    Disrespectful to the flag

I was going to give this RV park 5 stars until this happened with the flag flying near the office after the Trump verdict. Very upsetting to those vets, first responders, etc. they deserve better! We always try to support local businesses on the road, but we won't be back to this park because of this. I don't care about your politics but I do care about the flag and what it represents.

What a place to stay. We stayed here for 7 days along with 5 other friends with tiffins and we had an absolute blast. We did the train one afternoon up to the canyon . The hospitality of the staff here is impeccable. We played cards as well as pool upstairs in the barn almost every-night. The fire pits are cool as well. The town has quite a few little shops that were fun to walk in and out of as well. Overall it's a really cool place to stay if you have the time. AAA+++

Loved this RV park. Very rustic. Friendly, helpful staff. Loved, loved the pet spa! We stayed here before camping in the Grand Canyon Campground, and we came back after the Grand Canyon specifically because of the pet spa. They have two hot tubs, a laundry room, and a small store. If you have pets that stay behind when you are out and about, they will go to your rig and walk your dogs for no extra charge! It takes about an hour to drive to the Grand Canyon from the RV park. Williams/Route 66 and Bearizona are just a few minutes away. (You must check out Bearizona!!!). I'd definitely stay here again. There's a bit of train noise (it's called Railside for a reason), and a bit of road traffic noise, but not too bad.

We just love this space. Intended to stay a week and ended up staying almost a month. It's the oldest park in Williams with lovey mature trees and located next to the fairgrounds. The historic Grand Canyon train scoots by 4 times per day, tooting "shave and a haircut (know what I mean?)". Tamara and Patrick (owners) are kind and accommodating. These two are easy to talk to and always have a wave and smile. The site size is generous with us being able to park a 39ft 5th wheel trailer, a smaller flatbed trailer, a car, and our towing truck. I was told in non-covoid times there is full continental breakfast offered every morning. We didnt get to experience this, but wish we had. I hope we make it back to Railside RV. I fell in love w the town and this park.

In searching for a campground for an end of the summer trip with the family that included hookups we came across Railside RV. To make a reservation you have to call, but we lucked out and they had an opening. The place was nice and seemed to be well maintained. Only a few of the offered amenities were available due to COVID, but we did enjoy that they had a small dog park, mini golf and outdoor kids play area. We didn't discover the indoor play area with pool table and games until our last day. Hookup was no problem and we even took advantage of the insight propane refill option, which was weird (call and leave message to get a return call with instructions for drop off and return) but I am sure it is a lot easier without COVID restrictions. The only downside was how close all the sites are to each other. (Literally felt like we were right on top of our neighbor. And our picnic table was positioned right next to the sewer section for the next neighbor.) Luckily we moved the table some and were okay, but if you are looking for a site with some privacy this is not the place. We loved the easy distance to Williams and Bearizona. The train tracks on site were interesting and we only noticed the train horns a couple of times. All in all the campsite was nice if you want closeness to town and amenities. If we visit Williams again we might stay again.

Our space was a large pull through. The park is clean, the owners who run this campground are friendly and very accommodating. The amenities are nice. Our favorite was the Pet Spa.

We were set up next to the park.

We only intended to stay one day and stayed for 3! The park is awesome! They have a gym, a small mini golf area and playground for kids. The train comes by twice daily heading to Grand Canyon. The interstate is close enough to be convenient, but we didn't hear it. They served breakfast. The laundry area was nice. Showers looked great (we didn't use them). Tamara (owner) gave us a great map when we arrived and told us so many great spots to see while we wife there. I would love to visit again. As we were leaving the owners were out telling everyone good by! I get the feeling they are always doing even more to improve so it would be fun to come back and see what they have done now.

We had a great time this week, such a beautiful place! Staff are amazing and the place was clean and family friendly!!

I have lost count as to how many times I have passed by this beautiful, well-maintained area without camping here, but this will no longer be the case. We stayed two nights here (June 7-8, 2016) and it wasn't enough during our weeklong trip. Dry camping only - tents, trailers, & RVs. No hook-ups. Just you, your posse, your home away from home. We found that the pull-through sites were not our style. The back-in sites were more level and seemed to have a better feel. If you end up with a pull-through site, though, you will still be a happy camper. It's mostly relatively quiet here. You can still kind of hear the I-40 and trains off in the distance. Otherwise, it's very peaceful. The campground hosts are really friendly and helpful. They sell firewood, ice cream, fishing bait and ice at their check-in area. PROS - vault toilets (but they actually smell nice & toilet paper is provided!) - paved roads & graveled sites - each site also has a fire ring with a grill & a picnic table - leashed pets are allowed - garbage AND recycle bins are nearby CONS - closed from October to April due to weather - no utilities or dump station (and please don't dump your grey water onto the ground!) - no running water except the potable water spigots (for drinking only... FYI... the lake is a water source for the City of Williams) TIPS - reserve your site online at recreation.gov - day use areas are by the lake - fishing is allowed - for license info. go to https://www.azgfd.com/ - daytime average temp. = 82°F & night time = 54°F. HOWEVER, these fluctuate. Be prepared. The pine trees smell amazing here. Or perhaps I had been inhaling the L.A. smog a bit too much - ha! The twinkling stars at night are a breath of fresh air too. The funny little Kaibab squirrels who to my surprise really didn't bother us... They are pretty flippin' smart. So fast. Too fast for cameras. Stay here at least one night if you get the chance! Unfortunately, we couldn't have a fire due to fire restrictions. However, we were able to bring our own gas-powered fire pit. It would be nice to get informed by email if you have a reservation about fire restrictions, because if we didn't bring our blackstone to make our food, I would have been very upset. Before arriving, I did some research on the black bear shack that our friends told us about, but sadly found out they are not at this campground anymore. The road coming in is extremely bumpy and rough. When leaving the campground, I recommend going left instead of right. Our cars needed a very good car wash after! The campground is very beautiful. Get there at opening - the animals were just (or are currently) being fed and are out and active. We got there maybe 20 minutes before opening and were waiting at the gate behind a car that was there already. So come time they opened and let us through, we were able to thoroughly take our time without worrying someone behind us wanting to go faster. There is signage telling you when you do need to have your windows up so you can't miss that. Otherwise, you can let but never feed. There is a drive through section and then end it with a walking section. The gates opened at 8am but most of the shops and such don't open until 10am. So the walking part was quicker for us than I've heard it can be for others - but it also helped us save money. Haha there was a big gift shop attached towards the back (where they also have a restaurant), and we spent plenty of time and money there. Overall, it was maybe about a 2 hour trip.

First thing, you'll drive through an area that reminded me of Jurassic Park (lol) - fenced off areas that contain different breeds. You can keep your car windows down to take photos of the docile animals like burros, bighorn sheep, deer, etc. But the windows go up when you're around the wolves and the bears. No exceptions! You don't want to be in THAT Instagram video, right? Next, we parked and went through the zoo-like area. We saw animals like badgers, porcupines and bobcats. I was disappointed that we didn't get to see animals in certain exhibits like the otters, jaguars and elk: no reasons given. Maybe they were cleaning their enclosures? I'm not really sure but I missed seeing them. The standout in this section were the three sibling grizzly bears. They frolicked in the water, wrestling and playing. One looked like it was doing yoga- stretching and posing. They were captivating. After this we went back through the drive-thru section again. You can do this as many times as you'd like. We found that the animals were the most active at 8:00 a.m. when the park opened. (I think they'd placed some food out then.) On our second pass through many of the animals were sleeping (especially the bears) or had just settled down. I think Bearizona is definitely worth checking out at least once. I'd recommend staying close by in Williams for easy access, and come early when the animals are active.

The location was quiet, some of the staff were nice, and the showers were better than expected. Unfortunately, that was not enough to make up for the rest of the experience. The cabins were extremely hot, and the lack of air conditioning made it very uncomfortable. Fans helped a little, but not enough to make the stay relaxing. For the price, I expected the accommodations to be much more comfortable and better maintained. The campground itself also felt boring, especially for families with children. There was not much to do, the on-site store was overpriced, and some of the basic amenities were disappointing. The Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable, the sites felt too close together, and the nearby highway noise took away from the outdoor camping feel. Cleanliness and management also seemed to be an issue. Bathrooms and facilities should be checked and cleaned regularly, especially with the number of employees around. Instead, it felt like things were being overlooked. For a KOA, I expected better organization, better communication, and better attention to guests. The staff who were friendly deserve credit, but management needs serious improvement. At this price point, guests should not be uncomfortable, bored, dealing with poor maintenance, or feeling like basic issues are being ignored. Overall, there are a few good things here, but not enough for me to recommend it or want to stay again.
