasn't been in the news lately, but diners have been cloned all over this part of New Jersey. They all look very similar, with almost identical menus. The chef must bounce from place to place, or he too is a clone, because all the food, at every diner, looks and tastes identical. It's a miracle! My Caesar salad tasted canned, even if that's impossible. The Brick Diner is huge and very impersonal. That's why it gets a lower score. read more

Stopped in the Brick Diner tonight as a 'last resort' quick food before everyone else closed. Had low expectations from previous experiences from long ago. Cancel Those Thoughts! Something has changed here. The food was Absolutely Delicious! Presentation was visually beautiful. I had the Greek Mousaka. It was perfect! And well done as I had asked. My girlfriend had the Grilled Chicken Deluxe. Another winner To top everything off, our server Jana was Excellent! And a Hoot to interact with! She gets 5 Stars all on her own! Soooo.... Nice to actually still have a diner around open late when everyone around here seems to close early. Came in here on a friday night around 9:30 and it was super slow but was the same as last visit here. The owner was very nice and the waitress was very nice. Food came out quickly and portions were a nice size for the price, tasted good too. They even let our kids pick a free giant cookie on the way out. Not sure why so many not nice reviews. Where do I begin? Between the subpar food and EMBARRASSING DISGRACEFUL HOSTESS I wouldn't recommend this place. A friend and I went for a quick lunch of soup and fries. Food was average, I mean it's soup can't really mess up flavored hot water. ANYWAY this is more about the service and how the employees are treated. While we were seated there was a mother and daughter at a nearby table who were looking around for their waitress. The hostess noticed and came over to see if they needed anything and the customers said they just wanted to have the coleslaw that came with their sandwiches. Well the hostess then went to the kitchen and started screaming at this poor waitress for not bringing the coleslaw..... ITS COLESLAW. Well just wait because this is the kicker. The hostess then decides to sit and have her own meal (must have worked up an appetite after belittling her employee) and another waitress took her spot at the hostess stand. The one waitress asked the hostess what happened and in front of the only 4 customers they had she started bad mouthing her employee to another employee calling her disgusting profanities that I can't even type. Everyone in the restaurant heard this, she was so loud I'm sure Helen Keller heard her. It was actually embarrassing on her part and extremely distasteful. Another trip here. Dinner? No, just noshin. London broil (medium) with Feta cheese in a roll. The atmosphere is stark and so selfish, yes, selfish. Diners, with their copious menus, floor me. They all have the same feel, blah... no flare. And this one is no exception. I can see one of the owners walking toward the back kitchen with a wad of $ in his hand for all to see. Crass. Why did I come here, you might ask? The food is acceptable to me, when in the vicinity and late in the evening. The servers are all in black and seem friendly but not too observant. I ordered the stuffed cabbage, cup of split pea soup and had strawberry shortcake. The pea soup had so much cornstarch that there wasn't much flavor and no good croutons; just the plain. I don't quite understand why I didn't like the stuff cabbage, but it had a buttery taste. I have no idea why or how. Strawberry shortcake was typical diner quality. I am giving it a 2 because the waitress was friendly and efficient. The food came out fast. It really was just the food that really turned me off. I got disco fries from the Brick Diner tonight, one of my all time favorite guilty foods. Here I am, as happy as a clam and what do I see in the gravy? A fly. Okay, it's gross but it happens. I called the Brick Diner and got the owner. I told him what I found... dead silence, so I asked if I should get the refund through him or DoorDash. He tells me to contact DoorDash then proceeds to tell me "I don't have flies in my gravy" and hangs up on me. You better believe I took my new gravy fly friend straight to the diner and showed the owner. He flicked it around with his finger, looks up at me while he's nodding and shrugging his shoulders in agreement that it truly is a fly (wings, feet, and all). HE DIDNT EVEN APOLOGIZE. This is a typical New Jersey Diner in the tradition of 1980's vintage Greek diners. I have been coming here with my family for many years. The dining room is not fancy and food is not gourmet but everything served is made of fresh quality ingredients. The help is very attentive and hard working with pleasant attitudes and respect for the patrons. The owners may appear a little stiff but are actually caring and generous to the regulars and new patrons as well. The portions are very generous and you can never finish a dinner special. My favorites are the Italian salad, paninis great burgers and they make the best soups. This is the best diner in the area by far. service was quite strange and cold. the overall ambiance was uncomfortable and dingy. i got a greek wrap with french fries and coleslaw and my gf got an omelette with home fries. the wrap was sad - soggy and flavorless. the fries were great - probably the only redeeming thing from the entire experience. didn't receive my coleslaw... the omelette was way over cooked and dry. the home fries had were very very dry and flavorless - no spice, seasoning, etc. won't be returning. read more

When dealing with management on phone, I was told that they're too busy and the customers in store were more important than my Door Dash order (where I pay more). They told me to go pick up another sandwich (defeating the point of delivery). Management should be concerned with all customers and avoid having people who handle their phones who get overwhelmed and hang up when dealing with an incorrect order. read more

I had to use the women's bathroom before I ordered. There was strands of toilet paper all over the floor when you walked in. There was water all over the sinks. Second stall had pee all over the seat and something wet n sticky on the floor. There was strands of toilet paper on the floor. If the owner acknowledged my concern and corrected it I won't have written this review. I didn't bother to go back into the bathroom before my 1 1/2 ride home. I lost my appetite but I was with my friend and her children so they were hungry. Against my better judgment I stayed. My friend got a California burger w two top buns and no bacon or Mayo. Her daughter got a Hamburger with two bottom buns. Chicken Franchise smelled different but my daughter said it was ok. My friends son had London Broil and it was cut thick and it was difficult to cut. He said it had no flavor and it was hard to chew. I wanted the prime rib but they were out. So, i got turkey BLT on wheat toast. It was dry. Fries were terrible undercooked and tasteless. The waiter was good and very attentive. After we ordered I approached the owner n he said really. I said really and it's disgusting nothing like I've never seen before. I should have taken pictures but I was just taken off by the owners reaction. When we stop here it's for a late family breakfast after church or a late night stop midnight-1am on the rare occasions the grown-ups get out. I wish they were 24 hours as OB was. Can't tell you how many times we had a very large group with late night cravings & our only option was disgusting McDonald's or Dominos--and we are 35+ age adults in large groups who would certainly tip well. My favorite indulgence is the pork roll & cheese on a bagel or roll, French fries, and brown gravy to dip it all in. Jersey on a plate! The cream of turkey soup is also great late-night fare.
